Bought him a good selection of shopping including the thigs he really likes, lamb, olives, and various nice stuff.

He always emails a blessing every Sunday, but I haven’t had one for the last two Sundays, I’ll check in on him when in the area. Or maybe the lesson is to just let go. There’s been a lot of that lesson recently, so yes, I’ll just it go.

But I will email him ...

She’s another long term recipient of EM services. She comes and goes, lives in a drug infested tower block.

I’m still learning how to work with such people. Importantly, how to care, without caring. Perhaps my own medical clinicians are helping me in this. They care, professionally, but personally... maybe not. Or maybe only in the moment. Maybe that’s the way, to care, in the time of caring, then place the burden down and walk away.

What a mess this turned out to be. We’ve been supporting her and her boyfriend for several years. I knew she was a drug user, and when she phoned for help, I decided to confront her with this.

She was, in her own words, so ashamed, that they decided to come off heroin. They went through ten days of awefulness which I can believe, and then a couple of weeks later I met her at church. She was a very different person, but in a mess from the detox. So we went shopping for new clothes on Division Street, then to have her hair cut in Broomhill, because it was hopelessly matted. Then to the nail salon, to get her nails done.

The intention was to make her look and feel human again, to restore her dignity and sense of wellbeing and renewal as best as I could.

A few days later I arranged to meet her and her boyfriend in church in town, to give them some food shopping, and continue the support.

Whilst in the church, a knife fell out of the boyfriends pocket. I rebuked him for having a knife, and made a comment he took exception to, altough by the time they left we all seemed to be on good terms again.

The next day I awoke to a series of texts, sent by the boyfriend, on her phone, during the middle of the night and early morning. They were, in effect, paranoid jealousy and anger, and threats to report me to the church. I assumed he at least was already back on drugs.

I showed the texts to the church leader that day, and the genral feeling and good advice was to break contact with them both.

A few days later I got a voice message from the lady saying they had spit up over this, and whilst I sympathised, I didn’t respond. I was at this point only a week or two away from surgery and honestly I just didn’t have the energy for continued drama of this sort. I also had to keep away from people physically in order to not risk catching covid or anything else that could delay the surgery.

I don’t know what’s happened to her since then. I know her mum was dying, and she was given the ability to be clean for visiting her mother on the last mothers day she would have.

Will she stay off drugs? I don’t know.

She only lives 500 yards from the church, so she can go any time, and if she wants to talk, that’s where she can find me.

I am leaving it there for now. She is in God’s hands, not mine, and I’m good with that. I could feel the Lord saying to let go and let him take it from there. I’m happy to do so. I still think of her and pray for her. But she’s not my responsibility. Memo to self.

Today, on 21st April 2024, We delivered food parcels to So Chandara. He is a widow . He is 34 year olds, living with his own parents and his 3 children, 2 sons and 1 daughter in Siem Reap province. He is working as Security guard and his parents are scrap collectors. They can earn an income $ 150 per month together.

They are working as construction workers. After work Chan Art makes dessert for sale to increase income. They earn an income between $ 187.50 – $ 225 per month. Their pray request are : 1. Food

They are studying in grade 3. Hong Sophea and his wife are working as a construction worker, and can earn an income $ 150 per month. They don’t have a house. Currently, his family lives in a rental room.

Their children don’t have the opportunity to go to school because they are poor. Soun Seth and Peach Sophy are working as construction workers. They earn an income $ 5 – $ 7.50 per day.

They want to raise chickens to increase more income in the family but they don’t have enough money to buy them . Please prase for this to his family .

The parents of the 4 children are in drug center

Her name is Youn Synart, 38 – year-old and her husband’s name Chanthy, 32 – year-old ( Her husband now is in a drug rehabilitation center ), only Youn Synart who is responsible for raising the 5 children and everythings in daily living. Their home town is in Battombong province but recently they are living in a rental room in Siem Reap province. They have 5 children, there are 3 boys and 2 girls. Their occupation is scrap collectors . They can earn 2.50 $ to 3.75 $ per day . She really needs more food for daily life and wants to have a hammock for her younger daughter to stay in.

They need more help with food for the daily day and education for their son. Their son is studying in a grade 4 in public school.

Herm Hean wants to sell vegetables at the market but doesn’t have the capital for start yet.

Before she lived with her father but actually now her father has another step wife then he moved to live with his wife and leave his daughter to live alone. She wants to sell a vegetale at the market but doesn’t have a money to start.

Muylen has received a text from pastor Mark goodey from Greater Grace Cambodia church. He asked for helping one homeless family which he knows from his friend at church. Her name is Pov is a 29-year-old and her husband name Nart is a 32-year-old. They have four children, three daughters and one son.

The First daughter name’s Pink Pink is a 6-year-old

The Second daughter name’s Chouly is a 4-year-old

The Third daughter name’s Sreyleak is a 2-year-old

The Youngest son name’s Nut is 8 months

They are living on the land of someone at night time and day time they going to live under house of someone near by the land because too hot. You can see the pictures are enclosed

Pov, she can’t go to earn money because she needs to looks after the children and only her husband working as a scavenger for feeding his wife and the four children. It is very difficult for him to earn money enough for daily food because he can earn only $ 2.50 per day and some time earn nothing.

The EM Cambodia ministry have delivered food parcels to them such as fish sauce, soy sauce, shampoo powder, white sugar, soup powder, fish cans, noodles, Coca-Cola and Fanta for drink , mangos, biscuits for children and bring some clothes for them as well.

Total expense: $ 20.

Pray request for them to have the supporter to help them for a rental room so they are safety and wellbeing for their health. Because now they are very dirty and their children are affected by dusty, very bad smell .

We have delivered food parcels to one family staying at Greater Grace Cambodia church . Her name is Sao Sreypich, is a 37-year-old and her husband name is Sun Rasy, is a 36 -year-old. Their home town from Battambang province, now living in Phnom Penh. They have two children, one son is a 4-year- old and youngest daughter is a 3-year-old. Her husband working as a Tuk Tuk driver for feeding his wife and two children . He can earn $ 250 per month as an average.

Praying for this family to find a place to stay in next 2 months because in June The Greater Grace Cambodia church is end of the contract with the house owner and will moving to other place .

The food parcels items are : fish sauce, soy sauce, shampoo powder, soup powder, white sugar, fish cans, noodles, Coca Cola and Fanta , mango fruits, biscuits.

Her other son financially struggles to live with his family, leading to the failure in marriage. He left his daughter to be with his mom, Mrs. Born. Her husband works in a sweatshop condition of work, trying to make ends -meets. Currently, she lives in someone’s house.

Status : Poor villager, Location: Choueng Prey village, Choueng Prey commune, Bathay district, Kompong Cham province.

Mrs Sarim lives in her old cottage, no employment. Her son works in a factory – sweatshop – condition works. He works hard to support the feeding in the family.

There are 5 members in this village. They live up on a hill. All the kids quit school to migrate into different places for a living. Her widow mom lives with her. Sometimes Kuch has to get into someone’s farm to pick up cashew nuts without the knowledge of the owner. She collects them and sell them to make a living. She risks her life to do different things to get money to support her family.

They both make their living from picking up firewood in the forest to sell. They can make 1 or 2 USD per day. Sometimes they risk their lives going to someone’s farm to collect cashew nuts for sales. They have no small children to take care of.

They also serve their community events in exchange for food. Trangendered has been still marginalized but becoming socially accepted now. Ming Ra feels better after being previously rejected.

We have delivery food parcels such as rice , noodles, soy sauce, fish sauce and soap powder to Mom Dany, about 50 years old. She lives with her three sons, Mey (16) and Mean (13). They are poor but they work really hard to live. Sometimes they have to go fishing for food. They also collect firewood and cashew nuts nuts for sales to make a living.

Due to the poverty, all her three kids gave up their study. The two boys have migrated into the city to work at a construction site (sweatshop types of work). They had to return to their village because they were exploited.

He had been working in the city and sending money to support his family. His workplace had to lay off some staff due to the economic crisis. He now moves back to his village and lives with his wife.

He is good at fishing. He sometimes fish and feed his family a few days with what he got from the river

We have delivered food parcels such as rice , noodles, soy sauce, fish sauce and soap powder to Mr. Chon Nan 44 years old. His wife , Sron Sros 37. They have monk at his young age. Their daughter goes to informal school curriculum in this hill community.

They live in this small , old house making their daily living from collecting firewood, hunting for honey, catching crabs , fish.

We have delivered food parcels to Mr. La Chandt, 39 years old. He lives with his wife and 2 sons.

Due to the poverty, his older boy has to quit school. He has every now and then migrated to the city to get construction work (sweatshop conditions) to send money back to support his family.

He and his wife sometimes go into the nearby forest to collect firewood and pick cashew nuts for sales

Status: Poor family, hit with economic crisis. Location: Korkrovieng village, Korkrovieng commune, Cheoung Prey district, Kompong Cham province.

We have provided food parcels to Mrs. Nim Thavy- , 17 years old. She lives with her old age mother. Thavy just had her first baby 4 month under age. She was embarrassed about who the father is. She never found who made her pregnant. She delivered her baby at a public maternity with little finance.

Status: Poor family, pregnancy at underage . Location: Korkrovieng village, Korkrovieng commune, Cheoung Prey district, Kompong Cham province.

We have delivered food parcels to Mou Sokheng, 55 years old. She lives with her violent husband. She has two children who are grown-up now.

Her husband is alcoholic. Domestic violence is pretty common in her family. She makes a living from cleaning plates dishes during religious events in her hill community.

She also lives from asking food from people around. Her two grown up children also struggling with their income, thus they can’t afford to support her.

Grandma Sai, 84 years old. She lives alone. Her children got into inheritance conflict, therefore the grandmother has been rejected, leading her to live alone. Though her age, she keeps living her years age longing for reunion. Sadly to say, her children prefer separation.

Due to her eyes and her age, she can’t make a living from her physical labor. She depends on people give. One of her children regularly feeds her.

Grandma Yong, 78 years old. She said she has many kids but many died. She doesn’t have a house to live. She depends on her children’s accommodation every now and then.

It looks like she has only one working eye ball. It is hard to see from her sunglasses.

Here is a 13 year old boy , Sopheak. He lives with his widower father who works from hands to mouth to feed Sopheak and his other siblings. He had 4 but one died. His mom died when he was 10. People said that his family only had 40 USD when his mom had to use it for maternity service. Unfortunately, she couldn’t make it but only a beautiful infant.
