ESI: Fire Safety Achieves Full Membership of the UK Fire Association

Membership supports the continued development of ESI: Fire Safety as a provider of fire protection equipment, servicing, maintenance and consultancy.

CAMBERLEY, SURREY, 19 June 2025: ESI: Fire Safety has been accepted as a Full Member of the UK Fire Association, marking an important step in the continued growth of its fire protection, servicing and maintenance operations.

The membership strengthens ESI: Fire Safety’s connection with the wider UK fire trade and supports the company’s work involving fire extinguishers, fire alarm systems, emergency lighting and other essential fire protection equipment.

ESI: Fire Safety supplies, installs, services and maintains a range of fire safety systems and equipment for businesses, landlords, property managers, charities, schools and other organisations throughout London and the South East.

Its practical fire protection services include:

• Fire extinguisher supply and installation

• Fire extinguisher servicing and maintenance

• Fire alarm inspection, testing and servicing

• Emergency lighting inspection and testing

• Fire alarm system advice and compliance reviews

• Fire safety signage

• Fire blankets and associated equipment

• Fire safety logbooks and maintenance records

• Fire protection surveys and remedial recommendations

Membership of the UK Fire Association will provide access to a wider national network of fire protection contractors, manufacturers, suppliers, trainers and specialist service providers.

Jamie Morgan, Principal Fire Safety Consultant at ESI: Fire Safety, said:

“We are very pleased that ESI: Fire Safety has been accepted as a Full Member of the UK Fire Association. The Association has a strong focus on supporting independent fire protection businesses, and that fits closely with the practical services we provide.

Fire extinguishers, fire alarm systems and emergency lighting are critical parts of a building’s fire safety arrangements. However, they only provide effective protection when they are correctly selected, properly installed, regularly tested and maintained by competent people.”

Supporting Competent Fire Protection Services

ESI has more than 20 years of experience across electrical safety, fire protection and regulatory compliance.

This experience has included inspecting, testing, servicing and maintaining safety-critical systems across offices, shops, hospitality premises, schools, residential buildings, factories, warehouses, workshops and larger commercial and industrial sites.

The company’s background in electrical inspection and compliance provides a strong technical foundation for its work with fire alarm systems and emergency lighting.

Fire alarm and emergency lighting equipment must be correctly designed, installed, tested and maintained to ensure that it operates when required. Poor maintenance, unsuitable alterations, missing documentation and defective equipment can all reduce the protection available to occupants.

ESI: Fire Safety works with clients to identify these issues and provide clear recommendations for servicing, repair, improvement or replacement.

Jamie said:

“Our work regularly involves systems that have not been properly maintained, records that are incomplete or fire protection equipment that is no longer suitable for the building.

In some cases, extinguishers have been incorrectly selected, poorly located or left without suitable identification signage. In others, fire alarm or emergency lighting systems have been altered over time without the documentation being updated.

Our role is to help clients understand what equipment they have, whether it remains suitable and what needs to be done to keep it reliable and compliant.”

Fire Extinguisher Supply and Servicing

Portable fire extinguishers remain one of the most visible forms of fire protection equipment in workplaces and commercial premises.

They must be selected according to the fire risks present, positioned where they can be safely accessed and maintained at appropriate intervals.

ESI: Fire Safety provides extinguisher supply, installation, commissioning, servicing and replacement in accordance with the relevant British Standards.

The company also advises clients on reducing unnecessary equipment, avoiding unsuitable extinguisher types and ensuring that extinguishers are supported by appropriate signage, mounting and maintenance records.

Jamie continued:

“Fire extinguisher servicing should not simply be treated as an annual box-ticking exercise. The engineer should consider whether the extinguisher is suitable for the risk, whether it is positioned correctly and whether the people expected to use it have received appropriate instruction.

A correctly serviced extinguisher is important, but the wider arrangement must also make sense for the premises and the people working there.”

Fire Alarm and Emergency Lighting Maintenance

ESI: Fire Safety also provides inspection, testing and servicing for fire alarm and emergency lighting systems.

These systems provide early warning, support safe evacuation and help occupants find escape routes if the normal lighting supply fails.

Regular maintenance can identify defective detectors, sounders, manual call points, batteries, emergency lighting fittings and control equipment before a failure occurs during an emergency.

The company also helps clients improve testing records, logbooks, zone plans and maintenance arrangements so that the responsible person can demonstrate that essential systems are being managed properly.

Jamie said:

“Our No Shortcuts in Safety Charter reflects the way we approach every inspection, test and service visit. Fire protection equipment should be maintained by skilled engineers who take the time to carry out detailed and thorough work, rather than rushing through the job simply to offer the fastest or cheapest service.

Poor servicing can leave important defects unidentified and vital fire safety standards overlooked. Our focus is on completing each visit properly, checking the wider condition and suitability of the equipment, maintaining accurate records and giving clients clear advice where improvements are needed.

Fire alarms, emergency lighting and extinguishers are safety-critical systems. Clients should be able to trust that they have been inspected and maintained with care, professional judgement and attention to detail.”

The Role of the UK Fire Association

The UK Fire Association supports small and medium-sized businesses working across the fire prevention and fire protection sectors.

Its membership includes companies involved in the supply, installation, inspection, servicing and maintenance of fire extinguishers, fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, fire doors and other fire safety products and services.

The Association provides technical and commercial support, networking, training opportunities and access to specialist knowledge from across the fire trade.

It also helps members build working relationships with other providers when clients require services outside their own direct areas of competence.

Jamie said:

“Membership gives us the opportunity to develop stronger relationships with other fire protection businesses, suppliers and specialists.

No single independent company can provide every fire safety service at the same level. A strong professional network allows businesses to cooperate, refer specialist work

appropriately and provide clients with access to competent support across a wider range of needs.

We believe in building partnerships rather than treating every other fire company as a competitor. That approach ultimately provides better outcomes for clients and helps raise standards across the industry.”

Full Membership also gives ESI: Fire Safety the opportunity to participate in UK Fire Association activities and vote on matters relating to the Association.

The achievement represents another step in ESI: Fire Safety’s commitment to competent servicing, reliable fire protection equipment, ongoing professional development and active engagement with the UK fire trade.
