Ride ‘em Cowboy New in 2013! Ride ’em Cowboy is a new event at Agribition. Come watch Saskatchewan’s top trainers, Dale Clearwater of Hanley, SK, and Cain Quam of Kendal, SK work two young horses simultaneously in their respective round pens as they take horses from wild bronc to domestic companion.

“Ride ‘em Cowboy will provide guests the opportunity to witness both Dale and Cain’s horsemanship expertise as they deal with the unpredictability of working with horses that have never been ridden before.” said Courtney MacDougall, Equine Team Leader and Canadian Western Agribition Board of Director.

Round pen work takes place Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 12:00 p.m. in the Brandt Centre for all to see. The trainers will provide insight and explanation on their technique and strategy for managing these young animals. On Friday these two newly domesticated animals will ride a pre-determined pattern and be judged on their overall performance. The colts will later be sold at auction during the Ranch Horse Sale on Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the Brandt Centre.

Indigenous Agriculture Summit Canadian Western Agribition Unites Indigenous People from Around the World he Canadian Western Agribition Indigenous Agriculture Summit is a platform to showcase Indigenous agriculture practice throughout North America. This two-day conference will take place on November 12-13 in Regina, during the 43rd edition of Canadian Western Agribiton (CWA).

The conference will feature topics and discussion focused on individual and organization’s success stories in agriculture and opportunities that exist in the agri-food sector. Each topic will be centrally themed around a First Nations based program or activity related to agriculture.

“First Nations activities have been on the rise at Canadian Western Agribition the last few years.

This conference will address a need for Indigenous communities to come together and benefit from shared learnings.” said Elmer Eashappie, Committee Chair and CWA Director.

Guest speakers and topics will range from land use capacity and resource management techniques used across Saskatchewan by First Nations groups, to a variety of U.S. based presenters including Florida’s Seminole Tribe’s beef production model.

Success stories shared at the conference will include Ochapowace First Nations 9,000 acre grain farm, Black Bear Orchards: Traditional Food to Contemporary Business, and the work done by the First Nations Agriculture Association of British Columbia.

“The Indigenous Agriculture Summit is the first conference of its kind in Canada.” said Marty Seymour, CEO of CWA. “This event compliments Agribition’s programming, and strengthens Regina profile as an agriculture center of excellence.”

Organizers of the conference hope to elevate the profile of the show to attract additional international interest.

Agribition Cranks Up the Volume Canadian Western Agribition is excited to bring music back to the show! The Pump Roadhouse Stage, located in the Budlight Loading Chute, will feature many free local entertainment acts all week long.

Local musical acts from across Saskatchewan will perform throughout the day. Acts vary from individual artists to larger dance groups from Monday to Saturday. With the help of the Regina Folk Festival, Indigo Joseph and The Pile of Bones Brass Band will perform on Friday and Saturday night post rodeo.

Have a bite to eat, rest your feet, and enjoy a little western hospitality, Agribition style!

Infrastructure Update Significant Improvements Made to Cattle Barns any of you will be happy to hear significant improvements have been made to our cattle barns this summer. Even though we have not brought all facilities up to first class standards, we are proud to highlight the following investments in infrastructure.

As part of our launch of The Yards at Agribition, we have invested in additional heating and lights in the newly named Stock Exchange (formerly the Commercial Barn). It’s a great compliment to the strength of our commercial cattle program, and is sure to attract an extended audience this year.

New roof in the Stock Exchange Arena.

We have recently completed the install of a newly paved floor in the Stockman’s Arena. This floor will improve some of the air quality issues and move-in and move-out challenges associated with the previous dirt floor.

Lastly, the most significant upgrades are taking place in the Canada Centre Building. The Newly paved floor in the Stockman’s Arena. roof was repaired this summer and new lighting is being installed. The facelift on this venue is very exciting and will serve us well over the long-term. The total investment in infrastructure in the last 2 years will total close to $1.5M. We thank you for your patience over the years. These improvements are a step in the right direction and we plan to continue to invest into the property for the betterment of all our livestock exhibitors and visitors. ...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Catch a ride with other Agribition goers from Northgate Mall on Monday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Tuesday-Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Bus service will be available from Northgate Mall at the top of the hour, and from the Brandt Centre at the bottom of the hour. Best of all – bus patrons will receive FREE show admission!

Canadian Western Agribition Grain Expo Returns in 2013 Canadian Western Agribition Grain Expo is back in 2013 with a two-day conference featuring a line-up of industry speakers and an industry focused trade show. The conference will take place November 12 and 13 at the Queensbury Salon, Evraz Place, Regina, Saskatchewan.

The 2012 Grain Expo exceeded organizers expectations with over 500 grain producers taking part in the inaugural event. The success of the conference can be attributed to the post-harvest timing of the event and the pragmatic presentations of the powerful line-up of speakers.

Organizers have allocated more space for the 2013 Grain Expo in anticipation of an even bigger audience for the conference. This year’s conference will feature an expanded trade show component targeting grain specific products and services.

“Agribition has grown beyond just cattle.” said Reed Andrew, President of CWA. “The success of last year’s Grain Expo speaks to the show’s ability to deliver a quality event to a targeted group of sophisticated grain producers.

It’s only going to get bigger.”

This year’s Grain Expo speaker topics include: Herbicide Resistance Management, Applying Science to Improve Canola Yields, and Grain Marketing Updates.
