STUDIO I gesture.charcoal Gesture drawings help explore a form showing either a stagnant stance or movement whether its a slow or fast paced action seen through the charcoal stroke.

Further modeling exploration shows the fluidity of movement.

STUDIO I perspective Perspective drawings are driven by what one sees not by what one thinks they see or wants to see. Depth shows the viewer what are farther away and which are closer as seen through the recreation of a three dimensional image from a two dimensional medium.

STUDIO I tonal.charcoals The study of the light phenomenon through the use of charcoal and the amount of pressure applied created different types of shades and shadows.

Visual depth through tonal values created a three dimensional image as we better understood how materials affected the light reflection through space.

STUDIO I charcoal.texture The study of different textures with characteristics ranging from coarse, bumpy, and even smooth influenced the wood texture design. Varying tonal depth was also incorporated into the wood design as seen through different angles created from varying heights of the texture.

STUDIO I orthographic.axon The project started by creating a simple model from screws and string from varying heights and thicknesses to understand line weights. The use of different line weights then helped demonstrate what aspect of the model was closer depending on the elevation seen.

Further study of a physical common object as a cassette recorder shows how one drawing can lead to the another through construction lines. This module helped execute architectural drawings through precision and discipline of craft and rules.

DECOM I holy.ghost.chapel The Holy Ghost Chapel was built in 2016 located in Managua, Nicaragua with Donal Ricci as the architect. The colors ochre, red wine, purple, and white each correspond to symbols related to the Holy Spirit. All the details create an effect of peace and tranquility providing a spiritual refugee for visitors. an interesting phenomenon is the natural lighting achieved through the skylights and the ceiling being curved. Criteria which was applied to the design was rhythm, contrast, asymmetry, and equilibrium.

DECOM I holy.ghost.chapel Through the use of rhino the recreation of the precedent was started by tracing the walls and making them into planar surfaces. To execute the curvature of the roof the curve was extruded. With the use of artificial light and post processing in Photoshop the renders came to life.

STUDIO II joinery Following the pattern and shape within it new rules were implemented to construct a 3D model. The wood study model explored the dowel joint which allowed for mobility of the shapes to contract and expand. Further exploration of joinery allowed for the final model to be constructed without the cubes as support to keep them joined.

STUDIO II joinery The axon and the images to the right show the two joints implemented to join the triangular wood pieces. The dowel as well as the sliding joint allow for the model to be able to expand and grow in the xyz plane.

STUDIO II case.study Thorncrown Chapel was designed by Euine Fay Jones as a glass and wooden structure surrounded by Arkansas’ Ozark Mountains.. The vertical chapel is like a forest within a forest with its repeated column and truss structure. Through the analysis of the chapel one can view the only visible steel in the project which is the diamond-shaped patterns centered in each truss.

Analysis of the structure helped study aspects that can further help understand the construction of the project.

STUDIO II case.study The analysis also aided the execution of the orthographic and paraline drawings by having a clear understanding of what was structural, spatial, and what was repeated throughout the length of the structure.

STUDIO III the.oculus Client: Sonita Narain Site: 1059 Mcmillan ST NW Atl, GA 30318 Any site is occupied by multiple beings and they all have different perspectives therefore a site can be interpreted in many ways, so by prioritizing the visual perceptions of multiple species a design can be created to afford equal engagement for all visually.

Narain hopes to bring forth a coexistence with local communities within the city of Atlanta and its variation of species and one way to approach it is with her home.

DECOM II texture.to.topo This project helped better understand how the adobe programs Photoshop and illustrator can be utilized and explored to turn something as simple as a texture into a topographic model. With the use of Photoshop the desired section of the texture was manipulated to black and white.

The brightness and contrast fixed to range from a tonal depth of white to black. Eight layers of gray scale shades were then extruded individually which were then exported into illustrator to trace and create vectors.

They were then exported into AutoCAD to laser cut the final model.

DECOM II case.study House on an Island built by Atelier Oslo is located on the south coast of Norway. The entrance is situated on the backside and transitions one for the life on the island as it goes through the whole island.

The use of revit to construct the virtual model helped execute and emphasis annotations, details, and how to represent the precedent.

The house featuring a gridded facade intending to create a calming atmsophere wa signed by Atelier Oslo for a pair of artists who wanted a place to retreat. Located in Norway the intention behind the design was to recreate the feeling of being under a the rays of sun envelope one. Through the exploration of certain features of the ho realationship between the materiality of the house and the site, how the modularity the experiences within the space, and how the interior is interconnect with the inter come comprehensible.

STUDIO IV fusion A fusion delicacy between the Mexican and Madagascar cuisine located at the intersection of whitlock avenue and the Marietta loop next to the Marietta Square. The fusion between these cuisines comes from the clarity within their dishes from which becomes integrated into the transparent structure of the restaurant. Clarity from which is seen through the staples used within both regions including rice, herbs, beans, and vegetables such as avocados and tomatoes.

This family style restaurant not only allows the guest to view the best of both cuisines, but also allows the guest to view the best views around the site with its multi-leveled floors providing the best scenery on site.

STUDIO IV precedent Mexican Restaurant Masaryk Cuidad de Mexico, Mexico The variety of seating at the guests disposal allows for any group size to enjoy and feel at home. Additionally, even though the restaurant is side by side with other existing buildings it allowed for the whole front facade to allows guests to see the exterior. Therefore, for the fusion restaurant a multi-perspective view would allows the guest to feel apart of the exterior without being outside essentially. The color palette used was also used as inspiration to use cold elements and make them warm with the use of lighting and other materials such as rustic metal panels.

STUDIO IV precedent The Anthony Timberlands Center at the University of Arkansas Repetitive irregular shapes as planes and masses bringing together a unique experience.
