ESWI is deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friend and Associate Member, Janet McElhaney. She was a champion in her research on geriatric care and prevention of acute respiratory disease for older adults. Numerous awards attest to her supreme competence in the field. She was a mentor to many and a great colleague to us all. She will be deeply missed. The European Scientific Working group on Influenza (ESWI) is a group of key scientific experts in influenza who have joined forces to reduce the burden of Respiratory Virus Infections in Europe.
