WHAT’S NEW

The Moonshine Project

The first thing that you notice anywhere you go is its visual appeal. Your mood is set depending on how appealing the place is. And The Moonshine Project as it looks, has made all the efforts to swoon its customers with its interiors. A rusty yet very elegant place, it seems everything has been given a lot of attention to, be it the chairs, tables or even walls. They have an indoor seating area as well as a roof top one and both have been worked on well. The colour scheme and the fixtures around give you all the feels you need to have a good time! Now coming to the food, The Moonshine Project is more on the American side, a café like menu with potato wedges, fish fingers, salads. But it’s interesting as they also provide a lot of Indian options like harabhara tikka, zafrani fish along with a variety of Indo-Chinese flavours like, chicken manchurian, chilli mushroom etc. Hence, they have got it all covered. Just a month old and its making everybody go gaga. Definitely not a place you would want to miss out! Address: 385, Road No. 82, Film Nagar, Jubilee Hills Phone: 093936 36363

Up The Bistro

‘Up the Bistro’ is a newly opened roof-top bistro with an open-air terrace seating. The timing of the place opening, could not be more appropriate than the spring season which is here - it’s the most beautiful season where days are longer and evenings breezy. This just makes the entire experience of spending time with your squad on a rooftop restaurant much more memorable and fun! Coming to the interiors, the place is simple yet very impressive. It follows a very neutral colour scheme, with whites, browns and blacks with classy yet modern fixtures. Now, the important part, the food- Up the Bistro’s menu follows a very true to its name bistro-like, not too fancy sounding dishes mainly Continental and Italian but with a twist. Their menu is mainly Continental but has Indian flavours in-between. Some of the specialities includewild mushroom calzones, basket fries, bruschetta trio, and a range of soups, salads, pastas, burgers and even Indian mains like, paneer pasanda, amritsari fish fry, methi murg and more. The place also offers a variety of mock tails, shakes and desserts that include tarts, kheers and ice-creams. That’s not all, the place also provides hookah/sheesha and there’s live music sometimes too. Qutub Alam Khan

Qutub Alam Khan is a proud family man, blessed with a beautiful wife and two amazing kids. He usually gets mistaken for an arrogant person but the fact is that he takes a long time to get comfortable with people. He is very emotionally inclined and a cricket lover, he plays and watches it all the time. Qutub loves his music and listens to it in all languages. He tries to stay fit as much as he can and goes to the gym at least three times a week; with a small but tight group of friends. Tell us a little about how you started off your professional life? I started off working for an MNC as soon as I got into MBA. My was to gain work experience before I got into the school for MBA. My father used to say all the time, before you give orders you must learn to take orders and execute, that’s exactly what the corporate world taught me. I belong to a business family and that automatically helped me, when I, first took over a family business in the capacity of a factory in-charge. I did that for 8 years and that helped me a lot. I interacted with the top bosses of international companies and that helped me immensely. I became confident and started to see business from the point of view of the top men. How has the journey been in this field? It has been an amazing ride so far, it gives me immense satisfaction when a guest tells me that he or she simply loved the food, it makes you feel that all the hard work has paying off. Tell us your story related to your career? Work is worth it. My friends and I have worked extremely hard on the food we now serve. The food industry is relentless; in here every day is a new day and literally every day you have to win. I love the challenge. It all started out as an available space for rent, I initially thought of starting a small South Indian restaurant and have it run by managers and cameras, this was at the time of Ramzaan and we decided to have Haleem. The love and response for Haleem was so overwhelming that I decided to start a fully fledged restaurant. I spoke to my good friends Fauzan and Amair and we all decided to come together. We did our home work and trials and recently started the Chicha’s restaurant at lakdi ka pul, it is a Dine-in, an outdoor sit-out and an in-car service, we 18 APRIL, 2016 - TULIP

Tell us about how you both met? Was it an arranged marriage? Saad: Yes! Ours was an arranged marriage. My parents were searching for a suitable match for me, this is a common practice among many Muslim families. I had returned from UK, completing my MBA. After this I, started working, I think it was in 2007, first, when I tried my hands in Advertising, then I joined KARVY Financial services’. It was in June 2009 upon insistence from my family that I joined our family business “ZINDA TILISMATH” as a Chief Accounts Officer. At this stage, I wanted to settle down too. My grandma shared a very strong bonhomie with the Mehkri family, and it was through this acquaintance that I and Sakeena were first introduced. I wasn’t sure that this kind of match making would work, but Sakeena’s parents being liberal, allowed us to get to know each other more before we finally gave a green signal. We used to chat a lot, exchanged our thought’s values, morals, religious orientation, likes and dislikes. But the one thing in common for us was our priority and commitment towards our family. We both clicked, when it came to tolerance and adjustments; as mine was a joint family. She was 20 APRIL, 2016 - TULIP

aad is very family oriented and a friendly person. He believes that being family oriented shapes our values in the most disciplined manner which any decent society demands. Moral Values and respect for elders builds in the pillars of congeniality in a person. He loves to be as ambidextrous as he can, whether be it his work, or family support. He believes a person needs to be honest in his relationship and dedicated to his profession - these are one of the most important qualities’ in life. Sakeena is a very family loving person. Being born as a Hyderabadi, she thinks these values are deeply embedded into ones personality. She was raised and educated in Bangalore, but her mother hailing from Hyderabad, had the Hyderabadi culture overruling their home environment. Her life surrounds around her family and their treasured son “Shayaan”. She feels “Parenting” is not all about chores, it is also about playful enjoyment, good interaction and celebration of family life with each other.

Saad & Sakeena Farooqui Special Bonding Rapid fire One thing you both admire about each other? Saad: Her patience Sakeena: caring attitude The best gift you have received from each other? Saad: I think there are too many to be mention. But whatever we receive from each other, we cherish and appreciate it. Sakeena: His first buy of Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate. How do you spend time with each other? Saad: Long drives and watching a movie. Sakeena: Being happy and being together. more a tomboy kind of a person. In contrast to me she loves chocolates, movies, sports and cats. Her way of simplicity clicked to me as the most desirable thing in a life partner. We got married in Hyderabad in April 2010 and were blessed with Shayaan in 2013. Tell us, how has the journey been since you have been married? Sakeena: It has been a happy journey; it’s been six years since we got married now. Having our son has made our relation more strong. I feel I am very lucky to have both of them in my life. I had read once and truly believe in Joyce Maynard’s writings “It’s not only children who grow. As much as we watch to see what our children do with their lives, they are watching us to see what we do with ours. I can’t tell my children to reach for the sun. All I can do is reach for it, myself.” Tell us about your work or yourself as an individual in daily life, what keeps you busy? Saad: Today by the grace of Allah, I hold a responsible post in Zinda tilismath, Karkhana, as a Chief Accounts Officer and heading the entire Finance Department. I have been holding this post for almost 7 years now. I am proud to be a part of this organisation as it is one of oldest firms established in old Hyderabad; manufacturing worldwide famous Unani medicines, like Zinda Tilismath, Farooky tooth Powder, Zinda Balm and Zint Lozenges. Along with my regular work, I have taken an initiative to invite students from various schools and colleges to come on an industrial visit. Being a cicerone for these students who come to our factory on an industrial visit is quite exciting part of my work life. I feel, I play the role of an academic in answering their questions, queries and assisting them in their projects etc. Sakeena: My first job was in the teaching line, at Kangaroo Kids, Banjara hills. It was a very pleasing job. I got a quite a lot to learn from this. But after our son was born, I gave it up as I felt I needed to give more time towards his upbringing. Today, I love being a mom because of the hugs, the giggles, and the grins of my son; these are my greatest treasures in life. I believe that loving my son has taught me to be more patient, more loving and much more appreciative of every moment we spend together as a family. Best memorable moment of your togetherness by far? Sakeena: I think it was the arrival of Shayaan into our life has been the most memorable moment of our life.

Saad: Travelling or reading a mystery novel. 10) One thing you love about each other? Saad: Her innocence Sakeena: His easy going nonchalant attitude.

One common passion you both share? Saad: When it comes to common likes, hobbies and tastes it is quite difficult as Sakeena and I share quite different views on likes, hobbies and interests. But, one common thing which, we both love to go out for is a late night drive and treating oneself with an ice cream.

Jyoti Sethi, a renowned actress, born and bought up in Punjab, made her way to the film industry by chance and is now working on some big projects in Bollywood. We speak to her about her career and how she beats the heat this season. Read on to know her more. Tell us about yourself as an individual, personal and upfront? I am a very chilled out person. I’m not an actress being either an actress. I don’t behave like one. I am a very care free person. Plus I am a very independent person; I have been earning since I was in school. I’m actually the single earning person in my family. I lost my father at a very young age and I am a single child to my mother. So I have been brought up like that, independent, taking care of my mother and in fact taking care of the expenses of the family. I think that way I have become a very strong person. I am an extrovert and I socialize a lot. How did the passion of becoming an actress start off? What drove you? There was no passion at all. I was into the corporate field and I was pursuing my MA in English. I was also doing a job simultaneously while I was studying. I had done a photoshoot because somebody once suggested me to and I gave it a go. I liked my photos and uploaded them on Facebook, that’s how people thought I am maybe a model and they started approaching me for various things. That is how I started off; I knew I can’t do two things at the same time. Actually three things because I was even studying at that time. I was in Punjab that time; I finished everything and called off my job, that’s when I shifted to Bombay. How did coming to Hyderabad and Tollywood happen? So, basically I started with Punjabi projects. After a couple of music videos and films which got shelved and didn’t happen even after shooting, I realised there is nothing much in Punjab, that you can either do a music video or a film. Then I shifted to Mumbai, people from south started calling me to come for auditions. That’s how, “Where is Vidya Balan” happened. I got a good response for it. I am doing another Telugu film and one Tamil film and while doing these things I also got an offer from Hindi. I just finished the shooting. Now I am doing another Hindi film, it’s another beautiful film, and very renowned people involved. Are you passionate about acting? I still don’t understand what passion is. I am into it, I am doing it to my maximum, till the time it’s feeding me I am good with it. I can still do it even if it is not feeding me with various other things. I just do what I like to do. Of course I love acting; I do not have any intensions of leaving acting. It’s our summer special issue, so, what do you do to beat the heat? Do you like the weather? I should say, I really like wearing shorts. The shortest shorts I can find. Leaving clothes apart, I drink a lot of water and I catch up on my sleep. I really feel fresh from inside. I drink a lot of fresh juices and eat good food. I don’t do dieting. I just eat good food to beat the heat. I like both the summer and the winters.

COVER STORY Can you tell us about your fitness and beauty regime that you follow for this weather? Water, fresh juices and good food. I think water is the solution for everything. But I do workout like three times a week. Even when I am travelling I do the floor exercises wherever I am, even if I am at the shoot and have good food and fresh juices. Talk about your upcoming projects? Right now, I am concentrating on my Hindi films. First one is with the younger son of Mr. Hariharan, Karan Hariharan. We have already shot the movie, it’s in post-production stage. It will release somewhere around June-July. The other one I have signed and I have already started shooting. I’ll be going to Mathura and Sri Lanka for the shooting. It’s a UP based story. I am going to play the lead there as well and I am so proud to have this project but I cannot reveal the name of my co-star as it’s too early. Where do you see yourself in the next five years? Where do you aspire to be? I don’t see myself anywhere even tomorrow, because I do not make plans. Yes, but what comes to mind- two-three things really, one I want to be content with whatever I have. The second thing, actually I’m a very peaceful person even though I like partying but ultimately when I come home, all I want is peace of mind. I am not at all desperate for anything. Whatever gives me peace and satisfaction in the following years, no one particular thing really but anything at that point of time? So, that’s where I see myself in next five years or ten years or tomorrow. Your inspiration and why? I think my mother has been my inspiration that way, though she is not that kind to call me ten times in a day to ask me if I ate or not. She is not somebody who worries about me much. She always believed in me being an independent woman and that I can take care of myself. But the way in which she is my inspiration is that- whatever my age is right now, at this age or even less than she had me, and she was a widow. Having brought me up alone, and when I saw that while growing up made me a stronger person I think. So, in that way I do not lose my heart and get dejected very easily. I just move on and work better and harder. Sometimes I think its better that it didn’t happen because something better is in store. What is the best part of being an actress? I know what the best part is, but that part has still not somehow come to me. It is all fame, and when you go out people recognizing you but that time hasn’t come to me yet, I am just two movies old. So, yes being recognized would be the best part. Your idea of spending perfect summer? I am currently going on a vacation to Sri Lanka. Actually I have a day’s shoot there so I decided why not stay some more days and travel. So, I am this weird person who likes to go to hill stations in winter and to beaches in summer. So, my perfect summer would be to spend time on a beach and sometime in hotels in the swimming pool even though I can’t swim. Be it any season, two vacations abroad is a must. Sum up a day in your life? If I am not working I wake up around 11 o’clock and spend a lot of time with my dog, Atom. Atom is somebody who literally sleeps on my tummy the whole day, whole night. I offer prayers and then I watch TV and have lunch. I also do a bit of reading, currently I am reading Mrs. Funnybones by Twinkle Khanna. I like a light read. I also watch a lot of movies. I definitely make sure that I go out and spend time with my friends. TULIP - APRIL, 2016 23

SURVIVAL OF THE HEALTHIEST

I

t’s that time of the year again, when classes and semesters are ending! And staying fit and healthy during this exam time is as much a challenge as is a necessity. But, most of us fail to realise the importance of staying healthy during exams. We let the exam stress grow on us and a majority of us are brought up in a society that gives more importance to the exam rather than well-being. However, remember, the idea is to deal with the pressure and not let it crush you in any way. No matter how important your exam is, make sure to always put your health first. Remember the age-old saying, “Health is Wealth”. In this article, we share with you some tips on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle during your exam-time and enjoy the challenge simultaneously.

MANAGING TIME Managing time can bring down your stress and anxiety levels drastically and it can be tricky too. And the most effective way to manage time during exams is to maintain a routine or time-table for all the things that you would normally do daily and not just studying.

DON’Ts • Exclude relaxation time from your time-table. Taking time out to watch that favourite program of yours is not wasting your time. But, make sure to keep the breaks short and avoid jumping from one YouTube video to other. It will save a lot of your time!

DOs • Make a schedule and stick to it. The first thing has to be, an effort to make yourself a time-table, where you may give slots to different subjects on particular days. It may not be possible to be on the exact schedule but, try your best!

Keep more things than needed on your study table. Make sure your surroundings are conducive to studying and avoid distractions.

Deprive yourself of sleep. Get the much needed rest during exams. Do not compromise on your sleeping hours. Get at least 6-8 hours of sleep daily.

Prioritize your ‘to-do list’ or the important topics that you would like to go through first thing in the morning before the exam. This sure does bring down the anxiety level to a great extent.

Make sure you set yourself deadlines. You may set phone alarms to set time for each topic, in this way you can check spending more time on ‘not-so important’ topics.

Write the important questions down and use sticky notes to mark important topics, so that it will be easy for you while revising the day before your exam and you wouldn’t miss any topic.

Take five minute breaks in-between your study time to unwind. I know it doesn’t seem like a lot of time but trust me it helps!

EXAM-TIME FOOD The most common mistake, students make during exam-time is the unhealthy food they consume. Mainly it’s the students away from home who indulge themselves into eating unhealthy but it has somehow become a cult. Junk food, for example, chocolates, energy drinks and crisps/chips etc. take the place of normal meals for many during exams. This may act as your comfort food at the moment but it does more harm in the long run to your health than anything. DOs • First and foremost, drink a lot of fluid. Preferably water but you can also go for freshly made juices (which can be time consuming, so we suggest to you - stick with water). Remember to keep a bottle of water on your desk while studying to keep reminding yourself to drink water regularly. •

Eat at regular intervals while studying. Eating regular meals helps to keep nutrients and energy levels more stable, curbing the temptation to snack on unhealthy stuff. Also to curb snacking unhealthy, before getting ready to study, keep a plate full of dry fruits and fruits on the desk to munch on during your study. One food item termed as unhealthy that is actually not that unhealthy is, peanut butter which contains healthy fats and lots of protein per serving can be taken as a study-time snack but not a lot at one time.

BEING ACTIVE/EXERCISING According to psychology studies, the average human brain can only focus on one task effectively for about 45 minutes. Research in neuroscience suggests that, focusing on the same thing for too long diminishes the brain’s ability to accurately process it. Hence, frequent breaks are a must.

Take out some time to make yourself some healthy food like, scrambled eggs, toast etc. and this also helps to keep your mind off the books for some time.

DON’T s • Take fizzy drinks regularly and limit your junk food intake, this will improve your exam performance by making you more focused. •

Skip breakfast on the day of your exam. We suggest you don’t skip any meal of your day but most importantly the breakfast. Breakfast is the most important of all the meals, hence avoid missing that one out.

Let stress get to you. Avoid over-eating due to stress or starve yourself.

DOs • As already mentioned above, breaks in-between study are in fact helpful and add to your well-being, hence, try to take frequent breaks during your study hours. •

You do not necessarily have to do a heavy exercise. A light walk will also do. As long as you are active and not in one place for hours, you are checking blood pools in your feet and allowing blood flow to your brain.

While making that time-table of yours, make sure you give some time to exercising as well. Either in the morning or in the evening. Take some time out to take that walk or jog in the park.

Reward your achievements no matter how big or small. Finished one chapter, go make yourself a sandwich or dance to your favourite song. These act as motivation and help you pick study again.

On the day of the exam, be sure to engage in some moderate physical activity to warm up your body and brain for writing the exam.

DON’T s • Ignore body aches and pains while studying for a long time; most of the time it is the sign of fatigue due to constant sitting. •

Let your brain burn out. It’s important to stay fresh on your exam day.

Ignore any sporting facility in the vicinity. Students in hostels definitely can make use of the college gym.

DID YOU KNOW THAT- Exercise and other physical activity produce endorphins- chemicals in the brain that act as natural painkillers and also improve the ability to sleep, which in turn reduces stress.

TULIP - APRIL, 2016 25

CAMPUS BUZZ HOMELIFE To be in good health is also to be in a stable environment. And a happy home life contributes a lot to mental peace/good health during examtime. And this we may add, everybody at home has the responsibility in doing their parts. DOs • First and foremost, if you are a nervous-wreck for an important exam, it is highly recommended that you talk to someone you are close to and let them know how you feel. •

Communicate as communication acts as a major solution to avoid stress and anxiety during an important time.

Put up a large public time-table, preferably where everyone can see or reach, maybe on fridge, assigning everyone their chores. This way you can avoid arguments as to who has to do what. Works well when sharing a flat or room during exam time.

Get your sibling or friend who does not have exams into helping you with your studies, or maybe even ask a parent for help.

Get your vital exam kit ready a week before to avoid anxious moments. Keep multiple stationary items for just in case. Keep abundant stuff, so that maybe even a friend or sibling can use when needed.

DON’Ts • Let the pressure of exam keep you from doing your regular chores, as these also help in bringing down stress levels and give you the much needed exercise that you need during your exam time. •

Avoid a good talk under time constraints as talking helps in releasing your mind off pressure. If you are away from home, call up your parents or sibling or even a friend and have a general talk. This will help your mind freshen up a bit.

Ignore your hobbies. We recommend you do not treat examtime as any different and carry on the way you would normally with extended study hours, but you can always give sometime to maybe painting, playing basketball, a bit of video game or anything that you love.

Expert Speak How can students combat anxiety during exams? 1. Avoid keeping everything to the last minute. Study throughout the year and don’t leave the entire burden on one day. In case you haven’t prepared in advance, don’t panic, do as much as you can without over-burdening yourself. For example; if you know you can finish two chapters in an hour then stick to that, don’t attempt to finish ten. 2. Try to have a support group among your peers. This mitigates the burden of exam to some extent. Interacting and talking to your peers helps lessen your panic. 3. Also do not avoid eating, sleep regularly, meditate, do some light exercise. Do not treat the exams as something bigger than they really are. But if you are severely stressed definitely seek professional help. How to increase concentration? 1. First of all, you need to realise how your body functions. Maybe you are able to concentrate more at night than during the day. Every individual’s body behaves differently. You have to realise the time your mind is at its peak.

4. Meditate- Meditation is a good form to boost concentration. Set a time table and sleep well. How to deal with expectations? 1. Your Expectations- You need to realise what are you aiming for. If you are setting high expectations for yourself and persistently failing to achieve it, you need to realise your strength or depth of work. Where do you stand and how much effort do you need to put and if your body allows it. Don’t keep on setting these expectations, this will let your morale down instead tone the expectations down, increase them gradually. Know yourself, change your targets and the way you want to achieve them. 2. Parents/Peer Expectation - Parents/Peer expectation/pressure is inevitable in the society we live. You can of course, deal with such pressures by talking and communicating/sharing your problems or challenges with your peers. Communication plays a huge part in bringing down the burden/pressure.

Then, you need to realise for how long you can concentrate on one topic. Do not stretch your limits. Know yourself. Then, depending on what subjects you like and don’t like you can prioritise and set targets. 2. If you can’t concentrate for long, don’t worry- study for fifteen minutes, take a break, then again study for fifteen minutes. Set targets on a daily basis, the workload will be less and that would help you concentrate more. 3. Also try to study in a place where everyone is studying, a library for example. This will motivate you to study. Or make your environment as conducive to study as possible. 26 APRIL, 2016 - TULIP

pressure. Hence, imagine peaceful scenery- a future vacation or even imagine yourself accomplishing a future goal. To give your brain the rest it needs! Buy yourself a plant or a fish! Yes! You heard us right. You can buy yourself a houseplant that along with calming you down acts as air purifier. Researchers have found, simply being around plants can induce your relaxation response. If you are not a plant person, you can always get yourself a fish! We wouldn’t exactly recommend you to buy an entire fish tank (that would be time consuming with maintaining it) instead get a fish bowl and one fish. Researchers also report that quietly watching a fish swim eases stress and offer a means of treating high blood pressure. FUN WAYS TO DE-STRESS One may not realise it, but it is very important to de-stress during the high tension times. When one is stressed, hormones like cortisol flood our system, producing a response in which our heart rate goes up, we breathe more heavily (requiring more oxygen) and our blood vessels constrict, leading to chronic conditions like, hypertension and headaches, as well as mental health concerns like depression and anxiety disorders. You cannot necessarily avoid stress but you can definitely check it and here we give you ways that can work wonders if you are stressed! Go for a ten minute walk Walking helps to clear your brain and boosts endorphins, which in turn reduces stress hormones. Visualize A short visualization of your happiest self takes away a lot of that

30 second dance party! A thirty second dance party in-between your study acts as a major stress-reliever. It also helps stretch your muscles and decreases fatigue. Make yourself a vision/inspiration board Make yourself a vision/inspiration board with visuals before your exams in order to draw inspiration and to keep going. These boards also bring down anxiety levels as they act as your inspiration and keep reminding you to work hard and give you a reason. These also give a chance for you to get creative and keep on adding your goals/inspiration as you go about. Watch a viral video Laughter is a good relaxation technique. It increases intake of oxygenrich air, stimulates heart, lungs and muscles and increases the endorphins that are released by the brain. But don’t go on forever, as these videos can be addictive and it becomes difficult to not click the next button.

Student Speak GAURAV SEAL (IAS Aspirant) I give myself enough time to study and I don’t leave it until the last minute. Time management is very crucial when we appear for an exam. Making a time-table for studying really helps. I do group studies with my friends and in the process; we cover topics that we missed. I don’t sit and study for long hours, instead I take small breaks after every hour of study. I listen to songs, watch cartoons and have a snack. These activities de-stress me before I sit for studying again. I have a good night sleep before the day of the exam. It helps me clear my mind before I sit for the exam.

RUCHIE DAS (Fashion Design Student) I usually start studying by six in the evening. My maximum extent of studying continuously is about an hour and half. Then I take a break and I usually have some tasty snacks in between. After about half an hour I start studying again and the process continues. Eating snacks is my mode of relaxation.

ANWESHA MOHANTY (Student of Social Science) My preparation for any exam is pretty simple, I’m a lazy person so I usually start my study just before the exams. I go through the notes and during exams I stick to the time-table. My stress relief mechanism would be lots of ice-cream, chocolates and a nice walk but I don’t usually get stressed! SUPRITI KAR (Management Student) Exam is a very stressful time for me. I always prefer studying in a group. That helps me remember better and reduce the burden. I relax with my study group by taking a walk. Once the group study is done I prefer to revise throughout the night till I fall asleep. In the morning I start revision till I step into the exam hall. I also prefer to unwind by listening to some music since it helps me relax.

Dance Fiesta

Its international dance day on April 29th and we have the best of passionate dancers for you, from around the city who excel in different dance forms. They speak about how dance is beyond a obsession; it means the world to them.

Aditi Rao, Bharatnatyam Dancer

Aditi is trained in the Indian classical art form - Bharatanatyam for the past 15 years. A strong base and experience over the years, prompted her to explore the field of contemporary arts and hence she successfully completed a diploma in Movement Arts and Mixed Media from the Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts, Bengaluru. “I really do not know how and when it became my passion, it just happened and I am glad. Passion for dance was inherent & inborn and drawing Inspiration and support from my parents who are already into Music & Fine Arts, I took the courage to venture into Classical Dancing which happened to me as early as, when I was six years old. I grew up learning Bharatanatyam from my Guru Padmashree Dr Ananda Shankar Jayant in Hyderabad. I cannot adequately describe what dance makes me feel. It makes me fly but keeps me grounded, both at the same time. It is a way of life, a journey full of freedom and happiness, a treat to the body & soul. Over the years, dance has evolved in me, and continues to do so. From initially being nervous to becoming confident and free, the art has transformed me into what I am today. Each time I step on to a stage it’s a blend of feelings, but what I take back home from each performance is happiness and satisfaction. The satisfaction of doing only what I love to do. In that sense l consider myself lucky, to have pursued the profession of my dreams and lead a life of self satisfaction”, explains Aditi.

Diwakar Kamtam,

Hip Hop & Contemporary Dancer Dance has always been inside him like how any other kid starts dancing when he happens to hear music, but dance became his passion, when he was around 15 years old. “Honestly, I haven’t been trained professionally under any instructor, whatever I do today is all self learnt, for except Belly Dancing, yes, I’m still getting trained under Meher Malik. I can proudly say that I’m the First Male Belly Dancer from Hyderabad. Apart from this I do Contemporary and Hip - Hop (Urban, Krump, Lyrical, Street, Locking), and won lot of hearts performing and spreading the knowledge that I have. As an individual, I am very mischievous and a happy go lucky person. I do things my way and keep my friends and family around me always entertained. I love having happy faces around me. I believe in enjoying life to the fullest. I believe dance to me has been the best blessing from God. I’ve always been thankful to him for the gift he has given to me and will, forever be. My inspiration is Prabhu Deva. Being a dancer, I’ve done the same things as my fellow dancers have, auditioning and competing on higher levels, but we also know the inside stories. After all of it, I’d just want to say, that, I would want to be known at least in my own city in this field of dancing - that’s my world. By saying this, I’d like to add that I have also started my facebook page - ‘Diwakar’s Gotta Dance’ - a little sneak peak of my work that is a small step towards my goal. Being a Dancer, when we perform, we just feel every note of the music - it’s just our feelings that we love to portray through this amazing form of art – DANCE,”says Diwakar. 28 APRIL, 2016 - TULIP

Neha Rajabzade, Belly Dancer

She has been on stage as a dancer since she was a kid and that’s what she always loved doing. “I have been trained under Meher Malik and Payal Gupta for Belly Dancing and as Dance is a vast subject, I have always enjoyed learning any style of it. Being the only kid and living in a small family, I have always loved making loads of friends and hanging out. I just hate being home. Apart from dancing, I engage myself emceeing for Events, Sangeets (both, choreographing and emceeing), any get together, parties, etc. Dance to me is happiness. It brings me joy of dancing and learning. I do not really have an inspiration in specific, but every artist inspires me through their own talent of share. I have always admired each of them. Before we head forward, it is important for us to remember our previous accomplishments and challenges from the previous year. I believe that one’s journey differs from the rest around you but if you can trust yourself, you will often surprise yourself with what you can accomplish. For me, Dance is a medium through which we show the world who we truly are and who we can be, let that be on stage or off stage”, says Neha.

Pratik Sharma,

Jazz & Ballet Dancer Pratik started dancing when he was in Intermediate. Slowly, his interest towards dancing increased to such a level that it is his profession now. “I am a Diploma In Dance from Terence Lewis Academy (Mumbai). I am trained in Contemporary, Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop and I am passionate about Contemporary style. I am a very simple guy, soft hearted and easy going. I worked hard and went to Mumbai to get myself trained; now I am doing well as a Choreographer. I own a dance institute named - Bare Sole Dance Academy (Abids). Dance to me is, I can only think of all my Gurus who taught me various styles and blessed me with lot of knowledge. With all that knowledge, I can proudly share all my dancing skills with my students and people around and they enjoy a lot. When I was a kid my biggest inspiration was Hrithik Roshan. No doubt he is still my inspiration. Who inspires me the most is Mr. Ravinder Singh, my senior from the Terence Lewis Academy. My biggest achievement is Bare Sole Dance Academy. For me sky is the limit. Soon, I am also going to set my goals in television industry. I have mixed feelings while I perform, in fact you start thinking of your choreography, about your body posters, are you pretty warmed up, costume, music, dancers many things. One more thing that comes in my mind is when I am on stage is, I want to win each and every single person heart who has come to see my performance. Once you are over, the appreciation you get is priceless,” says Pratik. TULIP - APRIL, 2016 29

Contemporary is the style I am passionate about as it allows me to express myself without using words. It involves a lot of grace, feeling, depth and passion which very rightly describes me. I am a people’s person; I love to meet new people and will do anything to make them happy. Caring, fun loving and extrovert by nature. Mr. Shiamak Davar, my Guru! Working as a Dance Instructor in his company for nine years has changed my life as a dancer and an individual! Spreading the joy of dance to thousands of people watching you and listening to the applause after the performance makes you believe that all your efforts to live your passion is totally worth it,” she says.

Saloni Jain, Bollywood Dancer

“Dancing was a hobby since her childhood, and after her 10th boards, she started her technical training at dynamic dance zone. To her fortune, her talent was quite appreciated by her instructors and fellow mates and then she headed with numerous opportunities. “It was challenging that I had to manage my studies along with my dancing career. To support this count of encouragement was less. I was told that I won’t be able to balance two legs in two ships but they didn’t know that this demotivation was encouraging me. I didn’t want to respond back but rather let my success make noise. Today I hold titles for the winner of dance Hyderabad dance season 1; 1st runner up in footloose season 2 ; 2nd runner up in chakde gujarati/rajasthani; winner of Hyderabad dance premier league in group category; and performing for celebrities like Kapil Sharma, Kareena Kapoor, Ajay Devgn and many more. Bollywood style of dance is one of my favorite styles as it is one of the hottest dances around and since childhood I used to imitate famous signature steps of hit bollywood songs. I don’t believe in flattering and boasting. I am straight forward, ambitious and goal oriented. I do not react back to negative pass-on rather try to prove them wrong by my actions. I always try to improve my work from the previous. Basically my motto is “talk less, work more”. Passion, stress buster, ease of my satisfaction. After each routine I feel lighter and relaxed and I am lucky to be a part of this art. My inspiration is my father. All my ambitions and achievements... I am working hard for is to make them proud. And the stage where I am today is all because of his support. I wish to choose dance as my lifetime career and excell in this art to become one of the topmost dancers of the country. In fact, learn as much as I can until my last breath. I accept the fact that I have a long way to go and I’m mentally prepared to face all the hardships throughout this journey. Well I am not good enough to express my emotions by words but dance is the companion that conveys all my emotions. When I give my hundred percent and get down the stage, each drop of sweat is the outcome of my perseverance. The moment an artist steps down the stage and his work is appreciated by masses of crowd till he reaches his destination is the true definition of success, not only the laurel offered.” Saloni says.

How would you describe your signature look and what sets you apart from the other makeup artists? My signature look is a combination of dewy, glowing and flawless skin, perfect eyes and brows. I love to define the eyes and make them look extraordinary. What sets me apart from other makeup artists is my knowledge to understand the soul of a woman and always trying to bring the reflection of her inner beauty on her face. What is a common summer beauty regime advice that you can give to women? The most important one is to drink lots of water and choose the right sunscreen with the right SPF. I think the fact that I have to deliver every single time and match up to the expectations of my clients is the biggest challenge. Also, it is a challenge to keep reinventing yourself and acknowledge the fact that each client is different. What are some common beauty mistakes that women make? To avoid cleansing, toning and moisturizing, not using sunscreen, over exfoliating and falling asleep with your makeup on, are some of the most common mistakes that women tend to make. Who are some people that have inspired you throughout your career? My family, friends and a special one have always inspired me to make me whatever I am today. Also, special thanks to my mentors Simmi Ghai and Seema v Jerajani for enhancing and polishing my skills. What is your favorite spring/ summer 2016 trend? Startup Telangana T-Hub is a unique public/private partnership between the government of Telangana, 3 of India’s premier academic institutes (IIIT-H, ISB & NALSAR) and key private sector leaders. It stands at the intersection of the start-up, academic, corporate, research and government sectors. The board of Directors Jayesh Ranjan, BVR Mohan Reddy, CP Gurnani, Sashi Reddi, Ajit Rangnekar, P J Narayanan and many more. T-Hub is India’s largest incubator for startups, located in Hyderabad, Telangana. The first phase of T-Hub was formally launched by E. S. L. Narasimhan, Governor of Telangana & AP, and Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, and Telangana IT & Panchayat Raj Minister K. T. Rama Rao. The second phase of T-Hub is currently in planning stage. The first phase of T-Hub is housed in a state-of-the-art 70,000 square foot building called CatalysT, making it the largest incubator in a single location, in India, entirely dedicated to entrepreneurship. Located at the IIIT-H Campus, Gachibowli, this facility will bring the start-up community together by providing a platform for entrepreneurs, mentors, investors and academia to interact and collaborate. The infrastructure facilities at the building will be used for co-working spaces, meetings, mentoring, networking sessions and conferences. T-Hub provides access to mentors, investors and academia under one roof.

What can on expect? Mr. Rama Rao says, “We want Hyderabad to be identified with start-ups. In the West, Universities played a big role in nurturing young talent, which ultimately created huge IT companies. We will provide similar environment to Indian start-ups in Hyderabad. Youngsters just need to have a great idea. The business plan, technical support and legal support like help on intellectual property rights etc. will be taken care by T-Hub”.

With the launch of T-hub, Hyderabad is going to emerge as the destination for entrepreneurs. The fact that it is a public private partnership could be the key to its success. Catchy slogans, colorful walls to world class facilities, it reminds me of Silicon Valley, the University Avenue, where everything you learn is just by osmosis. Take a walk down the street, knowledge will hit you from everywhere. When you have such a large bunch of people, investors, mentors, start-ups from all the possible areas, you just learn by talking to other people. Also, with the support of our Prime Minister the ease of doing business will definitely improve. Ankur Nahata, Student 36 APRIL, 2016 - TULIP

FEATURE This concept is what we need in India and I am glad it first started off in Hyderabad, as the country has lot of potential, but no proper platform. I am very sure this is going to open doors for younger generation who are filled with ideas. We need more such startup places and this will surely change the face of our Nation one day. At the Latest NDTV Indian of the Year Award 2016

The founders of six Indian start ups jointly get the NDTV Indian of the Year 2015 award. The big winners of the evening were Flipkart, Snapdeal, Paytm, Quikr, Zomato and Inmobi. Pranay Chulet’s shared how he hit upon the idea of Quikr, during his first efforts to make a movie - a subject he knew little about. To fill that gap Quikr, a classified advertising platform, was born. Today it has listings for more than 1,000 Indian cities in categories like cellphones, cars, real estate and jobs. Talking of startups we have the #startupindia moment started by Mr. Narendra Modi, it was perhaps the largest startup conference for entrepreneurs in India with his action plan, which included new policies and initiatives that would make it easier for investors and startup founders to incubate their ventures in the country. • A Rs. 10,000 crore fund for startups • A single point of registration for startups • A simplified regulatory regime based on self-certification • A credit guarantee fund for startups • Tax exemption for three years, and capital gains and lots more.

I can just relate into how much it takes to starting up a new venture as I am just indulging into one – Coupocon which is a coupon book to avail discounts at various outlets and eateries. By introducing the T-hub, the government has done an excellent job for young and budding entrepreneurs who want to do something of their own. I am sure Indians will be budding with ideas and T-hub will always be a great platform to give the ideas an action in the near future. Manish Chandnani, Director at Coupocon

Kunal Bahl, the creator of Snapdeal, said that at a time when everyone was spending billions on start-up ideas, he looked around for someone to provide - if not the capital - advice and trust. The person he thought of was Ratan Tata. Sachin Bansal, the creator of Flipkart, India’s highest valued startup that employs 33,000 people, sketched the journey of e-commerce companies over the last seven years. Deepinder Goyal, the creator of Zomato - the wildly popular restaurant search and discovery platform -- sadly confided that he doesn’t get to eat out much. “Because if I get sick I can’t go to office and I can’t afford that.” “I grew up in a family that was not so privileged that they can build large companies or bright futures... I gave up 40% of the company for 8 lakh rupees,” said Vijay Shekhar Sharma, which pushed him to see if there was a way to change how Indians used financial services. His answer was Paytm, a leading online payment and mobile wallet company. IIT graduate Abhay Singhal, who started mobile advertising company Inmobi in a room full of mattresses and today owns 24 offices, said it is all about dreaming big. His rule of thumb -- “If it is so big that you are scared to speak it out, that means it is big”.

All About

Budget 2016 Budget 2016-17 is a mix bag of good and better things, A big boost towards agriculture as well start ups is promised, but price and tax hikes are still a point to ponder upon. This we say, as, a common man pays more amount of tax when compared to rich honchos, surprisingly the cream of society has been bestowed with more number of tax responsibilities and the change in provident policy gains is like a feather in cap as it comforts a major section of present or coming economic generation. If only the budget improves at least 10% of our economic status, we will be a better country to live and work in. Below are the few highlights of this year’s budgets which are pretty impressive and promising too: Govt. has to prioritize expenditure with a focus on the rural and social sectors, infrastructure and recapitalization of banks. Gurnek Singh,

Businessman “A much bigger saving for the Centre from low global commodity prices is, however, on account of petroleum subsidy. From a level of Rs 85,378.16 crore in 2013-14, this subsidy is expected to fall to Rs 30,000 crore this year and further to Rs 26,947 crore for 2016-17. The Centre has managed to contain its overall subsidy bill within Rs 250,000-260,000 crore. The existing low global prices of oil and fertilisers mean there is no pressure to reform either. And the chances of it are even more remote when the government has entered its third year, which is the case now.”

Harjeet Kaur

Writer “I was totalling the crestfallen after going through the budget. It is reassuring to note the allocations to the empowerment of women have doubled to Rs 50 crore. The scheme meant for implementation and no priority has been given to critical issue like women safety. Jaitley had no choice but to roll back to budget proposal. The budget was standard and was not earth shaking explosion”. 38 APRIL, 2016 - TULIP

Housemaker “The government could increase import duty on gold since gold import have increased over the year and has partly contributed to the trade deficit and week rupee on account of forex outflow”.

Vishakha Sharma

Law Graduate “The budget 2016 has unveiled a big focus on the idea of digitising all educational certificates is a novel way to bring more transparency to education sector and great growth for employment”.

Urshila Ganji

Student “The nation budget 2016-17 was presented by Arun Jaitley. 1.5 crore poor household will be benefitted with LPG connection, new health protection, higher education and various other progressive announcements have been made”.

Pavitter Kaur Sahni Law Graduate “India’s macroeconomics fundamentals have improved due to a combination of lower commodity prices by the union government. Budget 2016 is an opportunity to expand reform investment and sustain India’s upward growth”.

Mohammed Sami

Student “Talking about Union budget which was presented this year, from the reforms that were presented and unchanged what is good for the nation in my opinion is that excise duty on tobacco product that is up by 10% to 15%. It also proposes many reforms that is in favour or say helpful for people who run low on finance. There are also schemes for the people who deal with health issues. With the initiative of Modi’s government, the digital literacy seems to be their aim, but what is worth thinking is ones need to feed themselves out of that”. - By Simar Oberoi

FASHION

There’s a huge fire all over, where everyone wants to seem to dress well and look their best. So why is it that after a certain age, it doesn’t matter anymore? Well, that’s just a myth because petty things like age are no barrier and such a spark won’t burn out easily.

The

Spark

Everything changes with time! But, fashion and beauty can last forever and become evergreen, only if we want it to.

Does

not die!

When you ask people about fashion, the things that comes to their mind would be ‘clothes’ or ‘status influenced brands’, but let me tell you- there is more to that. Fashion is definitely more than your Gucci’s bag, Aldo’s shoes or Vero Moda’s strappy red dress. Fashion is a manner which makes one’s eyes pop out just to have a glance at something you possess. So much that they want to follow you and follow everything you like, dislike and adore. From the decors of our work place to the furniture in our house. From what junk jewels do women love to don to the ties men love to suit with their favorite suits, everything we follow is fashion!

For whoever thinks forty is too old, needs to give a second thought to that. Some style and fashion tips would be:

Glow at forty For Women, The must have shoes for you would be black and brown flats or ballerinas (BUY THEM FIRST), and broader heels with a support. You could emphasize more on your mature-chic look by adding a bright colored scarf (if it’s a dull outfit) and definitely a beautiful hand bag always works.

44 APRIL, 2016 - TULIP

For Men, Never wear those t-shirts you probably still have with catchy slogans or cartoons or that makes you look unsophisticated. Always remember that the bottom of the pant leg should only reach the top of your shoe as when your socks show, it speaks volumes about you.

FASHION

Sassy at fifty And for the ones in fifty’s struggling or contradicting their own selves about how to improvise or better their already fashion sense, read these tips..

For women,

Clean Cuts and Classic designs make you look classy and pretty than the fussy, bling and frilly floral prints, TRY CLASSY. Don’t confine yourself to baggy clothes in order to hide your tires or curves. Instead, get tailored tight fitting and comfortable clothes yet make it dressy.

For Men,

Invest in subtle accessories that will get you recognized for your style, not your spending power. Whatever you do, make sure the color of your belt matches the color of your attire’s shoes. Old is gold! They say; when you are sixty you are old and you have to go all old school, but that isn’t true..!

Here are certain tips for you all of sixties For Men, One general rule would now be the darker the better (so indigo or black), the one exception we make is for white jeans or pants. Instead of getting edgy haircuts, go for the one that suits your face type and personality.

For Women, Go the monochromatic (i.e wearing one, simple color like red, khaki, etc) route which would make you look slimmer and classier. Pick clothes in contrast to the color of your eye and skin tone (i.e. Ones with darker skin tone or eye color can wear almost any vibrant color) and vice versa.

Little care equals ageless beauty And now, let’s talk about beauty. What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when we say ‘beauty’? It’s not just essential to dress well but also for your skin to look presentable and hygienic. As you know, beauty is attitude and how you present yourself. Certain ways to look beautiful always and forever would be: Basic beauty tips for age groups from 40-60:

Best Products

1. Avoid getting those weekly dye touch ups at salon and apply soft, natural and lighter colour parts through your hair to reduce the harshness on parting. Salt and pepper hair dye would look flawless on some of you.

The next question that probably will arise in your minds would be what products could do wonders and act as saviors for you? Well, here is the answer

2. For women, color your brow slightly if there is any grey hair instead of Over-plucking the grey hair which would only destroy your follicle. 3. Regardless of age, DONT underestimate the importance of dental care now and consider using veneers which fix dental flaws beyond color and gives you a gorgeous smile forever. 4. Drink loads of water and green tea as it maintains the circulation in your skin and keeps it well nourished. 5. For women, use heavier moisturizers which contains amino acids because that keeps your skin hydrated and let’s it breathe at night. Whereas, men need to apply an everyday moisturizer with SPF 30 to avoid wrinkles, tan and even diseases like skin cancer. 46 APRIL, 2016 - TULIP

The most recommended products would be: 1. Nivea Pure Fine Talc Powder: It absorbs moisture leaving your skin hydrated and soft. 2. Olay Total Effects CC cream: Reduces wrinkles, dark circles and evens your skin tone. 3. Old Spice after Shave lotion (musk): This lotion is a must have for all the men out there. It keeps your skin healthy, smooth and fresh after shaving and prevents the cuts that sometimes arrive after a shave.

Expert Tip by Shweta Malpani l

Men and women both need to reevaluate their sense of style post 50’s.

l

There are a lot of do’s and don’ts with of course exceptions all the time.

l

Women should avoid tight fitted clothes for two reasons: it might look over the top in this age and also health wise, it might hamper circulation.

l

Too much print and bright neon colors can be replaced by classic colors (navy, taupe etc).

l

Basic makeup (kohl, blush, lipstick) will add to the grace, heavy foundation and eyeliner is definitely a no!

l

Men should also avoid tight t-shirts and jeans. They can opt for classic Nehru jackets for semi formal or casual outings, biker jackets can be relocated to the son’s closet.

l

Formal suits can be tailored as per the current trend, be it single button, thin lapel etc.

l

Too many dont’s, but please don’t fret as there are several articles for both sexes which can make a statement, a planned good investment can be made in shoes, belts, bags, scarves, a hip pair of glasses or a brooch. TULIP - APRIL, 2016 47

No Indian woman is ever over-dressed in a sari. This evergreen fashion statement though is always in fashion in some form or another, it’s not always easy to carry well. Pinky Reddy does an amazing job of pairing the bandhini sari with the statement jewellery that makes the look even classier!

When in doubt wear black and when not in doubt then also wear black. Because it’s one such statement that goes with everything and on everyone. Renu Sukheja looks effortlessly beautiful in this outfit; it’s not too simple and not too much. The golden belt makes the look complete!

Nitin Bhatia adorns a checked shirt with denims and a tan brown belt, we think he looks so versatile in this classic attire! Denims are something that should not go out of your closet.

Sirisha, did a great job at going the classy way by choosing an outfit that is white yet it has a hint of Indian-ness to it with the colourful embroidery. The light pink on the lips balances the bright pink in the outfit and the statement earrings brings it all together.

Accessorize It Up!

Accessories help to highlight a dress or apparel. They can also help to hide a weakness of the dress too. However, choosing the best accessories for oneself can at times be a daunting task. One must always make sure to pick up elegant pieces which do not need much pairing. A lot of pairing results in flaws, like they say. Keep it simple, silly!

Bling it the Indian way: Wearing a pair of jhumkas with bangles is considered a classic statement - trends have come and gone but it’s the most traditional or let’s call it vintage look that will never go out of fashion. You don’t have to show off your whole jewelry collection. Go for a bold ring that matches your jewelry and team it up with your best of Indian or Indo-Western wear. Pieces like this Leopard Cartier neckpiece calls for elegance. You don’t have to look for anything else when donning this chunky piece.

Pom-Pom Cuff: A colorful pom-pom bracelet splashes a rainbow on your wrist. The origin of Pom-Pom jewelry was by the tribes in Karnataka in the early ‘50s.

Evil Eye Cuff Bracelets: Evil eyes deflect the harmful energies that are being focused onto a person towards it, thus dispersing its powers. The sign of the eye is considered as a potent talisman for shielding oneself against evil forces in almost every culture of the world.

50 APRIL, 2016 - TULIP

Bohemian Jhumkas: Bohemian trend has created a rage in the market trend. Bohemia, which is now a part of the Czech Republic, played an important role in the history of costume jewelry. It was in glass center of Gablonz, at the end of the Victorian Era, that Austrian jeweler Daniel Swarovski introduced the first cutglass crystals to successfully imitate the look of diamonds, rubies, sapphires, and emeralds.

FASHION

Tassel Rings: Tassels are the trend of the season, be it in clothes, earrings, necklace or rings; they add a lot of drama to your look.

Pearl Bling Headphones: This piece is totally dramatic, especially for people who love working out. Why leave fashion out of the thing you love most?

Chandelier Earrings: These are yet again classic for any evening look - minimal or going all out, these never fail to rock. While wearing dramatic chandelier earrings wear a French bun. A French bun allows the glow of the chandeliers to fall on your face. Chandeliers are popular with different styles and varying lengths. They can be short and end just below your earlobe, or be a showstopper piece almost touching your shoulders. Earlier chandelier designs had major influence from both the Art Deco and Middle Eastern styles, but with passage of time, design patterns evolved and became in sync with the contemporary trends.

ORNAMENTAL BLISS

ORNAMENTAL BLISS is an extension of Ornabliss, a store that caters to fashion accessories like shoes and bags whereas Ornamental Bliss caters to high end fashion accessories. Fashion accessories do not only include jewelry but also high end hats, watches, sunglasses, headsets, head gears and tassels. Ornamental Bliss makes sure to essence the best of style and glamour. Tips by Manisha Bathija -Long earrings are complimented by a high pony or a bun. -A bold necklace should always be worn with a less dramatic pair of earrings. You can, however, pair a bold necklace with a bold bracelet or ring. This separates the focal points and pulls the whole look together. -Gold and silver can be paired together and can offer a stunning look but only if the pieces you choose work together. Mixing and matching your pieces can be a great way to create an eclectic and even elegant look. -Right now feathered statement jewelry is all the rage and it should be about you and trends cannot tell you who you are. If there is a current trend that you love, by all means go for it but don’t waste money on something you just aren’t feeling. -Your statement jewelry needs to work with whatever outfit you’re planning to wear or it isn’t going to work at all. Your jewelry will look like an afterthought instead of part of the plan. It will look like it was thrown on at the last minute and that will distract from the overall look you’re going for. You don’t need to spend a lot of time picking the perfect jewelry for an outfit but make sure you take a moment or two to consider whether or not you’ve made the right selection for your outfit before you leave the house. RAIMAN

The label was started by Raiman Sethi with her passion and love for textiles. The prime focus was to revive the ethnic vintage crafts into contemporary fashion with a flavor of Indian-ness in the silhouettes. Graduated in 2013 from NIFT, New Delhi with an award for the Best Design Collection, under the apprenticeship and guidance of designers Pankaj & Nidhi, she nurtured her passion and thereafter set out to begin her own line. The label focuses on creating fusion fashion using hand crafted natural textiles having a global aesthetic. They derive inspiration from the local surroundings capturing the tiniest of details and incorporating it in the garments. A weathered vintage breeze with a natural freshness flows through each piece made with love. The uniqueness of the label rests in the process of hand crafting the product in which the human touch, sweat and love has been invested. They believe that anything and everything is fashion as long as it is an original creation. “We feel the USP rests in the way we fuse the Indian textiles with the modern and feminine silhouettes which every woman would love to carry. Assembling the knick knacks and left overs in one platter is something what makes our product look detailed and unique. This also helps us in optimum utilization of our raw material. Online shopping being a mainstream these days is a great boom especially for fashion clothing. Our focus is on filling the void of indo contemporary market online. It gives us great pleasure and motivation on being appreciated by the Indian market. We would love to continue making women look their best holding on to the natural roots”, explains Raiman. DOODLAGE After working with export houses and designers, Kriti Tula was amazed at the amount of industrial waste produced and wanted to explore working with this so called ‘waste’. Once this idea took root in her head, it was just a matter of time before Doodlage was formed. Doodlage has been around for about two to two and half years now. “I hope to see a greater domestic and possibly international presence in the industry. I’m also excited to be a part of the sustainable design revolution in our country and hope to see it grow. In today’s age, where time is of the essence, online shopping is an extremely convenient solution. However, websites need to work on improving their customer experience which should be backed by a good CRM process. “The main inspiration behind every collection is always the fabric for the same. It is like putting back pieces from a puzzle. It is fun and challenging but a process you can never get bored of. In this new era of fashion, where sustainable design is growing and being appreciated the response has been overwhelming. It is wonderful to see people interested in what we do and why we do it. The aim is to do our bit for the environment and spread awareness about the same”, says Kriti. THE LOOM She is a true lover of Indian textiles. However, the kind of stuff Komal Goel wanted to buy for herself was not available online, or available at a very high price. Hence, her love for textiles and crafts became one of the most significant reasons behind starting The loom. “We started off with a small collection of Banarasi saris and kalamkari dupattas and the response we received has led to many more designers join The Loom. So, eventually it became a multi-designer store, where all the designers use only Indian textiles for their collection. Currently we have only designers on board, but we want the local craftsmen to join our platform too, so that we can decrease the costs further and make it affordable for more people”, Komal explains. She believes that online shopping has a huge scope, in metros as well as in the tier -2 cities. “In metros, people can’t afford to spend hours on roads, get stuck in traffi c jams and stand in queues for trials. So, online shopping has made life easier and in the tier-2 cities, people don’t have access to high quality clothing at local shops, so this gives them access to almost everything available in any part of country. India’s culture and its people are our biggest inspiration. Every state has something new to learn from and we try our best to keep learning from every corner we visit. The response that we have received till now has been unexpectedly great, yes there are speed breakers on every turn that we take, but we are learning to overcome the difficulties we face and keep going. Obstacles are always a big motivating factor to keep trying for solutions and coming across new ideas”, she grins. Website: www.theloom.in Instagram: theloom.in TULIP - APRIL, 2016 53

RAY & DALE

“In today’s age and time, fashion and clothing are two empowering terms that define our society. In India, there is a growing acceptance for men’s fashion trends. However we find a very low availability for a product of great quality, superior fit, trendy and at the same time affordable. This coupled with the growing online market for apparel and wide reach of social media and marketing was one of the main reasons why Ray & Dale was started as a men’s online boutique. The response in the past year has been really good in terms of people appreciating the products offered by us. We have managed to build a fine brand name as a result of word of mouth and have accomplished a wide reach of customers through online as well as offline marketing & retailing. We focus on bridging the gap in this wide untapped men’s market by providing products of quality and excellence with a hint of innovation. We believe in loyal and long term customers. What is next: We plan to widen our reach in India through offline and online media and print campaigns. Exploiting our expertise and knowledge of fashion by working alongside with magazines is another form of media we are looking into. We are working on “Store in store” concept and also widening our base by putting our products on certain websites and on intracity delivery mobile app companies.” Find them on: Website: http://raydale.in/ FACEBOOK- https://www.facebook.com/raydaleshirts INSTAGRAM- the_raydale_man,

DISHA DOSHI GANDHI “My initial plan wasn’t so extreme. Only after graduating in commerce I realized that I was interested in clothing. I studied part-time fashion foundation at N.I.F.T, Mumbai along with B.com, after which I went to London for a Fashion Degree. It was a great learning process to intern with some renowned designers in the industry. After working for several years, I knew I wanted to start my own line. Having your own label is not just about being the best designer. It is serious business. It is an expensive proposition. Along with knowledge and love for art and design you need to have the right connections and luck, of course. I decided to start my own label when I was super confident about facing the challenges and the obstacles that it gets in its way. The response has been better than what I expected honestly. We are so overwhelmed. It just pushes us to work harder on producing better garments with a cleaner finish. Color and cuts are my forte. Garments are finely tailored and minute attention is given on the detailing of every silhouette. What’s next : Since we have launched very recently, we have a lot of things to tick off our bucket list. Our online shopping should be active soon. Showcase at fashion weeks, sell at stores both domestic and international. Working hard on opening our door to many great opportunities.” says Disha Find them on: Website: www.dishadoshigandhi.com Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/ dishadoshigandhilabel/ Instagram Page: dishadoshigandhi 54 APRIL, 2016 - TULIP

CARD AFFAIR- By Saman & Sanchi A Literary Affair- “We had a lot of ideas but for some reason or other we weren’t able to work on them. One fine day we decided to put our minds over matter, and ‘Card Affairs’ was established on a very excited note in 2014. The whole concept is based on bringing back the era of handwritten Greeting Cards. We obviously love our smart phones with a convenient option to type and likewise copy paste our feelings! Oh and let’s not forget the screenshot games. Card Affairs is all about taking that tiny effort to write and shower our loved ones with special, funny, smart, wicked affectionate messages. From crazy awkward one liner’s to long emotional expressions, we help you present your loved ones the brightest smiles, loudest laughter’s and treat to the eye visuals. We are best friends with a very clichéd story. With Graduation in Mass Media, post-graduation in M.com, and work experience in the field has helped us shape our creative heads to work towards our dream. We make sure every story is told beautifully, every memory is printed lovingly and every impression is sought to last a lifetime. BHANUMATI KA PITARA By Ridhie Vinayak

“I was always intrigued by the idea of creating something new and customised. I designed my own night suits and one day randomly thought why not make night suits to sell. It is fairly enough to be happy but when people get happy with your designs, it is an amazing feeling. I made a few pieces initially and then when there was a demand I actually began to create more designs and got serious and made it official. I just started...Like there was no sense of business or inspiration in design. It was just something I loved.. Thankfully the response has been amazing so far. When I began working on my brand ‘Bhanumati Ka Pitara’ I had no clue I would make these beautiful customised variety of nightsuits. But I did my market research and developed the idea that there is a need for customised nightwear as people love to wear what they are. What makes it different from the respective other brands are the lovely prints and the structure of the brand, also our main attraction are the buttons. Online shopping was not such a great idea for me as I believe shopping is an experience that you need to enjoy thoroughly by touching and feeling the products but I realised it to be an important medium when I myself got busy and started buying stuff online to save time.. I soon gained my confidence in it and now I am a happy online shopper.. What’s next: umm I don’t really have a plan but I think i will go with the flow. Have a few exhibitions lined up, a few collaborations too. Would love to take Bhanumati across. Also I don’t believe in plans like 5 year plans. I just feel I will make these night suits that people love and I hope they keep loving them and I wish to have a dreamy little store for my brand soon”. Find them on: instagarm: Bhanumati_ka_pitara

CONSTRUCTING IDEAS “I am a Jewellery Designer by profession working with a leading export house and I have always been on the creative side and would make small packages for family and friends pretty often. I was pushed by my family to take this up professionally. So, I took to online sales because of the broader reach that it offers and the visibility of the product that the customer receive. Using only Instagram & Twitter for marketing our products, we started this page in early December 2015 and because of the reach of Social Media, we have customers in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Calcutta, Chennai, Bangalore and Haryana already! The responses have been overwhelming! We at Constructing Ideas, speak to every customer personally be it on call, direct messages or whatsapp to discuss their requirements and customise the products exactly how they would be able to relate to it. The whole idea is to give a gift that the opposite person would appreciate and where love is felt! There used to be 6 Degrees of Separation at one point, but thanks to Social Media we get what we want in just ONE phone call or text message! It is so easy to shop online, especially via Instagram. Just one message, followed by an online fund transfer and ta-da! What’s next: We plan to focus on Events like baby birthdays, baby showers, mehendi’s etc. We have also done personalised giveaways for weddings/birth announcements which brings us closer to what we love – Seeing happy faces! When Passionturns Into profession Arpita Patel is very ambitious, hardworking & sincere at what she does. She is always enthusiastic about taking up new challenges in life; be it work or personal life, living each moment with a smile on her face and passion in her heart. If you know her, you will know she is the most friendly and wonderful person to be around, who is always charged up. We talk to her about her passion, her photography and much more. Did you go to the photography school? I have neither been to a photography school, nor did I get any professional training. It’s about practice; I believe. How did your passion turn into profession- tell us your story! Passion for clicking is the chief driving force behind my choice of profession. It all started when I was in 11th Grade. My obsession for clicking self-portraits led me to capture hundreds of pictures in my dad’s phone, which often took up all the space in his phone. Because of this reason, he once got annoyed and said to me“I shall delete all your images and will never buy you a camera for sure”. This statement made me even more stubborn and I promised myself to never give up and try even harder. Having little or no knowledge about using a camera, I turned to YouTube and spent nights watching videos about the same. And in the following days, I convinced my parents to get a new camera and started clicking. I showcased my work using Social networking sites and received immense appreciation from people which provided me with much needed encouragement. What sort of work do you specialize in? Photography is an ocean. There is so much to learn and so much to do. I would say, I am good at clicking wedding moments as I get connected with people well & it’s all about the moment and expression and sharing feelings. How long have you been in relationship with your camera? It’s been four years now and surely many more years to come. One Photographer you would love to work/assist/collaborate with and why? RichaKashelkar:She is my inspiration. I have been seeing her work since the day I got my camera. She is simply amazing. It’s my dream to work with her and learn from her and I am sure one day I will. Who or what inspires you the most? It’s my Mother - Ramila Patel. Your favorite camera/lens you like to shoot with? “There is no love sincerer than the love of food,” George Bernard Shaw said. Judging by the number of amazing dishes out there, he was right. Some foods you eat to stay alive, others you eat because, if you choose not to, it be a crime. Here are those foods worth travelling the world to gorge on. So, broaden your culinary horizon, feast your eyes and control your drooling as we reveal to you the world’s best foods.

Massaman curry, Thailand

Emphatically, the king of curries and perhaps the king of all foods. Spicy, cocnutty, sweet and savory, Massamans combination of flavors has more personality than a Thai election. Thankfully, someone invented rice with which diners can mop up the last drizzle of this curry sauce. Tastes best with: Rice and Naan

Neopolitian Pizza, Italy

Let’s face it, everyone loves Italian food. The best pizza was and still is the Neopolitan, that insists on sea salt, high grade wheat flour, the use of only three types of tomatoes and the strict use of a wood fired oven, among other quality stipulations. The Neopolitians created a food that a few can make properly but everyone enjoys thoroughly. Tastes best with: Absolutely every sauce

Sushi, Japan:

When Japan wants to create something right, it creates it really right. Whether it’s Toyota, Sony or raw fish and rice Sushi, the Japanese products make it to almost the top of the list. The fish and rice in Sushi is put together so beautifully that it makes this a global first date favorite. Tastes best with: Pickled ginger and Soya sauce

Hamburger, Germany

When something tastes so good that people spend US $20 billion each year in a single restaurant chain devoted to it, you know it has to fit into this list. The bread-meat-salad combination is so good that countries have ravaged their eco systems to produce more cows. Tastes best with: Barbecue sauce

Rendang, Indonesia

Beef is slowly simmered with coconut, milk and a mixture of lemongrass, galangal, garlic, turmeric, ginger and chilies and is let to stew for a few hours to create this dish of tender, flavorful bovine goodness. Tasting it fresh out of kitchen will tend your stomach into an overdrive. Tastes best with: Steamed lemon rice

Chelo Kebab, Iran

Chelo kebab is the national dish of Iran. The meal consists of steamed saffron rice and hot kebabs accompanies by grilled tomatoes and butter. Pick your meat, shove a stick through it and grill. Then wonder why you don’t eat like this every day. Tastes best with: Naan and Mint chutney

Chicken Parm, Australia

Melted Parmesan and mozzarella cheese and a peppery-garlicky tomato sauce drizzled over the top of a chicken fillet; Aussie pub-goers claim this Italian dish as their own. Since they make it so well, there’s no point arguing. Tastes best with: Sphagetti

TRAVEL

Goicuon, Vietnam

This summer roll is made from pork, shrimp, rice, herbs and other ingredients wrapped in rice paper. Its “meat-light” with the flavors of refreshing herbs erupting in your mouth. Its wholesome, easy and the very definition of ‘more-ish’. Tastes best with: Vermicelli Noodles

Chilli Crab, Singapore

You can’t visit Singapore without trying its spicy, sloppy, meaty specialty. While there are a dozen of ways to prepare crab, chilli crab remains the local bestseller. Spicy chilli-tomato gravy tends to splatter, which is why you need to mop everything up with buns. Tastes best with: Baked cheese and Mantou buns

Masala Dosa, India

A crispy, rice batter crepe encase a spicy mix of mashed potato, which is then dipped in coconut chutney, pickles, tomato-lentil sauces and other condiments. It is a fantastic breakfast food that will help you going till lunch, when you’ll probably come back for another. Tastes best with: Coconut chutney and tangy Sambhar

I’m sure some of you are left reeling about why French fries didn’t make it to the list but hey! We should give a chance to other foods to prove themselves, shouldn’t we? TULIP - APRIL, 2016 61

MOVIES Movie Reviews

KAPOOR AND SONS CAST: Fawad Khan, Sidharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt, Rishi Kapoor, Ratna Pathak Shah, Rajat Kapoor DIRECTOR: Shakun Batra ‘Kapoor & Sons’ seems to have taken to heart that famous Tolstoy line: “all happy families are alike, each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way”, in the way it chooses a specific kind of unhappiness for each member of the Kapoor family. The fact that Bollywood is now confident enough to give us a family which is not bursting with joy is a thing to be lauded. Director Shakun Batra keeps it all on a tight leash and skillfully mines the multiple conflict points as much for the humour inherent in them as for the dramatic frisson that they generate. On the acting front, Fawad Khan steals the show with an impressively modulated, confident performance as an achiever condemned to perpetually carry the burden of expectation and hide his true self behind a wall of falsehoods. Siddharth Malhotra pales a touch in comparison because his character is less layered. Alia Bhatt lends the free-spirited and fun-loving Tia impressive malleability. Rajat Kapoor and Ratna Pathak are in fine fettle as the jaded man and wife who have drifted apart irretrievably. Rishi Kapoor, notwithstanding the overdone prosthetic makeup, is perfect in the guise of the full-blooded nonagenarian that nothing can stop. Kapoor And Sons is a winner all the way. MEMU CAST: Surya, Amala Paul, Bindhu Madhavi, Karthik Kumar DIRECTOR: Pandiraj Memu is a movie which is basically a Telugu Children’s film. The movie is directed by Pandiraj who had earlier directed and released the same movie in the Tamil Film industry. The male lead character in the movie is played by actor Suriya while Amala Paul is sharing screen space with him. The story of Memu revolves around children Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Memu is a movie that uses simple storytelling and has innocence. Not many movies these days for kids, hence this movie comes at the right time and is quite informative as well. Surya said, “Our regular audience is between the age of 18-30. Children rarely come to theatre nowadays. I don’t understand why we don’t have enough children’s films and don’t know who needs to be blamed for this.” He added, “This movie required me to get out of my comfort zone with the interesting role, hence it intrigued me. Also working with children, you have to be more imaginative. This gave me a kick to do the movie”. A must watch for anyone who is looking for something new and fresh. EYE IN THE SKY CAST: Helen Mirren, Alan Rickman, Aaron Paul, Barkhad Abdi, Iain Glen, Phoebe Fox, Jeremy Northam DIRECTOR: Gavin Hood Welcome to the scary new frontier of remote-controlled warfare by drone-or unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) as the military types call them. So we have Helen Mirren, as Colonel Katherine Powell, reporting for work in London at the Permanent Joint HQ – which is a real place. The British use it to control their joint foreign operations. At Creech airbase in Nevada, US pilot Steve Watts (Aaron Paul) clocks on for the evening shift inside an air-conditioned box, rather than a cockpit. He will fly a drone in a joint British-US operation in Nairobi. A third person in Hawaii identifies targets using facial recognition. Back in London, Lt-Gen Frank Benson (Alan Rickman, in one of his last roles) goes from buying a birthday gift for his daughter to the Cabinet Office, where he will guide a room full of politicians through the Nairobi operation in real time, in front of a bank of screens. The film is about what happens when little Alia (Aisha Takow), a nine-year-old bread seller, walks into the middle of the “kill zone”. Eye in the Sky is about a terrifying concept. In the hands of gifted South African director Gavin Hood (Tsotsi, Rendition, Ender’s Game) the film is a smart, graphic and disturbing thriller, with a clear eye for the fault lines of modern warfare. Mirren is steely and conniving, as she often is (maybe too often). Rickman is dry and wry, playing against type with the aplomb and confidence that were his trademark. He will be sorely missed.

ENTERTAINMENT Kangana Ranaut turns down Homi Adajania’s next film Actress Kangana Ranaut, who has been approached by filmmaker Homi Adajania for his next directorial venture, has apparently refused to do that film because of date issues. “Homi has narrated (the script) to Kangana and she is keen to work with him, but she is already committed to Hansal Mehta’s film after ‘Rangoon’ and the dates are clashing. But they have promised to work with each other in the future,” a source close to Kangana told. Adajania has reportedly finished writing the script for his next directorial venture, which has a very unique pairing. The director, who has already signed Sushant Singh Rajput and Irrfan for the film, was keen to cast Kangana in a prominent role. Kangana, who has almost wrapped up the shooting of Vishal Bharadwaj’s “Rangoon”, will start shooting for Mehta’s next in some time.

Amy Schumer Leaves a $1,000 tip for a Few lucky Bartenders

Talk about the ultimate surprise! When Amy Schumer and boyfriend Ben Hanisch decided to see Hamilton on Broadway Saturday night, many fans would assume they simply wanted to savour an amazing show. But while enjoying a date night with a few mutual friends, Amy decided to surprise a few lucky bartenders with one generous donation. According to employee Madeleine DeJohn, the comedian ordered a few drinks for her group. But along the way, she also left quite the tip to a grateful staff. “Our house manager gave us her order before the show and we filled it,” Madeleine said. “Then at intermission, a member of her party came to the bar with another order and when he handed the receipt to my co-worker, he said ‘Amy wants to make sure you get this.’ My co-worker looked at it and didn’t know what to say.” She added, “We’ve served a lot of celebrities at Hamilton and we’ve received some nice tips but never before had I seen a tip that even came close to this one.” The date night comes after Amy and Ben recently enjoyed a tropical vacation with a few famous friends.

Athiya Shetty on being Bollywood’s fashionista: It is strange, surreal She is just one film old, but is already making waves in the tinsel town for her acting skills as well as fashion and style quotient. Actress Athiya Shetty says the tag of Bollywood’s fashionista comes with a “strange and surreal feeling”. When asked about how it feels to be known as one of the fashionable actresses from the younger brigade, she said: “It has always been a strange and surreal feeling because I have never made an effort to try and be that person.” “I think I have to obviously thank my stylist (Ami Patel), who has most importantly given me my personality through my dressing and I think that is what is really important.” Sharing her fashion fundas, Athiya said the key to being stylish is to be comfortable with “whatever you are wearing”. “You have to be yourself, you have to be comfortable in your own skin and in your body type and kind of own whatever you are wearing no matter what it is,” she added. On the filmy front, the actress says she will make an announcement about her projects soon.

Ben Affleck Praises “Super Hero” Mom Jennifer Garner: “I’m Really Lucky to have her”

Superheroes are great, but can they compete against the supermoms? As anticipation builds for the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Ben Affleck and the cast hit the red carpet for the film’s New York City premiere. While there was plenty of talk about the highly-anticipated flick, Ben couldn’t help but gush about Jennifer Garner who has a few admirable skills of her own. “You know, I just marvel at my mother who did a great job of raising my brother and I. Parenting is hard work but it’s so rewarding and I certainly do my best,” he shared. “Jen is a superhero mom. She is an amazing mother and I’m really lucky to have her as a partner to co-parent these kids with. We try our best, we put them first and that’s what we do.” The Hollywood pair has three kids together including Samuel, Violet and Seraphina. When asked if his four-year-old son will see dad as Batman, Ben had his apprehensions. “Well, he can see some of it. I don’t know… It just depends. Every kid is different,” he explained. “Like I don’t know if he would be scared seeing me, like if he would think it was really me getting thrown around and crashed and hurt. I don’t know if he could know the difference. So, we’ll see. I’ll warm him up.”

Surya to play Mahesh Babu’s Villain

ENTERTAINMENT

Superstar Mahesh Babu who is presently busy wrapping up the family entertainer Brahmotsavam will make his entry into Kollywood with a new bilingual film to be directed by AR Murugadoss. Buzz is that, Tamil director SJ Suriya has been approached to play baddie in the film. SJ Surya is well-known to Telugu spectators with the films like Jodi, Kushi, Nani and Puli. He mostly plays at least cameo roles in all his films and was seen essaying crucial roles in other directors films too. Surya will next be seen as antagonist in Pizza fame Karthik Subbaraj directing Iraivi starring Vijay Sethupathi in lead role. Surya was lauded for his acting abilities in his previous films. So, he is definitely a big add-on for Mahesh Babu’s film, if the news is true. On the flip side, Surya is speculated to direct Power Star Pawan Kalyan’s next film Kushi 2 to be produced by AM Ratnam. Coming to Mahesh-Murugadoss film, it is expected to go on floors from June or July. The makers are in talks with Sai Pallavi, Keerthy Suresh and Parineeti Chopra for the female lead. More details about the high budget entertainer will be unveiled soon.

It’s Not a Remake, It’s an Adaptation

Actor Karthi has quipped that his co-star Tamanna ragged him on the sets of Oopiri. Calling her as ‘senior’, Karthi shared how she treated him on location, albeit jocularly. While Tamanna started her career with Telugu, Karthi is new entrant considering that Oopiri is his firstever straight Telugu movie despite that many of his Tamil films were dubbed into Telugu. Talking about the film, Karthi said, “I’m glad I got opportunity to do a straight Telugu film with Oopiri. Few films bring commercial success, few bring mass image but very few films bring respect to actors. Oopiri is such film that gets respect to all of us.” Giving a peep into the film, Karthi shared that 50-odd scenes in the film are new different from the original The Intouchables. “It’s better to say it as an adaptation rather than calling a remake. There’re 50-odd new scenes and the treatment, dialogues are fresh. So, it’s not a remake. The film is adapted well to suit the tastes of regional audiences and director Vamshi did a great job.” Saying that Nagarjuna has treated him as his own brother, Karthi said, “Though he kept calling me brother, he treated me like a king. Whenever I’m in Annapurna Studios, I got royal treatment. I feel at home.

TULIP - APRIL, 2016 77

TAROT

Look into my eyes.. You will see..

Yes “The eyes are the window to the soul.” I couldn’t agree more. Everything that we feel, we speak and we perceive are reflected in our eyes. Dating Shating interesting topics haan!! Let’s see how your eyes..voice your heart...!!

DARK BROWN/BLACK If you are dating somebody with black or dark brown eyes, these are few things you need to know about them before you go out on your romantic dinner night. People with dark brown or black eyes are natural leaders and they are perceived that way. So, be assured, they are going to take the charge. They are very optimistic in nature. So, you may look forward to a happy-go-lucky date this time. They have darker eyes and this means, they have more melanin in their system. So, they tend to drink less. You may save on your wine. They are very secretive in nature, make sure you are not peeping into their mobile phones because the bond has to be really proper before you break it. Do not shoot a lot of questions and do not be over excited and try to answer everything in a go. They are practical in nature, so, all your gifts are small tricks, they will not lead you enough. These people are more guarded. Every trick that I tell you, will grab all the attention from them, but then, to fall in love will take some time. They have a bit of trust issues, so, make sure you are honest and trustworthy in the relationship. And if its building, make sure you bring all your scented candles because this love is going all passionate.

LIGHT & MEDIUM BROWN These people are very fun loving and caring. Like the color brown, they are not attached too much to the earthly possessions. So, no big gift required this time. All you need is a red rose and they will be head over heels for you. They are very determined in nature. All you may expect from them is a long term relationship. They will turn into amazing partners, so, you may look for a lifetime relationship here. They are more attached to their parents and care more about relationships in life. Make sure you do not hurt them in any way. One brownie point for the brown eyes, they are not very expressive - it is difficult for them to come up with their emotions. Make sure, you are not waiting until they pore their heart out.

GREY Now, we are ready to talk to somebody with grey eyes. If you are dating someone like this, you will be happy to know that, they appear to be very strong but actually they are very gentle and wise. They are very professional, whether it is love, work or anything. They take things very seriously. So, here you may bet upon a relationship which is going to be serious. Well! I say, serious, but not boring guys‌not like 50 shades of grey but yeah 50 shades of love I guess. They are well balanced people, but they are two faced - They change as per their convenience and are different with different people.

BLUE Blue eyes..Yes we are on blue eyes now. If you are dating someone with blue eyes, these are few things you need to know. You might feel they are shy or they are egoistic, but they are neither of the two. They are very simple, kind and smart people. They are very fun loving and polite in nature. If you plan a date with them, let it not be a typical one as it would turn out to be a boring one. Instead, go on a long drive, open a Champagne bottle full of bubbles and you will cheer up the date in a jiffy. They are cautious in nature and they are not very expressive but yes, they tend to stick to a relationship for a long long time. So, here if you are dating someone like this with blue eyes, you can be assured that you may take your relationship to the next level.

GREEN Now, we are going to look into the deepness, yes I am talking about green eyes. A mixture of blue and brown, they are quite strong but they are cautious at the same time. Its like a mix of beauty with brains. They are very intelligent, so, yes they can help you solve all your excel sheets. They are quite jealous in nature. So, make sure that when you date someone with green eyes, you do not look around the corners - be it, a hot chick or a sex bang guy, make sure you don’t check him/her out at all.
