GRADE 4 B About the learning journey:

Grade 4B learners were touched by the catastrophic effects of rain storms in the North Shore of São Paulo in February. They contributed bringing food, toys and sent encouraging messages to the people in need.

We're here to share the group ' s learning journey and some possibilities!

We had meaningful learning opportunities using two thinking maps:

Learners could brainstorm ideas about their passions and interests using a circle map, creating/developing a culture of inquiry

Then we turned the circle map into a double bubble map, comparing and contrasting different features

After discussing the similarities between the learners' passions, we discussed which global goals would best connect with their interests and the Global Goals they would like to investigate. We decided that Global Goal 7 - Affordable and Clean Energy would make the most sense now. Through active listening and Visible Thinking Routines, we have listed learners' curious questions and created the project ''How might we produce affordable and clean energy for communities in need?'

Learners read many different books and practiced taking notes in their notebooks in bubble maps that organized relevant information that helped them understand what energy is and how it is produced

After that, learners started investigating the most common types of clean energy: solar, wind, biomass and hydroelectric

Sobre a jornada de aprendizagem:

Os estudantes do Grade 4B foram tocados pelos efeitos catastróficos das tempestades de chuva no Litoral Norte de São Paulo em fevereiro. Eles contribuíram trazendo alimentos, brinquedos e enviaram mensagens encorajadoras para as pessoas necessitadas Estamos aqui para compartilhar a jornada de aprendizado do grupo e algumas possibilidades!

Tivemos oportunidades significativas de aprendizado usando dois mapas mentais:

Os estudantes puderam gerar ideias sobre suas paixões e interesses usando um mapa circular, criando/desenvolvendo uma cultura de questionamento

Em seguida, transformamos o mapa circular em um mapa de bolhas duplas, comparando e contrastando diferentes características. Após discutir as semelhanças entre as paixões dos estudantes, discutimos quais objetivos globais se conectariam melhor aos seus interesses e quais Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentavel eles gostariam de investigar Decidimos que o Objetivo Global 7 - Energia Acessível e Limpa faria mais sentido agora. Através da escuta ativa e das Rotinas de Pensamento Visível, listamos as curiosidades dos estudantes e criamos o projeto ''Como podemos produzir energia acessível e limpa para comunidades necessitadas?''

Como os humanos podem continuar a prosperar e reduzir seu impacto no meio ambiente?

About the learning journey:

Grade 4C learners' project is aligned with the UN Global Goal - Climate Action and Clean and Affordable Energy. The project aimed to answer the question: "How can humans keep thriving while reducing their impact on the environment?". Learners explored different types of energy and their impacts on the environment

To better understand the effects of energy on the environment, we conducted experiments in the maker space. They explored the effects of renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power, as well as non-renewable sources like fossil fuels. Through hands-on activities, they learned about the impact of energy on the environment and how it affects climate change. Learners also investigated ways that humans can reduce their impact on the environment by making small changes in their daily lives They brainstormed ideas like reducing energy consumption, recycling, using public transportation, and supporting renewable energy sources

Overall, this project allowed students to learn about the importance of taking action to address climate change and reduce our impact on the environment By exploring the different types of energy and conducting experiments, they gained a deeper understanding of how our choices impact the environment and learned ways that they can make a positive difference in the world

Sobre a jornada de aprendizagem:

O projeto dos estudantes do grade 4 está alinhado com o Objetivo de Desenvolvimento Sustentavel da ONU - Ação Climática e Energia Limpa e Acessível O projeto visava responder à pergunta: "Como os seres humanos podem continuar prosperando enquanto reduzem seu impacto no meio ambiente?" Os estudantes exploraram diferentes tipos de energia e seus impactos no meio ambiente

Para entender melhor os efeitos da energia no meio ambiente, realizamos experimentos no espaço maker. Eles exploraram os efeitos de fontes de energia renováveis, como energia solar e eólica, bem como fontes não renováveis, como combustíveis fósseis Por meio de atividades práticas, eles aprenderam sobre o impacto da energia no meio ambiente e como isso afeta as mudanças climáticas

Os estudantes também investigaram maneiras pelas quais os humanos podem reduzir seu impacto no meio ambiente fazendo pequenas mudanças em suas vidas diárias Eles debateram ideias como reduzir o consumo de energia, reciclar, usar transporte público e apoiar fontes de energia renováveis

No geral, este projeto permitiu que os estudantes aprendessem sobre a importância de agir para enfrentar as mudanças climáticas e reduzir nosso impacto no meio ambiente. Ao explorar os diferentes tipos de energia e realizar experimentos, eles obtiveram uma compreensão mais profunda de como nossas escolhas impactam o meio ambiente e aprenderam maneiras pelas quais elas podem fazer uma diferença positiva no mundo
