FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 11 August 2025

Jamie Morgan Accepted as a Member of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers Professional membership recognises more than 20 years of experience across fire protection, electrical safety, hazardous environments and regulatory compliance. CAMBERLEY, SURREY, 11 August 2025: Jamie Morgan, Principal Fire Safety Consultant at ESI: Fire Safety, has been accepted at Member level of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers, achieving the professional membership grade MIFSM. Member grade is awarded to experienced fire safety professionals who can demonstrate suitable qualifications, knowledge and sustained involvement in fire safety management or fire engineering. Jamie’s acceptance recognises a career spanning more than 20 years across electrical safety, fire protection, risk assessment and regulatory compliance, working in a wide variety of commercial, industrial and higher-risk environments. His experience has included work within offices, shops, hospitality premises, residential buildings, schools, colleges, factories, warehouses, workshops, construction environments and complex commercial properties. Jamie has also worked in industrial and hazardous environments where fire and explosion risks require additional consideration. This includes hazardous areas subject to the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations, commonly known as DSEAR, and the ATEX framework for equipment and protective systems used in potentially explosive atmospheres. His experience has extended to major industrial facilities and sites operating within the Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations, known as COMAH, where the management of dangerous substances, ignition sources, emergency arrangements and potentially highconsequence events is particularly important. Jamie Morgan said: “I am delighted to have been accepted as a Member of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers. Achieving MIFSM is an important professional milestone and recognises the experience I have developed across more than 20 years of working within electrical safety, fire protection and regulatory compliance. My career has taken me into an enormous variety of working environments, from relatively straightforward offices and retail premises through to factories, workshops, hazardous areas and COMAH-regulated industrial sites. Each type of building and activity presents different risks, and that experience has helped me develop a practical understanding of how fire safety measures need to work in real buildings and operational businesses.” More Than 20 Years of Practical Experience

Jamie began working within the electrical and safety sectors in the early 2000s, establishing Electrical Safety Inspections in 2001. His early work focused on electrical inspection, testing and compliance, providing direct experience of electrical installations, equipment, ignition risks, maintenance standards and the practical challenges faced by organisations managing occupied buildings. Over time, Jamie’s work expanded further into fire protection and fire safety. His experience has included fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, portable fire extinguishers, fire doors, evacuation arrangements, compartmentation, electrical fire risks and the management of contractors and maintenance activities. Working across commercial and industrial premises has also provided experience of environments containing flammable liquids, gases, combustible dusts and other dangerous substances capable of creating fire or explosion risks. These environments require more than a general understanding of workplace fire safety. They require consideration of hazardous-area classification, potential ignition sources, process activities, ventilation, storage arrangements, emergency procedures and the controls needed to prevent a dangerous atmosphere from forming or being ignited. Jamie said: “Working in hazardous and industrial environments teaches you that fire safety cannot be considered in isolation. You need to understand the building, the work activities, the substances being used, the equipment installed and the way people actually operate the premises. A control that appears suitable on paper may be ineffective if it does not reflect the realities of production, maintenance, storage or human behaviour. My approach has always been to provide advice that is technically informed but also practical, proportionate and achievable for the client.” Jamie’s experience includes work across: • • • • • • • • • • • •

Offices and corporate workplaces Retail and hospitality premises Industrial units and manufacturing environments Factories, workshops and warehouses Construction and refurbishment projects Educational premises Residential and multi-occupied buildings Heritage and traditionally constructed properties Hazardous areas subject to DSEAR and ATEX controls Premises using or storing flammable liquids, gases and combustible materials Major industrial and COMAH-regulated sites Buildings with complex fire protection and evacuation arrangements
