Green light to address serious safety risk A long overdue project to add pedestrian and bicycle access adjacent to the bridge across North Maroochy River near the turn off to Seib Rd is a step closer to being realised. The news from Member for Ninderry, Dan Purdie MP, that a shared funding commitment has been made by the Department of Transport and Main Roads and by Sunshine Coast Council is music to the ears of Eumundi State School parent Hejira Convery. “Our family live just 1,200m from the businesses and school at Eumundi but we have to cross a

‘bridge of doom’ to get there,” Hejira said. “We have experienced frightening near misses and so have others as the traffic on the Eumundi -Noosa Rd is thick and fast these days. We’re relieved to hear that this project is one step closer to being built and just want to see it finished before someone gets hurt walking to town or cycling to Eumundi Conservation Park. Lots of people signed a petition calling for a safe pathway across the river, and we’re looking forward to giving the ‘bridge of doom’ a brighter name in our family,” she said.
