Fishing: Overview

Located on the northern end of Jurassic Lake, our 40,000-acre estancia has exclusive access to miles and miles of Jurassic Lake shoreline, including several secluded bays that o er protection from the wind. The stories you’ve heard are true. Even a “small” sh here is bigger than the largest rainbow most anglers have caught elsewhere. Jurassic Lake is incredibly rich in aquatic insects, and the trout here gorge themselves on scuds (freshwater shrimp) and reach impossible sizes. Ten-to-twenty-pound trout are caught regularly. And did we mention that many of these trout are caught while sight shing? Read that again, its true. With the possibility of shing small intimate creeks to the beautiful freestone Barrancoso River to the world-famous Jurassic Lake, our lodge is one of the world’s premier y shing adventures.

Unlike other operations in the Strobel area, Lago Strobel Lake challenges visiting anglers to sh new beats every day of the week, combining varied locations and using di erent techniques targeting the best shing with the most rewarding methods.

Strobel Lake

After several seasons of hard work, we can now take you along more than 25 km of the pristine waters of Strobel Lake. The scenery is breathtaking and the shing, out of this world! Wind can become a factor, so protected locations are crucial. You will be able to access many bays and protected spots such as Monsters Bay, Camelot Bay, Finger Bay, Moro Bay, Tasmania Bay, Sea Bay, Puesto Bay, The Aquarium and Dry Fly Bay, among the most famous spots. Fishing these sheltered waters ensures you enjoy outstanding sight shing action even in the hardest of conditions.

Barrancoso River

In order to understand the advantages of shing at LAGO STROBEL LODGE, it is essential to understand the geography of the area, and the Barrancoso river in particular, so as not to be deceived by misleading publicity by a few speci c out tters with a short term mentality. With a total length of about 50 km, it is important to note that only the last stretch holds consistently big sh, especially in the prime months. This last stretch of the last 10 km of this astonishing river, are the ones that go through LAGO STROBEL LODGE (both banks!), with our property ending a short distance from the last 3 / 4 pools of the river before it drains into Strobel lake.

Without a doubt, one of the highlight programs at our Estancia is Barrancoso River which is the one and an only tributary of Strobel Lake.

As mentioned before, this beautiful freestone river runs for more than 10 km through our Estancia in the single best part of it!!!! There are no other parts of the river like this one, and there are no other trophy waters like ELV waters. Only a handful of anglers staying at LAGO STROBEL LODGE, get the chance to sh the best pools and runs of this one of a kind river, which many experts consider to be the very best wild rainbow trout trophy water in the world!!!!

LAGO STROBEL LODGE shes this dream-like river with its crystal clear waters and amazing runs of huge trout in 3 di erent sections -upper, middle and lower. With the addition of 2 hanging bridges over the river, our guests are able to access even the most remote pools o ering outstanding angling and incredible vistas.

Smaller Lakes And Lagoons

By northern and central Patagonia standards, many of the so-called “lagoons” at Estancia Laguna Verde would fall under the category of lakes, which is actually what they are!

LODGE is an aspect many times overlooked in the quest of catching some of the largest rainbow trout in the world!

Nothing to blame or argue about it, though. But we feel obliged to mention that these lakes can o er some of the most exciting stillwater shing for resident brown trout, brook and rainbow trout in Argentina, which, combined with Moro creek, make an awesome program, any day of the week.

Accommodations Lodge

In an isolated area of Patagonia, LAGO STROBEL LODGE pairs one of the world’s nest y shing adventures with comfortable accommodations. Our lodge is of the classic Patagonian estancia style, but rebuilt with the traveling angler in mind. Our spacious and scenic main room contains a full bar, stocked y tying desk, satellite TV, and a beautiful panoramic view of Strobel lake. Adjacent to the main lodge, 4 double bedrooms o er plenty of space, private bathrooms and comfortable beds. Other amenities include Wi-Fi access, satellite phone, and laundry service provided twice weekly.
