Two sessions of the four-day afternoon camp for K-8th grades sold out last year. Deena Ellson, former Palm Valley Community Center Coordinator, comments: “These camps have always been an exciting experience for our Palm Valley Community Center members and the surrounding community. It has always been a joy to have them here.”
This summer, the camp has added a curriculum for middle schoolers.“We’re excited to do more advanced projects with the older kids,” Science
Mary. “I love combining science with Ms. Betsy’s creative art projects and Ms. Shelly’s games and skits.”
“I teach students how to hold themselves confidently, make eye contact, project their voices,” shares Ms. Shelly, aka Shelly Smith. “We dance, act, and do improv. Improv, by the way, improves conversational skills!”
The three teachers have amassed a loyal following at schools throughout Goodyear and Litchfield Park. “You have sparked such creativity in my son and you have given him so much confidence,” says one parent about ColorWheels.
A busy mom and local business owner, Elizabeth Trier, comments: “The three leaders are an inspiring group of ladies who are kind, creative, and know how to make learning fun.”
This summer’s two themes are: Race for Survival (June 12-15, 1 pm - 4 pm), where campers will learn about amazing animal adaptations, and Wild Adventure (June 26-29, 1 pm - 4 pm). For more information, visit ALittleDramaOnline.com, ScienceMary.org, or ColorWheelsAZ.com.
