This year marks a very special milestone—10 years since The Sharon first opened its doors. What began in 2015 as a bold dream has grown into a vibrant home for live performance, rooted in the adventurous and artistic spirit of my grandmother, Sharon L. Morse.

Over the past decade, we’ve been honored to earn your trust, show by show, standing ovation by standing ovation. Whether you’re here tonight to experience a beloved Broadway tour, a favorite artist, or something entirely new, know that every performance has been thoughtfully curated by our passionate team of artists and arts administrators.

As we celebrate our first ten years, we’re also stepping into an exciting new chapter: The Sharon is now proudly powered by Significant Productions, a registered nonprofit dedicated to creating meaningful, memorable arts experiences in our community.

With this new foundation, we’re not only preserving what makes The Sharon special, we’re building toward a future filled with bold ideas, diverse stories, and even more opportunities to surprise and delight you.

THREE ON A STING In 2026, Three On A String celebrated 55 years in the entertainment business, a remarkable feat in today’s fast changing society. They were inducted into the Alabama Music Hall of Fame in March 2023.

Jerry Ryan and Bobby Horton performed as a duet for one show at Horse Pens 40 near Steel, Alabama in 1971. George Pruitt, a big band music veteran suggested they add a bass and thus Three on a String was born. Some personnel changes and lots of one-nighters eventually evolved into performances with symphony orchestras in several states including a nine-city tour with the Alabama Symphony, opening for Bill Cosby, Red Skelton, Barbara Mandrel, Jeff Foxworthy, George Lindsey, Ray Stevens and many more top stars. Add in concerts for art councils, Chambers of Commerce, Landmark Theatres and city celebrations and you have a busy schedule for these veteran entertainers.

Founder Jerry Ryan, now retired, left a career as a teacher, coach, and high school principal to pursue the performing dream, as a guitar player, vocalist, and harmonica player and never looked back. “There is no feeling in the world like presenting our show to an audience that has no idea who we are and having the show close with a standing ovation,” says Jerry.

Bobby Horton started taking trumpet lessons as a child and eventually became proficient at more than 20 instruments including the banjo, dobro, mandolin, guitar, violin/fiddle, and the Irish pipes. He has worked with PBS documentary film maker Ken Burns for more than 30 years. His music can be heard in “The Civil War”, “Lewis and Clark”, “Baseball” and “Country Music.” He is in constant demand for his musical presentation of Civil War music, and more recently for his presentation of “Patriot Songs of the American Revolution” in honor of America’s 250th Anniversary.

In between he still finds time to tour with Three on a String.

Brad Ryan watched his father, Jerry, and Bobby learn their way around the music business before becoming the regular bass player, added fiddle to the show’s musical presentation, and eventually developed one of the most requested comedy bits in a collection of winners. Since Jerry’s retirement, Brad has taken over leadership of the band.

Former member Andy Meginniss fits back in seamlessly after many years, adding his unique talents to the already stellar show! Four entertaining guys who enjoy sharing their talents with each new audience.

BIOGRAPHIES BRAD RYAN Brad Ryan is a long-time member of Three on a String, and has traveled the United States and Canada for over 35 years.

Credits also include writing, producing, and recording many successful commercial features including the nationally known “Rick and Bubba Theme Song.” Brad has toured Scotland with Michael Adler Ministries as a featured “fiddler” on a 10-day musical mission and outreach for Christ. Brad also moonlights as Worship Leader at Springville United Methodist Church.

BOBBY HORTON Bobby Horton is an expert musician who “plays anything that ain’t tied down” quips Jerry. But it is probably his physical humor that has endeared himself to Three On A String audiences throughout the years. Bobby has found a niche as a music historian. His series of “Homespun Songs of the Civil War” has been featured in many publications and won numerous awards. His work with Ken Burns and Florentine Films is extensive. “I have two passions.” says Horton. “Music and history. I’ve been able to combine the two and do something I love to do.”

ANDY MEGINNISS Andy Meginniss is a veteran performer who played bass, guitar and handled lead and harmony vocals as part of Three On A String from 1974 to 1985. He was invited to rejoin the group in 2013 and “is having more fun than ever.” Andy has written several songs that the group has recorded and still performs, and two have been scored for the symphony. In 2011, he was elected to the Alabama Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame.
