Are we ready for a new year filled with countless things to do? As we start 2026, some of us make resolutions to stay or get fit. So we are continuing with Running on Tamarac every 2nd Saturday of each month from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at Tephford Park and I’ve added another free Move with the Mayor workout each month. The first quarter classes are: • Beat Burners on Wednesday, January 7th at 7:00 p.m. (Tamarac Community Center – TCC) • Strength & Tone on Tuesday, January 20th at 7:00 p.m. (Tamarac Park – TPK)

On Jan. 31st, please join me at 10:30 a.m. at Veterans Park for the dedication of the Liberty Tree to commemorate America’s 250th Anniversary. This tribute from the Sons of the American Revolution will honor our Veterans and patriots who have served and preserve our freedom. We’ll celebrate fantastic music by a Capella group, the Miamians, and light refreshments. On Saturday, February 21st, it is time for the 2026 FurEver Friends Pet Expo from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Tamarac Park. This family-friendly event will feature pet CPR demonstrations, vendors, pet parade, and the chance to adopt your next dog, cat, or bird (or two of one or one of each)! Pets on leashes are encouraged to attend. With time ﬂying, we are back to Daylight Savings Time on Sunday, March 8th, so please be sure to move your clocks ahead before you go to bed on Saturday night! I trust you all had a great holiday season, and I hope you spent time with your family and friends. This is my first newsletter of the New Year, so firstly, let me wish everyone a happy and healthy 2026.

Looking back at 2025, I’m thrilled to share the incredible success of our recent events, Tamarac for the Cure and the Pink Heroes Gala, which brought together our community to raise awareness for Breast Cancer. As the proud visionary, I was honored to see our efforts come to life, and I’m grateful to everyone who joined us for this important cause. We were especially thrilled to welcome Olympic Gold Medalist and World Champion, Yohan Blake, who brought an extra dose of star power to our events. Our initiatives did not go unnoticed, garnering more than 120,000 online views, amplifying awareness about our mission and the meaningful impact of our events. One of the standout moments was The Pink Heroes Gala, where we proudly honored two extraordinary women: media mogul Dr. Nadine Blair and entrepreneur mogul and philanthropist Dr. Trisha Bailey, owner of Bailey’s Pharmacy and Bailey’s

Medical Equipment & Supplies, with a location right here in our beautiful city of Tamarac. Both trailblazing women received prestigious awards from local and federal elected oﬃcials, recognizing their remarkable contributions and unwavering service to our community. A heartfelt thank you goes to Dr. Trisha Bailey for her generous support, which helped secure a custom art piece created by local artist Orel Ferguson of Uncut Glass Pictures. The proceeds from this piece will go directly toward supporting our local Veterans, creating a tangible and lasting impact on their lives. Looking ahead, we will be hosting our first goalsetting retreat of the year. During this meeting, we will discuss how we will move our priorities for East Tamarac forward. Again, I want to wish you a Happy New Year and I look forward to serving you again this year and beyond!

Celebrating the TEED Program One of the most meaningful accomplishments of 2025 was the launch of the Tamarac Economic Empowerment Dividend (TEED) program, an initiative I am deeply proud to have created. TEED reﬂects our commitment to direct community investment and to meeting residents where they are with real support that makes a difference. The program provides qualifying District 2 residents with monthly financial assistance for six months to help manage everyday expenses.

It is supported through District Funds generated by developer contributions, ensuring that community development directly benefits the residents who make Tamarac the thriving community it is today. A Year Full of Community & Connection 2025 was a vibrant year filled with events that brought us together including festivals, neighborhood gatherings, civic meetings, cultural celebrations, resource fairs, and more. These moments of connection reﬂect the spirit of Tamarac: neighbors supporting neighbors, families building memories, and a community that values coming together. Happy New Year! I hope you enjoyed the holiday season and feel as energized as I do for the months ahead. The last six months was a powerful reminder of what happens when we center our work on compassion, innovation, and community.

This year’s legislative work was especially meaningful. I spearheaded the City’s anti-bullying and anti-hate legislation, which led to the creation of the Tamarac Be Kind Movement—a citywide effort promoting respect, empathy, and unity. I also proudly voted to keep the millage rate ﬂat, ensuring residents were not burdened by higher taxes.

My Breaking Barriers Health Initiative provided essential preventive care to families across District 3. Through partnerships with Baptist Health’s Christine E. Lynn MammoVan and AAA Urgent Care, we delivered more than 20 critical breast-health screenings, along with 12 back-to-school and sports physicals—ensuring our residents, especially our youth, have access to the care they need to stay healthy.

I championed a major transparency reform to the City’s Zoning Pre-Application Neighborhood Meeting process. The updated ordinance expands resident notification—requiring individual notices for townhome, condominium, and timeshare communities. This change ensures residents receive earlier, clearer information and have a stronger voice in development affecting their neighborhoods.

The holiday season brought another moment of service through our Thanksgiving Gobble Gift Card Giveaway, which supported 250 families across District 3. Seeing the gratitude of parents, seniors, and working families reminded me why every act of service matters.

A significant financial achievement came through BSO contract negotiations, where I helped secure a model that eliminates separate billing for special details—delivering long-term savings for taxpayers.

As we move forward, I remain committed to working for YOU! I hope to see you at the K.I.N.D. Community Bike Ride on January 17th. Let’s start 2026 strong! s we begin a new year, I want to take a moment to reﬂect on all that we experienced and accomplished together in 2025. I am truly grateful for the connection, resilience, and community spirit that continue to define District 4 and the City of Tamarac. This past year brought meaningful improvements across District 4, made possible through intentional advocacy, collaboration, and a strong commitment to delivering results for residents. One of the most visible projects has been the progress at the Old Winn-Dixie Plaza. Through continued engagement and persistence, this long-standing concern is now moving toward becoming a revitalized space the community can once again take pride in. Street beautification also took center stage this year, with new landscaping improvements introduced to enhance curb appeal and bring fresh life to our neighborhoods. Another major milestone was the construction of the new wall along Southgate and NW 81st. This improvement reﬂects a direct response to resident concerns, providing both enhanced

aesthetics and an added sense of security. On the east side of District 4, long-awaited street repaving became a reality—improving roadway conditions and making daily travel safer and more convenient for residents. Public safety remained a top priority throughout the year. Through focused efforts and strong partnerships, lighting throughout District 4 was repaired or replaced to improve visibility in key areas. We also welcomed the installation of speed cameras, along with an increased presence from the Broward Sheriff ’s Oﬃce, to address speeding concerns and reinforce safety in our neighborhoods. As we welcome 2026, I wish you and your loved ones a healthy, joyful, and peaceful New Year. I remain fully committed to listening, advocating and working together. arn your certification in two crucial lifesaving skills through CPR/AED courses offered by Tamarac Fire Rescue. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, better known as CPR, empowers you to assist individuals experiencing breathing diﬃculties or cardiac arrest. Automated external defibrillators (AED) are emergency medical devices that automatically diagnose life-threatening cardiac conditions and shock the heart to restore its normal rhythm. Advance registration is required by visiting TamaracFireRescue.org/cpr-first-aid. ynn Caggiano has been a joyful part of the Tamarac Historical Society since 2013. As a former CPA, she’s happy to share her accounting expertise as the Society’s treasurer for 11 years. Lynn’s always ready with creative ideas, thoughtful suggestions and a helping hand at every event. With her love of Tamarac’s history, her background as an elementary school teacher and her lifelong passion for historical heritage, she fits right in with the Tamarac Historical Society.

The program seeks to recognize women during Women’s History Month who live, own a business or work in the City of Tamarac. They should have successfully demonstrated a willingness to serve and have made a significant impact on women in the City outside of their paid employment or business responsibilities. District Commissioners will make their selections from nominees living or working in their districts. The Mayor will make her selection from all nominations submitted.

Nominees must: • Be a resident, own a business or work in the City of Tamarac. • Demonstrate a commitment to the City of Tamarac by sharing their skills, time and talents in ways that benefit women outside of their professional obligations and fosters growth and development. TAMARAC CITY COMMISSION APPOINTS MARLON BOLTON AS VICE MAYOR

uring the City of Tamarac’s Regular Commission Meeting on Dec. 10, District 1 Commissioner Marlon Bolton was unanimously appointed as the City’s Vice Mayor for a one-year term ending in December 2026. Vice Mayor Bolton, who has served on the Commission since 2016, previously held this role in 2019 and 2022. He has championed key initiatives such as the Ruth Bader Ginsburg Commission on the Status of Women and the Medal of Honor civic award and is an active member of the National Black Caucus of Local and Elected Oﬃcials. Tamarac participates with six other cities to host household hazardous waste and e-waste drop-off events for residents. These events offer a convenient and responsible way to properly dispose of certain hazardous household items. You’re invited to take part in any of the upcoming events mentioned below. Please remember to bring proof of residency. A BRIGHT BEGINNING: THE STORY OF AMERICAN EAGLE ACADEMY

ach morning at American Eagle Academy, a young child walks into a bright, welcoming classroom filled with familiar faces and inviting activities. After hanging up their backpack, they find their spot on the story-time rug, settle in and begin their day surrounded by care, curiosity and encouragement. Moments like these reﬂect the true heart of American Eagle Academy, a nurturing place where children grow, explore and feel right at home. For years, the Academy has served as a second home for families, growing from a small neighborhood preschool into a modern, nurturing educational community. Its philosophy is simple but powerful: children learn best when they feel loved, encouraged and excited to explore. That philosophy comes to life every day through handson learning, purposeful play and social-emotional development woven into every activity. American Eagle Academy serves children from infancy through age 12, offering infant care, preschool, VPK, before-and after-care and yearround camps. Families appreciate that everything children need to learn and thrive is right on campus. Modern features like a STEAM lab, computer area, library and even a swimming pool for summer programs set the Academy apart. TAMARAC’S HOLIDAY RECAP Tamarac’s 2025 holiday season brought in festive experiences for all ages! On Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 27, 2,500 registered runners, trotters and walkers participated in the annual Tamarac Turkey Trot 5K. The morning included an awards presentation and an athletic exhibitor hall. Kicking off December, the City welcomed the return of Santa’s Community Ride, the festive experience offered for elves-in-training to track Santa’s sleigh in real-time as he made special stops throughout the City. On Saturday, December 6, the annual Holiday Lighting Celebration began with the arrival of Santa on a decorated holiday boat! Guests enjoyed pictures with costumed characters, light refreshments from food trucks, and live musical performances by renowned artists Myron Butler, Orale Johnson and Javis Mays. Dazzling holiday lights were on display for the annual Winter Wonderland celebration. This enchanting event included hands-on holiday-themed arts and crafts for kids, photo opportunities with Santa and inflatable rides. As the holiday celebrations began to wind down, Santa Calus joined Tamarac’s pet owners and pups for the City’s annual Paws with Claus Holiday Paw-Ty. Residents and their four-legged friends enjoyed a Holiday Hound Contest, pups played in designated pet areas and the Humane Society of Broward County provided on-site pet adoptions.
