The King’s Trust Achieve course is held at Stockton Riverside College and Redcar and Cleveland College. The course offers a calm learning environment where students can learn new skills and unleash their potential. The Achieve course is designed for all students aged between 14-19 years old looking for a college course that will fit their specific needs.

Meet the Achieve Team! The Achieve programme promotes a flexible approach, using relevant, experiential learning to support young people to achieve a range of personal and employability skills and gain qualifications. Young people work together as a group on practical learning projects, which are designed to boost their confidence, improve self-esteem, attainment, behaviour and attendance.

Undertaking an Enterprise Project
Learners will examine what an enterprise is. They will plan, deliver and review their own enterprise project.
Preparing for the World of Work
The aim of this unit is for the learner to start to prepare for the world of work.
Experiencing the world of work
This unit guides learners through a work experience placement.
Presentation Skills
Learners will plan and deliver a presentation to an audience.
Teamwork Skills
Learners will demonstrate how to work in a team. An insight will be gained into the advantages of working in a team and the art of providing constructive feedback.
Digital Skills
This unit supports learners use of digital technology to enhance skills and to use the internet safety.
Wellbeing Healthy Eating
This unit explores the benefits of a balanced diet and develop independent living skills.
Wellbeing Physical Activity
This unit enables learners to explore and understand the benefits of being physically active as part of a healthy lifestyle. Learners will take part in physical activities.
Wellbeing Unit
In this unit, the learner will look at and explore strategies to build resilience and help young people understand what mental health and emotional wellbeing is and how it can impact their lives.
Interpersonal and Selfmanagement Skills
This unit examines the importance of different communication methods. It looks at how students deal will situations that cause them stress.
Sustainability
The unit aims to introduce learners to key issues in the natural world and encourage them to consider their role as an individual in making sustainable choices.
Community Impact
A community project is undertaken as a team/ group. The aim of this unit is for the learner to plan, complete and review a project in the wider community.
Project Based Learning
The aim of this unit is to enable learners, working as groups or as individuals, to investigate and work on a problem, challenge or area of interest. 7

MORE ABOUT OUR MONEY MANAGEMENT MODULE
English and maths are important life skills and we do our best to make sure the skills you’re developing in class are relevant to helping in your course and everyday life. From letter writing in English to working with money and calculating finances in maths, we will do our best to give you the confidence and skills to succeed in life.
During the course you will learn the importance of managing money, the benefits of a personal budget and where you would go if you got into debt. The module will give you the skills and confidence to understand your payslip and how to allocate your earnings for things such as rent and food etc.

For students under the age of 19 it is a Government requirement that you keep working towards these core GCSEs if you haven’t already achieved them.

MORE ABOUT OUR CAREER PLANNING MODULE Throughout the course you will be taught how to look for jobs, how to fill in application forms and the overall interview process. You will be given the skills to plan and progress into employment successfully. Each student will be guided through a structured process that will enable them to apply for jobs, attend interviews and gain some experience in a functioning workplace.
MORE ABOUT OUR ENTERPRISE PROJECT AND CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS As a student, you will explore the concept of enterprise. As part of a team you will then plan, deliver and review an enterprise project. By taking part in these units you will gain skills you never realised you had. You will also gain a vast amount of experience that will be invaluable when progressing forward for interviews and future job opportunities.

From Challenge to Celebration: Grace’s Inspiring Journey to Achievement Grace’s school experience was far from straightforward. In her early years, she often felt misunderstood and struggled in environments that didn’t suit her needs. A move to a calmer primary school helped her thrive, and she left Year 6 with excellent results — showing what she could achieve when supported. Secondary school brought new difficulties. Busy corridors, large classes, and constant noise became overwhelming, leading to periods of non‑attendance and further school changes. Over time, the pressure affected her confidence and wellbeing, and leaving school at the end of Year 11 was a particularly difficult moment for her. But Grace’s story is one of remarkable resilience. With support around her, she slowly began rebuilding her confidence. She was encouraged to join The Prince’s Trust Team Programme — a step she now describes as life-changing. There, she began to see her own strengths again, found structure and purpose, and realised she had a future she could look forward to.

In September 2024, Grace joined the Achieve programme, embracing it with determination from day one. Despite facing ongoing challenges, she attended consistently, completed her coursework, and became a friendly, positive presence in the group. She formed friendships she once thought were impossible and worked hard to improve her mental health and confidence. One of her proudest accomplishments was completing a six‑month work placement with The Prince’s Trust Team. The experience helped her discover a passion for supporting others and inspired her to pursue a career in health and social care. She now plans to continue her studies at Stockton Riverside College. Grace’s progress and commitment were recognised at the Stockton Riverside College Celebration of Achievement Awards, where she received a well‑deserved award celebrating how far she has come. Today, Grace stands as a brilliant example of how courage, support, and belief in oneself can lead to real and lasting change — and her future is bright.

The achieve course allowed me to gain new skills and knowledge. While on the course, I also gained some work experience on my placement. The program and the amazing tutors helped me decide my next steps and I am now enjoying studying Level 2 Health & Social Care at Stockton Riverside College.

Progression Opportunities Learners from The King’s Trust Achieve Programme utilise the skills and qualifications gained to move onto positive destinations suited to their individual aspirations and pathways. 83% of learners on The King’s Trust Programme move onto a positive destination such as: • Employment • A vocational further education course • A structured voluntary opportunity • Apprenticeship • Higher Education
WORK RELATED EXPERIENCE All learners on The King’s Trust Achieve Programme undertake work related experience with local employers. Their placement fulfils a unit qualification as well as providing young people with vital workplace skills and experience to enhance their CV and aid positive progression. Learners also gain a reference from successfully completing their placements.
