Providence Medical Center Among Top 5% of Hospitals in Clinical Outcomes in Nation According to Healthgrades Providence Medical Center, a member of Prime Healthcare, today announced in a special ceremony with local dignitaries that it has received the Healthgrades 2018 Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence™. The distinction recognizes Providence as one of the top five percent of nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide for its clinical performance as measured by Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals. Karen Orr, RN, MSN, MBA, CMSRN, Administrator of Providence Medical Center, credits the staff and physicians. “We are so proud that our hospital is only one of three in the entire metropolitan Kansas City area to receive this distinctive honor,” she said “This recognition highlights the high quality of care our patients receive every day here at Providence—expert care, close to home.” From 2014-2016, patients treated in hospitals receiving Healthgrades Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence had, on average, a 26.3% lower risk of dying (across 19 procedures and conditions where mortality is the clinical outcome) than if they were treated in hospitals that did not achieve this distinction For example, patients treated for respiratory failure at a hospital that achieved the Distinguished Hospital for Clinical Excellence Award had, on average, a 24.5% lower risk of dying than if treated at a hospital that did not achieve this distinction.* Orr credits many notable awards Providence has received this past year from Healthgrades and other national organizations to consistent dedication towards patients in achieveing the highest standards of patient safety and quality. “From an accredited Chest Pain Center, experienced staff and committed physicians, to modern technology, like recently added 3D mammography, we will remain focused on providing the best care possible for patients in this region,” Orr said.
