Student Leaders Excel at Eton Academy

Dickson Mogaka, Senior

Dickson Mogaka, featured graduation speaker of the Class of 2019, left his school experience with Eton sharing the word “better” as his legacy for the community. As a member of the National Honor Society, and a peer and teacher-recognized leader within Eton Academy, Dickson spent this year working to see how much more he could give back during his last months as a student.

“It is important for me to continue to push myself continuously and show others what is possible. Eton Academy has been a gift from my family to ensure my education is setting the stage in my life for even greater things. I am so grateful for their support, and for the ability to push myself to be better every single day I have been at Eton Academy. Eton taught me to measure my own success, not against other people, and to help others see their own success,” states Dickson.

Senior Dickson Mogaka and Junior Cate Agley are honored by Rhonda Walker from WDIV, Channel 4.

Earlier this year, teacher Mary Beth Casey nominated Dickson to be featured on the NBC-affiliate station, WDIV Channel 4. He was featured on “Rhonda’s Brag Book” along with junior, Cate Agley.

“Dickson is a very special student that I feel incredibly grateful to have taught him. His persistence, kindness, leadership, volunteerism, and drive to continuously move forward is unmatched. We are so proud of all he has done to leave his mark on the Eton community and we cannot wait to see what he does next,” states Casey.

Dickson has been accepted to every school he applied for including New York University, Johns Hopkins University, the University of Michigan, and more. He is choosing to attend Wayne State University on full scholarship in pre-med.
