Future Activities (a) In a discussion on full membership, Dr. Bellani urged that everything should be done to encouraee an expansion of membership wherever possible. (b) 'The rosition of the Secretary was discussed and it was announced that there would be a meeting between the FA0 Directorate and the Commission's Chairman and Vice-chairmen. Several members of the Committee emphasized the importance of continuity and expressed the hope that, if and when a change had to be made, due regard would be paid to the high technical calibre required. 2.

Reference was made to the Corrrnission's work, especially in the last 15 years in southeastern Europe, and the statement made that the proposed increase was a modest vote of confidence in that work. The proposal to recommend a 30 percent increase in-national contributions was carried by a large majority of the Corrmittee members. 3. The Committee took note of the unsatisfactory disease situation in North Africa but decided to leave major discussion of this topic to the plenary Session.
