How to communicate a story, convey a trend and give your store energy

When stores rely on merchandise alone to build a lifestyle display, it often fails to engage the consumer. To connect with your customers, in addition to products, intersperse household items (aka props) that they relate to (suitcases, magazines, chairs, etc.) into your displays.
Dual Purpose

When your props also serve a dual purpose as a platform on which to display products, that’s a bonus! Here, we used vintage suitcases to tie together this bohemian travel theme. They work here because their retro patterns tie into the vintage styling of the plates and thermos we have for sale. They also ground the display by providing large surface areas to display upon.
Stand Tall

Look for props which can add height to your display. Here, we used a clothing rack to display a large quilt and some pillows. Keep your mind open to the alternative use of an item.
Wall Over

Don’t forget to use your walls when designing a display. It’s a blank canvas upon which you can layer patterns, colours and products. Be creative and use your walls to hang not only wall art but also carpets, textiles, plates, trays and other accent pieces.
