Entering a month full of love and surprises, I take some time to look back at an amazing month gone by, filled with celebrations of the beginning of a new decade. On the cover, we present to you Anam Mirza and Mohammad Asaduddin, who make their debut as a couple after a recent grand fairytale wedding. Actress Kangana Renaut along with director Ashwini Iyer was recently spotted in the city promoting her upcoming film Panga. Panga is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language sports drama film that features Kangana Ranaut, Jassi Gill, Richa Chadda, Neena Gupta and Yagya Bhasin. The story depicts the jovial life of a kabaddi player. “I felt very happy and great to be playing a mother. I have many roles which elevate the image of women in society and something that is about their empowerment. But after Manikarnika, this is the first time I am playing a mother. I can say that this film is going to be a tribute to all the mothers out there who sacrifice their dreams for the sake of their family and kids especially” said Kangana when asked about her role in the upcoming film. Musharraf Faruqui The additional Commissioner of GHMC Hyderabad, Mr. Musharraf Faruqui is extremely hard working and an adventurous soul! He is someone, who believes in bringing a positive change into the society and is always motivated to do the same. He is a civil servant, who takes pride in making a worthwhile contribution to the city he adores so much. Describing himself as a Pakka Hyderabadi, he expresses his love for food and outdoor activities such as cycling and trekking. What is a typical day in your life? A typical day in my life involves me meeting over a 100 people and attending a lot of meetings! My day begins at 5:30 am and I step out of home immediately, workout for an hour and begin my work at 7 am. As GHMC works round the clock, I join any of my working teams on field, supervise ongoing projects, city sanitation, building constructions etc. I tour about 80-100 km every single day. It’s a part of my routine. Tell us something about yourself. That’s a typical interview question! Nevertheless, I consider myself to be hard-working, focused on my task, confident that I will be able to make a positive contribution to the society & to the people at large. Though the contribution may be small, it will definitely not be insignificant. I believe in participatory governance & inclusion. Field administration will be more successful with public participation. Having an opportunity to do something in my own city is great & I am committed for it. How do you plan to increase the green cover in the city? The city is very blessed with natural landscape of tropical trees and rock structures which has a beauty of its own. & seasonal plantations. Vertical gardens are a new dimension that we are adding to this aspect in town. The one at Khairatabad Junction & one planned near NMDC are new additions. How do you manage to maintain a balance between your work and personal life? Ha-ha! I’m single, so it’s not a major challenge yet. Nevertheless, work-life balance is a must for everybody & that is exactly what defines one’s success. I spend time with my family & friends on weekends & late evenings. I prefer not to disturb my colleagues nor do I like being disturbed on Sundays & Holidays unless urgency demands so. Tell us an interesting incident that happened at work recently. Many interesting & challenging events keep happening in this city, which is so dynamic. Being at this post, everyday is surprising and a variety of challenges come my way. Hence, dealing with a few becomes extremely complicated at times. It is difficult to recollect one specific incident, but from protecting public property to enforcing rule of law or handling developmental
Pedestrianisation needs a major push in days to come & is my first priority. Recent additions in transportation amenities, such as the metro have been a major success & this has to be complemented with excellent last mine connectivity which preferably should be on foot. Junction improvements, Modern parks, recreation centres, walkways, cultural hubs, fitness zones etc which should definitely be disable friendly & safe for women is what the city needs urgently. Did you ever imagine yourself in such a high post? What has been your biggest motivation or inspiration? As a student I never thought of preparing for the Civil Service Exam nor join the IAS. I had always thought of taking up a career in the corporate/IT world and make it big there. Having worked there for a year, the lack of job satisfaction drove me to take up the exam & hence I’m here. My father, a civil servant himself has been my motivation. Being posted in Hyderabad, is another factor that drives me every day. It is the city I belong to & know it in & out; hence I just cannot miss this chance to make a positive impact here.

What has the journey been like in this field? It’s amazing. Every day is different, it a new challenge. The diversity of my job ensures to keep me on my toes. From the conduct of elections to fighting disasters, from removing encroachments to making some iconic places in Hyderabad; this journey has been fruitful. I look forward to have a more impactful tenure in serving our nation.
What do you do in your free time when you’re not working? I’m a marathoner, travel enthusiast, cyclist and trekker. I enjoy being a Pakka Hyderabadi, I just love food. Hence when I’m not working, I’m
projects in the city, every aspect is extremely interesting. What has been the biggest challenge for you while governing the city? Lack of responsibility amongst the citizens is the biggest problem we face in the civic administration. It is difficult to govern a city of 1.2 crore with 20,000 personals. Hence, we look out for citizen partnership. People should take up ownership of public amenities because everything we do is out of the taxes the citizens pay. From spitting in public places to littering in the open, people damage their own property. Be it roads, parks or lights; one must treat these as their personal property. Once this happens, there will be tremendous improvement in the quality of service we provide. What is your future vision regarding the development of the city? This city deserves to get much more than what is has now. With an extremely rich heritage, being identified by UNESCO & with the boon of a demanding young population, the city needs to have an infrastructural upgrade.

How did you two first meet each other? Our families have known each other for around 35-40 years. So we have known each other since a long time but were never in touch. We reconnected a couple of years ago and that’s how it began.
What are your plans this Valentine’s Day?

The first one being the dance we performed together on our Sangeet day. The second would be the amazing moment after our Nikah when I walked up to Asad as his wife.
Asad: Anam is not very big on Valentine’s Day but I am. I haven’t finalised anything yet but in another 3-4 days I’m sure I’ll come up with something nice to surprise her.
What is the quirkiest factor you like about each other? Anam: Never in my life had I imagined that a guy can be so fond dressing up and shopping. I sometimes look at him and think to myself that I really did find my soul mate. Even when we go shopping, he gives me an opinion about what he feels when I’m buying something. That is something I really love about Asad. Asad: Anam’s fashion sense! You give her any outfit, any piece of clothing and she’ll make it fashionable and trendy.
What was your impression of Anam when you first met her?
Asad: My first impression of Anam when I met her was that she looked like a very confident and independent girl who has her own strong opinions.
If you could change one thing about each other what would it be?
Anam: One thing that I’d like to change about Asad is that he takes way too much time to get ready. Despite being a girl, I take much less time. Asad: I wouldn’t want to change anything about Anam but if I have to mention something it would be that fact that she sleeps a lot. She can sleep at any given point of time, at any place. I, on the other hand, can sleep just in the nights.
With both of you having a busy schedule, how do you find time to spend exclusively with each other? During the day both of us are very caught up with work and get done only at around 5-6 pm. We hit the gym together in the evening and this is the time we spend exclusively with each other on a daily basis. This is followed by dinner together and sometimes at night we also watch Netflix together.
What quality of Asad made you fall for him?
Anam: There are multiple things that made me fall in love with Asad but it was his patience and compassion towards people that stole my heart away.
How does living together feel? It’s just been a little more than a month since we’ve been living together and it’s super fun. It lets you know details about each other that you cannot know until you stay under the same roof. Living together makes us fall more in love with each other.
What is the one memory from your wedding that will stay with you forever?
Asad: During the wedding, one of our friends forced me to sing a song. Normally, I would have never done this as I am a shy person by nature. But I managed to do this for Anam and sang the song ‘Pal pal
What is the one thing that you will never compromise on in marriage? No matter what the situation, something we will never compromise on in our marriage is the transparency and trust between us.
What is the best thing you have heard from each other?
Anam: Asad always says the right things and not just his words but his actions comply with the same. So it’s very difficult for me to pick one best thing he has ever said to me. Asad: The best thing Anam has told me till date was when she said yes for the marriage.

My Dad was a very romantic person and I guess it has definitely rubbed onto me! My husband and I are total opposites in this case, I love to show and on the other hand he holds up to his emotions. But when he wishes to show, he goes all the way and comes up with ideas that one cannot even think of. I feel there is no doubt that each day is a day to love but when there is a defined day then one must use it to show and appreciate their loved ones because you definitely do not express love every single day. I remember my first Valentine’s after my wedding was in Egypt and we both started our day by having breakfast overlooking the mesmerising Pyramids. Since then to date, every year has been something interesting. Since past three years we have been doing a Couple Spa in the afternoon on Valentine’s and we absolutely love it! On this day, towards the evening, I love cooking something special for my husband. He goes to the gym in the evening, so I get enough time to cook delicious food and decorate the place with loads of candles & flowers. My two girls are also excited to help me create magic in the place and this makes it even more fun. I also bake a Rainbow Cake which is my family’s favourite and thus we enjoy every single moment of Valentine’s Day!

Hathiyan ka Jhad
Once known to have been the hideout of 40 thieves, Hyderabad is home to the oldest Baobab tree in the country. With a circumference of 25 meters, the tree looks more like elephants huddled together, prompting the locals to name in Hathiyan ka Jhad or the Elephants’ Tree. The trunk has a hollow carved out, hidden well by the massive trunks, leading to two massive room-like structures said to have housed the infamous 40 thieves. Although it is said to be in the Golkonda fort, an easier way to get to the tree is from the

Maqtha Art District
Probably the most underrated, but the most aesthetic part of the city, the Maqtha Art District in the neighbourhood of MS Maqtha is the work of the largest street art foundation in India, St+Art India, with artists from around the world. The visually splendid area is divided into four districts: Green Gully, Yellow Gully, Pink Gully, and Blue Chowk with a series of painted arrows to direct visitors to each of the areas of the district. To find the murals, cross the train tracks and follow the main road to the end. The beginning of the first section is at the end of this road to your left. Raymond’s Tomb
The splendid architecture of the tomb of Michel Joachim Marie Raymond, a French general in the army of 2nd Nizam - Nizam Ali Khan, Asaf Jah II, is made of black granite on which an attractive pavilion on a Palladian model with large attractive pillars is built. The entire complex stands on a massive rectangular masonry raised platform. There is also a tall obelisk, on the face of which is a studded black marble tablet inscribed with his name Joachim Raymond, in initials as “J.R” in calligraphic style. The 200-year-old tomb makes for an excellent quiet getaway location amidst the concrete jungle surrounding it. Experience- Svatma offer a fully equipped gym, spa and pool that looks like a temple tank to keep the guests indulged besides a roster of activities, including temple and palace walks, veena concerts, dance performances and personalised experiences. Clearly, at Svatma, tradition and modernity live together in perfect harmony. We loved indulging in a unique sound therapy spa and spending time by the pool reading old school comics. Evenings were blissful with carnatic concert in the special chamber by a small ensemble of musicians. Soothing harmony of melodies from the violin, mridangam and the tambura soothes your soul giving a unique musical experience. Svatma team also took us to the master crafts men who demonstrated the making of handmade jewellery as well as the Tanjavur style of painting. The painting is made by gilded and gem-set technique – where gold leaves & sparkling stones are used to highlight certain aspects of the painting like ornaments, dresses etc. Another experience we took was of Bronze Sculpting, Thanjavur is the cradle of this ancient art form and the skill has simply transcended generations of sculptors. We watched cire purdue live in action from casting to the sculpture taking its final form and it was just brilliant. Check it out- Tanjore is most famous for its UNESCO-listed Brihadeeswarar Temple, an 11th century Shiva temple built in tawny granite. The edifice was built by King Rajaraja I to celebrate a military victory. Any way you look, it’s a lesson in architectural excellence: from the musical pillars, Chola-style murals and lime plaster frescoes to stucco sculptures of Lord Shiva’s various incarnations and ancient Tamil inscriptions. The central tower has 16 tiers rising to a height of 216 ft, making it one of the tallest of its kind in the world. Several shrines dot the sprawling lawns of the complex, including one of India’s largest statues of Nandi (Shiva’s sacred bull) carved out of a single rock. Try - Tamil-Maratha fusion cuisine Thanjavur is synonymous for the famous pulisadam (tamarind paste mixed with rice) and other types of dry rice mixes like ellu sadam, sambar sadam and thengai sadam, all of which are also served at temples as prasadams. Some locals claim that the south Indian sambar was first cooked in the Maratha royal kitchens of Thanjavur. When Sambhaji, the Marathi king and son of Shivaji, wanted something tangy for dinner, the ingenious cook substituted the tarty kokum with tamarind in a dal, threw in some sautéed veggies and the sambar was born! The Maratha influence on the region’s cuisine can be seen in dishes such as shakar biranji—sweetened pulao with almonds and coconut to ambat bhendya—okra tossed with Indian spices. I was a good 80 kgs and I am now between 58-60 kgs and all this only by working out at home & eating clean. I have my cheat meals, but it’s about a lifestyle change. You got to push yourself harder when you have to workout & exercise all by yourself without a trainer. But if you are passionate, you’ll just do it. Tips I have are :• Make a meal plan for the week breakfast, lunch & dinner. Avoid carbs in dinner and focus more on protein & fibre rich food. Also avoid eating outside as much as you can. • Workout at least 5 days a week. Best is to finish your workout in the morning. Keep your workout clothes ready in the night itself. • Put some music on cuz music puts you in the form. Exercises to do : Start with warm ups. Beginners can start with 45 minutes of brisk walking everyday and then slowly get to running and then move to HIIT. I do HIIT now because it gets done in 20 minutes and it also burns more calories and it helps you burn even when the body is in resting mode. But you can do any form of exercise that you are comfortable in. Running is the best. Initially I started with just walking. At home you don’t need any equipment. All you need is a Yoga mat and 2 bottles of water filled. Exercises that help : Squats, Lunges, Burpees, Mountain climbers, Wall sitting, Plank, Leg raises Abs can be done at home too and the water bottles help in arms workout. Jumps and jogs at one spot with the music on is also a really good form of cardio and helps in building up stamina. 1000 In a set of 200x5 Click full photos of yourself in front of the mirror and compare it after a couple of months. Rishi Kapoor will be playing the role originally essayed by Robert De Niro. The actor shared this news on his Instagram account. The new poster of Bachchan Pandey, directed by Farhad Samji, has Akshay sporting one glass eye, a thick beard and a large scar across his face. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio is in final negotiations with ‘Megan McDonnell, a staff writer on its Disney series ‘WandaVision’ on the project. Sources have reported ‘Anna Boden’ and ‘Ryan Fleck’, who co-wrote and the directed the 2019 hit, will not be returning to helm the sequence. However, they are in talks to remain in the Marvel Universe and direct a possible Disney Plus series. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has confirmed that the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai instead will hold the title-clash. The Indian Premiere League (IPL) governing council decided against changing timings of the night games from 8 pm to 7.30 pm despite pressure from few stakeholders. In a noble gesture, the BCCI will have an All Stars Game between all top international players before the start of IPL for a charitable cause. The tournament as reported by IANS will be played from March 29 to May 24. The opening game will be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
World Cup-winning Indian Cricketer Madan Lal will be part of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BBCI) new Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) along with former women’s team cricketer Sulakshana Naik. Chhapaak Directed by Meghna Gulzar Chhapaak begins in 2012 when Delhi is crying we want justice for its gangrape victim. It is a story of an uncrushable spirit, which talks about the life of Malti, an acid attack victim and survivor. The movie’s depiction of her court proceeding and emotional healing are the major highlights. Madhurjeet Sarghi, who acts as Malti’s lawyer in film, does a splendid job as Archana Bajaj. Vikrant Massey does a spectacular job as Amol. Amol, the head of an NGO that deals with the acid attack victims, is too pained by the plight of the acid attack victims. Malti also calls him a killjoy for being so serious and sorrowful all the time. Malti goes from pain to accepting herself, and makes us hope with her. The film stresses on what half a Rs-30 bottle of acid can do. The relationship between Malti and her brother is left frustratingly unexplored, to the point that not even a word is exchanged between them.

The movie revolves around Dr. John Dolittle who lives in solitude after the death of his beloved wife. His only companionship comes from an array of exotic animals that he speaks to on a daily basis. But when young Queen Victoria becomes gravely ill, the eccentric doctor and his furry friends embark on an epic adventure to a mythical island to find the cure. He takes a journey to a mysterious island to find a healing tree, which is the only medicine that can help the dying Queen in the Buckingham Palace. This movie is cheesy and fun. It has talking animals, a love story, bad guys and good guys. it basically has all the elements of a typical comedy. It has cheesy over-the-top jokes and a lot of them are quite silly but enjoyable. Robert Downey Jr was charming, Michael Sheen was the perfect villain, and Antonio Banderas surprised everyone with his performance! Sarileru Neekevvaru Directed by Anil Ravipudi ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’, which translates to nobody can match you, is a story that revolves around an Army Major played by Mahesh Babu. A soldier in Kashmir acts as a typical hero figure that disables bombs without any safety suit on. He has got nothing to lose and puts his life on his edge. Vijayashanthi, who plays the role of Professor Bharati is a patriotic woman and a single mother who has lost her eldest child in the army and is yet ready to send her second son (Satya Dev) to serve too. She also has a biological daughter apart from an adopted one. She is someone who never hesitates taking tough decisions for the greater good. Then there’s Prakash Raj, who plays the role of Kurnool MLA Nagendra who’s the epitome of evilness. The problem with the movie was that it got very repetitive. Mahesh Babu does a great job playing a man who serves the country selflessly, cracks jokes and protects people with all his heart and might. This movie is worth watching for Mahesh Babu and Vijayashanthi.
