Layer properties manager Displays all layers and layer properties

Layers palette can be found in the home menu

I can switch to different layers with the above drop down menu.

Layer 0 is a standard layer - Try not to use it or use it only for construction lines. The line weight for this layer is 0.25 and the colour is always white.

If I draw any objects in layer 0 I can also move them to another layer by selecting the objects and then clicking on preferred layer. This will also affect the colour.

Defpoints – This layer holds the definition points for the dimensions and cannot be made to print. The layer is automatically created.

After drawing one line I used the offset command to repeat lines. I wanted to have a gap of 1000mm between the lines so this was useful.

The grid is 1400mm by 2100mm. I lengthened some of the lines by 500mm to make it easier for me to read.

Array places a specified number of copies in a line.

Copying without overlaying on an existing line Select the number of objects you want to copy and point of displacement. The remaining copies are placed beyond that point. This is very useful if you don’t want to overlay existing lines.

Fillet – Rounds and fillets the edges of objects To Execute § § §

200mm Square

The square can be used in drawings to separate different areas. E.g. door frame.

MA – MATCHPROP – This command applies the properties of a selected object to other objects for example colour, line weight and others.

Doors – The Standard size for doors is 100mm/800mm

Week 8: Continuing with school drawing To save time I can copy doors and place them in the appropriate places.

The floor plan is now starting to take shape and all the entrances can be easily identified.

Layout & Printing

Click on Model at the bottom to switch between the Model, Layout 1 and Layout 2

Another way to access the different Layouts is by clicking the ‘Quick view drawings tab at the bottom right of the page’ to access them.

Right click on layout 1 tab at the bottom of the page then choose Page setup manager.

Then click on modify.

The first thing to do is check the plot size.

This page should appear.

Printing To print on the first floor, print using ‘Student Follow You’ and ‘Adobe PDF’ printing preferences. On the ground floor choose T1100 for room HT012 and DJ500 for room HT005.

Setting printing colour To print out in black and white choose ‘monochrome’. Default is normally set to ‘None’.

After setting the colour, click on Layout and choose what to plot.

Make sure the Scale is adjusted to 1:1 as this may alter and ruin the plan in different formats of other programs when editting the print. This is where a vast majority of printing errors occur.
