EDITOR’S DESK November’15 Dear Readers, It’s one of the most cheerful and fun loving times for families and friends as everyone gear up to look their best on this eve with distinctive styles of festivities. From the tiny tots to old grandmas, we all simply love and wait for these celebrations where the grandparents shower blessings to their grandchildren for this season. It’s an all in all, an astounding feeling for every one of us. The world and its celebrating themes must have changed by the new generation but celebrations and its ways of celebrating remain eternal. The oldies would be nostalgic and the youngsters find new ways to celebrate these occasions in their own style. So, we have probably featured every little detail about how people in the city are celebrating these festivities. In this festive issue, we’ve brought “Festive Glam”, where we have fashion designers giving their ideas on the new styles and trends that are coming up in fashion. As this issue is all on festivals, we have brought every other detail about the girls must have accessories i.e. footwear, jewelry, bangles and so on. Not to forget “Fashion Trends” where you have a look of the kinds of attires by the most happening designers of London, Paris, New York and Amazon India Fashion Week 2015. And as it comes to ladies, where they show their best talent we’ve got you “Perk up your kitchen space”. Then comes in the nutrition bit; we’ve got “Happiness in a box” where there is a nutritional box that arrives at your doorstep. “Check on your sugar” where our diabetologist takes us through all that you wanted to know about being diabetic. Last but not the least, covering up with some political rights where we’ve featured about “Know your rights” and bringing up a change for the betterment of the country as “Digital India” with reviews and opinions of the people of our city. We really love to come up with new ideas for our readers. I hope you all love the read.

Amer Beg

Amer Beg, a racer and above anything else, a father first and that is the most important role in life to him. You could call him a ‘Racing Dad’! Work: Work is racing and it is not the conventional 9-5 job. In fact, none of my work is in Hyderabad. I have to travel for racing or then to meet and fulfill sponsor obligations. So, work requires a lot of travel and time away from home. How has the journey been in this field? The journey is full of highs and lows. You have got to ride the highs and stay afloat during the lows. I am honored to be the first Indian driver to have been selected by Lamborghini. At every stage I couldn’t believe I was there, so, it’s been quite an experience. Tell us your story related to your career? I started off with carting for fun in Canada at the age of 25, which is too late to get into any sport for that matter. Strangely I won the championship. From there, I moved to India and competed in formula cars. Having tasted success in formula cars, I moved to GT cars in 2013. I can tell you that at every stage I’d be asking myself “Really? Are you going to drive this?”. It’s been surreal. 18 NOVEMBER, 2015

Mornings: I’m a hands-on father, so, I make sure I’m up every morning to drop my daughter to the play school and then I hit the gym for almost two hours. I’m always the one to pick my daughter up as well. Afternoons: The entire afternoon is spent doing work and around 5pm I take my daughter for swimming and I play with her quite a bit. Evenings: Evenings are exclusively for my parents and my daughter. While most people get to relax on weekends, I would have to travel for a race or for work. Leisure Time: I get very little sleep so I’d love to sleep in a little. Other than that, its family time or the usual, movies or hanging out with friends. My friends are very social, so, its hard to keep up with those guys.

LIFESTYLE

What does it take to be successful in the field you excel in? Perseverance, hard work and dedication. You must also be able to race a car under varying conditions, on new tracks and you’ve got to get it all together in an extremely short time frame. Tell us something about your family? My family consists of my daughter, my parents and I’ve also got 4 brothers, all of whom are in Canada with their families. We often think my parents and I look after my daughter but to be honest, I think she looks after all of us. She’s two and a half and an absolute delight. I fell sick recently and she got very concerned and remembered that she had made ice cream with her grandmother the night before so she grabbed a stool and tried to reach for the freezer to give me ice cream so I’d feel better. My day starts at around 6 am, I head to the track, do a track walk and then go through a briefing with my engineers. I try and get as much information from them as I can to learn more about the car so I can utilize that during the race. After the race we’re usually drained (we lose up to 2.5 kg’s) but we go back to the team garage for a debrief and see where we can further improve. I am finally back in the hotel by 10pm or so. Race weekends are extremely tiring and it’s important to conserve energy.

How is your usual day at work? On race day its game faces. I usually am the first person on the track and last person off it.

What is your next step, in terms of your work? As for 2016, we’re looking to do the Lamborghini Super Trofeo again. Along with this I hope to do the worlds most prestigious race, Le Mans. It isn’t easy because a lot of my work depends on sponsors and unfortunately in India most people only look at sponsoring cricket, but times are changing and I’m keeping positive. I wish there was more interest from the companies within Hyderabad.

Rapid fire 3 things you don’t leave home without? My cell phone, car keys and credit cards Where would you take your next holiday to? Lapland Soundest advice you have received by far? Keep your feet grounded One thing that cheers you up immediately? My daughter, Sehr, without doubt! Your idea of a perfect day? Relaxing in the farmhouse, atv’s, horses, etc. spending time with my family and end with a nice barbecue. Your strength? My family Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years? I would like to set up a race track in Hyderabad. Quick advice for young and budding entrepreneurs? It is good to aspire, but act on it, don’t make excuses. You’ve got to risk a lot sometimes but I assure you, regardless of the outcome it’ll be worth it. Your inspiration and why? My mother and father have always been my inspiration. I look at the way they conduct themselves and its remarkable that such people live in this world. Very few honorable, straight and genuinely good people out there. Your favorite cuisine? Anything my Mom makes. Not being biased but she makes the best food ever!

Being a Piscean, she possesses all the traits of generosity and being emotional. For her; life is all about exploring new things and places. Currently she is working as an interior designer and is quite passionate about her work. Is it a love or an arranged marriage? Rihana - Ours is an arranged marriage as per the society which we would not agree to as we took good two months to come to this lifetime decision of spending rest of our lives together. Our first meeting was organized by our parents here in Hyderabad, which I was completely unaware of. I was here with my cousins for a leisure trip and I got to know that I have to meet this guy the very same day. Initially I was just not ready for this, as I don’t believe in arranged affairs. But as it’s said, ‘What’s meant to be will always find its way’, this is exactly what happened with us. Despite all that; we spoke for good 1-2 hours on the first meeting itself. Getting to know a new person has always been my hobby. We shared a lot about us as individuals on our first meet itself. Then we started talking over phone once I returned to my hometown (Indore) and gradually we started developing that liking for each other. But one meet wasn’t enough for us. Hence I flew back to Hyderabad. We spent good 2-3 days knowing each other and enjoying each other’s company. And that’s it! Here we are today. One happily married couple. Best memorable moments: Rihana - Each day spent with him is equally astounding. But yes, we always make it a point that we give each other ample of time. Both of us

Know Your Rights! There is only one thing to which every citizen of the country looks out for - laws. They tend to make the current situation tentative or even prudently sanguine. Laws can sometimes also act as a leverage against an innocent, just for the sake of it, yet this doesn’t make them repulsive on a whole. Residents need to know the laws and rights that our constitution has provided to us to atleast claim against a charge to be annulled when we aren’t guilty. Having a decent knowledge about our rights is our prerogative. There are minuscule amount of laws we know about and a lot more righteous ones still exist : 1 . The Foreign Contribution Regulation Act 2010 Penalized for receiving gifts? Yes , they can be bribes. It has become a tradition for companies to send gifts! As these gifts can be carefully veiled bribes, the law is a smart move by the government to avoid situations of bribery. 2 . Income Tax Act 1961 The Tax recovery officer can arrest and release you. In case of tax violations, the TRO has the right to arrest you, though a summon has to be sent. The tax commissioner only decides how long can you be in custody, but your release will be decided by the TRO. 3 . Motor Vehicles Act No traffic violation laws for non-motorised vehicles. Though it has been clarified that a golf cart is not allowed on the road but there aren’t any penalties against non motor vehicles like cycles or rickshaws. 4 . The Limitation Act If you aren’t paid, file a complaint immediately. It states that if you aren’t paid by someone who is contracted to pay you, you need to file a complaint within 3 years. After that time period, your suit most likely will be dismissed, so being lazy about this is not an option. 5 . Domestic Violence Act Live-in relationships are not illegal. Though it is frowned upon in our country, but as long as both the adults are ready to stay together, live-in relationships are not illegal. Moreover, live-in relationships are considered to be ‘equal to marriage’ if certain conditions are met few of which are pooling of financial and domestic arrangements, entrusting the responsibility, sexual relationship, bearing children, socialization in public and intention, conduct of the parties, etc. Also, children born out of live-in relationships have the right to inherit their parent’s property. 6 . The Hindu Adoptions and Maintenance Act , 1956 It clearly states that if you have a Hindu son or a son’s son or a son’s son’s son, you cannot adopt another one. Same goes for a daughter. And the minimum age gap should be 21 years between the child and the adopter. 7 . Only female officers can escort women into the police station Not only do male officers have no right to escort a woman but she can refuse to go to the police station between 6 pm to 6 am. In case of a serious crime, a written permit from the magistrate is required for male officers to escort her. Let us look into a few other thoughts about the law system of our country from the citizens.

22 NOVEMBER, 2015

Michelle James

The constitution of India is the product of the country’s freedom struggle. I think the Indian personal law is pretty complex, with each religion adhering to its own specific laws. In most states, registering of marriages and divorces is not compulsory. Separate laws govern Hindus, Muslims, Christians, and followers of other religions. In a way, a democratic country is of great importance as we get to make a choice, whether right or wrong. The law is not very strong yet but a few changes wouldn’t do any harm. A particular social change may be good or bad, desirable or undesirable, sacred or profane, progressive or regressive depending upon the views and understanding of the observer. Our country has envisaged a lot of changes and many contemplating and researching on a lot of modern changes. The Indian law is right in it’s own way and I don’t think it requires any changes except for more concern on woman atrocities.

The Indian Judiciary administers a common law system of legal jurisdiction, in which customs, precedents and legislation, all codify the law of the land. The Constitution of India is the supreme legal document of its jurisdiction which extends throughout the territory of the country.

Supreeth Uday

Now the problem with the Indian judiciary system is that it is very slow. A case gets dragged through for years. Now here are a few methods I feel would help improve this defect from our judiciary system. Single step cannot speed up the judiciary in our country. A massive campaign on all fronts is needed. 1) A massive move is needed by the Government of India to decriminalize a whole slew of backward and archaic laws. We have a huge number of petty cases like defamation cases pending in courts. When we decriminalize petty childish things like defamation/homosexuality etc. many cases will be quashed and the judges can hear the more important cases like murder and rape. 2) A huge, enthusiastic campaign to encourage young people to take up Law as their degree. Advertisements in public places that display a positive message like “Upholding law saves lives” can be put up. Incentives like cheap college fees can be offered to people who take up law. This will probably boost the number of judges and lawyers in the system. 3) Singular punishments for certain crimes. A death penalty must be the only punishment for serious crimes like rape and drug smuggling. This will deter people from committing such crimes. But then, again these fronts should be lead by the government.

Angel Elizabeth

Comparing and contrasting democratic policies of India in the way it has functioned and justified. The constitution being the holy governance body of the country does good justification but our laws and the systems need amendments with the modern developments. Our reservations, our public policies, our election boards and defense have to be amended and all of these need to fit in with our modern policies and changeover which had been taken place from 1950’s. Liberty, justice and freedom are the base of a democratic government but the way majoritarian groups have manipulated the history of the country. Amendments are not easy but the structure of the country would change with slight changes. For example, the death penalty of section 27(3) has to have amendments and change its way in assigning a death penalty with the change in the regular capital punishment.

This show is the perfect example to showcase that. It’s interesting and it’s a bit different too.” When queried how long she spends watching the soap, she propounded, “I watch its repeat telecasts as well. My best friend’s a Punjabi. Shaima Jaweed Khan, an International Business student, is high on The Office. For this Office, she does not mind sitting through 9-5. In fact, she seemed willing to dedicate all her hours to it. Literally. “I love watching The Office because it captures the ordinary set-up of human life, but ironically in the most extraordinary manner possible: An ordinary job, ordinary people, and how they get through their day – but all this so exceptionally, that it puts you in a state of wonderment making you ponder how ordinary life could be so beautifully detailed!”, says the chirpy lady. She further elaborated her choice, “The show shows how every person has their own share of happiness in their own shades of life. You know? Post 9 seasons, and it still never fails to surprise me and teach me with every episode.” Favorite Character: Jim Halpert.

F.R.I.E.N.D.S

Prithvi Gude, who is pursuing Electrical Engineering, takes a break from his hectic life and confides in Friends. However, these friends exist within the boundaries of a screen alone. Well, now, who could dare say they know nothing about FRIENDS! FRIENDS, from time to time, has changed the lives of many and still continues to despite its end. It isn’t just a show, it’s a saga *drum roll*.. “It’s a sitcom about six friends, completely variant from each other, and the happenings around them in their not-so-monotonous lives. Every generation can relate to it at so many levels no matter how old it gets. I, personally, found myself jumping in agreement, screaming in joy, and even to the extent of falling on the floor laughing with every episode. It’s a show that makes it impossible for one NOT to fall in love with it!” exclaimed the Engineer-in-making. Favorite Character: Chandler.

FEATURE HUMSAFAR

Kaunain Fatima is one of those many sincere Fawad Khan devotees. Fan would be an understatement, bro. Like many among our population, Kaunain too is an enthusiast of the most celebrated Fawad Khan Pakistani drama –Humsafar. Kaunain enunciated with overwhelming endearment that Humsafar is a drama that will be unforgettable once its contagious tang has rubbed off on you. She claims, “The story line is so engaging that I could go on watching one episode after the other for hours at junction! Both the actors, Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed, have put up such outstanding performances –further providing a sense of depth to their respective characters.” Favorite Character: Who’d you think?

THE BLACKLIST

Sanen Longukumer, an accounts student has a preferential blacklist of her own. She explains, “The Blacklist is mainly focused on Raymond Reddington, an ex-con who is a worldknown and wanted criminal. But as per present episodes, he is now protected by a secret investigation organization funded by the top men of different countries and is currently working in the guise of FBI agency. He strikes a deal with the secret agency in which he agrees to give information of the top most dangerous criminals roaming around and the list of names is called the blacklist. Now what could be more interesting than that!” Sanen revealed, “My favorite part, so far in the show, was when a character played by Samar Navabi acts as a ‘double secret agent’ to make a criminal slip his tongue, spill secrets. She’s one of the good guys. Cliché, but I liked it.” Favorite Character: Dembe, Raymond Reddington’s right hand man. 26 NOVEMBER, 2015

The show has recently also addressed mental health issues like anxiety and has always discussed racism and classism which makes it all the more interesting.” When asked how long she prefers to spend on her Suits, she responded grinning from ear to ear, “I watch it very religiously. Mrs. Bilquis Sultana, a capable housewife, has apparently been pretty furious. When interrogated, she proposed how daily soaps shouldn’t drag in on the suspense as much as they do. She fulminated, “Swara and Ragini are sisters, and they turned Ragini into the evil sister. Episode after episode, Swara continued to be unsuccessful in disclosing Ragini’s identity. Now finally when everything is becoming alright, they are dragging in the dramatic part. However weird it is, however regardless of the frustration shows like these develop within us; we can’t help but watch it.” Mrs. Sultana admitted, “It’s still a very good show. It’s a break us housewives get from our day to day work. It’s kahaani ghar ghar ki.” Favorite character: Swara

Azyaan Ali Khan, a 9th class student, is all about science. Even with reference to electronics, he takes minimal interest in the appearance of the gadget and is concerned more about how it must have been made. An aspiring Engineer, the young man suggests every individual to watch and follow F.A.Q. on Pogo channel, regardless of their age. He persuades, “The host of the show, Prateek, is a genius who comes up with new experiments in every episode, but not like our Chemistry or Physics teachers [oops]. He’s young, and maybe thus succeeds every time by the virtue of his simple, even still descriptive and illustrative explanation. It’s easy to grasp and easier to learn!” The smart monsieur concluded, “Books are great, but if taught in a practically interesting manner as done in F.A.Q., I feel one learns faster.” Favorite Character: The robot 28 NOVEMBER, 2015

Who isn’t as mad as hatter about black and white films, especially if it’s one casting the legendary Audrey Hepburn? Audrey’s ‘Roman Holiday’ takes you on a trip of its own. Speaking of the film, on Rubaina Bilgrami’s special request, everything will be quoted just as she put it. Quoting the Audrey disciple: “Roman Holiday has always had a special place in my heart not only because my all-time-favorite actress Audrey Hepburn is in it, but also because in a time when all girls were fed stories about how they should wait for their prince and give up everything for a man, I was introduced to this story about a young princess who just wanted one day out of the limelight. She did not want to wait for anyone. She wanted to jump out on her own, on a whimsical journey to self discovery. She wanted one day to go out and experience life to the fullest, not having to make public experiences or be presentable.” She further attempted to enlighten the uninformed crowd, which is still oblivious and heedless of the hues in black and white films, by substantiating, “This movie taught me how not everything is a fairytale, and that more than anything, what is required is to be sensible. My favorite part is the ending which blew me away with its simplicity, realism and reasonability. The chemistry between Audrey and Gregory Peck is very beautiful too.” Favorite Character: The obvious.

‘I AM TROUBLE BY KC’

I am Trouble by KC is a Delhi based fashion label founded by Kunal chatterjee offers bright bold clothing, footwear and accessories for men and women. Their collections are notoriously colourful, bold and always with an element of weirdness. Their design philosophy is not trend driven but focused on their unique directional vision referencing high street clothing and youth troublesome nostalgia. “I like to design clothes that will make you smile and relate. Think of it as the ultimate, in alternative meets punk meets rockabilly shopping destination based on troublesome nostalgia and modernity’s obsession. I was never serious about work, I was busy chilling entire life till last year, least bothered what was happening around, living the life of a backpacker most of the time and whenever i was in town, I was chilling around the town. The brand name, ‘I AM TROUBLE BY KC’ came in my mind when I was labelled as a trouble child by my parents and the so called society. Even though I was not serious about work, but I always kept an eye on the global design circuit and kept myself updated. I read a lot of design blogs; trend forecast and followed quirky work by designers around the world. Our pieces are easy on prices; we sold out our summer 15 collection online in just 30 days. People appreciate our pieces in every trunk show we do all over the country. Target audience is less for us but who so ever take our pieces home are surely the X factor of the lot. I will not say we are different, there are many quirky brands in India today, we are just doing what satisfy my design skills keeping the business side in mind. To survive I need business, to stay happy I need satisfaction of my design skills. What’s next: We are trying to take it global from next year. At present we are only available in India. We are getting many international customer queries, so soon we will deliver across the globe.” Find them on: www.iamtroublebykc.com, FACEBOOK: https:// www.facebook.com/KunalChatterjeeByKunalChatterjee INSTAGRAM: https://instagram.com/iamtroublebykc/

“I always wanted to do something on my own since my post graduation days. So then, I came up with this idea to start my online venture of Clothing, jewellery and bags/clutches. I have launched my jewellery collection just few months back and the response has just been great. I have curated the best designs and journey for me has just begun. The most integral aspect of my collection is I curate the best designs with quality consciousness alongside nominal prices. I have something for every women/girl in their price range. The quality makes contemporary and traditional designs popular among the youth, especially our target market that is girls/women from 16 to 35 years of age. What encouraged me to step in was the support from my family and friends. Special mention to my dad who has always motivated me to take this journey ahead as an entrepreneur. I did my post graduation in Business Administration, but was always inclined towards fashion. When I came up with this venture, I believed that I may not have a degree in fashion but I will learn and grow through my experiences. That determination to learn has helped me build my confidence. Social networking has been a great promotional source for introducing my designs to customers in the online market. It has been a soothing way to interact with customers and cater their references. Kittu’s closet has loyal facebook and instagram followers and has always been complimented and appreciated by the people. Also the celebrity stylists have been a great source to feature our jewellery. TV celebrities like Rashmi Desai for Nachbaliye and Dipika Singh for Dia aur baati TV show (for gold awards 2015) have been seen flaunting our jewellery. It has helped me get more customer build up. What’s next: Apart from jewellery, I want to expand my clothing line and bags/ clutches collection. Kittu’s closet initially began with range of clothing and bags, but now I find myself more drawn towards jewellery and accessories. I do customized designing for my clients but clothing and bags as a line will be a thought again when the right time arrives. I am also looking forward to stock my jewellery collection on online websites. In the near future, also want to start international shipping and enter the international market too. Bhai Dooj with the Mawle’s

Bhai Dooj, is the festive bond between a brother and a sister. We have Hansika and Ashwin Mawle, who share with us what they do on this special day and give us an insight into how they celebrate it.

T

ell us about your family and what kind of a bond you share? Ashwin: We are totally three siblings, our elder sister lives in Miami and then it’s me and my younger sister. We always were brought up with great values, loads and loads of love, abundant freedom and still always a lot of room for craziness. More than being siblings, we are more or best friends. To explain the bond we share is kind of difficult because at home I feel we are the ideal brother and sister sharing lot of love, emotion and happiness but when we step out to party or hang out, we are best friends and at times we are partners in crime. Could you describe a typical Bhai Dooj celebration at home? Hansika: The day starts with lot of anxiousness and happiness as it is this day I get to empty my brother’s pocket! After bhaiya’s tilak we plan our day, from having lunch together, little bit of shopping, some fun out with cousins and end up with family dinner. Ashwin: The day starts with waking me up impatiently because she very well knows that her bucket lists gets fulfilled and then we jump into our new clothes, feasts on mom’s delicious lavish breakfast, where she makes sure she cooks all our favorites especially for us. How do you make it special? Ashwin: No matter which part of the world I am, I make sure I come home to my sister to spend this special day with her. Hansika: He is such a globe trotter; he makes sure he spends this day with me. Best memorable moment of your festive togetherness by far? Hansika: There are so many best memories and every year be it Rakhi or Bhai Dooj, we make sure we have best time together and make that an amazing memory. All I can just say is each year is a new and much beautiful memory we create. Like this year, for Rakhi he flew all the way from London - Miami Just to spend this day with us by giving us a surprise landing at the door.

Diwali with the Simlai’s

SPECIAL

Light up your Diwali this season, as we celebrate with Ananya and Anirban Simlai and their two children, they give us an insight into their Diwali celebration!

ell us about your family and what kind of a bond you share? Anirban - It always feels like we know each other over years and only made for each other. Ananya - We are a very close-knit family with two lovely sons, we have a very friendly equation because we believe that sharing and communication is the key to our well being. We do everything as a family and include everyone while taking a decision. You will be amazed to know how my little one, aged 7 years only, contributes! Could you describe a typical Diwali celebration at home? Ananya - Diwali celebration at home starts with cleaning the home, purchasing new clothes for all and ofcourse a few no-sound crackers since Diwali is a festival of lights, signifying the victory of righteousness to us. We avoid buying excessive crackers and instead give new clothes and gifts to the not-so-privileged ones. We illuminate the entire house with ‘diyas’ and invariably have the ‘choddo saag’ which is a mix of 14 herbs which is believed to drive the evil out and usher in the positive energies. Diwali sweets and gifts are exchanged in abundance signifying the love and blessings of all around. Diwali, for us, has also been synonymous to Kaali Puja with a lot of grandeur and pomp.

How do you make it special? Ananya - We make our Diwali special by keeping it a very warm and enjoyable one. We actively participate with the kids in all that they plan for Diwali and every year, it turns to be ‘the best Diwali so far’. This very fact gives us immense joy. Best memorable moment of your festive togetherness by far? Anirban – It is definitely Pandal hopping at Calcutta, the whole night with the entire family during pooja days. Tell us about how you spend time together as a family usually? Anirban - Chilling at home, watching movies, going to restaurants and having family outings. Any special message to our readers for Diwali? Anirban - Have a safe Diwali and keep your surroundings clean. Do not disturb anybody with sounds of crackers. Do not pollute atmosphere. Try to save energy and money and do something for the needy people around you. Eat & shop well. Ananya - Deepavali means row of lights. It is a symbol of victory of light over darkness. People celebrate Deepavali as they have come to light out of darkness. So, let only light prevail in this universe and may we eradicate all that is dark!

Thanksgiving with The Kotha’s It’s that time of the year again and we are celebrating with Nikhil and Natalia Kotha, they give an insight into their celebrations this year.

ell us about your family and what kind of a bond you share? Natalia - We both have been brought up in an atmosphere where values and principles have always been given priority. Our parents have always been a great source of motivation in our lives. A part where our siblings play a role in being supporting in nature and pets that comfort us. The bond that links our true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other’s life. Could you describe a typical Thanksgiving celebration at home? Natalia - In India, Thanksgiving is not celebrated but in our family we make it a point to spend one sunday together and be treated to a table with variety of food cooked by our beautiful parents. With everyone busy in our own lives, this is a day we get to share with each other by celebrating life as one family How do you make it special? Nikhil - The only way we make it special is to be there no matter what and spend the evening just with our family. Family is the one constant element in life and we need to value it the most.

Best memorable moment of your festive togetherness by far? Natalia - Every festival spent together has its own beautiful and treasured moments. The best memorable moment for me was last year when two beautiful people became a part of our family, My husband Nikhil and my nephew Blake. Tell us about how you spend time together as a family usually? Natalia - As a family, we make it a point to have a meal together. It’s the perfect time to set aside distractions and just talk about your day and what’s going on in your life. Through conversation we build and make connections. And frequent conversations help keep those connections alive. We also step out for movies and dinners. Sometimes, just the youngsters go out and chill together. I believe the time spent with family is time well spent.

Was fashion always your passion? I am graduate from NIFT Hyderabad and my journey with design, clothes, Jewelry, furniture started way back since I was a kid. I belong to a jewelry family and my father had a very keen eye for aesthetic detailing. He is an antique collector be it - jewelry, chandeliers, furniture, clothing, paintings, or artifacts. As a child I was fascinated by his entire collection, especially the garments he procured from the Nizam royalty. It was not too long after being surrounded by my creative parents I released that clothes are medium through which I wanted to let me creativity be seen to the world. On Lakmé Fashion Week debut: As a Debutant I feel privileged to get such a prestigious platform as Lakmé Fashion Week. The collective creative energy at Lakmé is extremely captivating. Having received the encouragement, support and appreciation from all quarters has left me with a very satisfying and gratifying experience and defiantly applause to the entire team of Lakmé for pulling for such an event with extreme professionalism. I am humbled and grateful to receive acknowledgement and appreciation for my hard work. I am very thankful for all the constant support from my peers and family. Participation in LFW has given me a platform to reach out to various market segments. Buyers from all over India and abroad are keen on associating with my label. The exposure my collection received has opened up many new business avenues for us and it’s just overwhelming in a very good way. Inspiration behind your collection: I think I’ve always been

a lover of classics and I love to dig into history and look into the past for various inspirations and like you can see in my previous collections I’ve been inspired by the French embroidery called the petted point, I’ve loved doing the Russian collection as well and the collection I’m working on right now is also based on a distinct chapter of history. It’s like I’ve always looked back before I went forward in my career. Fashion forecast for this festive season: This season, as always colors are bright and traditional. A lot of fusion silhouettes like the dhoti pants, skirts, Peplum tops, crop tops, drapes, capes are in. Prints are only getting bigger and more intricate. The usage of Indian textiles is growing massively and I urge and request people to promote our Indian artisans and weavers as we Indians can make the best and the finest fabric in the world. Fashion to me is: Fashion is ever changing and ever growing, It’s great to be aware of upcoming trends but one has to choose what suits them very intelligently keeping their personality and body type in mind. Sans to following trends blindly! Fashion is a medium to speak about oneself without having to say anything. If not a designer what would you be? I would certainly be a choreographer, because dance has always been my first love and back then there wasn’t any facility for me to get myself trained in dance or something to do with dance. Or I could also be into fitness, I’m a big health freak I could have been a fitness instructor or a yoga instructor. So, either dance or something to do in health.

“We are playing a lot with solid, bold and classic colours. When there is too much fashion in the air, it’s time to go back to the tried and tested stunners. This season we are doing a lot of thread work in tone on tone combos that have a lot Swarovski crystal. Colours like peach, powder pink, mauve, Ivory white and blush tones are hot favourites. The panel jacket gowns are the new trends for pre bridal functions. We did that style for Soha Ali khan for her visit to Hyderabad. She did this look sans any jewellery and looked like a princess. Destination weddings are big, so brides prefer light weight lehangas in shades of red. Shades like Crimson, ruby red and maroon look beautiful in wedding pictures, so the brides want to stick to those Colours. For brides we are doing a lot of slim fit mermaid cut ghaghras with dabka and flat zardozi. Loud stone work is completely out and must be avoided if you want to look like a contemporary bride. Add some Dutch roses in the hair to give a dash of surreal feel and get the bridal charm. It’s good to deck up on diamonds and big chunky uncut jewellery. The gherdar Kalidar is our signature. It has more than 18mts of flair, It’s a must have for small sangeet or cocktail do where you want to have an English look and still look relevant . It’s light weight yet pretty voluminous. For men’s ivory gold, Chandan gold and antique copper are best . A bold groom can also go for a pure white hand embroidered chikankari shervani. “Jewel tones such as Emerald, Sapphire and Amethyst, combination of black and white, a deep Marsala red and hints of berry colours such as plum are the rage this season. Silhouettes which mix fit and volume are trending; drapes are in as well as are the key shapes such as capes and pleated palazzos. The kurta gets a makeover as it becomes almost floor length and has trompe ‘oiel layering incorporated into it. Draped kurtas, sheer elements, interesting details for sleeves and necklines dominate the season. The sari blouse takes centre stage and is a couture garment by itself paired with lighter or heirloom saris. Surfaces become interesting and intricate, with abstract floral’s, bird motifs, feathers and textures making garments interesting. The preview in Hyderabad was wonderful and customers seemed to have clicked with the aesthetic and the fresh appeal of the clothes. I always find it wonderful to engage with clients and get their feedback. We catered to 6 year old girls who wanted a custom made lehenga as well as brides and women in their 50s too... so it was wonderful. I love Hyderabad as a city and it’s always great to be there!” Find his collection at : 476, Elahe Milestone, Road No.10, Banjara Hills, Ph: 2335 0130 you can also visit his website: http://www.nachiketbarvedesign.com/ or shop online at Pernia’s Popup Shop 42 NOVEMBER, 2015

Fantastic Footwear

Read an exclusive interview with a young and talented shoe designer Aishni Zaveri who has her own label called ‘Chaussure’ doing really well for her and has gained a recognition in a very short span. While she talks about her journey, shoe designing, and more about shoes… read on to know more and pick you favorite for this festive season.

As an individual Aishini Zaveri is a very ambitious, career oriented, travel lover and perfectionist in her work. She adds, “When l was a little girl I have always dreamt of designing. I used to design clothes and accessories for my dolls when I was a kid. Getting that dream to reality is what happened to me. Having done my masters from UK in accounting and finance; then working with Price water house cooper for almost 3 years made me take a decision to switch and pursue my long lost hobby of designing. So, I did a diploma course in shoe designing from the Footwear Designing and Development Institute (FDDI), Mumbai. While I learnt a lot about shoe making I developed my interest in customized shoes. How did your label breathe its first air? The label was started in June 2014 out of my love for shoes. My passion for shoe designing and glamour made me chase my dream and make it into a reality. “Chaussure” in French literary mean “shoes”, which is all about spoiling a woman with their love for a pair of designer shoes. We specialize in customizing designer shoes in both Indian and Western Footwear. What is one most common misconception that people have about footwear? The most common misconception people have about footwear would be that they believe all shoes don’t suit everyone. But I believe buying any pair of shoes is always a good buy; it’s important to feel confident in it. Confidence in yourself shall make you look like a princess. “Stylish footwear aren’t always uncomfortable” your take on this Not Necessarily all stylish footwear are uncomfortable; the right shoe size, with the right heel and above all the right cushioning in all stylish shoes can make a women look prettier than ever. After all they say, “Strong women wear their pain like stilettos” What is the USP of your label? The USP of my label is that each pair is treated “as a piece designed with delicate intricate detailing and a dash of colour. Our collection has always been inspired with various forms of life, art, culture, and colours and detailing. Every single pair of shoe is different from other and you shall never find two of the same ever. It has always been very detail orientated, but I have gone from embellishment to nudity– from designing for a woman that likes to be dressed to designing for a woman that likes to be simple. Our Motto has always been, “Be simple but let it be classy”. How has the journey been so far? The journey so far has been fantastic. My brand is doing really well and I am looking forward to collaborating with new designer labels. What’s next for your brand? Our brand is always been very creative and I believe creativity has no boundaries and can go on and on. So, the next step into the future will be creating as many as unique concepts and get them to alive is our motto. Advice to young and aspiring shoe designers? Our advice to the young budding designers would be - follow your heart, be focused and remain patient; hard work shall definitely payoff. Gifting Delight

With Team Embellish

Festive season is all about gifting and these process is going to go on and on until new years, well for now, and then the season begins again. Well what we mean to say no matter what the occasion gifts are the first that hits our mind to surprise our loves one, the task of finding a perfect gift is already a hectic one and so the packaging shouldn’t be. We bring you one of our favourite pick of the season, who expert n the packaging, that they can do for you or send in ready boxes so all you have to do is get your stuff in and add your love to it. Because it’s all about personalising.

“Team Embellish began as a hobby with my passion in design, as I was in that part of my life when I needed to do something more creatively engaging. With a background in arts and graphic design, I decided to transform this passion into a financially resourceful opportunity, and started a venture to provide an interpretation of my vision to clients seeking a personal touch. Creating bespoke gifting solutions, we offer personalised stationery & contemporary packaging with its own elegance and glamour. It caters to clients across diverse mediums: corporate or households. Our product range include note cards, envelopes, gift tags, gift boxes, wine skins, gift wrap, gift tissue and much more for fancy packaging, while our latest addition of home accessories include wall hangings and quote frames. Still an amateur in the industry, we have received an overwhelming response with lots of love and appreciation from our clients, since we first went live last year. What makes us different is that we focus on every nitty gritty important to our client in customization, of course at affordable prices, and provide easy, quick solutions to packaging, needless to say, never compromising on the overall display and exclusivity of our products. In an attempt to move away from the traditional gift wrapping techniques, we have come up with a lot of modern designs and prints which help us stand out from the rest. With the new trend of online shopping gathering heat in India, it has become important to build visibility on this portal either through social interactions or sale of products. With our social media page gaining traction, we have initiated our online presence through collaboration with Chic House, where our products would soon be available on www.chichouse.co. We are also working towards building our own website that would most likely go live early next year. Meanwhile, we plan to participate in a lot more pop ups across the country and spread the love for pretty looking gifting solutions.” Says Ayushi Jain, Founder Team Embellish Find them on: Ph +91-98330 70553, Email : teamembellish@ gmail.com, Instagram: @teamembellish Facebook: www.facebook.com/ teamembellish

The Gourmet Box

“We wanted to create a curated website for locally made and imported Gourmet products. You have numerous products on the shelves of the supermarkets and you get so overwhelmed looking at all of them that you ultimately leave with a product or a brand that you are familiar with. In this process you miss out on trying some fabulous products and brands which you might not have much information on or are not familiar how to cook with them. That is when we came with the idea of a curated website for gourmet products that are specially tasted and selected by our team and put up on the website. We give out a lot of information on the products, primarily on recipe and pairing ideas through our subscription boxes, social networks, blog and weekly newsletter. When we started the website 2 years back we were only delivering in Mumbai. However; since January 2015 we are delivering pan-India. The response has been great from other cities primarily due to non availability of gourmet products. Also we feel that our palates are evolving due to increase in travel and TV shows like Master chef that have encouraged us to experiment with new dishes and cuisines. The Box has a new theme every month and contains 4 to 5 full sized products with information card on how to use these products along with a recipe card.” Adds co founder, Himanshi Edge. With no minimum amount order policy, this Mumbaibased service eliminates even the penny-est shipping charges for order above Rs.1000. This place has the best ‘Plum and Passion Fruit Mojito’ in town among wide array of mocktails and cocktails, their ‘Lota Drink’ is quite famous, we would also recommend ‘Avalanche’. For starters we went with ‘Mild Cheddar, Corn & Jalapeno Cakes’ these are must order if you have a vegetarian company and so is ‘OB Falafel & Mezze’. One thing that we love about this place is that each dish tastes very authentic. The platter includes hummus, tzatziki with falafels & homemade pita. Also try their ‘Summer Mengo & Jalapeno Salad’ while you wait for your main course or just enjoy it with your choice of drink. ‘Twice Cooked Chicken Wings’ made with homemade barbecue sauce is by far the best. Be ready to turn all messy and lost in foodgasmic world. ‘The Ob Classic Margherita’ pizza is classic combination of roma tomatoes, basil & mozzarella drizzled with generous amount of extra virgin olive oil is a total heaven for pizza lovers, the thin crust and overload of cheese, the flavour of basil and olive is very mild but adds to the essence of the dish. ‘OB Fish & Chips’ and ‘Hot Dog’ along with ‘Overnight Braised Chicken Legs’ makes for a perfect gastronomical day. For desserts we went with ‘Melon & Vanilla Panna Cotta’ which has watermelon & mint sorbet, honey comb as there many ingredients and just when we thought we were done, there came the cherry on top for the evening- ‘OB Insanity Cake slice’ bistros heartiest offering with multiple layer of dark chocolate mousse, orange flavoured white chocolate mousse & red currant mousse layered b/w two varieties of moist genoise & coco sponge, finished with farm fresh vanilla cream. Jewel of Nizam - The Minar -Hyderabadi, Mughlai

Popularly known as the fifth Minar in the city of Nawabs, Jewel of Nizam is a fine luxury dining restaurant with an exquisite experience. If you are in for a royal treatment, this is definitely the place for you! The Minar; located on a 100ft high tower with an extremely good view in the Golkonda resorts & Hotel is a tribute to the iconic Hyderabadi cuisine. The entrance of the restaurant gives you a small preview of Nizami feel which you are about to witness; it is beautifully decorated with a huge portrait of Nizam Sarkar and some real valuable jewelry. To start off, you are escorted to the top of the Minar with a special booking in your name as they prioritize this for you to dine with them. It is indeed a jewel which so deeply connects to the nizami culture, history and food; a huge restaurant which is perfectly designed with a large seating capacity. Not only have they taken care of the ambience but have included amazing glasses, plates and cutlery that reflect royalty. We opted for Daawat-e-Sagarmahal – with a five course meal that savors the best of Hyderabadi Cuisine in a single experience. It commenced with welcome beverages which were served on our arrival, followed by Masala Shorba and then starters like Gosht Sheekh Kebab which was so tender, Lassoni Murgh cooked to perfection and Ajwain fish tikka that was as delicious as it looked. For Main Course, we were served a plethora of Indian curries - Veg and Non-Veg both with choice of bread like Naan/Roti/Aloo Kulcha. The meal consists of Dal Makhani, Gosht Taar Khorma, Murg Hara Masala, Subz khandari, Aloo Aap ki Pasand and Paneer Makhan Masala. A meal is incomplete without the delicacy that defines our city; Murgh Dum Biryani which was pleasantly aromatic and scrumptious. We ended the majestic meal with relishing on some Hyderabadi Meetha - Khubani ka Meetha and Kaddu ka Halwa which was out of the world and trust us when we say that, we really mean it in every sense. This place will surely get you coming back for its food, service & ambience and over all a wonderful culinary ride. The Golkonda Resorts & Spa, Sagarmahal Complex, Gandipet, Tel - +91 40 2419 3000

TECHNOLOGY What is Digital India? It is a government program that imagines smooth and effective governance, by taking so as to utilize web innovation and a comprehensive approach so that the general population of the nation turns into the genuine beneficiaries. The objective of this project is envisioned as nine pillars.

Changing India - By Ayesha Mohammed

Vision of Prime Minister Digital India includes broadband highways, mobile connectivity, public access to web, governance, e-delivery of services, data accessibility, manufacturing, openings for work and fleeting objectives, for example, regular Wi-Fi access, biometric attendance system and e-books for schools.

As India seeks to lay emphasis on e-governance and transform itself into a digitally empowered society, I proudly support Modi ji’s visionary of Digital India. In today’s world, Internet is not a service, it’s a platform. This revolutionary dream of Digital India can bridge the gap between rural and urban areas by digital connection & empower our citizens to drive innovation. Digital India would make the Government proactively engage with the people via social media to provide services more efficiently thereby curbing corruption. It includes schemes like Public Internet Access Programme, Digital Locker, e-education, e-health, e-sign, e-Governance, e-Kranti (Electronic delivery of services), Information for all, National Scholarship portal and many more to ensure that government services are available to all the citizens electronically, thus making the process hassle free and less time-consuming. It’s amazing that we can use MyGov Mobile App, Aadhaar mobile app etc., on our mobile and now our government services are just-a- click away. I feel proud to be part of a County like India where we have Iconic and Dynamic Leaders like Narendra Modi ji (Our Honorable 68th Prime Minister) who have taken such a revolutionary step to transform the country. “The world used to think we are a land of snake charmers and black magic. But, our youth has surprised the world with its IT skills. I dream of a digital India.” – Narendra Modi Seema M SharePoint Admin

Approach “What’s really astounding is the fact that there are still nearly one billion people in India who aren’t online. We’d like to help get these next billion Indians online—so they can access the entire web, and all of its information and opportunity,” Google CEO SundarPichai Google says, it will bring public Wi-Fi to 400 train stations throughout India. It’s taking a tiered approach: 100 of the busiest train stations will get Wi-Fi first, followed by the remaining 300.

What is Net neutrality? Net neutrality also Internet neutrality, or net equality is the principle that Internet service providers and governments should treat all data on the Internet as same, and not discriminating or charging differentially by user, content, site, platform, application, type of attached equipment, or mode of communication.

TULIP

TECHNOLOGY

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Facebook in the search of external support for Digital India program has brought obvious wilderness between the ideas of Digital India and Make in India another ambitious project of the government. In support with this, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Sunday changed his Facebook profile photo ahead of his townhall interaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Showing his support for the Prime Minister’s “Digital India” initiative, Zuckerberg wrote in a post on Facebook: “I changed my profile picture to support Digital India, the Indian government’s effort to connect rural communities to the internet and give people access to more services online”. So, why would we not be able to construct a computerized India by turning our own particular entrepreneurial aptitudes to great account? All objectives of Digital India can be accomplished locally without much external support. Government foundations and Indian entrepreneurs can be engaged in for their development. It is to be perceived how imaginatively the multinational goliaths like Facebook and Google can take part in the Digital India program in its present structure. “Internet privacy” has turned into an ironic expression today. Facebook has been confronting opposition from the general population about its presumptive meaning of net neutrality through internet.org, which is only aset of standards on the way people use the internet.

In my opinion world is moving fast towards digitalization and lot of processes are getting digitalized. We must think out of box from traditional methods to see how we can take help of digitalization in each of the business processes like managing, manufacturing, selling, marketing, payments & all other things. Digitalization will leverage your resources and time which you have to control or you will be left behind in the today’s highly competitive world. It’s also a great means of all type of communication to customers, marketing, and research, internal or with authorities. Faiza Basheer B.A. Psychology

The world is heading towards technology, so why India be left far behind! This Digital India step will be leading India towards digital literacy. Indeed there will be an increment in career opportunities, Industrial growth and most importantly learning will reach to the rural parts of India digitally. And the 9 pillars of digital India which the govt. aims to fulfill, will surely bring about a change. So, why would we not support it? This is just the beginning... India has a lot to achieve! Sadiya Khan Software engineer

Internet is an indispensable part of our lives. Digital India exists because many Indians do not know what Internet is. It aims to provide e-governance i.e. getting government services through the internet. It reduces corruption because there is no scope of taking bribe as all services are through the internet. A farmer can access the same facilities as those who are in Delhi. It aims to provide access to online education. Just imagine the millions of rural children in remote areas getting educated by learning on the internet or by getting taught by teachers in another location. Right now most of the IT jobs go to urban India and Digital India aims to provide jobs to rural India too. So yeah! I support it but I hope that the Government really invests into it to make it a successful scheme. Abrar Athar Hashmi CSE (Student) NOVEMBER, 2015 63

Nirbhaya Documentary, Banned In India, Gets Meryl Streep’s Backing for Oscar India’s Daughter, a documentary based on the 2012 Delhi gang-rape, has opened in the United States to acclaim with Hollywood star Meryl Streep saying it deserves to win an Academy Award. The documentary was banned in India in March this year. Will BCCI Make Vineet Kulkarni A Scapegoat for Their Error?

The heat may be on umpire Vineet Kulkarni due to his poor decision in the ongoing series against South Africa, but it looks like he is not at fault entirely. A loophole in BCCI’s working procedure has allowed the Maharashtra umpire Vineet Kulkarni to remain as India’s number one match official for more than two years now.” There has been no BCCI umpires’ sub-committee’s assessment meeting for the last two years. MOVIES Movie Reviews Bruce lee The movie proves all the talk is just publicity as he hasn’t changed his style much though there is less comedy. Indeed, lack of entertainment is a sore point of this movie. Once again, he has selected a flimsy and predictable story. Post interval bang, Sreenu Vaitla brings his formula of comedy situations into the screenplay but his comedy has fallen flat this time. Probably this is his least entertaining movie. Especially in the second half it is apparent that the director has just done some hungama to cover up the lack of a proper story. All in all, average first half, good songs and dances, Chiranjeevi’s appearance, some good sentiment scenes are the strengths of this commercial entertainer.

Name a few of your favorite authors and books? My favorite author is Paulo Coelho. I also admire Dan Brown, Rhonda Byrne, Nicholas Sparks and Robin Sharma as authors. My favorites books are David copper field (the first ever novel I read), Heidi, like The Flowing River, Alchemist and The Secret.

TULIP

FORTUNE

Forecast For November

SCORPIO

2015

(born October 23 - November 21) Although your emotions float dangerously close to the surface while the angel visits your sign, you have the presence of mind to keep sensitive issues to yourself. Instead of talking strategy, you’re ready to act on your feelings while courageous Angels harmonize with passionate cards. Although your moods fluctuate throughout the month, your resolve remains steadfast and you won’t be easily deterred from your destination. Fortunately, you can make great progress now as long as you don’t try to cut any corners along the way. Try not to have any expectations if there’s a friend you have a crush on. By the same token, if a friend offers you love life advice, take it with a grain of salt.

SAGITTARIUS

(born November 22 - December 21) A recent shake-up of the status quo might have seemed exhilarating in the moment, but now you realize it will only take you so far. Others may not fully approve of your need to create change because they only see what’s working well. Meanwhile, your inner restlessness won’t leave you alone until you do something about it. There’s a time for bending in the wind, but this month you must be the strong and fearless charging toward the horizon. Act with authority, even if you have to fake it at first. Keep an open mind (something you’re a natural at anyway) and something wonderful might happen. If you’re already in a relationship, you and your love might begin working towards a shared mutual dream. Manifest!

CAPRICORN

(born December 22 - January 19) You have a welcome opportunity to retreat from your usual responsibilities this month, giving you valuable time to reassess your overall direction in life. Normally, your legendary ambition drives you on an upward path toward your career aspirations, but you’re less concerned with professional advancement now than with spiritual 78 NOVEMBER, 2015

- Tarot reading by Nupur Heda Patil

fulfillment. Thankfully, removing the pressure to succeed could open new doorways to destinations that were not previously on your map. Dance with the unknown and explore to your heart’s content. Even if you’re dealing with the same confusing issues as last month, they might not appear to bother you as much this month. Once others see that you have problems just like them, they’ll be more inclined to interact with you on a personal level. Expressing the truth reveals your vulnerability and paves a path for authentic relationships.

AQUARIUS

(born January 20 - February 18) You know exactly where you are going and what you are doing this month, but you don’t want to make a big fuss about it. Even if someone tries to tap into your wisdom and experience, you might avoid engaging in a lengthy conversation because you prefer journeying alone now. Don’t worry about impressing anyone else with your competence; you have nothing to prove to the rest of the world. Just get on with your current business and let everyone else take care of theirs. Some days you are an open book, and some days you’re not. There might be a behind the scenes opportunity for you to prosper that is revealed mid month and reinforced by end of the month. Just don’t give in to the temptation to spend money unwisely. You’ll both regret it.

PISCES

(born February 19 - March 20) Regaining clarity about your long-term goals rejuvenates your spirit this month. However, your intense feelings about a relationship might not be so well received by someone else. Your message is very important now, but so is the tone of your words. Even if your perspective is a radical one, there’s no need to purposefully provoke people’s fears. Thankfully, striving for the highest potential keeps you on a spiritual path and inspires others to do the same. If you’re in a relationship then you can expect oodles of happiness! Love planet Venus will enter your partnership sector where she’ll remain until first week of the month. You and someone close might make a commitment to one another,

much to your delight. If you and your partner have not been able to agree on a financial decision, a breakthrough is now possible.

ARIES

(born Mar. 21 - April 19) Achieving your career objectives or finding your life’s purpose grows more crucial now as your ambitions intensify. You may even turn obsessive, fearful that you might miss your chance if you don’t drive yourself as relentlessly as possible this month. Unfortunately, it’s possible to ride roughshod over people if you are only focused on your own goals. Thankfully, practicing a touch of diplomacy enables you to be more effective than you ever thought possible. Your heart connections enrich your life in ways your work never can. Relationship is the name of the game this month thanks to a brilliant angel falling in your life of commitment. If dating, this lunation might help gel things between you and your lover. Exclusivity is likely.

TAURUS

(born April 20 - May 20) A relationship grows more complex if your friend or partner is as inflexible as you are this month. Fortunately, you can transform the tense dynamics by resolving to meet others halfway, instead of demanding that they adapt to your agenda. In fact, you might be so pleased with the results of your collaboration that you give more in return. Instead of trying to prove your superiority now, it’s more useful to seek common ground instead. Mutual admiration is the key to creating an unbreakable bond. You and your lover might spend the better part of the month intimately together. Another possibility is that you and your sweetheart might work furiously on a project or fitness goal together. Together, you’re a winning combination!

GEMINI

(born May 21 - June 20) It’s rather unnerving when your rational thoughts are overpowered by irrational emotions. It might even appear as if you’re losing control of your feelings this month. However, this can be quite the magical moment if you’re willing to admit to yourself that you weren’t running the show even when you believed you were. Widen your horizons by exploring the darker corners of your heart and tune into a deeper message that’s buried underneath the noisy distraction of language. Suspending your disbelief is the first step to embarking on a journey of the soul. Are you single? Well this month, all of that might change thanks to a glorious angel that falls in your true love sector in the begning of the month. If you’re already attached, a significant conversation with your mate in the month end about children or a joint creative project will help fortify your bond. You’re solid and you know it!

CANCER

(born June 21 - July 22) Existential concerns linger on your mind now, but they won’t prevent you from joining others in pursuit of a good time. You want to enjoy the camaraderie, but still have mixed feelings about engaging in

lighthearted social chatter this month. Unfortunately, you can take contemplation too far; obsessing too much on your emotions gets old quickly when you end up in the same dark place. Consciously setting your serious thoughts aside gives you the chance to create special memories with the ones you love the most. Talking about your intimate life with your partner this month will lead to a change that you both feel good about. In fact, there’s a good chance that you’ll be able to discuss something that previously made you feel vulnerable or insecure and finally abolish it from haunting your intimate life for good! Pay attention to mid month, when you’re likely to feel romantic and frisky all at once. Work it!

TULIP

FORTUNE

LEO

(born July 23 - August 22) You think you need to work diligently these days so you can earn more money, but financial success will lose its importance in the month ahead. Luckily, you aren’t in a hurry now because you secretly believe that your patience will ultimately be rewarded. But don’t reveal all your cards at once or you’ll give away your power too soon. Playing the waiting game is easier if everyone doesn’t know what move you’re going to make next. Finances between you and your mate could seem fuzzy mid month. Avoid making any drastic changes in joint investments or major purchases. Next month, clarity in this area returns for both of you.

VIRGO

(born August 23 - September 22) You might feel as if you’ve been operating within a protective bubble lately, but tensions still lurk in the shadows. You may be clever enough this month to avoid an open conflict with someone close to you, but there’s still a world of difference that separates you from each other. Thankfully, you’re motivated by a sense of mutual respect and the tolerance of different beliefs. Giving the gift of freedom to others enables love to flourish in a healthy environment. Hot and steamy! The two of you will be able to transcend physical boundaries together to reach a level of intimacy that can only be described as “mind blowing.” Then, month end, you might have your partner on a pedestal but it’ll make you happy to focus on the good for once without staring at the blemishes.

LIBRA

(born September 23 - October 22) Perhaps you recently demonstrated your flexibility by encouraging the people you love to pursue their own interests. But now, the tables are turned and you may need to defend your personal agenda. You’re not so eager to accept someone else’s vision if it contradicts your basic values or dashes your dreams. Overcome your fears and state your boundaries clearly. Although this confrontational strategy can feel frightening at first, everyone will understand your position once you stand up for your rights. A New Angel in your sign mid month suggests a major shift in relationship perspective and personal direction. You might also have a fresh start in a relationship. As far as your love life goes, it’ll feel as if you can finally let go of a long held inhibition. How freeing!
