BON NADAL Queremos celebrar esta Navidad compartiendo la tradición mallorquina de pintar los Siurells. En este librito podrás pintarlos y recortarlos para decorar tus espacios favoritos.

We want to celebrate this Christmas by sharing the Mallorcan tradition of painting Siurells. In this little book you will be able to draw and cut them out to decorte your favourite spaces.

HISTORIA HISTORY

El Siurell es una pieza cerámica tradicional de Mallorca que cuenta con un silbato adosado, que le da nombre, y fue utilizado como juguete e instrumento musical por los niños y niñas de las familias humildes mallorquinas.

The Siurell is a traditional Majorcan ceramic piece that has a whistle attached, which gives it its name, and was used as a toy and musical instrument by children from humble Majorcan families.

Los modelos pueden representar figuras de personajes reales o fantásticos de la tradición balear; como los campesinos, los gigantes, algunos animales fantásticos y los demonios, entre otros.

The models can represent figures of real or fantastic characters from the Balearic tradition; such as peasants, giants, some fantastic animals and demons, among others.

Estos están hechos con arcilla, blanqueados con cal y decorados a menudo con pinceladas rojas y verdes.

Antiguamente se elaboraban en muchas alfarerías de la isla de Mallorca, la mayoría desaparecidas en la actualidad. Gracias a la creciente demanda turística algunas alfarerías han podido conservar el proceso de fabricación tradicional con materiales naturales y ecológicos.

These are made of clay, whitewashed with lime, and often decorated with red and green brushstrokes.

Formerly they were made in many potteries on the island of Mallorca, most of which have disappeared today. Thanks to the growing tourist demand, some potteries have been able to preserve the traditional manufacturing process with natural and ecological materials.

El siurell se convierte en la actualidad en una pieza decorativa para muchos hogares mallorquines, una pieza emblemática que muestra y acerca la cultura mallorquina a las nuevas generaciones.

The siurell is currently becoming a decorative piece for many Majorcan homes, an emblematic piece that shows and brings Majorcan culture closer to the new generations.

Por ello, hemos querido compartir esta colección de Siurells con los más pequeños de la casa, la mejor manera de celebrar nuestras tradiciones.

For this reason, we wanted to share this collection of Siurells with the smallest of the house, the best way to celebrate our traditions.
