The 2025-2026 school year marks a milestoneEpiscopal School of Jacksonville’s 60th anniversary. As we recognize this important year, I am filled with immense gratitude and awe for the generations of families, alumni, and friends who have built and sustained this extraordinary school.
Since our founding in 1966, Episcopal has remained steadfast in its mission: to provide a superior academic program within a nurturing Christian environment. This mission has guided us for six decades and across three campuses, shaping the lives of thousands of students who have gone on to lead with purpose, compassion, and integrity. Today, we stand on the shoulders of those who believed deeply in what Episcopal could be—and who gave generously to ensure its growth and longevity.
The 2024-2025 Report of Philanthropy is more than a record of generosity—it is a testament to the enduring commitment of our community. Your gifts make it possible for us to provide transformative educational experiences, maintain beautiful and inspiring campuses, support outstanding faculty, and offer programs that shape both intellect and character. Every contribution, no matter the size, plays a vital role in upholding Episcopal’s tradition of excellence.
I am especially mindful of how our progress is made possible not just by those here today, but by those who came before us—visionary donors whose faith in Episcopal laid the foundation we continue to build upon. Their legacy is evident in every classroom, on every playing field, in every Chapel service, and in every student who walks our halls. Because of them—and because of you—we are not only celebrating six decades of success, but looking also forward with confidence to the decades ahead.
Thank you for believing in Episcopal’s mission, for supporting our students, and for ensuring that this community remains strong and vibrant for generations to come. It is an honor to lead this school in such a historic and hopeful time.
With deepest gratitude,
The Rev. Adam Greene Head of School

Episcopal Thanks the Largura Family
Episcopal opened its newest academic building, Largura Hall, at the Beaches Campus in August. The eight new classrooms help to fulfill the school’s strategic goal of growing to two sections at each grade level, along with having dedicated spaces for Science, Spanish, and Christian Education. Additional improvements to the Beaches Campus include extra parking, an expanded outdoor covered patio, and more field space for recess and Physical Education.
This new building was made possible by a generous lead gift from Whitney and Nick Largura, and support from many members of the Beaches Campus community.
Nick’s family business, Superior Construction, began in 1923 as the J Largura Company, and he is the fourth generation of the Largura family to work in the construction industry. A few of the first projects Superior Construction completed in the 1920’s and 1930’s were schools, post offices, and libraries, so it was a natural fit for Whitney and Nick to support Episcopal in its endeavor for new classrooms. Nick has officially worked at Superior for more than 20 years, but jokes that he used to sneak onto construction sites when he was a kid to pressure wash or clear debris just to learn as much as he could about the business from the ground up.
Married since 2015, Whitney and Nick share a love of all things outdoors, the beach, travel, and family. “I did not grow up in Florida, but in New England. I love the lifestyle here and the opportunities our kids have to enjoy the sunshine and so many outside activities,” said Whitney.
“Whitney and I are thrilled to help where we can,” said Nick. “Philanthropy is contagious, and we hope that our support inspires others to do the same. Episcopal has been great for our kids, and I’m sure it will continue as they move through each grade level. We will be here for a while!”

50th Reunion Scholarship Fund Supports Deserving Students
In 2020, as the Class of 1970 approached their 50th reunion, they began something with lasting impact. In honor of their milestone, they launched a new tradition: the 50th Reunion Scholarship Fund, designed to provide ongoing financial support to deserving Episcopal students. With an initial goal of $50,000, the fund was created as a way for 50th reunion classes to give back in a meaningful and lasting way.
As Episcopal’s first graduating class, the Class of 1970, marked their reunion not only by reflecting on shared memories, but by looking ahead — laying the groundwork for a fund that would grow with each passing year and each celebrating class.
Since then, this tradition has continued. Classes celebrating their 50th reunions have contributed generously, steadily building the fund’s impact. Today, thanks to their collective efforts, the endowed 50th Reunion Fund not only reflects the shared commitment across generations to keep Episcopal accessible to talented students regardless of financial means but also plays a meaningful role in supporting the next generation of Eagles. Episcopal is deeply grateful to all who have contributed, not only for their generosity but also for the spirit of support, continuity, and community that surrounds this milestone reunion.
Parent of Alumni – David Ertrachter
My son, Taylor, attended the Episcopal family of schools from Pre-K through grade 12, beginning with Beaches Episcopal School, before the school merged with Episcopal School of Jacksonville, and then moved onto the Munnerlyn Campus in the seventh grade. Both schools offered an environment with characterbuilding opportunities suitable for his age, contributing positively to Taylor’s development.
After graduating from Episcopal, Taylor pursued higher education at the Florida Institute of Technology (Florida Tech) and graduated in 2021 with a degree in Software Engineering.
I am thankful to have supported Taylor’s educational institutions for the past 22 years as I recognize the experiences and values that were provided to him. The annual fund acknowledges the efforts of the educators, administrators, and community who contributed to the school’s environment for learning and growth.
I am grateful for past donors who paved the way for Taylor, before he even started school. I believe it is my obligation and duty to help pave the way for current and future students so that they are able to experience the true Episcopal way.
There is no doubt that attending Episcopal School of Jacksonville made a lasting effect on Taylor’s life, career, and future.
David Ertrachter, parent to Taylor ’17
Mary Packer Cummings Society
EMMY and FRANK CERVENY
The Mary Packer Cummings Society honors individuals who have provided for the school through deferred gifts such as bequests, life insurance, annuities, and trust agreements. The society is named in honor of Mrs. Cummings, who left the property where Episcopal now stands to St. John’s Cathedral upon her death in 1912. Planned gifts may be directed by the donor to provide unrestricted income or to be used for designated purposes such as endowment, capital improvements or program areas.
Emmy and Frank Cerveny’s involvement with Episcopal spans generations. “Our children were students at Episcopal in the 1980’s, and now our grandchildren are students 40 years later!” said Emmy. “It’s wonderful! Episcopal does such a great job at educating the whole child - not just an artist or an athlete, but both.” The Cerveny family became members of the Mary Packer Cummings Society when they informed Episcopal of a planned gift that the school would receive in the future.
ESJ: What was your first involvement with Episcopal?
We started in 1972 when Frank was called to be Dean of St. John’s Cathedral. There were some great families involved in both the church and school at the time - Haskell, Parks, Winston, Donahoo, etc. At that time the school was in a tough spot financially - debts were coming due, and not enough money was being raised from tuition. We saw real potential, however, and stuck with it. The school made it through those financial challenges and turned the corner into what it would become today.
ESJ: Do you have a favorite memory involving your kids and school?
Baccalaureate, always. It’s such a special service that combines all that’s good about the school - the spiritual, educational, personal, and more. We still love that ceremony today.
ESJ: What changes have you seen with the school over time?
Incredible positive changes! New buildings, growth, people – we used to know so many of our kids’ teachers, as the school was much smaller in the 1980’s, but now it’s much bigger. And of course, now there are lots of little ones running around at the St. Mark’s Campus and the Beaches Campus.
ESJ: What’s it like now as grandparents of current students?
We are happy grandparents who love seeing another generation of our family come through Episcopal. That’s one of the best parts: the long term connections across so many families all over Jacksonville. I sometimes pick our grandchildren up from school, and I love to see all the happy kids there. Some of the boys have crazy haircuts right now, but that’s just the current style. It will change soon!
Episcopal thanks Emmy and Frank Cerveny for their support. For more information about how to join the Mary Packer Cummings Society, please contact Ryan T. Riggs, Director of Major Gifts, riggsr@esj.org or 904396-5751 ext. 1188.
The Lane Family
For Marion Smith Lane ’09 and her husband, Willie Lane, Episcopal has always been an important part of their story. Marion is a proud alumna, and Willie, a former Episcopal student, shares in the family’s long-standing ties to the school. In August 2024, when their children, Wesley and Elliott, began their Episcopal journey at the Beaches Campus, the Lanes were warmly welcomed back into the community.
The Lane family’s commitment to Episcopal extends beyond tradition. Their philanthropy reflects a deep belief in the mission of the school and its impact on future generations. By investing in the Beaches Campus, Marion and Willie are ensuring that Wesley, Elliott, and their peers benefit from the outstanding educational experiences, resources, and community that have defined Episcopal for decades.
Episcopal is grateful to the Lane family for their generosity and vision. Their support exemplifies how alumni and former students carry forward a legacy of giving—strengthening Episcopal today and securing its promise for tomorrow.
LEAVING A LEGACY: THE IMPACT OF GRANDPARENTS
Mary Jane and Jay Trimble
Mary Jane and Jay Trimble’s connection to Episcopal runs generations deep. When their children attended St. Mark’s and Episcopal, they witnessed firsthand how the school nurtures academic curiosity, spiritual grounding, and a spirit of service. Today, they carry that same passion forward as Episcopal grandparents and are eager to give back to the community that shaped their family’s story.
When their three children attended St. Mark’s, Mary Jane and Jay served on the Board of Trustees. “St. Mark’s gave our children the confidence to explore, question, and serve—and now as grandparents, we hope to contribute to a similar experience for all Episcopal students,” said the Trimbles. “We’re proud to join fellow grandparents in supporting this special community.”
On all Episcopal campuses, grandparent participation goes beyond philanthropic support —it’s a cherished tradition that bridges generations. Grandparents provide a unique perspective, sharing wisdom and encouragement while directly enriching student life. The consistent support of our grandparent community underwrites new initiatives, sustains beloved traditions, and reinforces the values of compassion and leadership that define school culture. By investing in the future, grandparent donors help ensure that every child who walks through ESJ’s halls experiences the same depth of opportunity. Thank you to all of our dedicated Episcopal grandparents!

ROCK THE DOCK: BASH 2025RAISES FUNDS AND CREATES COMMUNITY ON THE MUNNERLYN CAMPUS
The Munnerlyn Campus’ annual fundraiser Bash: Rock the Dock took place on March 26 at the beautiful Walton Boathouse. The event hosted parents and friends of ESJ for an evening of live music, delicious food, and generous giving.
Bash is a parent-volunteer run event and met its fundraising goal, netting $50,000 for the school.
Yacht rock music provided by the Bread & Butter Band was underwritten by Heritage Capital Group. Interactive food stations, provided by Chef’s Garden led by Jennifer Earnest ’00, helped set the vibrant tone of the night.
Bash’s fundraising success is driven by ticket sales, a silent auction with “All Things Episcopal,” and selection of marquee auction items. The first Munnerlyn fundraising event was held in 1975, and 50 years later Bash continues to bring the community together and foster a culture of philanthropy at Episcopal.

A Resounding Success on the St. Mark’s Campus
The sixth-annual A Vision for Art fundraising event presented by Northern Trust, held from March 21-24 on the St. Mark’s Campus, drew art enthusiasts, collectors, and community supporters together for a weekend of creativity and philanthropy. The event raised $105,000 for the St. Mark’s Campus, surpassing its fundraising goal.
A Vision for Art showcased an impressive array of artwork, with approximately 200 original pieces sold, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for this beloved event. Featured Artist Mark Carson English captivated guests with his stunning work, and his live painting added excitement to Opening Night. All proceeds from his sales generously supported the North Florida School for Special Education Art Department and Episcopal.
As part of A Vision for Art’s Student Art Series, A Future for Art, St. Mark’s Campus students collaborated with professional artists to create one-of-a-kind pieces featured in an online auction during the Opening Night Celebration. Episcopal’s AP Draw, Paint, Print, and Photography students also had the chance to exhibit and sell their work. A special Monday evening reception celebrated these talented young artists.
A Vision for Art continues to solidify its reputation as a premier event celebrating creativity, generosity, and the transformative power of art.

47th Annual Ortega River Run Unites
ESJ Community and Visitors
The 47th annual Ortega River Run, held on Saturday, February 8, drew 1,655 walkers and runners, all cheered on by ESJ cheerleaders and energized by the music of Episcopal’s pep band. The event, which took place on the St. Mark’s Campus, brought together families and friends for a day full of fun and excitement. The proceeds from the race benefit the school’s financial aid efforts.
The event featured a lively street fair, where children could enjoy balloon art, try their skills in a Game Truck, indulge in sweet treats, and take home fun giveaways.
“We are grateful to all of our sponsors, with a special thanks to our Title Sponsor, W.W. Gay Mechanical Contractor, for their generous support,” said Susan Kwartler, Director of Development for the St. Mark’s Campus during the event. “W.W. Gay’s incredible support has helped transform the Ortega River Run into a cornerstone event for our entire community, proof that when mission meets generosity, incredible things happen.”

Fellowship, Fun, and Fundraising Shine at Beach Bash Speakeasy
The Beaches Campus Parent Social Committee brought the Roaring Twenties to life on February 28, transforming the Petway Family Performance Center into a dazzling speakeasy for Beach Bash. Parents enjoyed an evening of signature cocktails, curated cuisine, and lively piano bar favorites—all while bidding in a spirited online auction.
Thanks to the vision of event chair Samantha Grinney and the dedication of the planning committee, the event exceeded its fundraising goal while providing a memorable night of fellowship and fun. Proceeds directly benefit the Beaches Campus, supporting its Four Pillars: Academics, Athletics, Fine Arts, and Spiritual Life.
In a true show of community spirit, parents also underwrote faculty tickets so every teacher could attend at no cost.
“It was so wonderful to see families join in fellowship with faculty and staff while supporting our school community,” said Jennifer Ketchum, Head of Lower School at the Beaches Campus. “It was such a fun evening, and we are deeply grateful to our hardworking committee for making this night a tremendous success for our campus.”

The Athletic Boosters are dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the athletic experiences and achievements of Episcopal School of Jacksonville students, while encouraging parent involvement in support of the school’s athletic program and its coaches. Through events, initiatives, and resources, the Boosters help foster school spirit and strengthen the student-athlete experience at every level.
Throughout the year, the Boosters sponsor a wide variety of programs and events. They provide funding for “Eagle Appreciation” gifts for all athletes, such as personalized bag tags or bags, rigging wrenches, team dinners, and post-game treats. They also coordinate the design and production of senior athletic banners, host the annual coaches’ appreciation breakfast, and provide recognition lunches for middle school and high school team captains.
The Boosters also enrich the athletic journey by offering educational opportunities, including presentations on strength training and the college recruiting process. They play a key role in celebrating milestones, contributing to the Signing Day ceremony for seniors continuing their sport at the collegiate level and hosting the annual Senior Athletic Banquet honoring athletes and coaches alike.
Through the “Booster Boost” initiative, the Boosters provide funding for sport-specific needs such as speed coach devices for rowing, a soccer rebounder board, a shade tent, and additional storage resources. These contributions, along with ongoing coach and athlete appreciation events, reflect the Boosters’ commitment to ensuring that every Eagle athlete feels supported, recognized, and celebrated.

Erin Peterson, Director of Communications
The Munnerlyn Campus Parents’ Association plays a vital role in strengthening the Episcopal School of Jacksonville community and supporting the school’s mission. Each year, the PA organizes a wide range of events for faculty, staff, and students, including Christmas at Episcopal, seasonal treat days, Faculty and Staff Appreciation, Vision Screening, Lost and Found, and Uniform Recycling.
In addition to these events, the PA invites speakers from the Episcopal community to share their expertise at most meetings, providing parents with opportunities to connect and engage more deeply in school life. The Parents’ Association also contributes in lasting ways by presenting Eagle Wish List items to faculty and staff and supporting Episcopal’s signature fundraising event, Bash. Through its leadership and dedication, the Parents’ Association enriches the Munnerlyn Campus experience, ensuring that students, teachers, and families feel celebrated and supported throughout the year.
FANS Board
Julie Wiggins Sorenson ’98, President
Beth Collins Himes, Vice President Greg Wong, Treasurer
Tracy Morgan and Melanie Hammer, Co-Director of Communications
FANS (Fine Arts Nurturing Students) is a dedicated parent volunteer organization that enhances the fine arts experience for every Episcopal student while enriching the entire ESJ community. By providing essential support to students and faculty, FANS helps ensure that Episcopal’s vibrant arts program continues to inspire creativity, celebrate talent, and bring people together.
Throughout the year, FANS hosts receptions for concerts, gallery openings, theatre productions, and award ceremonies, creating meaningful opportunities for fellowship and celebration. The group also coordinates volunteers to support a wide range of performances—including choral, band, dance, and theatrical productions—while encouraging the community to attend and enjoy the many fine arts events Episcopal offers.
In addition to event support, FANS contributes financial resources that directly benefit students and faculty. This includes discipline-specific workshops and seminars across dance, visual arts, theatre, band, and chorus. Recent contributions have funded new headsets for technical theatre, pedestals for the Berg Gallery, and the purchase of a senior’s artwork to be displayed in the FANS gallery for five years. FANS also proudly supports school-wide performances and experiences, such as helping the Pep Band share school spirit at football games.
Through its commitment and generosity, FANS strengthens Episcopal’s fine arts program and ensures that student creativity is nurtured, showcased, and celebrated across the community.

The group provides opportunities not only for fun and friendship, but also for learning more about student life, the adolescent years, and the Episcopal experience.

The Parents’ Association hosted many fun and exciting events throughout the school year. A well-attended Parents’ Night Out provided parents the opportunity to connect and get involved for the school year. Families also enjoyed the Book Fair, Fall Festival, Daughter Dance, Grandparents’ Day, and the end-of-year Splash Into Summer Party. Faculty and staff were overwhelmed with all the special treats and treasures they received during Teacher Appreciation Week.
In addition to these events, homeroom parents supported teachers and students throughout the school year through class communication, event planning, and more.
St. Mark’s Campus Dads’ Club
Ross Sprague ‘06, President
Justin Allen ‘04, Vice-President
Started in 2022 on the St. Mark’s Campus, the Dads’ Club continued to build momentum for the 2024-2025 school year under the leadership of Ross Sprague ‘06 and Justin Allen ‘04. Along with two socials promoting fellowship, they helped with the Fall Festival, Ortega River Run Pizza Dinner, and provided valuable manpower to assist with the labor involved with setting up for A Vision for Art.
The goal of the Parents’ Association is to create school spirit and a joyful sense of community, organize events, and honor Beaches Campus traditions. During the school year, the PA organized activities that invested in enriching the students’ school experience like Boo Bash, Son Event, and Daughter Dance.
The Parents’ Association also organized monthly lunches for the faculty and staff during professional development days, and teachers felt loved during Teacher Appreciation Week thanks to lunch, morning coffee, flowers, and much more!
The Dads’ Club volunteered during this year’s Boo Bash and helped with snow cones, cotton candy, and monitoring inflatables. They also held meet and greets during the year that concluded with an end of year social at Hanna Park.
“We are extremely grateful to the Parents’ Association and the Dads’ Club for their support of our wonderful campus,” said Jennifer Ketchum, Head of Lower School, Beaches Campus. “Please join me in thanking all those who volunteered this school year. Their gift of time and talent made for several memorable events for our school community.”
Thank you to all Beaches Campus families who volunteered and supported the Parents’ Association and Dads’ Club in 2024-2025.

Mary Packer Cummings Society
The Mary Packer Cummings Society honors individuals who have provided for the school through deferred gifts such as bequests, life insurance, annuities, and trust agreements. The society is named in honor of Mrs. Cummings, who left the property where Episcopal now stands to St. John’s Cathedral upon her death in 1912. Planned gifts may be directed by the donor to provide unrestricted income or to be used for designated purposes such as endowment, capital improvements or program areas.
