The area is a significant natural reserve known for its rich biodiversity, featuring gallery, dry, deciduous, and secondary forests. It serves as a biological island preserving remnants of El Salvador's original vegetation and is a key site for research in ecology and environmental science. The reserve also offers modern visitor facilities, including an environmental interpretation center that highlights the region's flora and fauna.

Admission: Nationals: $5

The park is usually open from Wednesday to Sunday, as it closes for maintenance on Mondays and Tuesdays.

During the windy season, the park issues a yellow alert due to the risk of fires.

On Thursdays, the park offers a student discount, with admission at half price $2.50. However, students will not receive the $5.00 discount on attractions and must pay the full price.

Inside the park, there is a small store that sells churros starting at $1.00 and also drinks such as water, juice, and soft drinks cost from $0.75. The store does not serve meals, so visitors are advised to bring their own food.

It is important to note that mosquito repellent is not sold in the park due to animal protection regulations, but visitors may bring and use their own if they wish.

Campfires are not allowed in the camping areas; only battery-powered lanterns are permitted.

The Park include bathing and shower areas, as well as open spaces for picnics and recreational activities.
