Below are a few tips to help you prepare before a storm.  Review your insurance policies to make sure your needs are still being met and your premiums are up-todate.  Ensure copies of important papers such as insurance policies, birth certificates, and other documentation are kept in a waterproof bag in a secure location such as a safe deposit box or home safe.  Perform routine home maintenance. For example, hurricane shutters can be checked for proper anchors, screws, panels, and other maintenance.  Stocking supplies now by picking up an extra non-perishable food item each week when grocery shopping.  Recognize vulnerabilities and make sure you have considered those in your emergency plans. This may include family, children, pets, and the elderly.  Talk to those close to you about personal safety and communication plans. Regardless of the number of the storms forecasted, it only takes one to disrupt you and your family.

Apple Upsidedown Cake - From the Moscoso’s grandma cookbook
Mix together ½ cup brown sugar and ¼ cup butter and spread on bottom of pie pan and baking dish. Add enough peeled and sliced apples to cover generously. Sprinkle with cinnamon and cover with cake mixture below. Bake in 375 F oven for 10 minutes, then reduce heat to 325 F and continue baking until cake is done. Remove from oven and invert in plate so applesauce is on top for serving.
Cake Mixture:
• ¼ cup butter • 1 egg • ½ cup milk • 2 tsps. baking powder
• ¾ cup sugar • ¼ tsp salt • 1- 1/3 cups flour
Cream butter and half the sugar gradually. Beat egg with remaining sugar. Combine mixtures. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add alternatively with milk to first mixture. Add vanilla.
Sauce for Cake: • ½ cup sugar • 2 tsps. cinnamon
• 2 tbsps. flour • 1 ¼ cups water
Cook in saucepan, stirring constantly, until thick. Serve hot as sauce for slices of cake.
