Welcome to our 1st annual bull and female sale. November of 2022 will mark a decade of purebred angus cows at HS Angus. To our loyal cutomers, a sincere thank you. Your confidence and support is what has allowed us to build to where we are today. To the producers who are new to our program, thank you for your interest. We have always been firm believers that the backbone of the angus industry is maternal excellence and as a result feel that every bull in the sale should produce fertile, productive and long lasting daughters. All of our herd bulls are backed by highly proven dams from cow families that are the backbone of their respective herds. You will notice many of the cattle in the sale trace back to the same cows, this is by design. Our cow herd is culled ruthlessly on a number of factors, with only the best of the best remaining in purebred production. We welcome everyone to our open house March 12 and 13, however coffee is always on and you are welcome to tour the bulls at any time. If you are unable to tour the bulls in person, feel free to contact us to discuss the offering. We stand behind our animals 100%, so you can bid with confidence, as Henry always says “if you are happy with your purchase, tell everyone. If you are not, tell me!”

THE YEAR OF THE TIGER or THE YEAR OF THE COW-CALF PRODUCER? 2022 might be the Year of the Tiger, but, I think 2022 is going to be the Year of the Cow-Calf Producer! Buckle your seat belts for a wild ride of high dollar cattle in the coming months, this market is looking to blast off to Mars faster then Elon Musk can build the city. Will we see $3.00 600-pound steers in April? 1,000-pound steers off grass at $2.20? It could be very possible, and I hope it continues for the decades to come. Regardless of how high this thing gets, High Quality Cattle always bring a premium, in the last decade I have sold the same 600-pound Steers for $0.94/pound and $3.12/pound, no joke! One thing has stayed the same, the good cattle, with Frame, Hair, and Quality, are always at the top of the market, whatever the final number is. The cattle at HS are High Quality, Rapid Growing, Good Framed Cattle that will fit into any program, regardless if your cows are Black, Red, White, Tan, or Purple, the calves will sell extremely well that come out of the females, or that are sired by their bulls! This maybe their first official sale, but, the Stewart’s have been in the Angus business for quite some time, and they have really done a fabulous job selecting for quality genetics, fertility, longevity, vigor, growth, and eye appeal. Will there be a $50,000 bull come out of this sale? Absolutely not, but, it sure doesn’t mean there won’t be one in the coming years, the cattle are that good! How does a Virtual Sale Work?

The Cattle will sell from HS Angus off the Photos and Video supplied, and you get to bid from the comfort of your home or office, enjoying your favorite beverage of choice, Hot or Cold. There will be pre-bidding which opens 10 days prior to the sale, and a Live Auction portion where each lot will be auctioned off.

How do we Bid?

1. Head to www.JackAuctionGroup.com and Click UPCOMING SALES, scroll to the HS ANGUS SALE, and click REGISTER 2. Create an Account with exactly how you’d like your invoice to read, and accept the terms and conditions. If at ANY TIME you have any issues just call the office at 306-641-9285, and we will gladly help you, but, it really is Very Easy. ALL BUYERS MUST REGISTER FOR AN ACCOUNT BY 5:00 P.M. LOCAL TIME, THE DAY OF THE SALE. 3. Once your account is created, you will receive a message Welcoming you to the Sale, and you’re now approved to Bid. 4. The Bidding will be open 10 days prior to the sale, so feel free to place bids, on the cattle at any time, or wait till the Live portion of the sale starts, just understand once you have placed a bid at any time, you cannot retract it. Your screen will turn GREEN when you’re Winning the Bid on a Lot, and will turn RED when you have been Out-Bid.

Should I Watch the Sale?

You bet, we encourage everyone to tune in at Sale Time and watch the auction action unfold, each lot will start at the current bid established during pre-bidding, and up we go from there.

A Man amongst boys in the pen! 1J is smooth, attractive, hairy, and super long spined. If DAM OF 1J you are looking to add some serious pounds in an Angus package, this is your bull! His dam was the talk of our string at Showdown as a heifer calf, and has turned into a productive young cow. Her “G” calf was the first bull picked in the 2020 pen, and her second calf is a personal favorite in the bred heifer pen. With the Northern Girl cow family on both sides of his pedigree, maternal power is a sure thing.

A Northern Man calving ease son, out of a front pasture type cow. 17J stands on an excellent set of feet and legs. He is a clean fronted, moderate, smooth made individual that still has plenty of muscle and shape. This super hairy and eye appealing bull has already made some friends and is sure to be a favorite by sale day. A maternal sister to 17J was retained for breeding.

MATERNAL BROTHER TO 37J A smaller framed calving ease bull that has looked like a bull from a young age. 37J will sire steer calves with desirable shape and thickness, and heifers that grow into moderate, broody, easy fleshing cows with great udders. His dam was as quiet as it gets and has passed her super disposition on to this guy. Like all the Northern Man calves, 37J stands on excellent feet and legs. A maternal brother 23H was a feature in last year’s pen and one of the most complete bulls we have raised.

DAM TO 35J 35J is one of the younger bulls in the sale, but he has kept right up. He is one of the more stylish bulls in the pen and has tremendous length of spine. This bull will sire the kind of females that make your neighbors jealous. His dam’s pedigree includes TC Freedom 104 and LRT, two of the breed’s best female makers, and it’s easy to see as she is the best uddered cow on the farm. 17Z has two bulls in the sale, two sons in commercial herds, and a daughter sold to Glasman Farms. She also has three daughters in the herd, one of which raised our feature heifer 7J.

A long spined smooth made two year old. 35H is a bull that many people liked as a yearling, but due to some of the other bulls not passing semen test until later in the year we made the choice to hold him back. A good footed, sound made performance bull with extra age to cover a large group of cows. His maternal sister 16J sells as lot 15. 35H will be trich and vib tested.

This bull was the youngest in the pen last year, so he didn’t get offered for sale. He is deep, thick made, and masculine with a real herd bull presence. With this being our inaugural sale we dug deep into the heifer pen and decided to offer what has been Henry’s favorite heifer since day 1. She is deep ribbed, big hipped and hairy with good extension through her front third. 7J has a “look at me” presence that makes her very easy to find. Her dam has produced a daughter retained in the herd and 2 sale bulls including 24H who holds the onfarm record for WW and YW actual. 7J’s grand dam 17Z has 2 bulls in the sale (35J and 40H) and is still going strong with her this year’s calf, 1K, looking like a safe bet for next year’s sale. The udder quality and consistency of this cow family as well as the consistency of this Wyoming x Baloo cross should go a long way in taking the guesswork out of this female. Bid with confidence!

These Wyoming heifers probably should have been a choice lot as they are both right from the top of the pen. This hairy, thick made heifer is one of the heaviest on the farm this year. 11J is backed by the first elite dam we have produced. The Josie cow family is easy to pick out for their impeccable udder quality, and broody easy doing appearance. This heifer is going to grow into the type of cow that you are proud to have in your pasture.

Terms & Conditions TERMS

Internet and US buyers will have two (2) business days to wire Canadian Funds to Jack Auction Group for all purchases. All settlements must be made with the sale clerks before cattle will be released. The right of property will not pass until final payment is made. UNLESS PREVIOUS ARRANGEMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE.

BIDDING

Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. Bidders unable to bid on-line, may phone their bids in to the listed representatives or sales manager.

DISPUTES

Bidding will reopen between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision is final.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Announcements made from the block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalog. Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to announcements.

BREEDER GUARANTEE

All bulls sell with the responsible breeders guarantee outlined by the Canadian Angus Association. Which means you are guaranteed a sound fertile bull capable of servicing a reasonable number of cows. HS Angus does not warranty physical injury or mismanagement. Bulls will be semen tested before the sale. Bulls selling as decision deferred have been deemed likely to pass by breeding time in consultation with our vet. Terms on decision deferred bulls are half at sale time and half after they pass semen test. In the event the bull does not pass, your deposit will be refunded or put towards another bull based on your preference.The seller will not, under any circumstances, be responsible for more than the original purchase price of any animal.

YARDAGE

All animals left at HS Angus, are left at the purchaser’s risk. HS Angus will provide the animals with reasonable care and attention, but assume no liability in the event of sickness, injury, or death. Yearling bulls can be kept free of charge at HS Angus until June 1st. We ask that arrangements be made on heifers and two year old bulls shortly after the sale.

DELIVERY

HS Angus offers free delivery on any animal within a 300km radius. Delivery can be arranged to further distances for no more than cost. Delivery will be done at the convenience of the seller as close to the requested.

INSURANCE

We strongly recommend that you insure your purchases. Any two year old staying at HS Angus for more than a week after the sale must be insured.

SALE MANAGER

Jack Auction Group is only acting as a medium between buyer and seller, and is not responsible for failure on the part of either party to live up to their obligations; or for the truth of any warranties or representations, expressed or implied. Any legal action taken in exceptional cases must be between the buyer and seller. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfillment of all guarantees and representations.

SEMEN

The consignors reserve the right to in-herd semen use on any bull sold in the sale, with the semen drawn at the consignor’s expense and the buyer’s convenience.
