Tennessee is known as “The Volunteer State.” That volunteer spirit is, I believe, a result of a more broad attitude of caring for others and ultimately from the greatest commandment – Love thy neighbor.
Dollywood is more than just a theme park. If you ask the employees, Dollywood is a family. If you ask the fans, Dollywood is home!
And we all know Dolly is the patron saint of East Tennessee! With her Imagination Library (donating books to children all over the world) and her many donations to the people of East Tennessee, she is well deserving of that moniker.
We attended our 4th opening day media event at Dollywood on March 13th, and as always, we were impressed by what we learned both “on” and “off stage”.
On Stage: Yes, we got to see Dolly and Eugene Naughton (Dollywood Parks & Resorts President) discuss upcoming improvements. We saw a couple of great shows and ate some wonderful food. That was all a lot of fun and informative.
Off Stage: As a part of the media events, we are assigned a guide, usually a member of the Human Resources or Talent Acquisition department. It is from these guides that we usually learn some extremely impressive information that isn’t often shared, so we thought we’d share some of this information with our readers this month along with our own personal observations. Sprinkled throughout the article below are some of the facts we’ve learned over the years that have impressed us the most.
DOLLY PARTON KICKS OFF ADVENTUROUS 2026 SEASON AT DOLLYWOOD, DETAILS UPCOMING ATTRACTION AND EVENTS
On March 13, 2026, Dolly Parton welcomed season passholders and members of the media to the first day of Dollywood’s 41st season during a special media event, setting high expectations for what will be the Smoky Mountain theme park’s most exciting year yet. With a brand-new, oneof-a-kind attraction set to open later this spring, the inaugural Run Dollywood race in April and new exclusive after-hours events, guests have a number of reasons to visit TripAdvisor’s #1 theme park during every festival and season in 2026.
Dolly and Eugene Naughton, Dollywood President, gave guests a closer look at Dollywood’s immersive indoor roller coaster, NightFlight Expediton.
“I’m so excited for everything we have for our guests this season,” Dolly said. “We’re investing a lot of time and money

"Our Dollywood staff guide, Hope, told us that she is working on completing her college degree through the Dollywood Grow U education program. This online program is free to Dollywood employees and is an awesome benefit. Hope has been working for Dollywood since she was 14; she’s close to finishing her degree in Human Resources and was gratefully proud to share that she hasn’t had to pay a cent. She’s already working at her dream job in HR at Dollywood."
into our big new roller coaster this year, and I can’t wait for everyone to go on the Smoky Mountain adventure NightFlight Expedition is going to offer. The ride takes me back to so many wonderful memories
I had as a kid, with all the fireflies and the moonlight making the Smokies have a special kind of magic, so I had to recreate that for everyone visiting Dollywood!” NightFlight Expedition adds to
“If the values don’t permeate every element of the company, then it’s phony and you can feel it in the park.” – Susan, from Talent Acquisitions. “It’s not just for show. Dollywood feels like home – for everyone.”

One employee shared with us how fulfilling her job was working with their international hiring program. She was currently helping a young man from Turkey – he had recently lost his entire family, and she was able to help him start a new life in the US.
Dollywood’s already impressive portfolio by becoming the park’s 11th roller coaster. With four thrilling experiences on one coaster, Dollywood’s NightFlight Expedition takes guests soaring on a nighttime flight over the scenic Smokies, on a thrilling whitewater rafting excursion through more than 500,000 gallons of surging water, up and over a mountain ridge, and plunging into a mysterious shimmering lake.
“NightFlight Expedition is the ride that industry experts, media and influencers have all called the most anticipated attraction of 2026,” said Naughton. “This ride is going to be a gamechanger for the theme park world; but it isn’t the only gamechanger for Dollywood this season. I am so excited to participate in Dollywood’s Run Dollywood race alongside the other participants. I also can’t wait to watch families make even more memories together during our brand-new, after-hours events and other festival offerings. This truly will be the most exciting season at Dollywood yet.”
continued on 4A ...

"We got to see Dolly tell us about how she is doing and future additions to the park. She looked great! It is always really encouraging to see how much she loves her fans and how much they love her. She wanted us all to know she’s not done yet!"

Spring is a time of renewal when we witness new leaves starting to show on trees and bushes and colorful spring blooms putting on a beautiful show. Here in East Tennessee, dogwood blooms are celebrated all month long with color finally coming back to the landscape, brightening our surroundings, and lifting our spirits. And activity is picking up in the area as the days and evenings warm up. Recreation opportunities, special events, and travel options are slowly opening up again. Everywhere you look, the world is filled with renewed life.
Easter is just around the corner: April 5th. Easter is a time when we remember the sacrifice Jesus made, celebrate his resurrection, and remind ourselves about his incredible mercy. Easter commemorates the renewal in our own lives and the hope of eternity we have in heaven with Jesus.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. – John 3:16 ESV
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. – Romans 5:8
April in the Knoxville area is full of activity, and we hope you can get out and enjoy some of those events. It’s time to shed the winter blues and enjoy the bright colors of spring in our area. From the Dogwood Arts Festival to the natural landscape all around us, God’s glory shines here in East Tennessee.

I pray you have a blessed Easter and take the time to meditate on all that God has done for us!

For decades, hearing aids were unfairly associated with aging, frailty, or decline. They were bulky, beige devices that people felt compelled to hide. Today, that world is gone. A remarkable cultural shift— powered by technology, visibility, and changing attitudes toward health— has transformed hearing aids from something to conceal into something many people proudly embrace.

One of the biggest drivers of this change is the evolution of the devices themselves. Modern hearing aids are sleek, stylish, and often nearly invisible. Some look like high-end earbuds; others tuck discreetly behind the ear with barely a trace. They come with features that feel more like premium tech than medical equipment: Bluetooth streaming, rechargeable batteries, AI-powered sound processing, and smartphone apps that let users fine‑tune their listening experience. When a device looks and behaves like cutting-edge consumer tech, it naturally sheds the stigma of being a “medical device.”
Another major shift is the growing openness around hearing health. As more people talk about their experiences—celebrities, athletes, musicians, and influencers included—hearing aids have become normalized. Public figures like Millie Bobby Brown, Huey Lewis, and Bill Clinton have openly discussed their hearing loss, helping millions see that hearing challenges can affect anyone. This visibility has reframed hearing aids as a tool for empowerment rather than a symbol of decline.
Demographics also play a role. Younger adults are seeking hearing help earlier than previous generations, often because of long-term headphone use, loud workplaces, or recreational noise exposure. When people in their 20s, 30s, and 40s start wearing hearing aids, the old stereotype that they’re “only for seniors” simply doesn’t hold up. And with over-the-counter hearing aids now available in the U.S., the devices feel more accessible and mainstream than ever.
Perhaps the most important shift is how society now views self-care. Glasses, once stigmatized, are now fashion statements. Fitness trackers, sleep monitors, and smartwatches have made health‑related wearables part of everyday life. Hearing aids fit naturally into this broader trend: tools that help people live better, stay connected, and participate fully in conversations. Choosing to hear well is increasingly seen as a sign of confidence and self‑advocacy.
Finally, people who adopt hearing aids often discover
powerful: improved hearing dramatically enhances quality of life. Conversations become easier, relationships feel richer, and social situations become less stressful. When the benefits are so immediate and meaningful, the old stigma loses its grip.
The bottom line is simple: hearing aids today are smart, stylish, and socially accepted.

Have you ever wondered what happens under the roof of Our PLACE Memory Day Center?
When I first moved to Tellico Village, I would pass the corner of SR-444 and SR-72 and assume the building on the northeast corner was a small bank. Never did I imagine that inside there was a vibrant community of people smiling and laughing as they listened to music, played games, exercised, and shared their rich

histories. It is a community that lives in the precious moments found in meaningful connection, participating in a structured, evidence-based activities program.
Family members and friends who entrust their loved ones to us gain peace of mind. Research consistently shows that programs like ours can improve mood, help maintain abilities, and promote social connection for people living with memory challenges. It’s not surprising, then, to

hear a participant ask, “Can I come back tomorrow”?
Let me share some of the benefits of a few of our daily activities.
Music is one of the most powerful tools in dementia care. Even when memory and language decline, the brain often retains the ability to recognize melodies and lyrics. Studies published in journals such as Frontiers in Psychology and The Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease show that music activates multiple areas of the brain, including those responsible for emotion, movement, and memory. Singing familiar songs or listening to favorite music can reduce anxiety, improve mood, and encourage engagement. Participants may clap, sway, sing along, or share memories connected to songs from earlier in life. Music has also been shown to decrease agitation and increase cooperation with care activities.

Exercise is equally important for individuals attending an adult memory day program. Physical movement supports cardiovascular health, balance, strength, and flexibility—all of which help maintain independence. Research in the field of gerontology suggests that regular exercise may slow cognitive decline by improving blood flow to the brain and supporting neuroplasticity. Many participants report feeling more alert and energized after participating in gentle physical activity.
Games and structured cognitive activities, such as word games, simple trivia, puzzles, or adapted board games, help maintain attention, problem-solving skills, and language abilities. According to research on cognitive stimulation therapy, engaging the mind through enjoyable
group activities can improve quality of life and may even modestly improve cognitive functioning. Importantly, games in memory care programs are adapted to match participants’ abilities, ensuring individuals experience success rather than frustration.
A typical day of fun recently had me laughing with the other 13 participants. After hearing several jokes, Dave chimed in and said, “Wherever you got those jokes, you should return them!” Moments like that remind us how much joy can be found here, surrounded by a caring, knowledgeable staff and dedicated volunteers.
Our PLACE improves quality of life for adults living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias by providing a safe, engaging day program with therapeutic activities and compassionate care. We also support caregivers through respite, education, support groups, and resources—helping create more “Moments of Joy” for families and participants.

In the 1939 movie classic “The Wizard of Oz,” the wizard – exposed as a fraud –scrambles to grant Dorothy, the scarecrow, cowardly lion and tin man their promised rewards for eliminating the wicked witch.
To the tin man, agonized over lacking a heart, he bestows a heart-shaped pendant clock, proclaiming, “Back where I come from, there are men who do nothing all day but good deeds. They are called phila... er, phila... er, yes, er, good-deed doers. And their hearts are no bigger than yours. But they have one thing you haven’t got – a testimonial. Therefore, in consideration of your kindness, I take pleasure in presenting you with a small token of our esteem and affection.”
A critical organ for life, the heart symbolizes humanity’s best qualities – empathy, compassion, morality. We all strive to embody these attributes and give of our time and fortune as “good-deed doers” to worthy causes in our respective ways and to our abilities.
While we all perform “philanthropy,” we tend to elevate its greatest practitioners to a higher level of sanctity. Think of tycoons supporting such causes as world peace (Alfred Nobel), or humanitarians like Mother Theresa ministering to Calcutta’s poor. Such do-gooders are often characterized as worthy of “a special place in heaven.” Even as individuals, we tend to believe ourselves worthy of heaven because of our body of good works and our self-perceived “good person” status. In actuality, while all selfless good works are God like, God directed and important, they don’t guarantee salvation. No one can ever perform enough good works to earn God’s favor.
So, given this, what did God do? He paid the debt we could never pay with His death and resurrection. And the Bible – the Word of God – explicitly declares that ONLY by accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior can one gain eternal salvation.
Romans 10:9 “… if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” And John 14:16 quotes Jesus: “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
Perfect and sinless, Jesus was born man, suffered and died, and rose from the dead three days later, absolving us of our sin. By accepting Christ as our Lord and Savior, we sinners gain His righteousness and our eternal salvation. His philanthropy is that generous and the deal just that simple!

This lovely proverb is from a vintage framed needlepoint that’s been with our family for decades. It’s a variation of a Native American saying that focuses on the relationship of present actions to future outcomes. It’s a rich metaphor that tells us that much of our future may be determined by the choices we make today.
The choices we make today don’t only affect our futures. Each of us can be a living example to others in our lives, whether those others be our children, family members, friends, acquaintances, or the strangers we may never actually meet. A display of integrity, an act of caring and kindness, an open hand to charity, a sincere demonstration of faith, a sign of affectionate love, are all examples of ways any of us can plant the seeds of caring, sharing, and loving in others, the ultimate flowers of our positive actions.
During this past winter there were periods of unseasonably warm weather that allowed for some early spring cleanup. It began by raking away the massive layer of leaves from the fall that had accumulated behind the house where the yard slopes down to the bordering woods. As the crusty mat was removed, areas of unusually fertile soil revealed itself. Thinking of the coming summer months I envisioned an area of a potential sea of color. Sure enough, that vision led to creating a new garden, in which was sown a full pound of wildflower seeds. They will be nurtured by the rich organic soil, rain and sun, and with patience and time, will sprout, grow upright, and form buds that will burst into countless blossoms that will grace the colorful garden throughout the summer months. This wonder of nature is undoubtably what the Native Americans shared through their insightful proverb as it related to their deep appreciation of all things that live: there is always a beginning…a seeding…that will require tending and time as it grows to

fruition.
Shepherd of the Lake is a liturgical church. Worship services are centered around Biblical teachings of faith, love, hope, charity, reconciliation, and forgiveness. As Christians, we strive to live our lives based on Jesus’s promise of everlasting life in heaven. Jesus has sown seeds in each of us through his sacrificial love so that we can strive to be God’s flowers both on earth and in heaven.
Shepherd of the Lake Church is conveniently located in the heart of Tellico Village. Sunday worship is at 9:00am, with Holy Communion served at every service. At God’s Eucharistic table, all are welcome to share in the sacrament.
Back to the proverb. Seeds are meant to be planted daily. We are to nurture them by the way we live, and as they grow to produce flowers, we may truly understand the wisdom behind the saying.

Near the turn of the 19th century a boy was born a few miles from here in Madisonville. His mother Susanna would die shortly after giving birth, so his father honored her by naming the boy Sue K. Hicks. This naturally led to teasing for most of his life but never stopped him from accomplishing a series of outstanding milestones. In every stage of his storied life, Hicks carved his name in history, so that “Sue” became just a clever side story.

Bo Giving A History Tour
After completing law school he moved to Dayton, Tennessee to join his older brother, who was the City Attorney for that town.
It was 1925, and local business leaders met daily at the F.E. Robinson Drug Store to discuss ways of bringing attention to Dayton so it might prosper. Sue Hicks joined these discussions and became a member of the “Drug Store Conspirators.” John Scopes was the young high school teacher who became the central figure in the greatest legal fight ever tried in this area. Scopes allowed himself to be arrested for teaching the Theory of Evolution in violation of the Butler Act. Sue Hicks agreed to prosecute the case, but he was eventually overshadowed by William Jennings Bryan, nationally acclaimed presidential candidate and esteemed orator; nevertheless, Hicks was a player in the famous “Monkey Trial” which ended in Scopes conviction, later overturned. Hicks observed that “Religious fanatics, reds and all manner of rabble were assembled at this trial, and at times the excitement of the crowd became almost a frenzy.”

Hicks returned to Monroe County where he served impressively as Circuit Court Judge from 1936-1958. In the 1960’s he was invited to speak at a judicial conference in Gatlinburg, where songwriter Shel Silverstein was attending. Shel found humor in the name Sue, which inspired him to write “A Boy Named Sue,” an award-winning hit for Johnny Cash in 1969. Cash felt so indebted that he sent two of the records to Hicks along with autographed pictures with the inscription “My name is Sue, how do you do?” Sue always maintained he was never ashamed but instead honored to carry on his mother’s name.
After retirement from the bench, Sue Hicks was elected president of the Fort Loudoun Association. Once the Tellico Dam construction became controversial, he became leader of the Association for the Preservation of the Little Tennessee River. In a town hall meeting, he allegedly loaded the audience with opponents of the dam, then challenged TVA officials to take a head count on how much local support the project held. TVA Chairman Red Wagner supposedly never forgave Sue Hicks for the embarrassing response by the crowd.
Prominent figure in the Scopes Monkey Trial, esteemed lawyer and judge, local activist for preservation of historic sites and natural resources, but forever known for a simple name. He lived to be 84, and in his later years Sue Hicks wrote a wise summary of his life’s deeds, “It is an irony of fate that I have tried over 800 murder cases and thousands of others, but the most publicity has been from the name ‘Sue’ and from the evolution trial... I was named Sue for my mother, who died after childbirth.”

“Finally found someone I can trust to look out for my best interest, someone who has produced sound results and someone in whom I have con dence. I highly recommend Marsh Wealth Management.”
— Lenny G. Client, not paid
By yvonne MaRSH, CFP®, CPa
When markets feel uncertain, many retirees instinctively want to play it safe. That usually means moving more money into cash, CDs, or other conservative investments. At first glance, that sounds prudent. After all, protecting what you’ve built is important.
But one of the quieter risks I see in retirement planning is actually becoming too conservative too soon.

Retirement today can easily last 25 or 30 years. During that time, your investments still need to grow — not aggressively, but enough to keep up with inflation and support withdrawals over a long horizon.
I recently met with a couple who had gradually moved a large portion of their portfolio into cash over the past few years. They told me they finally felt “safe.” The challenge was that their portfolio was now earning very little, while the cost of living continues to rise. When we modeled their plan, the long-term risk wasn’t market volatility. It was the slow erosion of purchasing power.
This is where structure matters.
At Marsh Wealth, we often use what we call an Investment Bucket Strategy to help retirees balance safety and growth. Instead of viewing the entire portfolio as one pool of money exposed to the market, we organize investments based on time and purpose: when the money will be needed and what purpose does it need to serve?
The “Now” bucket is designed to fund near-term spending and is invested conservatively. This helps ensure that the income you need over the next few years is not dependent on what the market happens to be doing.
The “Soon” bucket is for near-term spending and is invested conservatively. This helps ensure that the income you need during the next phase of retirement is not dependent on what the market happens to be doing.
The “Later” bucket is invested for longer-term growth, since those dollars may not be needed for a decade or more. It is positioned to replenish the Soon bucket over time.
This structure helps retirees balance the risk of losing money against the risk of missing opportunity. In other words, the goal isn’t choosing between safety and growth. The goal is putting each dollar into the right job based on timing and need.
If it has been a while since your retirement investing strategy was reviewed, or if you don’t have a Soon bucket yet, this may be a good time to revisit your strategy. Markets, inflation, and tax rules all evolve over time. A thoughtful plan can help you protect your lifestyle today while still preparing for the years ahead.

Sharon recently received her Quarter Century Membership marking 25 years of work done in the name of The Professional Golfers’ Association of America.
With the cooler weather, let’s take a few minutes to talk about stretching. As we age, we become less flexible and cold muscles are even less flexible. Take some time to avoid injury by stretching before you start playing.

If you arrive late to the tee box, then take some time to make 20 continuous swings, starting slowly and gradually increasing force and speed. I love continuous swings because tension starts disappearing, grip pressure starts disappearing so that the wrists can be free to hinge and unhinge, and the turn becomes easier. As you swing you are creating an effortless symmetry between backswing and follow-through, and the motion starts free flowing with less tension.
Another stretch to do is just take a club and put it behind your head holding it with the right hand on one end of the club and the left hand near the other end. Begin to turn and hold in your backswing, turn and then your follow thru turn.
Stretch your back downwards and side to side.
On the first tee always remember: this is not the place to swing out of your shoes and hit your longest drive (especially if it is cold). Swing to balance in your finish position.

Photographing

By Kalley CooK
Iget asked all the time about how I find these animals that I photograph. One thing I tell people is that you have to be present, and no matter how many times you’re unsuccessful you just have to keep getting out in nature. The truth is in nature and wildlife photography, I come home unsuccessful more than I come home with photos I’m proud of. So, for instance, bobcats were on a list of mine for years, I knew of a place where you could find them, but I just couldn’t get a great shot. After a couple years, I finally got my best photo ever of a bobcat on roughly a 30 second encounter, and I haven’t had an amazing encounter like that since. Amazing photos sometimes truly take years to get, or sometimes you are just lucky, but either way you have to be there to get the shot. So, where do I find these animals? A big thing I have taught myself over the two decades I have been a wildlife photographer is you have to learn animal habitat. When I’m out, I’m not necessarily looking for an animal, but I’m looking for signs such as tracks in the mud or scat that has been left behind. Another example is: say I’m wanting to photograph a great horned owl, I know that great horned owls enjoy being in very tall pine trees that are typically next to open fields and I also know the best time to look for them is in the winter while the other trees are bare. A huge tip for finding wildlife like your bobcats, owls, bald eagles or any predator is listening to the birds around you like crows or songbirds. Oftentimes crows will put me on an apex predator faster than I can find one myself. The songbirds will do something called mobbing when they see a predator, so listening to everything around you is a big must.
One thing that amazes people the most when I tell them is these animals I photograph are often photographed right in the comfort of my own car. These amazing animals are closer to us than most realize, you just have to be aware and you might be amazed what you see!

The wonderful thing about wildlife is you might see a subject a million times, such as this blue jay, but the opportunities are endless. The subject might be doing something different, and the lighting is different each time as well as the weather. Sometimes it pays to take a subject and photograph that same animal over and over and you might end up with something amazing. I have photographed so many blue jays over the years, but this is my favorite blue jay photo to date. Your “common” wildlife is just as amazing.

e have certainly seen what happens when the rollercoaster of spring pulls out of the station! Sunburn on Sunday and snow on Monday seems extreme, but anyone from this area knows it isn’t that unusual. If you are wise, you will keep your frost blankets, empty pots, and other plant covers accessible until after Mother’s Day. Or you can just let “survival of the fittest” make your plant selections for you.
I know that many of you have been chomping at the bit to get out in your yards, and several of you are already knee deep in landscape renovations. This month I am going to talk to you about how to ensure the best success rate for your plants.
1. Put the right plant in the right place. Too often customers walk into a “garden center” where the employees don’t know a pansy from a petunia and walk out with a plant that will never meet their expectations. Sun plants get planted in shade, shade plants get planted in sun, acid lovers get planted in basic soil, large trees are too close to the house, etc., etc., etc. Know what kind of soil you have, what amount of sun you get, and how big you want the plant to grow. Do some research before you buy. Some of these plants will be at your house longer than your children, so try to make good decisions.
2. Be prepared for the eventual size of a plant. Trees too close to your house will take it over and destroy your foundation. Shrubs can hide windows and overgrow your sidewalks. Look at the mature size and don’t tell yourself you can keep it small, because you aren’t going to want to fight that battle long term. Do your research.
3. Plant correctly. The optimal hole is no deeper than the growing container but 2x the width. (Contrary to popular opinion, most plants do not shoot roots deep into the soil. The vast majority send roots out, not down.) As you remove the clay from the hole, dump it onto a tarp or into a wheelbarrow. You then need to add in a good planting mix or soil conditioner until you have a 50/50 mix. Use this mixture to backfill your hole. Water the plant well and add more soil if the dirt settles.
4. Plants are living organisms that require care. You cannot “plant and forget.” Trees and some shrubs can take years to become established, and you will need to water them with something other than a sprinkler. Hand watering or drip irrigation works

best. Trees and shrubs need water to penetrate to the bottom of the root ball once a week and sprinklers only get the top inch or so. Keep an eye on your rain gauge, and water any week where we don’t get at least 1 inch of rain. A good, natural mulch will help to keep moisture levels more stable, but don’t make it deeper than 3 inches - and never pile it around the trunk!
5. Be realistic about your gardening desires and abilities. If you travel several months out of the year, have children that have lots of activities, or are getting to the point where gardening isn’t as easy as it used to be, you probably don’t want high maintenance plants. Raised beds, native plants, and container gardening might be good options for your season of life.
Once your plants are in the ground and settled, take a nice walk around your yard at least once a week so you can keep an eye on things. It is much easier to treat insect and disease problems if you don’t wait too long. If a plant doesn’t seem happy, snip off a little piece of it and take it to a garden center so they can diagnose the problem and help you get the proper treatment. Sometimes fungal damage looks like insect damage or a soil pH problem looks like a water problem. Make sure you are treating for the right problem!
Speaking of treatments, I always encourage you to use the most gentle product first. Start with insecticidal soap and horticultural oils before you move to harsh (and sometimes toxic) chemicals. Make sure the plant is getting what it needs to be healthy and it will recover from damage more quickly. Like humans, stress makes plants more susceptible to issues.
That is all for this month. Go outside and play in the dirt!

TVillage Yacht Club for a Night of Dancing and Live Music
he vibrant sound of big band music will once again fill the Tellico Village Yacht Club as The Top Notes Big Band returns for an entertaining evening of dancing, live music, and community on Monday, April 13, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Doors open at 6:00 pm, allowing guests to arrive early, enjoy beverages from the cash bar, and settle in before the music begins. The restaurant will be closed for the evening so attendees are invited to bring their own snacks.
A Unique Multi-Generational Ensemble
The Top Notes Big Band is a remarkable ensemble of more than 30 musicians, blending the talents of Tellico Village residents, local high school students, and professional players from the Knoxville area.
High school musicians were first invited to join the band after the COVID 19 shutdowns left performing arts programs without opportunities to play. Their involvement not only filled key instrumentation needs but also brought exceptional young talent into the ensemble.
Many of these students have since graduated and moved on to college, yet they continue to return and perform with the group—proof of the strong musical community the band has built. This multi-generational mix keeps the music fresh, dynamic, and deeply connected to the tradition of big band performance.
The enduring popularity of this genre—kept alive by modern artists such as Michael Bublé, Rod Stewart, and Lady Gaga—continues to inspire both seasoned musicians and new players to join in.
With a lively program of swing, jazz standards, and timeless big band classics, The Top Notes Big Band promises an evening perfect for dancing or simply relaxing and enjoying the rich, full sound of a true big band.

Spring is the perfect time to tackle often-overlooked areas of the home, like the garage. A thorough spring cleaning offers numerous benefits, from improving functionality to enhancing mental well-being. PremierGarage of Knoxville specializes in transforming cluttered garages into organized, efficient spaces with custom storage solutions.
Maximizing Usable Space
A cluttered garage becomes a catch-all for items without designated storage, wasting valuable space. By decluttering and organizing, you can reclaim the area for its intended purpose—whether that’s parking vehicles, setting up a workshop, or creating a home gym. We offer custom cabinetry and shelving to optimize garage space effectively.
Enhancing Safety
An unorganized garage can create safety hazards, such as tripping over misplaced items or improperly stored hazardous materials. Spring cleaning helps address these risks. Implementing solutions like slatwall organizers and overhead racks ensures that tools and equipment are securely stored, reducing accidents.
Pest Prevention
Cluttered garages provide hiding spots for pests like rodents and insects. These unwanted guests can cause damage and pose health risks. A clean, organized garage reduces nesting opportunities and helps deter infestations.
Improving Mental Well-being
Cleaning and organizing are linked to reduced stress and improved mental clarity. A tidy environment fosters a sense of accomplishment and control, contributing to better mental health. Research shows that decluttering can boost productivity and enhance mood, making spring cleaning a beneficial activity for overall well-being.
Increasing Property Value
An organized garage not only improves daily functionality but also adds value to your home. Prospective buyers often view the garage as an extension of living space. A well-maintained garage can positively influence their perception and potentially increase property value. Our custom flooring and storage solutions can transform your

garage into a showcase, improving both aesthetics and utility.
Efficient Seasonal Transition
Spring cleaning helps transition between seasons by organizing items like winter equipment and summer gear. Overhead storage solutions are ideal for storing off-season items, freeing up floor space for other uses. Implementing Effective Storage Solutions
