The Court Cotillion, sponsored annually by the m embers of the Freshman class, was held on April 30, 1949, in the Great H all with music furnished by T ed J ohnson and his orchestra. The Grand March, in which all members of the class participated, was the climax of an eventful evening. The March was led by Miss Ann Foran, who was queen of the dance, and her escort, Mr. Paul A. Callahan. Following in line were Miss Sarah Ann Conaty, general chairman of the dance, and her escort, Mr. Jam es P. Thorpe. Preceding the Grand March, Miss Co naty crowned the queen with a wreath of white sweet peas m arked with fern. The members of the Queen's Court were: Misses Patricia Monah an, Mary Frances O 'Hare, Patricia Fox, Barbara Storey, Ann Logan, Marybeth Coleman, Ann Heaney, and Mary D onova n. On Sunday morning, R ev. Fr. Dillon celebrated Mass in the college chapel at ten a. m. , follow ed by Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament and a luncheon in the cafeteria for the girls and their escor ts.

Miss M ary Sullivan of Dedham, Massachusetts, Sophomore in the field of ed ucation , was crow ned queen of "Moonlight Masque" by her escort, Edward Reilly of H oly Cross College. The dance was held in the Great H all on the evening of May 14, and was the first of the annual Sophomore spring formals. Music for the evening was prov id ed by the orchestra of Stan Moore, who selected Miss Sullivan to reign for the festivities . The setting of the dance carried out the theme of "Moonlight Masque" th rough spot-light moons, dancing on the front stone terrace, and a ce nter-piece of flowers in the dining-room depicting a crescen t moon and a mask. The queen was crowned with white sweet-peas on a platform planked with palms and set with two gold chairs for her and her escort, immediately after the an nouncement made by Frances Bridgema n, Co-Chairman of the dance.
