FIRST BAPTIST CALLS NEW PASTOR

On Sunday, May 21st, the congregation of First Baptist Church of Tellico Village voted to call Dr. David L. Talley as their new Lead Pastor. Pastor Dave, along with his wife Joni, said “yes” to the call. It’s been a year-long journey for the search team, combing through 130 applications and listening to hours of on-line sermons. All 7 members of the search team sensed God was leading Dr. Talley to us, and the entire church family agreed. With relocation details to be worked out, Pastor Dave should be able to begin his new ministry in July. In the meanwhile, the Talleys, who are originally from Alabama, will be packing and saying good-bye to their friends in Southern California.

In the next few weeks Charlie Campbell, our interim pastor, will continue to prepare the congregation to welcome their new pastor. Using I Thessalonians 5:12-28 as the Biblical text, Charlie Campbell will preach each week on the congregation’s responsibility to ‘hold a pastor in the highest regard in love because of their work for us.’
