FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
29 August 2025
ESI: Fire Safety Joins the Fire Protection Association
Membership of one of the UK’s longest-established fire safety organisations will support ESI: Fire Safety’s technical development, professional knowledge and continued growth.
CAMBERLEY, SURREY, 29 August 2025: ESI: Fire Safety has become a member of the Fire Protection Association, strengthening the company’s connection with one of the UK’s longest-established fire safety organisations.
Membership will give ESI: Fire Safety access to specialist fire safety guidance, technical resources, continuing professional development, industry insight and opportunities to engage with other organisations working across fire prevention, protection and risk management.
The Fire Protection Association, commonly known as the FPA, was established in 1946 by the Association of British Insurers. It was created to provide a central and authoritative voice on fire safety, prevention and protection for insurers, businesses and the wider built environment.
Today, the FPA supports organisations and fire safety professionals through technical guidance, training, consultancy, research, testing, publications and professional membership.
Jamie Morgan, Principal Fire Safety Consultant at ESI: Fire Safety, said:
“Joining the Fire Protection Association is another important step in the continued development of ESI: Fire Safety. The FPA has played a significant role within the UK fire safety industry for many decades and is widely recognised for its technical knowledge, guidance, research and training.
Membership gives us access to additional resources and professional insight that will help us continue developing the advice and services we provide to our clients.”
Supporting Technical Knowledge and Professional Development
ESI: Fire Safety provides fire risk assessment, fire strategy, DSEAR and wider fire safety consultancy services to businesses, landlords, property managers, charities, schools and other organisations throughout London and the South East.
The company also supports clients with the inspection, servicing and management of essential fire protection measures, including fire alarm systems, emergency lighting and portable fire extinguishers.
Fire safety legislation, British Standards, construction methods and building technologies continue to develop. New risks also emerge as buildings are altered, businesses change their activities and new energy technologies and materials are introduced.
Membership of the FPA will help ESI: Fire Safety remain informed about these developments and provide access to guidance covering a wide range of fire prevention, fire protection and property risk management subjects.
Jamie said:
“Fire safety is a broad and continually developing profession. It is not possible to rely solely on knowledge gained through a single qualification or training course.
Competent practitioners need to maintain their knowledge, review changes to legislation and standards, learn from real fire incidents and understand how new products, materials and technologies may affect risk.
FPA membership will support our continuing professional development and give us access to further technical information that can be applied to the buildings and organisations we work with.”
More Than 20 Years of Safety and Compliance Experience
ESI was established in 2001 and has more than 20 years of experience across electrical safety, fire protection and regulatory compliance.
During that time, the business has worked in a wide range of commercial, industrial, residential and specialist environments.
These have included:
• Offices and corporate workplaces
• Retail and hospitality premises
• Schools, colleges and community buildings
• Residential and multi-occupied properties
• Heritage and traditionally constructed buildings
• Warehouses, factories and workshops
• Commercial and industrial sites
• Hazardous areas and potentially explosive atmospheres
• Premises subject to DSEAR and ATEX requirements
• Major industrial and COMAH-regulated sites
This broad experience has helped shape ESI: Fire Safety’s practical and proportionate approach to fire risk management.
The company considers not only the physical fire precautions within a building, but also its construction, occupancy, activities, management arrangements and the people who may be placed at risk.
Jamie continued:
“Our experience across electrical safety, fire protection, hazardous environments and regulatory compliance gives us a broad understanding of how fire risks develop within real workplaces.
An effective fire safety assessment must consider more than whether equipment is present. It must examine whether the precautions are suitable for the building, properly maintained,
supported by appropriate management arrangements and capable of protecting the people who depend on them.”
Supporting the No Shortcuts in Safety Charter
Membership of the Fire Protection Association also complements ESI: Fire Safety’s No Shortcuts in Safety Charter
The Charter reflects the company’s commitment to detailed and thorough inspections, competent engineers, accurate records and clear professional advice.
ESI: Fire Safety does not believe that safety-critical inspections and servicing should be reduced to the fastest or cheapest possible visit.
Engineers and consultants must be given sufficient time to properly inspect systems, identify defects, consider compliance with relevant standards and explain any necessary improvements to the client.
Jamie said:
“Our No Shortcuts in Safety Charter is based on a simple principle. Fire safety work should be completed properly by competent people who take responsibility for the quality of their inspections and advice.
The cheapest or fastest service is not good value when important defects are missed, records are incomplete or equipment is left in a condition that does not meet the relevant fire safety standards.
Access to the FPA’s technical guidance, training and professional resources will support our commitment to carrying out detailed work and providing clients with informed, reliable and practical advice.”
The Role of the Fire Protection Association
The Fire Protection Association provides a wide range of services intended to reduce fire risk and improve fire safety standards.
Its activities include:
• Fire safety training and continuing professional development
• Technical fire safety guidance
• Fire testing and research
• Fire risk management advice
• Consultancy and risk assessment services
• Industry publications and technical resources
• Professional events and webinars
• Support for insurers, businesses and fire safety professionals
FPA members can access technical information and guidance, CPD-approved webinars, specialist events and resources intended to support their work.
Membership also creates opportunities to engage with other professionals and organisations across the fire safety, construction, insurance and property sectors.
In July 2026, the FPA announced that it had become part of the Certek Group, bringing it into a wider group of organisations operating across testing, inspection, certification and compliance services.
Jamie said:
“The FPA brings together knowledge from fire safety, insurance, construction, research and risk management. That wider perspective is valuable because fire protection is not simply a matter of meeting minimum legal requirements.
Good fire safety management protects people, buildings, business continuity, heritage and the long-term resilience of an organisation.
Becoming a member will help ESI: Fire Safety remain connected to developing industry practice while continuing to build relationships with professionals from across the wider fire safety community.”
Membership of the Fire Protection Association represents another important step in the growth of ESI: Fire Safety and its commitment to professional development, technical competence and high standards of service.
