THE MAN BEHIND THE MAGIC

SF IS BACK! I couldn’t begin without giving a much-deserved shoutout to all our friends and clients that have stuck around this beautiful city over the past 2.5 years. Here in SF, it finally feels like life is bouncing back, not just to the point where places are open, but where people are truly out living again, and taking advantage of this gorgeous city. Some say San Francisco is the Paris of the Pacific, a city that will stand the test of time. Who's to say whether that will hold true, but I do know that I love it here, and that’s why I’ve called this city my home for the past nine years.

If you’re reading this, you’re getting to experience firsthand the very first in-person holiday zine we’ve ever done! The past two years have primarily been dedicated to entertaining behind Zoom. Last year we had the pleasure of putting together a few holiday parties, and throughout this year we’ve been having a blast meeting your teams in person for the first time! We’ve brought a wide array of events to your office, and have organized plenty of summer carnivals and team scavenger hunts.

I’m excited for this year's upcoming season, not just because I love the holidays, but also because it thrills me to witness all the venues and creative talent that we’re lucky to call our neighbors here in SF. Think of this zine as our top pick list for venues and tried-and-true entertainment — our hope is that it will help you make planning your company holiday party or happy hour seamless and unique. JONES A patio bar that brings the jungle right into the heart of the Tenderloin. Step off Jones street into this plant-lover’s paradise, featuring six huge planters filled with Mediterranean climate-friendly flora. Although labeled as a patio bar, 620 Jones has both indoor and outdoor spaces surrounding the central patio, and is a perfect venue for your daytime happy hour or your nighttime bash.

With such a large, variable space, everyone in your group will have plenty of space to spread out and find a spot that matches their vibe. Hire a live band to play indoors, and complement the music with fire spinners out on the patio. Or, take advantage of the next door building’s facade and project a movie or slideshow up on the wall.

This venue is a seamless blend of interior and exterior spaces, balancing a vibrant, noisy dancefloor with a peaceful, reflective outdoor space.

SF WHITECHAPEL When you first step up to this Tenderloin fixture, you’ll swear you’re staring at a 200-year-old castle. Below this castle, however, lies Whitechapel, the ideal cellar venue for your meetup. Three separate sections make up this gin bar, with booth seating available in each.

The dark, rich aesthetic offers just the right blend of security and mystery, leaving you itching to explore every corner of the venue.

Although it’s located conveniently in the Tenderloin, Whitechapel will make you feel like you’re partying in secret.

If you’re looking for a location to host your fancy board game night, casino night, or speakeasy party, Whitechapel might just be the space you’re looking for.

Back behind the dance floor is an elevated seating area with a 360 degree bar, perfect for those who like to take their drinks in their seats as they watch their colleagues break out their favorite dance moves. You and your team can take over this snazzy club to throw the party that will leave everyone talking.

THE PAWN SHOP What once was an iconic Soma pawn shop has been given new life as a secret tapas bar that can only be accessed by those with a bit of wit and patience. The entrance is guarded by the fickle pawn master, and only those who impress him enough will be allowed forward. Delve deep into your repertoire of skills and break out a song, poem, magic trick, joke, or anything else that deems you worthy of entering the pawn master’s secret hideout.

If you’ve got a small-to-mid-sized group, consider making this your gathering place for the night.

MINNA GALLERY WELCOME TO THE SOHO OF SANFRANCISCO Step off Minna street into this beautiful two-room gallery, with a vibe that screams “party time.” Periodic rotating exhibits vie for your attention around the walls of this beautiful Soma fixture, ensuring that there will always be something new to see every time you step in the door. If you’re looking to host a classy getdown or an artsy gala, this gallery is the hot spot in town.

Two bars and 4,000 square feet of space allow for large groups, and lend themselves to a spectacular affair, one that will bring out the artsy side in your whole team.

SOUTHERN

PACIFIC BREWERY HISTORIC MISSION Southern Pacific Brewing sits in a location with a history of transportation and industry.

The name is a tribute to the historical Southern Pacific railroad that once linked various cities in the western US and ran right through SF’s Mission District.

Occupying a former machine shop, Southern Pacific Brewing is located in a wide open warehouse space, and features 15 large barrels brewing up craft beer that is then served right at the bar. With plenty of indoor and outdoor space available, you can feel at ease and comfortable even with a medium-to-large-sized party.

The upper-level mezzanine and the somewhat isolated “alley” serve as ideal spots to gather a medium-sized group in a private or semi-private setting. This is the place for an event with a modern, industrial feel.

CAROUSEL

ANTIQUE SHOP In the heart of the Mission sits Carousel, an authentic furniture consignment shop that sends anyone who enters on a journey through time back to the Old West. This space features tons of wood and tin-paneled interior space, offering a cozy and satisfying ambiance. Back behind the main showroom, a saloon-style bar awaits guests who are looking for a smaller space to kick back. The room also features a record-listening loft, accessible only by a wooden ladder. For your event, we can set up some cocktail tables and lounge areas, tailored to your hangout style. We previously threw a Westworld-themed party here that was a raging success. Let us help you achieve the same results for your next hangout!

ARCANA WINE BAR FLOWER SHOP

Plant shop or natural wine bar? Why not both?

This quirky, modern greenhouse has it all: natural light, hanging art, beautiful architecture, and enough plants to fill a jungle. Arcana is great for a private happy hour or team get-together, especially if you’re looking to shake up your team’s day-to-day feel in a novel environment. Although most of this space is indoors, you’d hardly know it with plenty of sunlight. If you’re looking for some fresh air, step out into the small outdoor nook that faces the street. The “nature” of this space lends itself well to a lowkey band or DJ who can chill in the corner and serve up a series of earthy tunes.

GOTHAM CLUB

Unless you happen to be a pro baseball player (who’s played for the San Francisco Giants, New York Giants, or New York Gothams), chances are you’ve never seen the exclusive Gotham Club, located inconspicuously inside the out-of-town scoreboard at Giants Stadium.

Well, now is your chance to finally experience this one-of-a-kind club, with special views of the Field and McCovey Cove. Take over the Gotham Club for your upscale affair and enjoy the private dining area and swanky bar.

You can even hold your gala in the Game Room, complete with a bowling alley, pool table, arcade games, and a private, secret entrance.

PALACE THEATRE SPEAKEASY SF

At this North Beach gem, it’s easy to believe that Prohibition is still the law of the land.

For one night, you will have the privilege of taking over half of the infamous Palace Theatre in North Beach. Known for its immersive Speakeasy experiences, this 1920s basement theater, parlor, and underground casino has been built from scratch to take you back to the Prohibition age. The ornate, wood-paneled walls and patterned ceilings lend the space a dark yet inviting feel, and the carpeted gaming floor beckons even the most amateur gambler to try their hand at roulette. A wall-mounted bookshelf is sure to catch the eyes of the readers in your group.

GAMES UPON GAMES! Games upon games upon games! This arcade and game bar takes up three stories of a historic theatre on Divisadero Street. With so many levels full of games to make the time fly, this space is perfect for your large events, and can host up to 600 people! Embrace your childhood after-school passions and spend a day (or night) at the arcade! For smaller events, you can fill up one floor. This is the place to be if you’re looking for a venue that has all kinds of entertainment built in.

SF MINT The old SF Mint invites you to reminisce of a time when the city was young and growing into itself. Today, the Classical Greek Revival architecture of this historic landmark provides a blank canvas to outfit as you imagine and to bring the grandeur of your imagined event to life. Centered within the Mint is a vast, fully

enclosed stone courtyard, evoking images of an old European city square, but with the comfort of a roof overhead. Branching off the central courtyard are loads of side rooms that invite attendees to explore and imagine the rich history contained within these walls. The main floor features high ceilings and an open floor plan that offers plenty of space for lounge furniture, a plated dinner set up, or a reception-style party.

Towering above the main floor rests the mezzanine, boasting large windows with a striking view of the Bay and the Oakland Hills beyond. THIS HISTORIC CATHEDRAL transformed by Ken Fulk in 2018 into an art museum fit for royalty. On the main level of the cathedral, you’ll find eight small, intimate rooms decked out with ornate lounge furniture and draperies, perfect for partygoers to mingle with each other in small groups.

Up above the main level are elevated walkways that offer guests a panoramic view of the main floor below. The high ceilings and exquisite ornamentation of this SF landmark make you feel as if you’ve entered the upper echelons of high society. GALLERY 308 Bright natural lighting meets a polished industrial feel in this open gallery space.

Originally home to a bustling maritime repair shop, Gallery 308’s majestic picture windows look out over San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge, making it the perfect place to be awestruck by the beauty of this city.

With its open floor plan, this space is fully customizable to meet the needs of your event.

We’re highlighting some of our favorite holiday themes, paired with our top venue picks, entertainment options, and décor for each. We hope these groupings will serve as inspiration and help you consider ideas that might not have even crossed your mind. Customization is a talent of ours, and we’re happy to combine, transform, and embellish different aspects of your event to create the party of your dreams.

Dance through a winter wonderland as you get transported away to a world that could only exist near the North Pole.

Gaze in wonder at the jaw-dropping ease with which our aerial artists tumble through the air, only to somehow catch themselves seemingly in midair without hesitation. Watch our fire spinners whisk their flames in all directions, faster than the eye can follow. Remember to breathe as you witness trampoline jumpers, tightropers, and more demonstrate the powers of levitation. All the while, enjoy our wide selection of beverages from our full bar and sample a smorgasbord of delectable eats while listening to musical performances by our special guest musicians. VENUE 2: SMUGGLERS COVE If there’s one thing the Smuggler’s Cove staff knows like the back of a pirate’s treasure map, it’s the art of rum and cocktails. The perfect hideout for a group of pirates, this tiki haven contains the largest selection of rum in the United States, with over 80 cocktails based on centuries of tiki history. Riggings, barrels, and lanterns abound in this space designed to evoke a ship out to sea. Even the cocktails are served in tiki-inspired cups, each one betraying the scrumptiousness of the concoctions found within. Remember, those who fail must walk the plank! X marks the spot in our pirate’s treasure hunt! Once you find the prize hidden somewhere on the ship, you’ll be in for a real trrrreat!

Create your own eyepatch, tri-corner hat, or other favorite piece of pirate attire, We will hire a master craftsperson to help you add character to the accessories we provide. We may even reward a prize to the most creative crewmate!

As soon as you enter the door, you’ll forget you’re in the heart of SF, and will instantly teleport to the interior of a pirate ship headed out to sea. The dark wood plank walls pair with low, moody lighting to prepare you for a seafarer’s hunt for buried treasure.

The greatest pirates know how to fill their bellies. We will serve the best food available in the Seven Seas, with appetizers and a buffet chock full of delicacies that will ignite the spirit and make for a boisterous, exuberant evening.

Wash down the vittles with some ale or rum to fully round out the meal.

For some, the term suggests an intuitive sense of mystery or apprehension with echoes of Edgar Allen Poe’s work. For others, the jovial and carefree atmosphere of a Mardi Gras bash surfaces instead. Whatever image you associate with a party centered around the art of disguise, at a masquerade, the room is your oyster.
