Couples that make marriage look wonderful…
arriage is a beautiful word. But as wonderful as it sounds and as beautiful getting married is, the road to sharing a journey of lifetime together is not as easy as it seems. Couples these days are missing the most important word in their marriage, compromise which does not really mean sacrifice. It is just coming to a favorable situation that keeps both partners happy in a relationship. These days, compromise is something no one wants to do and adjustments are just not happening. Nobody wants to let go of their self and lead a life as a partner with someone. However, there have been marriages in the past that prove to the world, that a little adjustment, compromise without sacrificing any needs or wants of either can help make a marriage really turn into a beautiful journey. In such a marriage where both partners are ready to take in their differences, be a part of each other’s problems and happy times and yet let each other stay the individual they are, even though the road is bumpy and with a lot of speed breakers, life seems good in such marriages. Komal Sirwani approached a few Hyderabadi couples who have been married for a long time and still going strong to share their experiences.

Your views on the journey so far with each other? Our journey so far has been beautiful. For us marriage is about two people being in tune with each other. Engagement Rings Falling in love can take your breath away. And when the love of your life gets down on his knee, says all of the right things, and asks you to marry him, it can take your breath away all over again - especially when there is a flawless, diamond sparkling before you. Have you ever wondered why it is worn on the fourth finger of the left hand? The tradition came about because of the belief that “the vein of love” runs directly from this finger to the wearer’s heart. Engagement rings today are far more than a piece of beautiful jewellery on a woman’s left hand promising “I Do;” they are works of art with no boundaries, especially when it comes to the setting, mounting and faceting of the stone. For these reasons, designers are making it easy for a woman to fall in love with their pieces. Many trusted jewellers will be happy to tell you about the 4Cscarat, color, clarity and cut-but a select few elevate the experience of shopping for an engagement ring to an entirely different level. Take time and individually analyze the perfection of each diamond’s cut and proportions, as well as its natural transparency to ensure that every diamond will catch the light and sparkle gloriously with fire, life and brilliance. Prashant Gupta, Owner of Musaddilal JewelMusaddilal Jewellers & Expoters offers lers & Exporters Pvt. Ltd., you a wide variety of engagement rings. They have an amazing range from Rubies, Emeralds to diamonds. These rings are personification of elegance and style.

The tradition of exchanging gifts on the first day of your wedding life is an optional one, but it is also one that should definitely not be overlooked. While a groom can’t go wrong with purchasing his bride jewellery -think diamond jewellery, a pearl cocktail ring, or even precious stone earrings-women have a more limited scope of options, cufflinks, stud sets and tie bars are all classic choices, but a watch-particularly a collector’s watch, one that is a limited edition, or simply your fiancé’s favorite brand-can become a prized possession for years to come. These gifts should be looked at as investment pieces that can later become family heirlooms. Like a fine wine, a good watch becomes more valuable with age. When choosing a watch for your groom, consider his lifestyle, taste and personal preferences when it comes to things like the metal used for the case, the size of the face, the material used for the bracelet, the appearance of the dial, and if he would prefer automatic or quartz movement or for it to be manual winding. To customize it all the more consider engraving the back with a personal message or sentiment. Remember that watches are no longer being used solely for their utilitarian purpose and that over the centuries they have actually evolved into a fashion statement speaking volumes about its wearer and his status. Coincidentally this also lends them as the perfect gift, even for the man that already has everything.

By Varuna D Jani Varuna D Jani A woman should wear jewellery to enhance her look, it should be a part of her rather than catching all attention and looking different on the whole. A bride should wear the jewellery she feels happy in, jewellery that expresses who she is and what she feels, more as an extension of her personality. A person should buy jewellery keeping in mind his/ her personality, face shape, and not to forget life style. The jewellery for a bride largely depends on what kind of person she is, but most important is budget. Budgeting your jewellery is most crucial and initial step to be taken with utmost care. You need to jot down the amount and further decide for your main jewellery that will include your neck piece, earrings, ring and bangle’s think today’s brides are very sensible, savvy, well aware, sophisticated and contemporary. I would suggest brides to go for modular jewellery, it is best option and can be used in various ways. People should keep their budget in mind and accordingly shop for their trousseau first and then go for jewellery. Even if you are going for a traditional look, your jewellery can add a modern twist. A bride’s jewellery should have, a pair of daily wear diamond or gold earrings, chandelier earrings, bangles, a bracelet, cocktail ring, and a daily wear ring apart from basic neckpieces. “Not everything that is showstopper is beautiful”.
Moni Agarwal A wedding isn’t a single day; its significance is far greater. A wedding connotes the lifelong commitment & togetherness of two individuals, voluntarily, forming a union of eternal matrimony. For the Bride, one of the most important aspects of this crucial life-event is her wedding jewellery. The jewellery she chooses has to match her bridal ensemble, its a statement she makes through her ornaments, of her love, commitment style, fashion, and point of view. The jewellery for the bride, is of paramount importance, and must necessarily be selected, crafted, and worn, in accordance with what is most fitting for the various functions within the wedding.
My own views of a bride’s jewellery are strong, but simple. I feel that a wedding merits an emphatic, grandiose gesture and what better to reflect this through the jewellery Hence, a diamond choker, an elaborate kundan set, a grand & embellished neck piece - is mandatory. An excellent option is Temple Jewellery. Its grandeur, value stuns and makes a style statement. It is auspicious and therefore extremely appropriate for the occasion as well. Nakshi & Pachi designs and pieces combine elegance, class, sophistication as well as a bold statement of marital bliss, luck, and grandeur like few other jewellery styles. These I feel are a great route to take, for any bride. Lastly, many brides and families, even though they are able to put together extremely vivid and superb pieces for the main wedding-ornamentation, tend to be at a loss when it comes to the jewellery for the immediate aftermath of the wedding itself. Here I feel that the jewellery should be muted immediately. There is no problem in wearing jewellery and making a statement - but it should be a subtle, delicate, understated and aesthetic jewellery. I have had the rare privilege of working closely and in conjunction with MBS jewellery at Basheerbagh, and I am very proud to share that my collection of jewellery at the store will provide the perfect one-stop shop solution for wedding jewellery. Choose your wedding and bridal jewellery very carefully. Let it be bold & beautiful.

Looking the best on the Big day Looking sensational on your wedding day isn’t just a matter of finding a great dress and getting a gorgeous updo. It comes from mapping out a beauty regimen that not only makes you look the best you can, but makes you feel relaxed and confident as well. To begin, envision yourself on the big day. What do you see? Something dramatic? Glamorous? Graceful? It’s always helpful to be able to intelligently share style ideas with your beauty professionals. Before you start ripping your favorite pages out of beauty magazines, look at favorite pictures of yourself. Maybe your eyes or your full lips make you stunning -- or perhaps you loved the rosy glow in your cheeks that day. After you know what it is that you love about yourself, you can then look to others for beauty inspiration. Look at the big picture of the wedding, Where you’re marrying and what time of day will affect the beauty specifics: A wedding on a beach might call for a bronze and dewy look. An evening affair always requires more drama against dim lighting. Consider your wedding style. Is it vintage? City sophisticate? Whether you’re going for a natural look or for something more lavish, chances are you’ll definitely want to put your best face forward on your wedding day.

You could be fair or whitish, enhancing your features and persona will bring out the best, so start with vegetable juice detox to cleanse your inner self so you are radiant from within and then of course you glow externally, go for makeup which is radiant but natural, also keep your hair stylish so even if the makeup is minimal you still look fantastic. Remember less is more. It’s very important to keep your skin hydrated and nourished. Quick Tip-Use cold unboiled milk with saffron and turmeric to brighten your skin. • Using an exfoliating face wash helps skin to remove dead cells and rejuvenate. • Drinking water hydrates the skin. Drink at least one - two liters water every day. • Spend time at spa to de-stress and relax so that you are all geared up for the wedding day. • Remember that relaxing will help your skin glow. • Remember to remove the makeup in case you have put any the night before your wedding. • Remember to take in fresh air. Your skin needs to breathe as well. • Apply a lip balm regularly so that the lips are maintained smooth and well moisturized. • Rub ice on your skin before applying makeup so that your makeup stays for long hours. • Usually, bridal makeup is in bright shades due to the draining effect of artificial lighting. But care should also be taken that the makeup is not too jazzy or glittery. Sumant : 9581232418 Tamanna is professional & a premium Make-Up and Hair Artistry brand. They excel in bringing out your inner beauty to surface, hence personifying your charm, character and personality. They firmly believe that creativity and versatility are the essential components in every service that they provide. Experiment with different makeup look / hairstyles, but then choose the one you are most comfortable with. Slightly dirty / greasy hair will give your hair some grip and it will stay in place all night. Do your consultation rounds with your makeup artist keeping in mind how it would look in wedding pictures. Do not to go overboard with blush as your cheeks would be flushed all night and then you would look too red in person and pictures. Go for a Waterproof Volume Mascara because it makes lashes look super-lush, stay all night long and comes off easily with eye makeup remover. Get your brows done a few days before the wedding so they don’t look red or bumpy on the big day. Cut out salt from your diet to avoid puffiness around your eyes and face and see a big difference in the contours of your face. Do try sexy and sophisticated curly hairstyle. Side-swept bangs will make you the most fashionable bride of the season. JUNE, 2013 Tamanna : 9866121121

This is a term that you will become very familiar with during your wedding planning. Luckily it’s one of the best parts! Many brides aren’t familiar with the whole concept so we’ve put together a brief introduction for you. In old days, it was the bride’s family’s responsibility to prepare her trousseau that she would take with her to her husband’s home. Many brides would not take any of their old clothes to their new home. It was customary to prepare 11, 21, or sometimes 101 new articles of clothing for the bride. Today some brides keep old traditions alive and others are not as worried about the number game. The trousseau is not limited only to clothing. It also includes accessories ranging from bangles to purses and shoes. Household items such as bed sheets and kitchen utensils may also be included. And of course no bride can forget the new pieces of jewellery.
What is an all in all wedding trend for this season? Indian bridal wear is always heavy but summer wedding wear does see a tilt towards lighter fabrics and colors which are cheerful and summery – suited to the weather. One thing the bride and groom must keep in mind when it comes to deciding their wedding dress? The couple should order according to the weather and keep in mind the color and style that suit their skin and body type. Do’s and Don’ts for every bride. Be cheerful, be happy, wear happy colors and enjoy yourself. Don’t stress, don’t wear an outfit just for visual appeal but for comfort as well, keep in mind your skin tone and body type. Taller people can opt for outfits with more than one color, for brides who are shorter, single color works better. Hot Color trends for upcoming wedding season? Fuschia, red, pink, peach, orange. Pastels for morning weddings, burnt orange and burgundies for evenings Your advice on what bride should wear after weddings to keep up the newness and still stay stylish? Indian brides change into western outfits the second the wedding is over but if you want to keep the newness of the whole experience to last a bit longer then I would suggest light draped saris and anarkalis with stylish silhouettes and few embellishments are apt. Hottest Color Trends for Wedding décor
Summer is such a wonderful season with gorgeous flowers in bloom and beautiful sunshine. But choosing a color theme for your wedding to complement this amazing season is little difficult.
Blue and white Summers in India can be really hot. So why not add an interesting touch to your wedding by going for cool colors like blue and white? Blue is a very serene color that will add a touch of calm and tranquility to your decor. Together blue and white signify loyalty, royalty and purity. If blue and white are looking a little dull, you can jazz up your decor with silver accents. When it comes to floral decor, don’t hesitate to add lots of green foliage to accentuate the overall look. Gold and yellow Think of summer and the color that will immediately strike you will be yellow. Tons of yellow and gold look beautiful together and are perfect for a summer wedding. They symbolize happiness, energy, friendship and of course wealth. It would be a nice idea to play around with a third color to accentuate your yellow and gold decor. Gold and pink look really pretty together, as does yellow and magenta. Classic Red In an Indian wedding, you can never really go wrong with red. However, too much of red can hurt the eye. Offset your decor with smaller accents like candles, curtains and flowers to create a harmonized look. Red signifies everlasting love. The color is also associated with celebration, beauty and passion. Red can be paired with gold, white and orange too. You can mix and match various shades of red to get a monochromatic look as well. Purple and lavender The color of royalty and spirituality, purple can make your wedding look really elegant. Royalty and luxury are few things which are symbolized by purple, while lavender stands for femininity and grace. Purple and silver is a timeless combination. You can also pair it up with green or experiment with lavender and gold.

Wedding pictures are a cherished keepsake, passed down through generations, and the only commemoration of the thousands of hours and dollars spent to plan one of the most important days of your life. Other than the choice of a spouse, the choice of the wedding photographer is the most important wedding-related decision you will make, and is not to be taken lightly. Following these steps can help you select the best photographer to record your Big Day. Contact : Studio Q, Ph : 8886121314 Decide what style photography you prefer?
Are you looking for a traditional approach with mostly posed images? Or do you prefer lots of candid shots in which the subject may not even know he or she is being photographed. Would you prefer a photographer who combines all of these styles (a freestyle or eclectic wedding photographer)? Decide what level of service you want from your wedding photographer?
Contact : Neelabh Tiwari: 9052101786
Perhaps you only need photographs of your ceremony so having just 1-3 hours of photography may be enough for you. Other couples may prefer a complete package that may include a pre-wedding engagement sessions, rehearsal dinner photographs, bridal portraits and newlywed photos. Don’t forget to decide on number of photographs. Determine what form of your pictures you will want from your photographer? Just purchasing the prints is sometimes economical if you do not want an album. If you expect to need a large number of prints, it may be better (and faster) to purchase the negatives from your photographer and have the copies made privately, at your leisure. If you plan to use the images in numerous creative ways, or want to post them to a website or include them in a screen saver, you will probably want to receive the digital photo files directly from your photographer via the Internet or on a CD-ROM.

Traditions that make a marriage!
Indian marriages are extremely special and considered the best throughout the world. Indian weddings bring in loads of fun and happenings along with them. Decked and illuminated houses, family and friends sing and dance and spread joy and laughter across. The whole environment of weddings is so beautiful that if someone who has the opportunity to witness an Indian wedding for the first time, would lose their heart seeing the grandeur of Indian Weddings. Komal Sirwani brings to you an exclusive insight into traditions from diverse cultures in India that are a part of Indian marriages. Every culture has its own set of traditions and ceremonies that make up a marriage. For example, a basic Hindu wedding starts with an engagement ceremony, followed by mehendi, sangeet, pheras and finally the reception. While a Punjabi wedding starts with the roka ceremony followed by maiya, wedding at Gurudwara and finally the reception. However, a muslim wedding would start with an engagement ceremony and nikaah along with other pre marital ceremonies. The beauty of India lies in its diverse cultures. A lot of secular citizens now choose theme based weddings where every function of the wedding is from a different culture, like a Punjabi style engagement, a Bengali haldi and mehandi ceremony and a nikaah or a church wedding in muslim or Christian styles. This shows how Indians, irrespective of their religion respect and appreciate other cultures. Tulip brings you the glimpses of some of the pre marital ceremonies of some cultures that makes a marriage meaningful. Islam Traditions
Istikhara, Imam-Zamin and Magni The first phase of the pre-wedding Muslim rituals is known as Istikhara, wherein the religious head takes the approval of the Almighty to perform the wedding. After the consent, the groom’s mother pays a visit to the bride’s house along with sweets and Imam-Zamin, a silver or gold coin wrapped in silken cloth. The custom of tying the coin onto the upper portion of the bride’s hand is called the Imam-Zamin ceremony. This is followed by Magni, which is a custom wherein the groom’s family pays a visit to the bride’s house and both the families exchange fruits and sweets.
Maiya A custom common to Sikh and Punjabi wedding ceremonies is maiya. In this function, all the ladies of the family and friends of the bride are invited, and each member makes the bride wear red and green bangles. This signifies the beginning of the traditions of marriage and the girl is not supposed to leave the house or remove the bangles until the day of her wedding. Chooda Ceremony : Bride’s maternal uncle or mama takes her for the chooda ceremony. She is made to wear a set of red and white ivory (since ivory is banned, bone or plastic are alternative) bangles that have been dipped in kachchi lassi or buttermilk. Kaleeren or golden metal danglers are tied to the bride’s wrist by her close female relatives. The bride now dresses up for the main ceremony 48 JUNE, 2013
South Indian Tradition
The wedding rituals begin with Panda Kaal Muhurtham, wherein the families of the bride and the groom pray to the Lord for an uninterrupted wedding. After this, the groom is welcomed with the traditional aarti by the bride’s side on the day before marriage. He is offered sweets, sprinkled with rose water and even a coconut is broken to ward off any evil. Next is Vratham, which is a small puja organized before marriage. Following this is Pallikai Thellichal ceremony, as per which grains are sprouted in earthen pots, which are later immersed in a pond to feed the fishes.
The next ritual is Naandi, in which Brahmins are given gifts and sweets to seek their blessings for the wedding alliance. Nichithardham is the formal engagement ceremony, wherein the bride and the groom exchange rings. After this, the Reading of Lagnapatrika takes place, which is the ceremony of formal announcing the alliance and reading out the wedding details (time, venue etc) to everybody.
Janev In the Janev ritual, the bridegroom dresses up in saffron clothes. Before wearing the thread, he is asked to perform the havan. Wearing saffron colored clothes symbolizes that the groom is given two choice: either become an ascetic or take up the responsibility of a householder. After the completion of havan, the groom tries to escape from the institution of marriage, while his maternal uncle tries to persuade him to assume his responsibility. Palla Dastoor On the wedding day, or one day before it, some of the groom’s relatives bring the palla dastoor to the bride’s home. The palla dastoor encompasses clothes, jewelry and presents from the bridegroom. The bride wears this at the time of her wedding. Traditional poshak is usually red in color. However, it can also be in the colors of orange, gold yellow or pink. In the jewelry section, there is rakhri (jewelry for the forehead), ear danglers, timaniyaan (choker necklace studded with diamonds), chooda (a set of ivory and gold bangles), gold armband, gold anklets and gold toe-rings and stone-studded nose-ring. A wedding blossoms from some of the most cherished dreams and desires and when it comes to a Punjabi Wedding they don’t like doing things the way normal people do as they believe in “Live Life. King Size”. The things that pull me to a Punjabi wedding are their rituals which includes Rokka ceremony, Sagaai, Maiyya,, Sangeet,Mehndi, and the wedding, all these rituals are celebrated with equal zest, vivaciousness and grandeur. The color, the moments, the people and not to forget the Bhangra Dance everything is full of life and celebrated with great pomp.I love the fact that Indian weddings have so many pre-marriage ceremonies that make it even more exciting to attend a wedding. Pratibha Kapoor, Student
Marwari weddings are grand and so are the pre wedding functions, haldi, mehendi, myra ,sangeet..each one has its unique importance which leads to the d-day. The best about it is that it’s not just a one day affair but goes on for more than a week. What I love about these weddings is the girls get to dress up and flaunt themselves in their best attires. The entire family comes together, has lots of fun and we can also binge on a wide spread of eateries! Sanchi Gupta, Student JUNE, 2013 49

Who Kares? “We never discuss work at home, but we both know it’s an important aspect of our lives and we respect that. There’s responsibility and love in our hearts, but we don’t have to wear it on our sleeve. That’s the beauty of the relationship,”. For Kareena Kapoor, balancing home with her professional life is easy as nothing much has changed post her marriage to actor Saif Ali Khan except her marital status. "It's no big deal really. We both have managed it for the past five years, and hopefully we'll manage it for the next 25 also," smiles Kareena. As for work keeping her away from home for long periods of time, the actress says, "We never discuss work at home, but we both know it's an important aspect of our lives and we respect that. There's responsibility and love in our hearts, but we don't have to wear it on our sleeve. That's the beauty of the relationship," adds Kareena. Ask her if the marriage will shadow her choice of films and she says, "Why should it? "I can never be one kind of an actress. So, I don't mind signing women-oriented films, or playing 'second fiddle to the heroes' or even working with new actors as long as my role interests me. I am a Kapoor, so the naach gaana will never go out of my life, no matter how many substantial roles I do. I love my masala fare too much." The actress recently released her first book Style Diary of a Bollywood Diva where she has shared her personal style mantras. Kareena Kapoor doesn't care when it comes to counting followers on social networking sites. However, point out that both she and Saif have never been on any social networking site and Kareena says, "Being on Twitter is like a fulltime job. It amazes me how people do it. Both Saif and I are very private people, so it's not really our kind of thing to tweet what we do and when... 'going to take a shower', 'off for shoot'." What about using it for marketing? "Saif and I never had to market ourselves. So, we don't think we need to start now. We let our films do the talking," she states. Having returned from her annual vacation, the actress has plunged head on into her work. Starting off with a two-month long schedule of Satyagraha in Bhopal, Kareena will then start shooting for Karan Johar's Gori Tere Pyaar Mein with Imran Khan, post which she will start work with Emraan Hashmi for Ekta Kapoor's film. "It's fun to work with new people," she says. Aakanksha Naval-Shetye - DNA

The bride and groom looked nothing less than a prince and princess and all the guests were giving royal treatment .We cherished all the Rajasthani Delicacies which originated from Jodhpur. Each and every function had a different theme but they all surrounded the royal theme. It was a onetime royal experience and took us back to the Era of Kingdoms. Johansson said in a statement that several years ago, she began working with the Capote estate and writer Tristine Skyler to adopt the book, which had long inspired and captured her heart. She added that being able to bring this story to the screen, as her full-length directorial debut is a dream and deep privilege.
Rihanna suing UK retail giant for $5m over image used without consent Rihanna is set to file a 5-milliondollar lawsuit against UK retail giant Topshop over alleged unauthorized use of her picture on their products. The 25-year-old singer was reportedly angry after finding out that the High Street Fashion chain had been selling women’s T-shirts printed with an image of her from her ‘We Found Love’ video and is apparently taking legal action after eight-months of negotiations with the firm - owned by billionaire Sir Philip Green. A source told the New York Post that the Barbadian artists’ asked Topshop many times to stop selling her image and were told, “We do what we want.” The source said that they offered her 5,000 dollars and said that they didn’t care. Rihanna has reportedly hired international lawyers Reed Smith to sue Topshop in London, the Sun reported. The t-shirts are only being sold in the UK - where the photographer owns the rights of the images. The source said that even though British laws don’t protect the artist’s interests, she has decided to move forward and sue Topshop and has spent almost 1 million dollars in litigation at this point.

It’s normal to work with Deepika: Ranbir

But he says it comes naturally to him, and it is absolutely normal. Having worked together in the forthcoming “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani”, Ranbir “I think our friendship began long back. So there is no beginning. There is a continuation. For ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, people are saying, ‘How can he (I) work with someone like Deepika, with whom he (I’ve earlier) had a relationship?’ “These are things which come very naturally to me,” the actor told reporters at a promotional press conference. Sanjay Gupta, John join forces for epic revenge saga
After the stupendous success of Shootout at Wadala, director Sanjay Gupta joins forces with actor John Abraham yet again for an epic revenge saga which looks to redefine the action space in Bollywood. Based on the lines of Hollywood blockbusters like Kill Bill and Django Unchained, the untitled one-man-army film will be amongst Bollywood’s most ambitious project to be helmed by director Sanjay Gupta. If sources are to be believed, the makers promise to give it a similar status that Sunny Deol’s Ghayal had those days. The film will also see John pushing the envelope in the action space, with high adrenaline stunts without body doubles in signature Sanjay Gupta style. A source reveals ‘Sanjay Gupta joins hands with John Abraham for an epic revenge saga which is on the lines of a Bollywood Rambo. When dabbling with the script, the director could think of no one better than John to essay the role of the protagonist since he has the physique to carry off the character and is synonymous with “action”. The film will be made on par international standards with a contemporary linear treatment.

Mahesh is beyond Salman Khan
Recently there was a lot of tizzy among the Tollywood and Bollywood folks as though their progress report has come. The reason for this was the survey conducted by Times of India to list out the most desirable celebrities. And interestingly, among men, Mahesh Babu was found to be way ahead of Salman Khan. According to sources, the survey has been done in the most effective way covering many states. Among men, Arjun Rampal has got the hottest demand followed by Mahesh Babu. The interesting factor is that even in states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar, Mahesh has got fans. The Bollywood star Salman is down the line. Since he is aged, the young ladies seem to be off Salman, but the women in their 30’s and 40’s are still hardcore Salman Khan fans.

David Beckham Retires From Football David Beckham, who starred for Manchester United, Real Madrid and England’s national team before heading to the United States and Paris, is retiring. The news was confirmed Thursday by England’s Football association. The midfielder played his first game for Manchester United in 1992 and eventually rose to become captain of England’s international team for more than 50 games, including several World Cup tournaments. He appeared in 115 matches for the squad. As he rose to international fame, Beckham also became a style icon and gained fame for his deadly ability to beat goaltenders on free kicks, a talent that even inspired a movie, Bend It Like Beckham “Despite the offer of an extended one-year deal at Paris Saint-German, the 38-year-old has played his last game, bowing out on a high after helping Carlo Ancelotti’s side win the French title for the first time in 19 years,” reports source. Before this season, Beckham spent six years with the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer, where he helped boost interest in the league. Rafael Nadal Defeats Roger Federer Sir Alex Ferguson retires as In what was a comManchester united manager pletely dominating victory for Rafael Nadal, the after 27 years Spaniard further proved his claim as the “King of Clay Courts” with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Roger Federer to win the 2013 Rome Masters championship. Heading into this match up, it seemed the tables tilted pretty heavily in Nadal’s favor. That only proved to be true, as the Spaniard showed utter dominance from the opening game to the final point. Federer showed enough resolve to fight back to deuce time after time, but Nadal would quickly rattle off two winners in that span. His best strength Sunday was the ability to shoot down the outside line and hit winners just inches from landing out of bounds. Nadal surely looked better than his current ranking No. 5 in the world throughout the Rome Masters, as he proved able to regain his consistency. In doing so, he has showed his critics that injuries are not currently a problem. The biggest thing going for Nadal right now is that he’s headed to a clay-court major. Oh, and it doesn’t hurt that he has won it seven out of the last eight years. The biggest obstacle in his way is likely Federer, who won the only French Open not won by Nadal since 2004. That year was 2009, which seems like ages ago for the Swiss star, who has only won three majors. Wimbledon twice, the Australian Open once, since that championship. That’s why the win is so crucial for Nadal. Even if he has to face the daunting Federer in the French Open final shortly, he can look back to this performance as an indicator of how dominant he is over Federer on clay courts.
After 27 years of giving the hairdryer treatment to English officials, you’d expect the Premier League’s referees to be glad to see the back of Sir Alex Ferguson. However, after Ferguson’s final game in charge at Manchester United, referee Michael Oliver, fourth official Chris Foy and linesmen Ceri Richards and Dave Bryan posed for photographs and even asked for the Scot’s autograph. Ferguson celebrated his 1,500th game in charge of the Red Devils on Sunday, and watched his side play out a thrilling 5-5 draw against West Brom, the first in Premier League history. But the retiring 71-year-old has had few kind words to say about match officials during his time in charge at Old Trafford. Sunday afternoon was a day for celebration and the usually combative Scot was in a jovial mood. Ferguson’s side threw away a three-goal lead to allow Steve Clarke’s team back into the game, with Chelsea Ioanee Romelu Lukaku netting a hat-trick on the final day of the season. JUNE, 2013 77
MOVIES Movie Reviews
The Great Gatsby F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby is a novel that automatically lent itself to style, revealing as the story does in the dazzle of 1920s America with its unabashed hedonism and moral decay. Director Luhrmann on cue has crafted his most resplendent film yet. Savored in 3D, the Roaring Twenties bring alive what heights cinema as a visual spectacle can scale. But there is another aspect to Fitzgerald’s novel. Lurking beneath all that jazz are the quieter, gloomier notes of angst, which really gave the novel its focus. Luhrmann’s thrust, going by this film, was never fully to explore the dark side. He may have catered a feast for the senses but he struggles with the emotional conflicts and the tragedy they bring in the wake. Fitzgerald drew from his own life to create the budding author Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire), who lands as neighbor to the extravagant young millionaire Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio) on arrival in New York. He soon becomes a part of Gatsby’s world, and the lavish parties the man often throws. But as time passes, Nick starts spotting chinks in the happy picture. Emotions such as true love, loyalty and commitment seem to have little value in this world of excesses. A Jay-Z soundtrack would seem unlikely for a world imagined by Fitzgerald, but the rapper has moved away from typical sounds and it works well. A big draw at the global box-office has to be Leonardo DiCaprio. The star of the show straddles flawlessly Gatsby’s range from the powerful to the pathetic. Tobey Maguire by contrast is a suitably restrained spectator to all the drama. Carey Mulligan (playing Nick’s cousin and Gatsby’s lover Daisy) brings out the contradictions of her role well. Finally Amitabh Bachchan is seen in a one-scene cameo as Meyer Wolfsheim. He tells the world what we always knew: Big B is an actor who needs just that one scene. Aurangzeb Arjun Kapoor’s second outing in Bollywood - Aurangzeb - will see him in a double role. Aurangzeb is directed by debutant Atul Sabharwal. It has an ensemble cast including Rishi Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Deepti Naval, Amrita Singh and South actor Prithviraj. Jackie Shroff and Amrita Singh have been paired together after almost two decades. Pakistani singer and veteran actress Salma Agha’s daughter Sasha Agha also makes her Bollywood debut with the movie. This film, produced by the Yash Raj Films is rumored to be a fresh take on the 1978 blockbuster film Trishul. The plot is simple. Cops have forever been trying to nail Gurgaon real estate kingpin Yashvardhan (Jackie Shroff) without success. They just fail to get enough evidence against the man every time. Yashvardhan’s top gun is the dapper Ajay (Arjun), a gangster whose lust for power knows no bounds. Then, top cop Ravikant (Rishi Kapoor) unearths a secret about Yashvardhan and hits upon a plan. Ajay is captured and the cops plant his lookalike Vishal (Arjun in a double role) in his place, as an informer in Yashvardhan’s world.
Tadakha Tadakha is a remake of the hit Tamil movie ‘Vettai’ directed by Kishore Pardasany. It has Naga Chaitanya, Sunil, Tamannah and Andrea in the lead roles. Tadakha is a story of two brothers, Siva (Sunil) and Karthik (Chaitu) and their relationship. Tadakha is filled with all the action elements required to keep us entertained throughout the movie. Naga Chaitanya has done a good job in his action role. His performance was better than his previous performances. Sunil’s performance was impressive. The final moments of the film showed good performer in him. Tamannah and Andrea did their job and looked beautiful. Action scenes and the Screenplay were commendable.

Know Your Fortune
- Tarot reading by Nupur Heda
(May 21 - June 20)
If you have people working for you or if you run a small business, this is a favorable period to be confident and firm in your leadership. You’ll be able to achieve objectives that you’ve set a long time ago if you can gain the confidence of your employees with your high spirits. If you work for an employer, this will be a good period for your relationship. However, this does not include general situations or circumstances derived from internal policies that go beyond your responsibility or that of your boss. Probably this will be a very favorable period for you to discover good and bad things among your friends and things about them that may, voluntarily or not, harm you. Fulfill all your commitments even though you’ll have to face contradictory, situations.Even though you don’t mean to, your inner worries may be apparent in your general state of mind. There are some psychological mechanisms that we cannot always control, they require an extraordinary strength of character. You are physically and morally in conditions to overcome any circumstance that is the source of your strength.

This is a contradictory but positive period. You’ll be able to interpret all the impulses generated by your hopes, dreams and desires. These messages will be very important because they’ll help you carry out your activities, however, you should carefully study each message. This will not be a simple, easy period. Bear in mind that you need to engage in social activities, but this may generate enemies. Try to consolidate your position in your job and don’t embark on new projects, this is not a period to move forward. You better plan things out.If you are involved in matters of sharing out money coming from the division of familial state, you’ll probably get what you lawfully deserve. Unintentionally, you’ll have a tendency towards generosity. Try not to get involved in matters related to the disease of some relative. It is not very likely that you can come up with a solution. In these cases, try to find support in those relatives that have sound judgment and enough determination.
You’re heading into a period of wait. Probably your assets won’t multiply swiftly but you won’t lose any of your possessions if you carry out your daily activities with prudence and moderation. Games of chance can give you nice surprises, probably you’ll get some rewards. It is time now for you to start paying attention to the general state of your health. You should have a thorough check-up. Making sure that you are healthy should always be on your mind. This is not a good period to engage in arguments with your partner. Your words may work against you, always try to keep a balance. To avoid conflict try to talk about banalities or unimportant matters. If you are truly worried about some situation that seems to be oppressive or even distressing, don’t hesitate about going deeply into its causes. Ignorance won’t help you overcome any obstacle. Enlightenment arises when you see through things. This will help you find the clues that will allow you to direct each of your problems to its solutions. Undoubtedly, you will enter a period in which you’ll increase physical activity with your partner. During this cycle you may unintentionally meet people with a strong character and even a bit possessive that may have a positive and constructive influence on your personality. This is a favorable period to stop being lonely and look for a companion that may be the complement that you need and with whom you can give free course to your passion. If you are HAVING an affair, be careful, there may be some problems that can cause a break-up.

(June 21 - July 22)
(July 23 - August 22)
102 JUNE, 2013
(August 23 - September 22)
(September 23 - October 22)
(October 23 - November 21) It is very likely that new projects related to your job will appear, they may bring about economic improvement, or although they may not be economically important, they may be more gratifying for your spirit. This is a period of new ideas and innovative strength. If you are determined, you’ll have enough energy to remove from your spirit most of your inner worries. This is a period of low creativity, solutions may come up but not in an easy or obvious way. You’ll be favored but it is very probable that you’ll have to make a big effort, the course of events will help you find solutions. Your spirit will be strengthened. This is not a favorable period to meet friends that you haven’t seen in a long time or those who are not very intimate. During this period you’ll transmit a kind of negative energy that may end up breaking up the group. It will be easy for you to fulfill commitments that you have made a long time ago, everybody expects that you do so.
SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21)
Although dreaming is something good and having hopes and wishes may bring you a better future, you should also value what you have built so far leaving for the future the creation of new situations that will help you make your fantasies come true. Try to moderate your participation in social meetings, this is a period in which you’ll be influenced by a tendency towards break-up. This is not a good period to embark on your own work project or to change your job. It is better that you wait to start new projects. You may have trouble solving any present or future problems no matter how simple they seem to be. You’ll have to be patient to be able to deal with ambiguity and you’ll have to rely on your sound judgment. Answers will be provided by your inner wisdom. You have to be cautious when dealing with conflicts.
CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)
Your economic situation will tend to improve, even more than what you expect. Opportunities for association will come up and it is possible that among the good people that you know can make arrangements for joint prosperity. Try to identify those who can take this kind of decisions with you. If you’ve felt the heavy load of effort, think how useful it will be to share that load with others. If you are healthy you’ll have a special energy and vitality and you’ll be able to practice and fully enjoy physical activities. On the other hand, if you have some kind of health problem or if your health is deteriorated, this is a favorable time for quick recovery. Be careful with excess of physical, emotional or intellectual activity, this may cause tension or stress. Bear in mind that a favorable period must correlate with a clinically proven healthy state of the mind and the body.
(January 20 - February 18) You and your partner won’t enjoy a period of harmonious communication. This period is not very favorable to make up with him if that’s the case. Use all your communicative energy in your job, this is a good period to make ingenious proposals that can contribute to the success of the company or to the accomplishment of goals.Don’t try to restrain your instincts, this is a special period to taste the forbidden fruit. Things won’t happen in a logical order and you’ll have to try to
make sense of the facts. Be prudent with your ambitions, if you are determined, you’ll achieve important goals, but be careful because this doesn’t mean they will last in time. This is not a favorable period to enjoy living together, try to create plenty of space for each one to have freedom. It is highly probable that you’ll get involved in problems with your relatives. Try not to intervene, this is an ideal period to get into trouble. Enjoy with your friends as much as you can. You’ll make progress in these relationships.
(February 19 - March 20) You’ll enter into a period of low stability. This will be bad if you’re trying to negotiate better working conditions or to discuss changes that favor you. If you have tense relationships with partners, superiors or work mates, this is not a favorable time to find lasting solutions, just try to use sound judgment and willpower.Probably this will be a very favorable period for you to discover good and bad things among your friends and things about them that may, voluntarily or not, do harm to you. Fulfill all your commitments even though you’ll have to face contradictory, situations. Pay attention to your hopes, wishes and dreams, this is a positive period to make some of them come true. Rationality and determination will be the way to succeed in materializing them. Try to meet new people, this will be very useful. Try to improve your work project, pay attention to circumstances in order to avoid mistakes.
(March 21 - April 19) If you have to make decisions regarding matters like division of assets or inheritance procedures try to have an altruistic attitude, this selfless position will be very important to reach fair solutions. If problems arise as a consequence of the disease of a relative or a close person, you should devote yourself to help with that. If you feel like it to explore your inner self with an adventurous and lively spirit don’t hesitate just do it. You have really high chances of finding answers and achieving a pleasant state of spiritual balance. Luck is on your side. Although you are now going through a period when circumstances may be a bit distressing, causing tension on your everyday life, this is also a period in which luck will be on your side. You have to analyze deeply the different situations and it will be easy for you to solve any problem with the aid of your experience. Take advantage of this special period, your confusion will be the sole cause of your failure.
TAURUS (April 20 - May 20)
You’ll go through a period of harmonic and sweet relations with your partner, you may even show a maternal, protective attitude. In this period you’ll have a tendency towards spirituality and important decisions. This is not a favorable cycle for extra marital relationships, during these days love with only one man is the best. If you don’t have a partner, this is a good period to start looking for one.You find yourself in a period that is both, very favorable and very contradictory. Although there are high chances of economic growth, one mistake can lead you to great misfortune. A balanced spirit and high rationality will keep you off danger, making it possible for you to profit from the advantages that this period has in store for you. This is an interesting period of vitality and energy. Be strong and work hard to solve all the health problems that you may have, you’ll be successful. This is a good period for physical rehabilitation. It is also a favorable period for surgery, though in this case the risks will depend on the complexity of the problem.
