Welcome to the 2nd Annual HS Angus Bull Sale. We feel confident saying that this is the strongest and most consistent pen of bulls to date. You will notice this consistency as you work through the catalogue, as such we decided to keep the description of the bulls brief rather than constantly repeat ourselves. We instead chose to focus on what you can’t see, the hard working group of cows that make this offering a reality.

We are very proud of the herd we have assembled and continue to build. They are no nonsense, no fuss cattle that go about their job year after year and are a pleasure to be around. Our goal is to produce predictable, functional cattle that can survive the test in the toughest and most demanding commercial programs. Our cattle are bred and fed with productivity and longevity in mind. Our bulls are fed to be lean, full of red meat and ready to go to work NOT to be the heaviest yearling weight bulls in the country and lay by the water all summer. Our cows make do with whatever feed is available and most affordable.

We would once again like to extend a huge thank you to all of our customers and to all those who have expressed interest in our program. Your continued confidence and support is an honour and we are truly grateful to have the opportunity to work with you. Our open house will be March 11 and 12th this year. However the coffee is always on and we would be happy to tour the bulls and the cow herd at any time. If for any reason you can’t make it to see cattle feel free to call and discuss the offering. We are CATTLE PEOPLE NOT USED CAR SALESMEN: we would rather not sell an animal than sell it to the wrong home and as such will do everything in our power to represent our animals as accurately and impartially as possible. We stand behind our animals 100% so you can bid with confidence. We look forward to seeing and hearing from you as the sale approaches and throughout the year.

Henry,

FROM THE DESK OF JACK AUCTION GROUP HOW HIGH CAN WE GO…

The cattle market is heading for uncharted territory - price wise, and how high will we go, only time will tell. One thing I can tell you is Black Hided, Long Bodied, Good Haired Cattle, will sell as good as anything or be the high sellers at any of the big calf sales in North America. The demand for good bodied blacks is everywhere. Just because they’re black though doesn’t mean they’re top cut, and many markets use black as an adjective on how to describe the cattle. Well, lumping all the black’s into one pen isn’t good enough for me, there is a big difference, the good ones have to be the kind that will go on and perform, get to a nice finished weight, and be able to take some higher octane feed in Ontario and Quebec if they’re going to bring the big money as a feeder. The little round headed, slick haired, short bodied ones, aren’t what anyone is looking for, and unfortunately there is getting to be a big section of those kind in the industry. The HS Angus bulls are what the industry needs, cattle with some frame, and substance, that will stand up with the best calves in the fall and fetch you the biggest price. Not to mention, a bigger calf will always net you more dollars. You’ll find a really nice set of performance bulls in the pen, that will add pounds to your calves, and a nice section of very nice calving ease bulls that will allow you to sleep at night and still sell a calf that is going to bring the big money! I encourage you to go out and look at the bulls, and pick what is needed in your program to make your cattle better! Henry is a great cattleman and knows what it takes to raise good ones. You’ll see it in his cattle, and you’ll see it in your calf crop with an HS Angus Bull running with your cows! If Richard or I can help you make your selection, or if you have any questions feel free to give us a call.
