MORE ABOUT OUR ENGLISH AND MATHS MODULE

MORE ABOUT OUR MONEY MANAGEMENT MODULE

English and maths are important life skills and we do our best to make sure the skills you’re developing in class are relevant to helping in your course and everyday life. From letter writing in English to working with money and calculating finances in maths, we will do our best to give you the confidence and skills to succeed in life.

During the course you will learn the importance of managing money, the benefits of a personal budget and where you would go if you got into debt. The module will give you the skills and confidence to understand your payslip and how to allocate your earnings for things such as rent and food etc.

Did you know?

For students under the age of 19 it is a Government requirement that you keep working towards these core GCSEs if you haven’t already achieved them.

8

MORE ABOUT OUR CAREER PLANNING MODULE Throughout the course you will be taught how to look for jobs, how to fill in application forms and the overall interview process. You will be given the skills to plan and progress into employment successfully. Each student will be guided through a structured process that will enable them to apply for jobs, attend interviews and gain some experience in a functioning workplace.

MORE ABOUT OUR ENTERPRISE PROJECT AND CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS As a student you will examine what enterprise is. As part of a team you will then plan, deliver and review an enterprise project. By taking part in these units you will gain skills you never realised you had. You will also gain a vast amount of experience that will be invaluable when progressing forward for interviews and future job opportunities.

Evan wins The Prince’s Trust Student of the Year! Since starting the Prince’s Trust Achieve course Evan has come on leaps and bounds! For various reasons Evan had been out of education since year 8, but the tutors would never have known that from the positive, have-a-go attitude they displayed from the get-go! Every piece of work that Evan has been given, they have put every ounce of effort into it. Evan has completed a range of work experience placements during the time on the Prince’s Trust course, one being at the Salvation Army, where they received amazing feedback from the mentor there. As part of the celebrations for the Coronation of King Charles III Evan was asked to lead part of a prayer at Durham Cathedral, which they did without hesitation. Evan also undertook the enterprise unit where they came up with the idea of selling hot drinks on an evening to parents taking their children to football practice. Again, with no hesitation Evan stood out in the freezing cold and raised money which they decided to donate to Women’s Aid.

10

Evan has hugely benefited from college life, which has given them structure and enabled them to meet new people. Evan has gained new friends within college, even though, at the start of the year, they were quite reserved and hadn’t previously had the best educational experience. Evan is always willing to help and offer support to other peers. In terms of Evan’s progression after the Prince’s Trust, they are planning to start the Public Service course at Middlesbrough College. Evan, massive well done on your journey during the Prince’s Trust Achieve course!

She then successfully worked through BTEC qualifications in Travel and Tourism and is now embarking on her second year degree in Aviation and Tourism.
