The team is organized by CTE Print and Graphic Arts Teacher Carlos Felix who states: "When I sit at Washington Park it makes me happy to see all of the different types of people skating. The park is now becoming a sanctuary for many people who needed a creative outlet but had nowhere to go. I still cant believe we have a skate park!"

A nominal, non-refundable processing fee will be added for all registration transactions.

Processing Fee subject to change.

Registration cannot be taken in class.

Most of our instructors are independent contractors so they cannot process registration; however, they do collect material fees in class (cash only).

•

For some classes, fees will not be prorated if you register after class has started.

•

Phone-in registrations will not be accepted due to credit card processing laws.

•

Unless otherwise requested, cancellations due to weather or instructor illness will be processed as credit on account.

•

Credit on account expires one year from issue date, and are non-refundable.

REQUESTING A REFUND OR CREDIT To request a refund or credit, simply log into your account on the Amilia account and select the appropriate refund options for the class you are looking to withdraw from. Please observe the following refund policies for our classes: • Processing Fees and Material Fees are non-refundable.

• If you withdraw more than five business days prior to course/workshop start date: You will have the option to receive a full refund or credit to your account.

• If you withdraw five business days or less to course/workshop start date: You will have the option to receive a full credit, or a partial refund less 25% of the course/workshop fee.

• If you withdraw the same day or after a course/workshop has started: You will only have the option of prorated credit to account, minus any classes missed or attended.

• No credits will be granted after the start of the second class. Participants must withdraw or transfer before the start of the second class to receive any credits back to their account. After this time no credits will be issued.

• Missed Classes: Credits or refunds will not be issued for individually missed classes in a course/workshop.

• Canceled Course/Workshop: If a course/workshop is canceled due to low enrollment, you will automatically receive a full credit to your recreation account, including the processing fee.

• Credit on account expires one year from issue date, and is non-refundable.

• Check refunds will be mailed within 30 days after receiving confirmation of refund request.

Join the City of Escondido for some summer time fun!

New this season are options to add on specialized camp experiences to mix up the week and try something new. Simply look for the icon next to the class and enroll your child in both the specialized camp and the Discovery camp for a full day camp experience. A select number of spaces have been reserved for specialty camp participants wishing to enroll also in Discovery camp. If the Discovery camp is full at the time of enrollment add yourself to the waitlist and email us at recreation@escondido.org .

• Campers must arrive by 9 a.m. each morning.

• Field trips are not optional, counselors will not be left at camp.

• Shirts are required for field trips, can be purchased online for $5.

• Summer camp weekly activities calendar and info will be available 6/6.

• Daily registrations are available in advance for only $40–space is limited.

• Swim days are Fridays 12:30–4 p.m.

• Parents must drop their child off at specialty camps hosted at EVCC at the time the camp begins.

Refund Policy Refunds/credits may be requested until the second day of camp.

The amount of the refund/credit will be the camp fee minus the daily rate ($40), based on the number of days elapsed, regardless of attendance. Refunds are assessed an additional 25% handling fee. Credits placed on account will not be assessed a handling fee and will expire one year from the date issued.

The above procedures have been implemented due to advanced payments we make to our vendors in the purchase of entry tickets, transportation, supplies, and staffing.

PRESCHOOL Tiny Tots Preschool prepares your little one for kindergarten by encouraging exploration, academic development, and positive social interaction. Designed with learning in mind, the curriculum is based on California Common Core Standards.

Children often learn through play, therefore classroom activities include a variety of music, creative movement, art, science, social interaction, cultural awareness, language, math, pre-writing, pre-reading, field trips, and dramatic play.

Little Tots and Super Tots are continuous, yearlong programs that are divided into monthly installments for ease of payment.

Therefore, participants are enrolled for the duration of the 2022/2023 school year provided they maintain their eligibility.

Summer Tots 3 weeks Join us this summer as we focus on play, socialization, and learning. In this relaxed program, there is greater emphasis on creative expression, outdoor exploratory experiences and theme-based activities. Students enrolled in the 4-5 year (Pre-K) must bring a sack lunch each day.

Water Awareness in Residential Neighborhoods Drowning is the leading cause of accidental death for children ages one to four. Infants and toddlers can drown quickly and silently, in a matter of seconds. Drowning is preventable. The City of Escondido's Fire and Community Services Departments have launched an educational campaign that can help you protect your child. Escondido WARN (Water Awareness in Residential Neighborhoods) reaches communities with important water safety information that could save the life of a child you know and love.

El ahogamiento es la causa principal de muerte accidental para niños de uno a cuatro años. Bebes y niños pequeños pueden ahogarse rápida y silenciosamente, en pocos segundos. El ahogamiento en piscinas es prevenible. El Departamento de Bomberos y Departamento de Recreación de la Ciudad de Escondido, han introducido una campaña educativa que puede ayudar a proteger a sus hijos. El programa WARN, llega a las comunidades con información de seguridad importante para piscinas que podrá salvar la vida de un niño que usted conoce y ama.

What can you do to save a life?

The best thing anyone can do to stay safe in and around the water is to learn to swim. Enroll your child in swim lessons at recreation.escondido.org/recreation-classes Never leave a child unsupervised around the water assign an adult "Water Watcher" to maintain constant supervision.

Take steps to minimize unauthorized use of the pool. Install fencing with self-closing and selflatching gates and alarms around pools. Lock all doors and windows leading to the pool.

Develop physical and mental discipline, strength, endurance, and coordination. Learn the Korean martial arts of Tae Kwon Do (kicks, blocks, punching), Hapkido (joint locking techniques), Judo (throwing and grappling), and basic weapons. Become more confident and learn basic self-defense techniques.

Students in the class will learn the basics of photography by using toys, figures, comic heroes, and their own self-made dioramas to tell a unique story. Each class will focus on learning the basics of movie production design and storytelling. Students are welcome to bring their own cameras and tablets for personal use. The City of Escondido teaches the Starfish Aquatics Institute curriculum designed for students ages 6-months to adult. Benchmarks are established at each stage in the program that combine both swimming and safety skills. Students participate in experiential learning activities that allow them to explore the water in a creative and comfortable environment. The Escondido Sports Center Youth Arena Soccer League is a great first step for those kids looking to try out soccer. Our program focuses on teaching the fundamentals of the game in a safe, non-competitive environment. We prioritize participation and learning over winning because when everyone plays, everyone learns. Participants are contacted the week prior to when their games begin with their team assignments. Practice for ages 5-11 will be scheduled Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday depending on coaches preference. Ages 12-14 will practice every other week.

This nutrition program is designed to sustain and improve participant’s health and reduce isolation by promoting socialization. Seating is limited and reservations are required. Washington Park Skate Spot opened to the public October 2021 and has recently received a Parks Make Life Better Spotlight Park Design Award by the California Parks and Recreation Society. The skate spot has been a tremendous success in the community attracting hundreds of riders each day.

The Washington Park Skate Spot provides a safe, designated place for riders to develop their skills and enjoy the company of their peers. This 7,000 square foot facility is based on the latest skate park design principles and features a mix of street and transition- style terrain with elements designed for all age groups and ability levels. Currently the skate spot is open from dawn to dusk. So whether you have been riding for years or are looking to try something new, bring your board and drop in on the fun!
