SPOTLIGHT #NEW NORMAL

SOCIALLY DISTANT

HAPPILY CONNECTED

A NEW NORMAL OF KINDNESS We can do better! The challenge of adapting to a different lifestyle must go beyond social distancing and hygiene protocols. We need to acknowledge the effects of the pandemic on our lives and on the lives of others, by shifting our mindset and striving to become real agents of change for the world around us. And that, we believe, begins with the little things, with acts of kindness. Kindness has the power to connect us. It is all about empathy and building bridges to shorten the distances between two people. It is about listening to others and getting touched. Then finding ways to help, to tackle the emerging problems of our society.

Our responsibility is enormous, whether it is as an educator or as a parent. We want our learners to reimagine a kinder future and to feel empowered to act. What a terrific opportunity this unprecedented 2020 brought to us, right? Let’s get back to campus but not to the normal life. Let's discover a new normal of kindness together!

HAPPILY

CONNECTED

Yay! The moment of returning to our beloved campus is finally around the corner! As we planned the health and safety protocols, we understand some of our interactions will need to change. But there is one element that will always be present in our school: joy. Through music parodies, we engaged our learners in a special project in which they explored our health and safety protocols and recorded a series of video clips that you can watch below. Turn on the volume and have fun!

THE MANUAL, IN A FEW WORDS With the Einstein consultancy, we improved the safety, health and coexistence protocols for returning to campus. We also strongly recommend that you read the "Safety Manual" that we shared with families back in July, in its initial version, on the website and in the video "Back to Campus" CLICK HERE.

The manual includes some details that take into account the well-being, care and specificities of each group that attends our school. For general information, we have prepared the following summary. Good reading and see you soon at school!

THE THREE PILLARS: MASK, DISTANCE AND CLEAN HANDS THE MASK The contagion of the coronavirus happens in contact with the small droplets suspended in the air while infected people talk, cough or sneeze. The use of masks drastically reduces contagion, as they act as a physical barrier between people. The face mask must be worn by all learners, educators and collaborators, in all spaces of the school. It should only be removed when eating. We have a group of learners at the school that is considered an exception: children under the age of 2, are not recommended to wear masks.

The mask should be changed every 3 hours and/or whenever they are wet and/or dirty. Its use is personal, and the mask should not be shared with another person. It should fully cover the mouth and nose and adapt perfectly to the face. Very important: wash your hands before you change your mask!

TOGETHER, BUT APART!

It is important to respect the signs that indicate 1.5m of safe distance between people. There are markings on the floor in the school's common areas, as well as in places such as bathrooms and drinking fountains. Non-critical environments

Critical environments

These are environments in which it is possible to easily maintain a social distance minimum of 1.5 m, has good circulation of natural air, and which does not present moments of agglomeration. Examples include; parking lot, learning rooms, bathrooms for individual use, sports court, and administrative rooms.

These are environments in which at some point it will not be possible to maintain the recommended social distance, or in places where agglomerations are possible. Examples include; canteen, drinking fountain, shared bathroom, playground, infirmary, pedagogical service room, among others.

GUIDELINES WHILE IN BOTH SPACES:

Wear a face mask in all school environments. Respect the floor marking of social distance in the school environments. Adopt a self-care behavior, taking time to wash your hands, and sanitize with 70% alcohol.

Always wash your hands when entering and leaving critical (mandatory) and noncritical environments. Respect the markings on chairs, tables and rows. Take care of your personal objects.

WASH ONE HAND, WASH ANOTHER! Hand hygiene should take place with soap and water, and last for about 40 to 60 seconds, rubbing and lathering both hands very well. When should we wash our hands? Before eating and drinking. Before and after using the bathroom. When entering and leaving school environments. Before and after handling common objects. Before and after changing your mask. Before and after playing. Alcohol gel

Measuring the temperature

In all school environments there will be totems and 70% alcohol gel dispensers available for all to use. For proper cleaning, you should put 70% alcohol gel on your hands and rub for 20 to 30 seconds.

Anyone entering the school must have their temperature checked, the procedure will be done at all school entrances and exits. The ideal temperature is up to 37.4 ° C. School entry will not be allowed for any cases that are 37.5 ° C or higher.

OTHER TIPS! Take care! Always clean your hands with soap and water, and use 70% alcohol gel. Wear a mask, and remember to always change it every 3 hours and when it is damp, dirty or damaged.

Always be hydrated and drink lots of water. When sneezing and/or coughing always cover your nose and mouth with a disposable tissue or use your elbow (do not use your hands). Avoid exposure, and only leave the house when it is necessary. Sleep well and eat healthy.

PAY ATTENTION TO THE SIGNS, PLEASE! Upon returning to campus, safety, health and hygiene will be our top priorities, but we still want to be welcoming, thoughtful, friendly, and maintain the cheerful atmosphere of the Escola Concept school. The best way to do this, we thought, was to bring joy, happiness, and fun elements to our security protocols. Check out all the warning signs posted around the campus.

LET'S CONSTANTLY REMIND OURSELVES OF THE IMPORTANCE OF WASHING OUR HANDS FREQUENTLY AND AFTER ANY ACTIVITY. OUR GUIDANCE IS FOR EVERYONE TO WASH THEIR HANDS WITH SOAP, RUBBING THE PALMS AND FINGERS, INCLUDING THE BACK OF THE HANDS, RINSING THOROUGHLY WITH RUNNING WATER, AND DRYING THEM ON THE DISPOSABLE PAPER TOWELS.

LET'S WELCOME A NEW START! INSTEAD OF HUGS AND PHYSICAL GREETINGS, WE WILL ALLOW SPACE FOR CREATIVE GREETINGS FROM A DISTANCE. IT'S WORTH A LITTLE DANCE, A FUN POSE, ALL SO WE DON'T LOSE OUR ROUTINE OF JOY.

OVER MY HEAD AND TO THE SIDES MY HANDS AND ARMS GO... THEY NEVER TOUCH MY LITTLE FACEBECAUSE IT'S PROTECTED SO... OVER MY HEAD AND TO THE SIDES MY HANDS AND ARMS GO... THEY WANT TO MOVE INTO MY MOUTH BUT THEN REMEMBER NO! OVER THE RIVER AND THROUGH THE WOODS
