Eudora High School Cardinal U

EHS Cardinal U provides opportunities for students to earn college credits, career and technical educational credits, and certifications through partnerships with post-secondary institutions and technical schools. EHS partners with multiple institutions to ensure students can enroll in their chosen classes.

This guide serves as a resource for families.

JCCC CollegeNow Concurrent classes (in-person taught by EHS teachers): $121 per credit hour

In person by EHS staff or online

by Baker University staff: $118 per credit hour

Students attend class at Peaslee Technical Center and gain hands-on training by industry experts and certifications in a variety of fields. No cost for classes with grant application

In person by EHS staff or online by ACC instructors: $65 per credit hour; CTE courses are $0 per credit hour

Dual credit classes (online classes taught by ESU instructors): $21 per credit hour

About the Scholarship The Truity Credit Union – Cardinal U Scholarship, funded by Truity Credit Union and administered by the Eudora Schools Foundation, ensures all EHS students can access college-level opportunities regardless of financial barriers. Awards cover tuition only and are distributed directly to partnering colleges.

Who Can Apply • Eudora High School students officially approved to participate in Cardinal U • Students who qualify for Free or Reduced Lunch (eligibility verified by USD 491 Food Service)

Systemwide General Education Framework Systemwide General Education Framework Kansas Board of Regents has established seven “buckets” for General Education requirements that are also part of a system-wide transfer between post-secondary institutions (Kansas colleges and universities). The following courses will be offered as college credit classes for Eudora High School juniors and seniors (and identified gifted sophomore students). Students who pass these classes will receive both high school and college credit for the course.

The following online courses may not fill one of the general education buckets, but may still be transferrable to a post-secondary institution. Students should consult with a college advisor for more information.

These courses are at no cost to students. Other courses may also be available, and students should discuss interest with the Cardinal U director or their counselor to be sure courses align with pathway and post-secondary plans.

Peaslee Technical Training center Eudora High School Partnership Course Offerings

Eudora High School partners with Peaslee Technical Training Center to offer hands-on career and technical education opportunities for high school junior and senior students. Courses below provide industry-recognized credentials and valuable experience in high-demand technical fields.

Attendance: 90% required for successful completion Students follow Peaslee schedule for attendance All courses are provided at no cost to students through grant applications and other funding opportunities. Fees may apply for certification or license testing.

Building Trades Careers

Hands-on residential construction; students learn skills to build a residential home, from blueprint reading, building codes, to material estimation. Students earn OSHA-10 Construction certifiction.

Diesel Technology Careers

Train to inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines; earn ASE T8 certification.

Robotics & Automation Production

Learn manufacturing and automation systems; earn Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt and $500 paid completion bonus.

Careers in Cosmetology

Introduces students to the cosmetology industry through hands-on training in hair, skin, and nail care. Emphasizes safety, professionalism, and business skills while preparing for future licensing opportunities.

Aviation Careers

Career explation with both hands on activities and interactions from aviation professionals such as pilots, aircraft mechanic, flight engineer or air traffic controller. Earn drone pilot and airport ground crew certifications.

Learn MIG, TIG, arc, and oxyacetylene welding; earn OSHA-10 and Peaslee Tech Certificate

Nine-week lab-based course on vehicle maintenance and service skills. Prepares students to take Lube and Tire Technician exam.

Residential HVAC (Mon-Fri, 12:45-2:45 PM)

Prepares students with the foundational training to develop, through experience, into a skilled residential mechanical technician.

Students earn OSHA-10 and EPA 608 certification. This course includes a paid apprenticeship.

Phlebotomy (Mon-Fri, 12:45-2:45 PM)

Teaches knowledge in technical and procedural aspect of basics, including blood specimen collection and venipuncture. This course includes both theory and hands-on instruction. Must be 18 before October 15, 2026.

CDL-A (Commercial Driver License) (Mon-Fri, 1:00-3:00 PM)

Prepares students to drive multispeed transmission tractor and trailer, vehicle and log maintenance, and required skills to work as an over-the-road driver.

Must be 18 before October 15, 2026 and have learners’s permit and DOT medical card.
