PERFORMING ARTS CENTER
Dear Patron of the Arts,
Welcome to The Sharon L. Morse Performing Arts Center!
This year marks a very special milestone—10 years since The Sharon first opened its doors. What began in 2015 as a bold dream has grown into a vibrant home for live performance, rooted in the adventurous and artistic spirit of my grandmother, Sharon L. Morse.
Over the past decade, we’ve been honored to earn your trust, show by show, standing ovation by standing ovation. Whether you’re here tonight to experience a beloved Broadway tour, a favorite artist, or something entirely new, know that every performance has been thoughtfully curated by our passionate team of artists and arts administrators.
As we celebrate our first ten years, we’re also stepping into an exciting new chapter: The Sharon is now proudly powered by Significant Productions, a registered nonprofit dedicated to creating meaningful, memorable arts experiences in our community. With this new foundation, we’re not only preserving what makes The Sharon special, we’re building toward a future filled with bold ideas, diverse stories, and even more opportunities to surprise and delight you.
Thank you for being part of this journey. We’re so glad you’re here. Enjoy the show, and here’s to the next ten years of discovery, connection, and applause.
See You at The Sharon, Whitney Morse

A LEAGUE OF HER OWN
A League of Her Own is an original one-woman play written and devised by Allison Price, Abby Ferree, and Jonah Fujikawa. A League of Her Own is about Sam, a woman who’s ready for a new world full of possibility and rebirth, but something hides in the dark. The play explores the dark underbelly of mankind and the consequences of a woman’s voice being ignored. What would you do for a good night’s rest?
The Sharon is thrilled to present A League of Her Own, an original one-woman play written and devised by Allison Price, Abby Ferree, and Jonah Fujikawa. This new play, starring Dani Treviño and directed by Jordan Gregson (Significant Production’s Literary and Casting Associate), will be presented as you’ve never seen theater at The Sharon before.
Prepare to step in to the life of Sam during this unique, powerful, and at times emotional glimpse into a world that too many women are forced to live with every day. According to stalkingawareness.org, 1 in 3 women experience stalking at some point in their lives, with 11% of cases lasting 5 or more years. Approximately 48% of sexual assault survivors also experienced stalking prior to their assault. In 3 out of every 4 cases where women were murdered by an intimate partner, there was documented stalking in the year before her death.

Special thanks to Haven of Lake and Sumter Counties Inc. for generously supplying resources and educational materials on the subject matter of A League of Her Own

DIRECTOR’S NOTE
Dear Patrons,
First off, I wanted to personally thank you for joining us for this east coast regional-premiere of A League of Her Own, written and devised by Allison Price, Abby Ferree, and Jonah Fujikawa. I was first introduced to A League of Her Own over a year and a half ago by my co-creator and star of this production, Dani Treviño. I was immediately struck by the protagonist, Sam, who is navigating a terrifying and unjust reality: a preposterous lack of protection under Texas law that currently allows her stalker to maintain more rights than she has to protect herself. Stalking, legally defined as a pattern of behavior intended to cause fear, emotional distress, or physical harm to a targeted individual, is a crime rooted in control and intimidation. Yet in Texas, the legal response often fails to match the severity of the threat. According to the Texas Council on Family Violence, 1 in 3 women in the state experience stalking in their lifetimes—often by someone they know. Sam’s story highlights the deep flaws in a system that forces people being stalked to wait until violence escalates before taking meaningful action, leaving countless women in limbo and unprotected despite clear and present danger. I feel that this important, powerful, and poignant play brings immediate attention to the violence against women and their lack of protection in America. This one-woman play was first produced in Austin, Texas with Alley Bottle Theatre Company. It received great reviews and went on to win awards, such as a Broadway World Austin Award for Best New Play, and the B. Iden Payne Award for Outstanding Technical Integration. The first production was devised as an immersive site-specific performance. Now, three years later after a successful run, my co-creator and I are ecstatic to bring you this one-woman play reimagined as a psychological thriller. It’s a uniquely devised immersive theatrical experience that will ask you to step right into Sam’s world. Once you step inside, you’re met with her reality for a whole hour–which at times may be foreign, uncomfortable, and emotional. I invite you to feel all of the emotions and to remain open to the powerful message of this play. This play includes heavy themes such as domestic violence, sexual violence, strong language, and may not be suitable for all audiences. This is all very real for so many women in America and is the scary truth so many women are forced to live with everyday. Thank you for supporting the development of new works, and to every hand that touched this play. I’ll leave you with this question: When all else fails–even your own government–what lengths would you go to in order to protect yourself?
Jordan Gregson, Director
DRAMATURG NOTE
Bringing visibility to the stigma surrounding stalking is crucial for fostering a safer and more supportive society. Stalking affects millions, with studies showing that 1 in 3 women in the United States have experienced stalking in their lifetime. Despite its prevalence, stalking is often downplayed and misunderstood, leading to delayed reporting and inadequate support for survivors. By raising awareness, we can challenge misconceptions, encourage survivors to come forward, and promote early intervention strategies that can prevent escalation and protect individuals from further harm. By shining a light on the multifaceted effects of this violence, we will be able to bring forth more visibility on this pressing issue, validation of the experiences of survivors, and viability to integral mitigation strategies. For more information on how to proactively impact the future of safety and violence prevention, please visit: stalkingawareness.org
