In partnership with Escondido Union School District, the City of Escondido will offer no-cost before and after school programs at five local elementary schools that focus on expanding academic, social, emotional, and physical needs of students. Our goal is to provide an environment with a wide variety of hands-on enrichment activities, physical recreation opportunities, academic assistance, and supportive supervision. NOTE! •

A nominal, non-refundable processing fee will be added for all registration transactions.

Processing Fee subject to change.

•

Registration cannot be taken in class.

Most of our instructors are independent contractors so they cannot process registration; however, they do collect material fees in class (cash only).

•

For some classes, fees will not be prorated if you register after class has started.

•

Phone-in registrations will not be accepted due to credit card processing laws.

•

Unless otherwise requested, cancellations due to weather or instructor illness will be processed as credit on account.

•

Credit on account expires one year from issue date, and is non-refundable.

REQUESTING A REFUND OR CREDIT To request a refund, simply download the Amilia app and select the class you are looking to withdraw from. Please observe the following refund policies for our classes: • Material Fees, Processing Fees, League Fees, Drop-in Fees, Punch Passes, or Annual Passes are non-refundable.

• If you withdraw more than five business days prior to course/camp start date: Receive a full refund, excluding processing fees.

• If you withdraw five business days or less to course/camp start date: Receive a refund less 25% of the course/camp fee.

• No refunds will be granted after the start of the first class.

• Missed Classes: Credits or refunds will not be issued for individually missed classes in a course/camp.

• Cancelled course/camp: If a course/workshop is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will automatically receive a full refund, including the processing fee.

• All cash/check transactions will be refunded by check. Check refunds will be mailed within 30 days after receiving confirmation of refund request.

• Single classes cancelled due to weather or instructor illness will be issued as a credit on account by default.

If you would prefer to be refunded to your original form of payment please request this by sending an email to recreation@escondido.org within seven days of the credit being issued.

PRESCHOOL Tiny Tots Preschool prepares your little one for kindergarten by encouraging exploration, academic development, and positive social interaction. Designed with learning in mind, the curriculum is based on California Common Core Standards.

Children often learn through play, therefore classroom activities include a variety of music, creative movement, art, science, social interaction, cultural awareness, language, math, pre-writing, pre-reading, field trips, and dramatic play.

Little Tots and Super Tots are continuous, yearlong programs that are divided into monthly installments for ease of payment.

Therefore, participants are enrolled for the duration of the 2022/2023 school year provided they maintain their eligibility.

Discovery Tots Drums, Glitter, and Xylophones, Oh My! 3/4 weeks • 4-5 years Come explore the art of rhythm through this visual and performing arts class. Each week we will discover and express our creative side through music, movement, crafts, and play. These activities help a child build confidence in all of their abilities: physical, emotional, and academic.

Let’s make some music! On the last day of class, participants will demonstrate all they have learned to their family and friends at the end of each month. Let's play some rhythm!

Parent and Me Tumbling Time

Join the fun in this messy art class where children with get their hands "dirty" creating arts and crafts using paint, glue, shaving cream, clay, and more in this highly sensory-based class where the process is just as fun as the end result! Parent participation is required.

Roller Skating Safety and Skills Class

Let your child experience the joys of dancing! These ballet classes teach poise, coordination, and classical ballet technique in a positive and imaginative atmosphere.

Learn to roller skate with champions on the huge skating floor at the Escondido Sports Center. Skills will be taught for the beginner, novice and intermediate skaters with safety instruction taught at all levels.

Introductory lessons will begin with balance, posture, forward skating and stopping. Novice skating will have you gliding on foot to foot.

Intermediate will focus on backward skating and tricks! All levels are taught during the same time frame. Participants must bring their own skates and helmet. Wrist Guards are highly encouraged.

Youth Tennis 5 Weeks • Ages 7–17 Give your child the opportunity to learn a lifelong sport, develop hand-eye coordination, agility, and build self-confidence. Children will learn basic strokes in a fun and supportive group lesson. Bring a tennis racket and one can of new, unopened “extra duty” tennis balls. Class will be canceled on days it rains.

Beginners: Covers forehand, backhand, service, rules, and court etiquette for the beginning player.

Intermediate: Focuses on ground strokes and use of spins, volley, footwork, and positioning. Players should be able to rally, play out points, and have some match experience.

Strength, Balance & Flexibility 6 Weeks • Adult Help prevent falls and improve your strength, balance, and flexibility with friends! Most exercises are done seated on a chair while using light hand weights to improve your functional capacity, coordination, and reaction time. Tai Chi is a slow moving martial art form. Famous for its graceful and gently flowing movements, Tai Chi emphasizes calming the mind and releasing mental and physical tension. Through regular practice, Tai Chi also improves balance, flexibility, coordination, leg strength and selfdefense ability.

Develop physical and mental discipline, strength, endurance, and coordination. Learn the Korean martial arts of Tae Kwon Do (kicks, blocks, punching), Hapkido (joint locking techniques), Judo (throwing and grappling), and basic weapons. Youth Arena Soccer

The Escondido Sports Center Youth Arena Soccer League is a great first step for those kids looking to try out soccer. Our program focuses on teaching the fundamentals of the game in a safe, non-competitive environment. We prioritize participation and learning over winning because when everyone plays, everyone learns. Participants are contacted the week prior to when their games begin with their team assignments.

Practice for ages 5-11 will be scheduled Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday depending on coaches preference.

Practice for ages 12-14 will take place every other week.

210 East Park Avenue • 760-839-4688 The Park Avenue Community Center (PACC) is geared up and ready for you! Come by yourself or with your friends to attend a wide variety of enriching programs, activities, and classes. Mornings consist of fitness classes, socials, support groups, educational seminars, and pool games. The afternoons offer nutritious lunches, movies, fun BINGO, table tennis, chess, and interactive board games. The Center is a great place to find new support systems and meet friends.

The PACC is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.

OLDER ADULTS Senior Nutrition Come to the beautifully updated Park Avenue Café for friendship, food, and fun. The congregate meals are nutritionally balanced and served indoor or outdoor. This nutrition program is designed to sustain and improve participants' health and reduce isolation by promoting socialization. Seating is limited and reservations are required. Lunch transportation is offered for nutrition participants only (to Center and back home) who live within Escondido City limits.

Older adults ages 60 and over can sign up for these programs. If you would like to be added to the list for congregate meals or lunch transportation, call 760-839-4803 and leave your name, age, and phone number.

Star Parties Dixon will be going dark! Please no white light-emitting devices; red lights recommended. Those with telescopes may park in the Hilltop parking lot to set up in the parking lot any time before dark. Daley Ranch will be closed at dusk.

Park in the Daley Ranch parking lot or on La Honda Dr. and walk into Dixon Lake Regional Park to the Hilltop parking lot, where San Diego Astronomy Association members will share expertise and telescope views of Solar System Objects (including Saturn) and Deep Sky Objects.

Binoculars are not just for the birds! If you have binoculars, consider bringing them to try star-hopping the night sky. Visit the PowerPoint booth to see a looping presentation of what's up and how to star-hop. Thank you San Diego Astronomy Association.
