For over 25 years, Estal has been more than a company — it has been a way of understanding how design, innovation and sustainability can transform something as everyday as packaging into a positive force for people and the planet.

Looking back, what makes me proudest is not only the bottles, closures or collections we have created, but the relationships we have built: with the brands that trust us, with the designers who inspire us, with the suppliers who walk alongside us, and above all, with the team that makes it possible every day.

Sustainability is not a trend for us — it is a promise to the future. Each new idea is born from the desire to reduce our footprint while creating beauty that lasts. From Wild Glass, made with 100% recycled glass, to eco-design projects that use fewer resources without losing essence, our journey is one of constant reinvention.

Key sustainability results Reducing Our Operational Footprint 100% renewable electricity was achieved across our facilities, cutting our dependence on fossil fuels in our day to day operations, enabling us to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by more than 25% in just two years, with a target of near-zero emissions by 2027.

Sustainable innovation Eco-Design Our team works with an eco-design focus, developing innovative products that reduce materials, encourage reuse, and use sustainable solutions such as Wild Glass® (100% PCR recycled glass) or Corkcoal®. We also promote recycled and recyclable secondary packaging as well as more efficient logistics to reduce emissions.

Wild Glass® With Wild Glass®, we embrace a circular vision for glass packaging: made from 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) glass, each piece reenters the production cycle, reducing the need for virgin materials.

This innovation extends beyond beverages to gourmet, perfumery, and home-fragrance sectors, bringing sustainability and character to every design.

By using fully recycled glass, Wild Glass® achieves a substantial reduction in carbon footprint, while maintaining the aesthetic of natural imperfections and a crafted, authentic feel.

It embodies our commitment to design excellence and environmental responsibility — proof that sustainability and beauty can coexist in every detail.

Corkcoal® With Corkcoal®, we introduce a new era in stopper design — combining natural cork and activated charcoal to deliver superior performance with a lower environmental impact.

The activated charcoal component neutralizes unwanted substances and allows for greater flexibility in cork granule size and colour, reducing waste and avoiding the intensive treatments typically required in cork manufacturing.

Unlike traditional cork, Corkcoal® is fully compatible with clear spirits, maintaining the integrity and purity of the liquid without altering its appearance or aroma. Its use extends beyond the beverage industry to gourmet, perfumery, and homefragrance packaging, wherever a premium closure aligns with sustainability and design excellence.

Impact measurement Life Cycle Assessments Innovation must always go hand in hand with data and transparency. That’s why we’ve carried out several Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) with independent entities, allowing us to understand the real environmental impact of our products and improve continuously.

One of the most significant cases is our Wild Glass® LCA study, that showed a 27% reduction in CO₂ compared to standard flint glass. We’ve also analyzed Corkcoal® and Incoal® versus conventional synthetic stoppers, with very positive results in terms of sustainability.

Currently, we partner with Inedit Innov Barcelona (website) who support us in the development of our LCAs. Through a license for their EDIT tool, we are able to calculate the carbon footprint of our products. We continue expandingthis capability with the goal of producing full in-house LCA reports and predict CO2 emissions for future concepts. With that, we’ll be able to design more responsible packaging aligned with our environmental commitment, our goal is to provide our customers with the highest level of transparency.

Sustainable Logistics and Operational Efficiency Sustainable logistics practices are applied throughout the supply chain.

This includes route optimization, multimodal transport, biofuel use, and collaboration with committed logistic partners.

Environmental impact is minimized through decentralized warehouses, with operational hubs in the UK, USA, Mexico, and France, plus a distributor network in Spain and Europe that reduces final transport distances. In addition, we establish local storage agreements directly at factories, cutting intermediate trips and improving overall efficiency.

We further apply Green Logistics principles by minimizing shipments, prioritizing pallet-based deliveries, using recycled and recyclable packaging, and implementing returnable layers and pallets — achieving both operational efficiency and a lower environmental footprint.

Commitment to the SDGs We embrace the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda wich serve as a key guide for building a fairer and more responsible future. We contribute to the SDGs through different actions: promoting the use of renewable energy (SDG 7), fostering quality employment and innovation (SDGs 8 and 9), developing responsible production and consumption solutions such as Wild Glass® or Corkcoal® (SDG 12), and actively working to reduce emissions and protect terrestrial and marine ecosystems (SDGs 13, 14, and 15). We do all this in collaboration with our partners and clients, because only through solid alliances (SDG 17) can we generate real positive impact.

Ethics, governance and good practices Corporate Culture and Governance To ensure sustainability is part of our corporate culture and the daily lives of everyone in the company, we work with policies like our Good Practices Manual, that guides our team in adopting responsible habits in their work environment.

In our offices, we implement recycling and waste management measures, promoting efficient and environmentally friendly workspaces. We also provide continuous training in sustainability, so every employee understands their role in the transition to a more responsible model. This is complemented by our 2025 Sustainable Mobility Policy, which promotes public transport, shared and active mobility (cycling, walking), teleworking, and electric vehicles, while encouraging remote meetings and responsible travel. Through these initiatives, Estal fosters a healthier workplace and a steadily smaller environmental footprint.

In terms of governance, we have developed a strong sustainability culture across all our departments through dedicated sustainability policies, including those for Marketing, Purchasing, Logistics, Eco-design, and Mobility, among others.

Code of Ethics We have a Code of Ethics and Conduct that sets out the principles governing our business activity: respect for human rights, transparency, integrity, and responsibility. The document includes zero tolerance for corruption, bribery, fraud, and money laundering, as well as measures for preventing conflicts of interest and protecting information. We also have a Confidential Reporting Channel that guarantees the protection of anyone reporting potential violations.

Diversity Equal opportunities and diversity are essential to our corporate culture. Through our Equality Plan, in line with European equality and non-discrimination directives, we drive actions to ensure an inclusive workplace free from discrimination based on gender, age, origin, sexual orientation, identity, disability, or other personal circumstances.

Looking ahead Our Vision for 2026 and Beyond

Estal is reinforcing its sustainability commitment, focusing on product innovation, eco-design, carbon footprint measurement and reporting, and the implementation of increasingly responsible solutions and processes.

Our milestones for 2026 include reaching GOLD status in EcoVadis, obtaining independent certification for Wild Glass®, and launching a comprehensive decarbonization plan aligned with SBTi targets. Estal will also continue to advance in full alignment with the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), taking it as a key reference to further accelerate our sustainability leadership.

Looking ahead, Estal aims to strengthen and expand its leadership in sustainable innovation, moving beyond regulatory requirements to set higher standards in eco-design, circularity, and transparency. Our ambition is to inspire change across the value chain — being a driving force for progress, not a follower — and to consolidate our position as a benchmark in responsible and visionary packaging.

A message from our sustainability team We have always beliebed that sustainability is not a destination but a shared journey. With this report, we wanted to transparently show the progress we’ve achieved, the challenges we still face, and how we work to reduce our impact, innovate responsibly, and create value across our collaboration network.

But sustainability goes beyond Estal. We see, and welcome, a profound transformation in the packaging industry— one that balances creativity, functionality, and environmental responsibility. Glass already embodies many of the answers: it is infinitely recyclable, safe, and timeless.

Now we must accelerate the energy transition, ensuring that renewable energy, technological innovation, and the industrial commitment become the real engines of decarbonization.
