PERFORMING ARTS CENTER
Dear Patron of the Arts,
Welcome to The Sharon® L. Morse Performing Arts Center!
Much like the building’s namesake, my grandmother, Sharon L. Morse, we love all varieties of the performing arts here. It is in her memory that I, along with my amazing team of artists and arts administrators, strive to bring many different types of the highest quality entertainment here to The Sharon.
Since opening in 2015, we have strived to establish your trust, that a show at The Sharon is a show worth seeing. Perhaps you find yourself here today to see a concert of one of your favorite musicians, or to take in the national tour of a Broadway show. Either way, we encourage you to consider trying out a new show that perhaps you haven’t heard of before, knowing that it has been intentionally curated by our team.
We welcome you to The Sharon: a place for you to see an old favorite, but also a place to discover your new favorite. I sincerely hope you enjoy the show today, and I look forward to seeing you here again soon!
See You at The Sharon, Whitney

Cimarrón is considered by Forbes magazine as “the band that takes the music from the Orinoco River Plains across the world”.
This Grammy-nominated six-piece (Best Traditional World Music Album) delivers an extraordinary blend of its Andalusian, Indigenous and African roots, with a raw ethnic singing, percussive stomp dancing and rapidfire strings.
Around 40 countries of 5 continents have ovationated Cimarrón show in main folk and global music festivals such as Mawazine Festival in Morocco, Malaysia Rainforest World Music Festival, Switzerland Paléo Festival, Rajasthan International Folk Festival, Rudolstadt Festival, Globaltica Festival, Abu Dhabi Culture & Heritage Festival, Førde International Folk Music Festival, Flamenco Biennale Nederland, Newport Folk Festival, San Francisco International Arts Festival and worldwide renowned performing art centers such as Japan Musashino Concert Hall and China National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing. Their energetic and infectious music includes harp, four-stringed cuatro, guitarlike tiple and bandola, maracas, Afro-Peruvian cajón, Brazilian surdo, Afro Colombian tambora, ancient deer-skull whistles from the Orinoco River, the Amazonian Manguaré and all the power of the stomp dance of the rustic parties in Los Llanos (Colombian and Venezuelan Plains).
Cimarrón was Latin Grammy nominated for Best Folk Album (Orinoco, 2019), and also earned 2020 Songlines Music Awards as Best Group in the UK after their fourth tour alongside the acclaimed Welsh harpist Catrin Finch, which included a concert in the legendary Maida Vale Studios (BBC, London). The band has won Independent Music Awards (Best Instrumental, 2019), Transglobal World Music Chart (Best Album of South America, 2019).

Cimarrón recently released their new album La Recia with a Europe Summer Tour (Germany Rudolstadt Festival, Poland Globaltica Festival) and a wonderful cover in London’s Songlines magazine, with photographs by Ruven Afanador (world renowned photographer: Oprah, the Dalai Lama , Antonio Banderas, Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera).
La Recia (2022) has been awarded four stars by The Times (Clive Davis) and Financial Times (David Honingmann) in the UK. It was the number 1 album for July on the Transglobal World Music Chart and also blasted in Top 20 World Music Charts Europe as the only album from the Americas on that chart. La Recia has also been positively rated in media such as The Bangkok Post (Thailand), Maailman Kuvalehti (Finland), Radio Belgrade (Serbia), Woxx (Luxembourg), Heaven (Belgium), Foolk (Italy).
Cimarrón means ‘wild bull’ in the Orinoco Plains and the band took this name as an allegory of freedom in music. Led by the singer Ana Veydó and founded in partnership with the harpist Carlos Cuco Rojas (1954-2020), Cimarrón leads modern joropo with a whole new sound in permanent evolution.
