First up, it’s Rock of Ages. If you love the music of the 80’s, big hair, and a great love story, you will flip for Rock of Ages! It’s such a fun evening featuring the songs of Styx, Poison, Twisted Sister, Whitesnake and many more. I know I will be singing along in my seat, so come and join me. It will be one of the most talked about shows this season. Next up, we have Monty Python’s Spamalot. In true Monty Python fashion it is a spoof of a spoof of a musical spoof. Make sense? No? Well, if you liked movies like Monty Python and the Holy Grail, or The Life of Brian – or even just comedy – this is the musical for you. Some of the funniest songs I have ever heard in a musical are in this show. Songs like “He’s Not Dead Yet,” “Run Away,” “Brave Sir Robin,” and “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.” The first time I saw it my face hurt I laughed so much. I can’t think of a better way to ring in the New Year than with a few sidesplitting laughs. I hope you will join us. Happy New Year and we will see you at The Sharon in 2019!

The Tony Award winning Best Musical, Monty Python’s Spamalot, begins its search for the Holy Grail in the Fall of 2018. This outrageous musical comedy is lovingly ripped off from the film classic “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” with a book by Eric Idle and music and lyrics by the Grammy Award winning team of Mr. Idle and John Du Prez, Spamalot tells the tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table as they embark on their quest for the Holy Grail. Flying cows, killer rabbits, taunting Frenchmen, and show-stopping musical numbers are just a few of the reasons audiences worldwide are eating up SPAMALOT!

JIM BELU

of Com & The Board “We are not stand-up comedians. Our show is not a passive, sit-back-and-watch experience. Most of the fun we have on stage comes from our inclusion of the audience – we get suggestions from them to begin each scene we perform, and in certain instances, bring them on-stage with us to add to our performance. It’s less a ‘show’ and more a party. At least it feels like one to me. This group of actors brings me right back to how I started out in comedy – maybe that’s why we have so much fun doing it.” – Jim Belushi With more than thirty years of experience and an alumnus of “Saturday Night Live” and Chicago’s famed Second City, JIM BELUSHI is now bringing to the stage an improvised comedy sketch show featuring members of the Board of Comedy. Belushi starred on the ABC hit comedy “According to Jim,” on which he also served as executive producer, music composer and director. After wrapping 182 episodes for its eighth and final season, the family favorite series also hit a milestone when it launched into off-net syndication in 2007. A favorite of film, television and stage audiences, Belushi is one of the great leading character actors equally at home in drama and comedy, and a gifted performer who can also hold a room as front man of a rhythm and blues band. Accompanying Belushi are Megan Grano, Larry Joe Campbell and Joshua Funk*, all of whom are classically trained professional improvisers who tour regularly nationwide. *Supporting cast may be subject to availability

A Midsummer Night’s Dream– one of Shakespeare’s most beloved and witty comedies, is brought to vivid life in an innovative new production by the Aquila Theatre. Full of memorable characters- Puck, Oberon, Hermia, and Nick Bottom- and the famous “play within a play”, A Midsummer Night’s Dream deals with the universal theme of love, and its attendant complications: passion, lust, frustration, depression, confusion, and marriage. Aquila Theatre weaves a web of theatrical magic that takes audiences to the heart of an enchanted forest while witnessing the injustice of the Athenian court and the political strife of the fairy kingdom. At the center of the story is the Fairy King’s servant, the impish Puck, whose magic creates an endless supply of mirth, mistaken identity, and inappropriate, if not absolutely ludicrous passions. He is set loose in the forest with his enchanted love drops which, when sprinkled into the eyes of the sleeping, charm the sleeper into a state of mad passion for the first person they see when they awake. Aquila’s signature physical theatre style of beautiful movement, combined with music and song and some of the finest Shakespearean acting today, produces an unforgettable Dream. A promise of “nightly revels and new jollity”. Aquila’s productions of Shakespeare have been critically acclaimed by The New Yorker as “beautifully spoken, dramatically revealing and crystalline in effect.” The New York Times says that Aquila “makes Shakespeare perfectly comprehensible” and hails the company as “an extraordinarily inventive and disciplined outfit.”

Interview with international subscription holders: - Elizabeth & Gerrit White The Village of Glenbrook

• How did you find out about the International Subscription offering at The Sharon? “I saw information about the International Subscription offering at the Sharon in The Villages Daily Sun. We have friends (Beth and Fred Donahue) living in Lynnhaven, The Villages who also expressed interest in selecting a series.” • What do you do/plan to do for each International Show? “The plan for each show is identify the nationality and determine what foods best represent the country that we could actually prepare for dinner before the show. Since we are going to 5 shows together the idea was to alternate, in each others homes, the preparation of the dinner between the two couples.” • How did you like the first show, the Chinese Warriors of Peking? “We really loved the first show, the Chinese Warriors of Peking. My husband and I traveled through China several years ago and saw a similar show. The performance in The Sharon was every bit as good, maybe better. It was surely easier to buy tickets!” • What did you think of the Featured Drink for the show? “The drink was fun to order and enjoy. After sharing a Chinese dinner, the drink added to our cultural experience.” • What other shows did you choose for the package and why? “Additional shows that we selected: Shanghai Opera Symphony Orchestra, Farruquito, Canadian Brass, and Murphy’s Celtic Legacy. We wanted to go to all of the shows but selected these because of commitments on other dates. All of the offerings seemed very interesting and we are sorry that we can’t make it to all of them.” • What are your thoughts on the Passport? “Love the idea of the passport because it enhances the international feel of the experience.”
