Meet our President and Board of Directors Canadian Western Agribition Introduced New Board of Directors at Annual General Meeting

eed Andrew of Regina, SK was elected President of Agribition. Andrew has been a volunteer at the show for 35 years. He is a long time commercial cattle exhibitor and served for 7 years on the Board of Directors prior to being elected to the Executive Committee in 2007. While on the Board, Andrew served as Commercial Cattle Chair, Beef Chair, Trade Show Chair and was instrumental in launching the brand new Grain Expo in 2012.

Along with Reed Andrew as President, also elected to the Executive Team are: Vice President: Stewart Stone of Regina, SK; Members at Large: Bruce Holmquist of Kinistino, SK; Curtis Kuchinka of Regina, SK; and Bryce Thompson of Regina, SK; and Past President: Bryan Hadland of Weldon SK. Members of CWA also elected the following representatives to the Board of Directors to serve a two year term: Barry Young of Carievale, SK; Blake MacMillan of Nokomis, SK; Richard Harries of Regina, SK; Bob Jackson of Sylvania, SK; and Courtney MacDougall of Regina, SK. Directors already on the Board, serving the second of their two year term are: Elmer Eashappie of Regina SK; Doug Fee of De Winton, AB; Chris Lees of Arcola SK; Carla Schmitt of Arborfield SK; and Jason Williams of Hanley SK.

Canadian Western Agribition Focuses on Commercial Cattle 2013 Show Features New Commercial Cattle Program he Commercial Cattle Barn at Agribition has always been, and will continue to be, a great place to catch up with a neighbor, spill a story or two, and pick from the best working cattle the industry has to offer.

Agribition 2013 will feature a new commercial cattle program. The ‘Stock Exchange’, will showcase the best working cattle in the industry. The ‘Stock Exchange’ is more than just a name, it’s a change of attitude, appearance, and programming.

“Commercial cattle are the lifeblood of the cattle industry,” notes Reed Andrew, President of Agribition. “We want to create an environment that brings in more cattle, people, and commerce.”

New to the Stock Exchange: •

Bull Pen Alley- A multi-breed show featuring pens of three yearling bulls. This group of bulls will be formally judged and a People’s Choice Award will up the stakes and the profile.

The Yards- Exhibitors can use a 20x20 pen to showcase their farm and ranch. A mix of cattle and dry display spaces will attract exhibitors intending to use CWA’s captive audience to market their commercial programs.

The Stock Exchange will also feature many of the current program offerings including Bred Heifers, Open Replacements, and Feeder Steers.

It is by no accident, Agribition took on the challenge to grow the commercial cattle presence at the show; Agribition wanted to drive more cattle and more people through the former Commercial Cattle Barn. Not only has the game changed, so have the rules.

Barry Andrew Family Scholarship New Scholarship Offering for Post-Secondary Agriculture Students he Canadian Western Agribition Barry Andrew Family Scholarship program is intended to provide financial support and incentive to a student in order to pursue post secondary and graduate education in the field of Agriculture. The funding for the scholarship program was bequeathed by the late Barry Andrew. Barry was one of the founding member of Agribition and served as the fifth President from 1980-1981. He was actively involved in Agribition as a long standing committee member and livestock exhibitor. Barry was the recipient of numerous Agribition awards. In 2010 he was one of the first inductees in the Agribition Hall of Fame. In 2007 Barry received the Chris Sutter award for exemplary contribution to the development of Agribition.

Eligibilities: This scholarship program in the amount of $1,500.00 is open to students that have participated in Canadian Western Agribition as an exhibitor themselves or with their family. This includes all livestock classes, 4-H classes, and active trade show exhibit participation. Students must be enrolled in an Agriculture related program in a post secondary educational institution.
