BEGINS FEBRUARY 15, 2025
The old adage “the days are long, but the years are short” rings more true than ever as we write this year’s welcome message. When Eric and I first married, 2025 seemed so far away, but here we are, entering our tenth year registering cattle under the Dual E prefix. Perhaps because Eric has been a Red Angus breeder for many more years than just the past decade, or because cattle have always been a part of our life together, the 10-year anniversary almost came and went unnoticed. If I’m being honest, it’s because the start of this year’s calving season came on swiftly and has kept been keeping us on the move! If we had known back then what our herd would be now, I don’t think we’d have believed it, and seeing what ten years can do makes us all the more excited to see where the next ten will take us!
Cattle aside, 2024 saw us acquire a piece of family land that Eric learned to combine on many moons ago. The kids are excited to get to continue that tradition and have big plans of one day learning to bale hay on what was once their Gedo and greatGrandpa Yewsuk’s land. Both kids participated in 4-H; Boh with his beloved, “Chili” and Hallie with her calf, “Honey” out of Hallie’s 4F cow, chosen by Hallie at the age of two. Both kids did exceptionally well with their projects and are looking forward to this year’s with the Yellowhead 4-H Beef Club.
With the kids getting older, their interests are really taking shape. Boh continues to be the Chicken King of Wishart with his numerous laying hens and egg "business" (Mom and Dad look forward to the day when he takes over the feed bill). Hallie successfully twisted her dad’s arm in the spring, which resulted in two of her three cows being AI’d to Deer Valley Growth Fund. She’s now the proud owner of not one, but two black heifer calves. Why stop there? She’s on a mission to see a small flock of sheep join our midst. Next year’s message could be quite interesting if she’s successful…stay tuned!
None of this would be possible if it wasn’t for the support from our new and repeat buyers who trust us to raise the kind of cattle that will be an asset to the growth of their programs. We love seeing the Dual E hats being worn by our customers when we are out and about; it’s a subtle reminder of all we have to be grateful for. We invite you to be our guest ahead of the opening day - coffee will be on!

New in 2025, we have foregone with individual footnotes rather than repeating ourselves as our pen is typically quite uniform in the overall details of each animal. Here you will find a bit about our program including what you can expect to find in this year’s bull pen. On each bull's page throughout the catalog, you will find our calving ease recommendations.
The cow is everything. A herd without strong maternal lines won't be able to produce consistent progeny. Our cows are no-fuss. They are hardy, highly maternal, goodfooted, and tidy uddered. The kids are a part of everything we do so docility is of the utmost importance. Despite the fact that we are growing our herd, we are very strict in our culling process and won’t keep something just to keep the numbers. Our cow herd is generally moderate in size, 12-1400lbs, as we have found a moderate cow is the most productive cow.
This year's bull pen were all born in the first month of calving. Majority of their dams calved in the first week of the 2025 calving season - the result of our program focused on fertility.
Only the top cut of our crop of bull calves are retained annually to ensure that the traits we boast about in our cow herd are carried forward for our buyers.
You can expect our bulls to be:
- long bodied
- deep with ample spring of rib
- thick, square hipped
- athletic and well muscled
- dark cherry red
- standing on correct feet with ample heel
- easy moving
- even tempered and workable
We do not believe in pushing our bulls. They are developed at a moderate pace to promote longevity. The bull ration consists of alfalfa/grass hay, free-choice chelated mineral and a chelated protein pellet fed at 1.25% of body weight per day.
The bulls will receive their pre-breeding Ivomec and vaccination of Express FP 5 and Tasvax.

All bulls will be semen tested in mid-March and will not be delivered without having passed their semen evaluation. All animals are sold under the terms and guarantees set forth by the Canadian Angus Association.
All animals have been developed under a full herd health vaccination program as advised by a licensed vet.
We assume responsibility for the bulls until they have successfully passed semen evaluation, upon which point, we recommend you insure your purchase. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser's risk free of charge until May 1st, 2025.
A 25% deposit is required at the time of selection to secure the animal. The remaining balance will be due prior to delivery. In the event that the animal is not successful in passing a semen evaluation, the purchaser will have the option to select an alternate animal or receive a full refund of their deposit.
A certificate of registration will be transferred to the purchaser after full settlement has been made.
