March was a busy month for the agronomic team We had multiple member events and steady regular play. We prepared the golf courses for the Joyce Burns tournament, Ladies Member Guest and of course the Ryder Cup. We also had numerous irrigation issues throughout the month of March as well The irrigation team is working tirelessly to repair and improve the system so that we can irrigate the turf properly on a daily basis. March was unusually dry this year with several frost events and up and down temperatures. As the temperatures rose to growing weather, we began to push the grass in areas on the golf courses that we need to grow some grass in Warmer weather is certainly on its way through, and I look forward to growing out of the damage we sustained this winter on our non-over-seeded fairways. On greens we treat for all pests preventatively and the excessively cold and warm weather makes the Bermuda greens turns off color at times When favorable weather returns, and the grass breaks partial dormancy there is usually a flush of new growth that occurs that needs to be controlled through plant growth regulators to recapture more consistency on the surfaces. By remaining diligent with our weekly cultural programs, we will achieve this consistency which include: verticutting, light topdressing and venting In the month of April, we have another scheduled pre-emergent herbicide to apply Our weed management program is to apply a pre-emergent herbicide every two months to have a constant barrier to minimize the number of weeds that can germinate. From there we can spot spray any weeds that germinate Being consistent with these applications over a period of years will lead to weed free playing surfaces throughout the property We are making some progress here but still a long way to go. At this point on the Ranch project is tentatively set for the first week of June to begin. We are excited to get this anticipated project underway Staging will begin this month and we have selected a central area on #18 Ranch for project staging
