FEB 7 • 7:30pm FEB 8 • 2pm & 7:30pm From three-time Tony® winner and Hamilton choreographer, Andy Blankenbuehler, comes a poignant and inspiring new American musical that explodes with infectious music and high-octane, heartstopping dancing. It’s 1945. As America’s soldiers come home to ticker-tape parades and overjoyed families, Private First Class Donny Novitski, singer and songwriter, struggles to rebuild the life he left behind. BANDSTAND is “both a peppy celebration of can-do spirit and a more somber exploration of what American servicemen experienced when they marched home from World War II. It’s a great argument for why theater can sometimes tell a story more boldly and more viscerally” (The New York Times). “The show defies you not to be moved” (Time Out New York).

I am a Production Management/ Education Intern at The Sharon® & The Studio™ Theatres. Recently, I have been spending most of my time working with students attending the summer camps hosted at The Sharon. Outside of that, however, I also work backstage at events, and more broadly help prepare for the upcoming season. This includes attending and taking notes during production meetings, helping coordinate auditions and assembling props lists.
learn more about professional theatre and Production Management. I have also never spent much time away from southeastern PA–so living for an extended amount of time in Florida is very exciting to me!
I am currently a Music major at Bryn Mawr College, a small historically-women’s college outside of Philadelphia, PA. Outside of music and theatre, I am also very interested in fashion, animals and taking naps. When I was in high school, I played percussion in my school’s marching band, and piano in the concert jazz band. The college that I ended up attending didn’t have either of these ensembles, and as a freshman, I found myself searching for a community that demanded the high level of commitment that I was used to. I ended up becoming the Music Director of my college’s musical theater group. Because the club is entirely studentrun, I have had to take on many roles that fall beyond what many consider the standard responsibilities of a Music Director. Though it can be draining, I have come to love the theater world and all the opportunities it presents.
My coworkers are my favorite part of working at The Sharon. Everyone has been so friendly and welcoming. My coworkers have made it incredibly easy for me to settle in and feel at home, especially considering I am in a place so unfamiliar to me.
I initially found the job posting for The Sharon on the Playbill website. Upon getting the job, I was excited to
When I first arrived, I was honestly pretty intimidated by the culture of The Villages®–I hadn’t seen anything else like it, because, well, nothing else like it really exists. Over time, however, I grew somewhat used to it and all its idiosyncrasies.
I am an upcoming Junior Oklahoma City University wh I have been majoring in Thea Design & Production with Empha in Lighting Design. Throughout career, I’ve had the opportunity work with a great number of design and technicians and have tried my b to absorb any advice or knowled given. I became interested in light immediately in high school, and so I’ve been “stuck” in it ever since!
My role at The Sharon/Studio Theat as a Summer Technical Intern prov me with an opportunity to use education I have, and to strengthen within areas that I have less experien in. For example, I’ve got to assist programming the lighting cons for Always... Patsy Cline, a task t I am familiar and comfortable wi Whereas I’ve also had the opportun to work in the shop and assist building platforms, a task that I now gaining more experience a knowledge in. Currently, I am light board operator for Always... Pa Cline at The Studio Theatre and really enjoy it!
I found this internship position onl and immediately became furt interested after learning more abo what The Sharon/Studio offers th community. I strongly believe in importance of education and shar knowledge to others in a commun The Sharon/Studio sets an exam of exposing individuals to the a and educating them with the high standards. to inspiration and fueling individuals to become more of a positive force within our field. The Sharon/Studio was in an ideal location for me when I was searching for internships earlier this year. I was looking for an internship in the Central Florida area in order to make connections in the area, as I plan to move here permanently. The interns and I call The Villages a utopia. On our tours of the various villages and spaces, I was astonished as to how picture perfect every detail is here. The community is filled with great people. However, I am still getting used to these golf cars everywhere! My favorite part of the job is the people that I work with. Everyone is very friendly and will always lend a helping hand.
Nia Burns I am a Production Management/ Education Intern at The Sharon L. Morse Performing Arts Center. I am currently a rising junior in the Stage Management program at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music. The internship’s responsibilities include assisting the Production Manager with budgeting, scheduling, casting, and planning for The Studio Theatre’s 2019-20 season. At the moment, my coworkers and I are helping run one of the week-long children’s summer camps held at The Sharon.
from Ohio and haven’t spent more than two weeks away from the city at a time, so this experience is long overdue for me. My favorite part about working at The Sharon is the wonderful atmosphere cultivated by its staff. Every day I’m greeted with friendly faces and welcoming people; so much so that it feels like a home away from home.
I found out about this internship online during an intense job search a few months ago. Honestly, I was interested in this position because I was at a crossroads in my education. I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to continue at my current school or find another path in the theatrical realm. This internship allows me to explore a different style of management in a comfortable, yet challenging environment. I think my favorite part of The Villages is that it’s so far away from home. I’m
