ICYMI: News you may have missed in the past week

OCPS ends student mask requirements, Gov. DeSantis wants you to buy — and hit? — his balls, plus more news you may have missed last week.

» Orange County Public Schools make masks optional for students

Orange County Public Schools last week made masks fully optional for students. The decision came after the Florida Legislature passed a series of laws making it harder to mandate safe behavior in a pandemic. OCPS’ strict mask mandate ended last month, with students who wished to opt out of mask policies required to get a note from their parents. That requirement is no longer in place. Masks will be optional for all adults on OCPS property starting Monday, Nov. 29.

» Former NFL player Zac Stacy arrested at MCO

Zac Stacy was arrested at the Orlando International Airport last Thursday night. The former NFL player is facing charges of felony aggravated battery and criminal mischief after his girlfriend shared footage of Stacy assaulting her at her home in Oakland. The video showed Stacey repeatedly punching the victim in the head before picking her up and throwing her into a television. The footage was captured from multiple angles by cameras in the victim’s home. Police were called to the Oakland home around 2:30 a.m., though Stacy had fled the scene by that time. Orlando authorities arrested the former Vanderbilt running back as he arrived at MCO on a flight from Nashville. Stacy appeared before a judge Friday morning and had his bond set at $10,150.

» Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis wants you to smack his balls

Despite what you may have heard (and what Donald Trump may or may not tell you), Ron DeSantis has balls, and they’re for sale. Following over 60,000 dead constituents and a special session railing against vaccine mandates, DeSantis released new scrotum-themed re-election campaign merchandise. Last week, as the Legislature made a move to pass DeSantis’ wish to ban businesses from requiring vaccines for employees, the governor’s team debuted a new set of golf balls available on his campaign website with “Florida’s Governor Has Balls” printed on the package, along with “Hold The Line.” Ron’s white, dimply balls cost $19.95, and are actually TaylorMade TP5X Golf Balls. Surely, nothing says you stood up to the globalist agenda, Big Tech and the woke media like letting everyone know your balls are for sale on the internet.

» Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz wants Kyle Rittenhouse as his congressional intern

If there were qualifications for working in the halls of Congress, we doubt Matt Gaetz would get in. The Panhandle representative has spent the last year under a cloud of suspicion around his scammy and scummy friendships, with allegations floating that he may have hired an underage sex worker. Given the toxic milieu that Gaetz runs in, it makes sense that he’d want Kenosha killer Kyle Rittenhouse on his team. In a recent interview with Newsmax, Gaetz floated the idea of bringing the teen currently on trial for murder into his office as an intern. “He deserves a not-guilty verdict and I sure hope he gets it because, you know what? Kyle Rittenhouse would make a pretty good congressional intern,” Gaetz said. Aside from the gross implication of “additional ways” when talking about a kid who shot and killed two people, to suggest there’s something redeemable or honorable in murdering fellow Americans in the street is disgusting. Only a country that doesn’t view marching around with a rifle on your chest in someone else’s town as a provocation could argue self-defense in Rittenhouse’s killing of an unarmed man.
