PERFORMING ARTS CENTER

Dear Patron of the Arts,

Welcome to The Sharon® L. Morse Performing Arts Center!

Much like the building’s namesake, my grandmother, Sharon L. Morse, we love all varieties of the performing arts here. It is in her memory that I, along with my amazing team of artists and arts administrators, strive to bring many different types of the highest quality entertainment here to The Sharon.

Since opening in 2015, we have strived to establish your trust, that a show at The Sharon is a show worth seeing. Perhaps you find yourself here today to see a concert of one of your favorite musicians, or to take in the national tour of a Broadway show. Either way, we encourage you to consider trying out a new show that perhaps you haven’t heard of before, knowing that it has been intentionally curated by our team.

We welcome you to The Sharon: a place for you to see an old favorite, but also a place to discover your new favorite. I sincerely hope you enjoy the show today, and I look forward to seeing you here again soon!

See You at The Sharon,

ROCKIE LYNNE

Yes, it’s true: Billboard chart-topping artist Rockie Lynne has the classic silky voice and winning smile of a Nashville heartthrob and all of the swagger of an electric guitar player from a Southern-California rock band from the 1970s. But that’s just the breathtaking outer surface — Rockie’s thousands of listeners know that underneath lies an even more impressive 24-carat heart. His fans see this 82nd Airborne veteran as the very model of American devotion. “It’s an honor to touch people with my music,” Rockie says. “But my real mission is to use that connection to make something good happen in this world.” Over the last twenty years, his charities have raised over one million dollars for children of fallen soldiers. Wherever he performs — New York’s Radio City Music Hall, Kansas City’s Starlight Theater, or “Good Morning America,” “NFL Sunday,” or his many appearances on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry — Rockie’s audience feels the sparkly greatness and the warm goodness all at once. And he’s just getting started.

A musician’s musician, Rockie is what performers call a “triple threat”: a soulful songwriter, a moving singer, and a master guitarist. Starting as a lead guitar player in rock’n’roll bands as a teenager, he fell in love with country music in his native North Carolina, polished his guitar chops in Los Angeles and finally blossomed as a songwriter in Nashville, signing a major recording contract with Universal Records.

Behold Rockie’s 9th album, and his best yet: LoveRockie created Love with his band — Dirk Dowell on fiddle, June Annas on bass, Mark Holland on keys, Doug McCowan on drums, and Daelyn Dowell (Dirk’s daughter) on harmonies — all nestled in Rockie’s recording studio in Statesville, North Carolina“We wanted to capture that same energy that we generate on stage,” Rockie says, “so that’s exactly how we recorded —live as a band. This record also delivers some of our on-stage rock presence, and some of that raw guitar energy that’s always been at my musical core.”

To emphasize this record as something of a rebirth, Rockie has also reintroduced his seminal song “More,” with a new production. “It’s become one of our signature songs,” he says. “It was time for an update.”

With the album release, the band will tour nationally in support, all the while keeping faith with Rockie’s singular devotion to the charity that he founded nearly two decades ago. “It’s something I love to do and something I have to do.” he says. The organization, Tribute To The Troops, was inspired in 2004 by a spontaneous cavalcade of recreational motorcycle riders visiting the homes of families who have lost a loved one in active dutySince that day, Rockie has found dozens of ways to stay attached to his fellow soldiers and to encourage all Americans to give something back -- performing for wounded troops at Walter Reed Army Medical

Center and at military bases all over the world.

ROCKIE LYNNE

Rockie doesn’t sing to our troops — he sings as one of them.

Now, even with hundreds of thousands of albums sold and the recently completed documentary film, Where I Belong, that tells the story of his life and career, Rockie finds himself in the unusual position of still being discovered by the masses. “He’s famous and unknown at the same time,” says his wife Susan Levy Rash, a former Nashville record executive who met Rockie when he was signed to the label where she was working as a vice president. Having lived with him now through numerous records and thousands of shows “it’s pretty strange seeing how so many people adore him while many others may not be familiar with him at all. With the release of Love and the documentary, it’s an exciting time for people to discover him at his very best.”

“Everything’s now lined up for Rockie,” says legendary Nashville producer Tony Brown. The world is ready to finally say, “Where have you been?”
