August really did sip away like a bottle of wine, and fall is officially here! The air is crisp and fresh The Pumpkin Spice Lattes are flowing And Atlanta happens to be my favorite place this time of year.
I put together this guide for all Atlanta Locals who want to soak in the season...the crunchy leaves, the local football games, and the crisp breeze that can only mean one thing: sweater weather.
I hope this guide makes your fall planning a little easier and a lot more festive!

Atlanta wouldn't be the same if it weren't for the annual ribbon cutting at Southern Belle Farm each year Get pumpkins for your porch and hot apple cider and don't leave without going on the hayride!

ATLANTA PRIDE FESTIVAL
The largest pride festival in the Southeast to celebrate diversity and community during a week-long extravaganza with live entertainment, cultural exhibits, the giant Pride parade and the Marketplace at Piedmont Park.

LITTLE FIVE POINTS FESTIVAL & PARADE
The Little 5 Points Halloween Festival & Parade is the biggest and spookiest Halloween celebration in the Southeast. A wicked two-day event featuring the world-famous Little 5 Points Halloween Parade on Sunday, live music from Atlanta’s best underground acts, an art and vintage market, neighborhood ghost tours, a skate park, food and drink vendors, and so much more!

TRICK OR TREAT AROUND ATLANTA
Grab your kids and their costumes (or dress up, yourself!) and head out for trick or treating!

Atlanta's favorite running/walking destination and Atlanta's historic running/walking organization are teaming up to bring races to the the Eastside Beltline along Piedmont Park, Ponce City Market and Krog Street Market.

Enjoy the day with your family! Don't forget to invite a neighbor or friend to have dinner with you, and spread the word that Thanksgiving meals are available for pickup at the Hosea Helps‘ Headquarters.

SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY
Support local by attending this event! Small Business Saturday is a national shopping day that encourages people to support small businesses in their communities and “shop local ” The local Beltline Marketplace businesses housed in custom shipping containers on the Eastside and Westside trails will open their doors to shoppers on the Saturday after Thanksgiving

A few fall decorating tips...
Fall = guests, family and get-togethers. Get your front porch ready for fall festivities with a pair of planters surrounded by an abundance of mums and real or faux pumpkins and gourds Mix in a few lanterns to add a welcoming glow to evening gatherings
Weather permitting, move fall suppers or even Thanksgiving dinner outdoors A backdrop of fall-colored leaves and crisp air will provide the perfect setting for the feast.
Bring warmth and make your home cozyy adding warm colors and textures. Think about incorporating throw pillows and blankets in shades of orange, earthy greens, and honey-toned yellows. You can also add some texture with knit or velvet throw pillows.

Choose one with a thick, green stem; this indicates it’s been recently picked, and that the flesh is sturdy and can withstand some serious carving Also, steer free of pumpkins covered in mushy spots, bugs, or bruises Before cutting into the pumpkin, you’ll want to sketch a traceable design to guide your carving efforts. Use a dry-erase marker in case you make any mistakes. With candles, you run the risk of fire and melting your pumpkin. Consider using LED lights, glow sticks, or even Christmas lights wrapped around a jar.

Piedmont Park - The the largest park in Atlanta and provides many spots to take photos such as a dock that overlooks the lake, a large field with the skyline in the background, and many grassy areas perfect to throw a blanket down.
Arabia Mountain - The top of the mountain is worth the hike for beautiful sunset/rise photos.

From farm to table, you can't beat it!
East Atlanta Village Farmers Market - a community-driven market featuring locally grown veggies and fruits, organic meats, dairy and eggs, artisan-produced breads and other delicacies Local artisan goods such as soaps and weekly chef demos are available
Peachtree Road Farmers Market - everything at the market has been grown, raised or made by the seller, ensuring fair prices for both the vendors and the consumers.
Buford Farmers Market - this is one of my personal favorite places. Fresh produce, tons of seafood options and the best part - it has an abundance of Asian foods including a Filipino aisle!
DeKalb Farmers Market - this farmer’s market is huge. It also has a wide variety of produce, meats, seafood, and even baked goods. It also has a large selection of African and Caribbean spices and foods

Funnel cakes, turkey legs, fried oreos, fried pickles... Need I say more?! Perfect place for some family fun in the cooler, crisp fall air.
