About the learning journey | Sobre a jornada de aprendizagem: This project aims to promote and enhance opportunities for exploration and experimentation through discoveries and investigations mediated especially by the use of open-ended materials and everyday objects (which are not classified as industrialized toys). The proposal was guided by the discovery of objects in the Treasures Basket, and the book “Brown Bear, What Do You See?” written by Bill Martin Jr. and Eric Carle. Este projeto tem o objetivo de promover e potencializar oportunidades de exploração e experimentação por meio de descobertas e investigações mediadas especialmente pelo uso de materiais não estruturados e de objetos do uso cotidiano (que não são classificados como brinquedos industrializados). About the learning journey | Sobre a jornada de aprendizagem: Water is a natural and essential resource and all living beings on planet Earth depend on it. Raising awareness about the importance of water in our lives, reflecting on the preservation of this resource, observing its states, realizing how its presence and absence influence our lives, in addition to understanding how we can use it are some of the specifics that we uncover, explore and investigate during this project. In addition, learners practice the habit of thinking flexibly, participating in experiences that will encourage them to reflect on solutions to certain problems, such as the lack of water and the preservation of water, related to UN Global Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation and UN Global Goal 15: Life on Land. About the learning journey | Sobre a jornada de aprendizagem: Children, with their rich curiosity and investigative power, are always observing their surroundings. In this age group, their understanding of the context in which they are inserted often happens using their senses. Stimulating these senses and enabling learners to experiment is fundamental for their cognitive and social development. This project is relevant for learners to help them in this process of understanding the world around them. In addition, they will practice the habit of the mind to collecting data through the senses by participating in hands-on experiences that will drive their learning. Throughout the project, students will develop observation skills, which will help them reflect on how to maintain good health. As crianças, com a sua rica curiosidade e poder investigativo, estão sempre a observar o seu entorno. Nessa faixa etária, seu entendimento do contexto em que está inserido acontece, muitas vezes, utilizando seus sentidos. Estimular esses sentidos e possibilitar aos estudantes experimentações é fundamental para o seu desenvolvimento tanto cognitivo quanto social. Este projeto é relevante para os estudantes, para auxiliá-los nesse processo de compreensão do mundo ao seu redor. O que vai acontecer no FOL? Families and learners will be welcomed in the outside area of the learning environment with cushions and mats for everyone to sit on. We will have the participation of our music educator playing songs that we sing with the children during the first semester. We will provide instruments in the middle of the circle for children to explore freely. Then they will participate in a sensory circuit. We will organize the families into three groups with the respective educators to carry out the proposals related to the senses. The moment will end in the outdoor area. They will make a collective painting on the raw cotton fabric using the paint, pool balls, and building blocks. As famílias e os estudantes serão recebido na área externa do ambiente de aprendizagem com almofadas e tapetes para todos sentarem. Teremos a participação do educador de música tocando canções que cantamos com as crianças durante o primeiro semestre. Disponibilizaremos no meio da roda instrumentos para que as crianças explorem livremente. Em seguida, eles irão participar de um circuito sensorial. Iremos organizar as famílias em três

About the learning journey | Sobre a jornada de aprendizagem: In this project, Pre-K3 learners are going to be pushed into thinking about how community helpers play an essential role in our lives to keep us safe, healthy, and well-fed, and how to make our communities function well. They are also going to have an understanding of the importance of equality in the workforce and explore the advantages of "nontraditional" career choices for female and male students especially by empowering girls, which is linked to UN Global Goal 5: Gender Equality. The learners are going to practice the Habit of Mind “thinking interdependently” and the Pillar of Collaboration by having collaborative tasks which emphasize the benefits of working with others intellectually and physically, and welcoming others´ contributions and perspectives. Neste projeto, os estudantes do Pre-K3 serão levados a pensar sobre como os ajudantes da comunidade desempenham um papel essencial em nossas vidas para nos manter seguros, saudáveis, bem alimentados e como fazer com que nossas comunidades funcionem bem. About the learning journey | Sobre a jornada de aprendizagem: In the first years of life, we develop food preferences through experiences in the family context and in the school environment. Eating involves, in addition to the nutritional part, pleasure, the five senses, and sharing food and conversations. In this project, learners will explore different fruits and vegetables, as well as how some foods are prepared. Children will use the Habits of Mind "Thinking Flexibly" and "Gathering data through all senses" to try new foods. In addition, we will seek to promote a reflection on food waste by engaging them with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals 2 and 3: Zero Hunger and Good Health and Well-being. Nos primeiros anos de vida desenvolvemos preferências alimentares através de vivências no contexto familiar e no ambiente escolar. Comer envolve, além da parte nutricional, o prazer, os cinco sentidos e o compartilhar alimentos e conversas. Through the Habit of Mind “questioning and posing problems," the learners faced moments to reflect on the sources of energy and think about solutions for communities that do not have full access to this resource. Aligned with Global Goal # 7, Affordable and Clean Energy, they had a chance to think about ways we might ensure affordable, sustainable, suitable, and modern energy, which is also one of our school’s pillars. We know that many cultures have fictional stories once thought to be true that tried to explain the mysteries of nature and humankind. By studying mythology, learners were able to have a deeper understanding of the variety of cultures, literature, and beliefs, encouraging curiosity and giving the opportunity to make connections between our experiences and the world surrounding us. O mundo em que vivemos está cheio de maravilhas, histórias e crenças que nos ajudam a entender o que acontece ao nosso redor. Sabemos que muitas culturas têm histórias fictícias antes consideradas verdadeiras que tentaram explicar os mistérios da natureza e da humanidade. Ao estudar mitologia, os estudantes puderam ter uma compreensão mais profunda da variedade de culturas, literatura e crenças, incentivando a curiosidade e dando a oportunidade de fazer conexões entre nossas experiências e o mundo que nos cerca.

They also recognized the importance of living things and the need to protect biodiversity and natural habitats. We now also understand the environmental transformations that the planet and the world have suffered through time. Neste projeto de ciências, os estudantes aprenderão sobre o meio ambiente e como as diferentes condições climáticas afetam o crescimento das plantas. What kinds of animals live in Brazil? Que tipos de animais vivem no Brasil?
About the learning journey | Sobre a jornada de aprendizagem: This year, we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Semana de Arte Moderna 1922, an arts festival in São Paulo, Brazil. It was a remarkable year for Brazil. One of the main painters of this period was Tarsila do Amaral, whose paintings were very much inspired by elements of Brazil, such as the landscape and animals that inhabit Brazilian biomes. After seeing and discussing some of his famous paintings that include animals, the learners showed interest in learning even more about Brazil's animals. The project will also help us work with Global Goal 15, Life on Earth, as we will learn about how to protect and prevent the extinction of endangered species. Este ano, celebraremos o centésimo aniversário da Semana de Arte Moderna de 1922, um festival de artes em São Paulo, Brasil. Foi um ano marcante para o Brasil. Uma das principais pintoras desse período foi Tarsila do Amaral, cujas pinturas foram muito inspiradas em elementos do Brasil, como a paisagem e os animais que habitam os biomas brasileiros. Depois de ver e discutir algumas de suas pinturas famosas que incluem animais, os estudantes demonstraram interesse em aprender ainda mais sobre os animais do Brasil, o projeto também nos ajudará a trabalhar com a Objetivo Global 15, Vida na Terra, pois aprenderemos sobre como proteger e prevenir a extinção de espécies ameaçadas.

About the learning journey | Sobre a jornada de aprendizagem: The development of artistic representations and styles is often connected to the historical process and the chronology of events and benchmarks that surround the artist. Springing from that understanding and celebrating the centennial of the Modern Art Week of 1922, this project aims at understanding how art and the historical and geographical processes in Brazil are interwoven. Additionally, this project is linked to Global Goal 9.C which involves "increasing access to information and communications technology and striving to provide universal and affordable access to the Internet in the least developed countries". Learners will produce a Virtual Art Gallery containing their productions. About the learning journey | Sobre a jornada de aprendizagem: The study of art consists of studying the customs and traditions of a society or community. Our attitudes, values, assumptions, and problems are also deeply linked to our art and, therefore, it plays a fundamental role in the formation of our people and communities. It is important to know that art is not static and is evolving forever as a result of time, new discoveries, and contact with other cultures. Therefore, to truly understand our arts and societies as they are today, it is essential to study the past. In this project, we study the connection between the history and foundations of our arts with our current lives. Our studies are directly related to Global Goal 6 as we explore the extent of progress in peace, moral justice, and democracy since the beginning of civilization. Students will play the "Who Am I?" Game. O estudo da arte consiste em estudar os costumes e tradições de uma sociedade ou comunidade. Nossas atitudes, valores, pressupostos e problemas também estão profundamente ligados à nossa arte e, por isso, ela desempenha um papel fundamental na formação de nossas pessoas e coletivos. É importante saber que a arte não é estática e está sempre evoluindo como resultado do tempo, das novas descobertas e do contato com outras culturas. About the learning journey | Sobre a jornada de aprendizagem: The grade 6A is fascinated by the three most dominant and advanced ancient civilizations in the Americas: the Aztecs, the Mayans, and the Incas. By understanding its development, students were able to improve their understanding of the world and the people who live in it. Ancient civilizations provide information about why and how history unfolded and became what it is. As a result, we need to promote innovative sustainable technologies and ensure equal and universal access to information and financial markets. This will bring prosperity, create jobs, and ensure that stable and prosperous societies are built around the world. A turma é fascinada pelas três civilizações antigas mais dominantes e avançadas das Américas: os astecas, os maias e os incas. Ao entender o seu desenvolvimento, os estudantes puderam melhorar a sua compreensão do mundo e das pessoas que vivem nele. As civilizações antigas fornecem informações sobre o porquê e como a história se desenrolou e se tornou como é. What will happen in the FOL? In this Maya-Aztec-Inca project, the learners explore the major events of these ancient Mesoamerican civilizations. They act as travel agents planning a trip to see an Ancient Latin American civilization. Neste projeto Maya Aztec Inca, os estudantes explorarão os principais eventos dessas antigas civilizações mesoamericanas. Eles atuarão como agentes de viagens para planejar uma viagem para conhecer uma antiga civilização latino-americana.

About the learning journey | Sobre a jornada de aprendizagem: Understanding the history of things that surround us has always been the subject of great curiosity on the part of human beings, and during academic life, it is essential that students explore all the important points of the past to help them understand our present. That's why grade 6 learners decided to venture into how different countries have developed peace, justice, and sustainability over the years. About the learning journey | Sobre a jornada de aprendizagem: Wars define relationships between countries and societies, and create or destroy alliances. We focused on the Cold War that uniquely shaped today's world. Our student-created project investigates global dynamics while relating educational content to our Essential Questions.

What will happen in the FOL? Our learners created an interactive scenario called an Escape Room where participants must work together, follow clues and navigate their way out. The tasks were created by the students based on the educational content delivered to them throughout the first and second trimesters. About the learning journey | Sobre a jornada de aprendizagem: The 18th century brought with it transformations to different societies. It was a moment of perspective change in different areas. Learners were driven by their curiosity to better understand social changes caused by the revolutions of this period and sought the impacts of Enlightenment thinkers.
O século XVIII trouxe consigo transformações para diferentes sociedades. Foi um momento de mudança de perspectiva em diferentes áreas. Learners set up an Interactive Museum demonstrating various aspects of the 18th Century revolutions in Europe and Brazil. The museum will have two visits, one in English and one in Portuguese; Different “personalities” will be there to enlighten visitors with a lot of information in unique ways. About the learning journey | Sobre a jornada de aprendizagem: The great wars were world-changing events that happened last century. There were many lives lost, many families destroyed, and much suffering occurred. During that time and beyond, many things changed in the world, especially in the culture of the countries involved in the main events of the great wars. Currently, we live in the culture built by those who lived through these events. So how has the World Wars affected the cultures of the countries involved?
As Grandes Guerras foram eventos que mudam o mundo que aconteceram no século passado. Houve muitas vidas perdidas, muitas famílias destruídas, muitos sofrimentos ocorreram. Durante esse tempo, e por isso, muitas coisas mudaram no mundo, especialmente na cultura dos países envolvidos nos principais eventos das Grandes Guerras. Atualmente, vivemos a cultura construída por aqueles que viveram esses eventos. Então, como as guerras mundiais afetaram a cultura dos países envolvidos?
What will happen in the FOL? Learners will act out a play narrated by two timeless characters, divulging the facts about the Russian Revolution, World War I, and World War II. The audience will be invited to reflect on the consequences of those facts for the countries involved. Os estudantes irão encenar uma peça narrada por dois personagens atemporais, divulgando os fatos em torno da Revolução Russa, Primeira Guerra Mundial e Segunda Guerra Mundial. How do human-made disasters impact health, security measures, and the economy? Como desastres antrópicos impactam na forma de cuidar da saúde, medidas de segurança e na economia?
About the learning journey | Sobre a jornada de aprendizagem: Disasters are events that cannot be reduced to a single moment. They are composed of several phases, before and after impact. Unfortunately, contemporary societies have lived or are under the sights of “anthropic” catastrophes, that is, those that result from human action. Therefore, 10th graders decided to study the effects of these disasters on health, economy, and security. They find inspiration in Global Goal 3.9 to raise awareness across the community to "substantially reduce the number of deaths and illnesses from hazardous chemicals and pollution and contamination of air, water, and soil". Desastres são eventos que não podem ser reduzidos a um único momento. Eles são compostos de várias fases, antes e depois do impacto. Infelizmente, as sociedades contemporâneas viveram ou estão sob as vistas de catástrofes antrópicas, isto é, aquelas que resultam da ação humana. Portanto, os estudantes da 10ª série decidiram estudar os efeitos desses desastres em saúde, economia e segurança. The space is modeled after a museum, which tells the story of major human catastrophes through models, videos, photos, and explanations from the students. It will be possible to understand the reason for these catastrophes and also understand their results. O espaço conta com estandes, que contam a história das principais catástrofes antrópicas através de maquetes, vídeos, fotos e explicações dos estudantes. Será possível entender o porquê dessas catástrofes e também compreender o resultado delas para as pessoas.

About the learning journey | Sobre a jornada de aprendizagem: In the book 1984, George Orwell reveals a future dominated by totalitarianism and control through media. Inspired by this and the sociopolitical and artistic movements that culminated in the Week of Modern Art in 1922 in Brazil, the learners assembled this project to develop a more critical view regarding different perspectives of the same event. The students created a game that challenges the participant's critical eye, testing their knowledge and expertise. The game's structure was made in order to simulate the challenges of observing an environment from different perspectives and how much this can affect people. No livro 1984, George Orwell revela um futuro dominado pelo totalitarismo e pelo controle midiático. Inspirados nele e nos movimentos artísticos que culminaram na Semana da Arte Moderna de 1922 no Brasil, os estudantes montaram esse projeto com diversas obras, para que pudessem desenvolver uma visão mais crítica com relação a diferentes perspectivas de um mesmo evento. Os estudantes criaram um jogo que desafia o olhar crítico do participante, testando seu conhecimento nas diversas áreas do conhecimento. A estrutura do jogo foi feita com o intuito de simular os desafios para observar um ambiente de diversas perspectivas e o quanto isso pode afetar as pessoas.

In the end, they will be conducted to a final room, where they will be invited to analyze their own performance. Os pais entrarão na sala, como um jogo, em grupos. Eles vão ler mensagens e infos para responder as perguntas de cada fase. Ao final, serão conduzidos a uma sala final, onde serão convidados a analisar seu próprio desempenho.
