paint, plan outings, rediscover favourite children’s programs such as Play School or Postman Pat, and possibly even start a “Nana Club”. Dr Vivienne said, “Children can gain a wonderful sense of belonging, family history, emotional security and unconditional acceptance. And the winners are … Comedian Tom Ballard’s original script The Apology claimed the prestigious Eleanor Nimmo
1st prize and its $5,000 award at Noosa Arts Theatre’s recent One Act Play Festival, while also scooping almost every other award. The award donated by the Nimmo Family will increase to $10,000 next year as the festival celebrates its 50th anniversary. The Apology, directed by Liza Park, delighted audiences with its clever direction and non-stop hilarious bickering between the 3 characters, which aroused continuous laughter from the audience at each performance. Frank Wilkie was awarded Best Actor, while Sepi Burgiani took out Best Actress. Jenni McCaul’s performance as the bitter office worker was the perfect foil. Adjudicator Michael Futcher also awarded the production with the Best Ensemble award. New Zealand playwright Sheree Veysey attended the festival to celebrate her 3rd success among its winning playwrights. Whisky and Mischief received 2nd place and $3,000, donated by the Edythe Brook Cooper Trust Award.
